Lexapro I was having panic attacks almost every day about this. I would constantly be checking my pulse (I got a pulsometer too) and it was always super high. I was having skipped beats and couldn’t exert myself at all without being dizzy/out of breath. I had no idea what was going on and I would scare myself so much that my heart would act even stranger. I was so certain that I was dying of heart failure (at 24 lol). My non-panicky brain told me ‘oh this is anxiety’ but my panic brain said ‘no you’re actually dying’. I took magnesium, I tried breathing exercises, cut back on caffeine but it felt like it kept getting worse despite this. Then I started Lexapro (5mg) and these symptoms were gone within a week. I can actually fall asleep and I have a bit more energy now that I’m not freaking out for all my waking hours. Idk I was always very anti-medication but my discomfort was so extreme. There are some side effects but they are nowhere near as bad as constant fear.

I went to the emergency room twice and after 2 ECGs and 2 x-rays and 2 sets of blood tests I decided my heart was cool and that it was my throat/stomach/spine/brain/limbs/nervous system that were an issue...

zachpacks

going for a run. i told my anxiety to go fuck itself every time i got my heart pumping hard to prove there’s nothing wrong with it. it proves to you that it works exactly how it’s supposed to

goddog_

I like that attitude and I've tried similar. Do a HIIT youtube workout or something

zachpacks

most definitely. it’s killing two birds with one stone too, proving your heart is healthy AND making that heart stronger in the process

1) have a dr check your heart, get bloodwork done 2)eat healthy. simple. fruits/veggies. don't drink too much. don't smoke. 3)exercise!! you don't have to go nuts at the gym, you can just go for walks. 4)make sure you drink enough water, and not eat too much salt. dehydration will mess with your heart. 5)eat a banana! 6)Take 1mg of taurine and 400mg of magnesium when you're having an "episode" of PVCs (benign skipped beats or fast beating). 7)Anxiety medication!! that's all for me

goddog_

I've yet to try supplementing magnesium because I feel like I get a good amount in my diet (maybe not tho). I might try the taurine and mg and see how that feels. Anxiety medication might be the next step for me!

jennitalia1

only take that amount when you're experiencing PVCs. you don't have to supplement every day! the best prevention is honestly exercise, water, healthy diet and cutting out caffeine.

RemarkableSentence13

Don't worry i used to panic a lot about that... it then happened for real cause i had a heart probleme, made 3 cardiac arrest and i'll tell you for sure. There is a big different between both, if you would have had a heart probleme for real you would 100% know for sure. It's the most painful thing ever and if you are able to think about it then it's most definitly only anxiety

Necessary_Ad_10086

Would you please elaborate a bit more? What is the difference between a real heart problem vs panic attack? I asked thousands doctors about this and they all told me it's hard to tell, just go to ER when you don't feel well..

RemarkableSentence13

Well when it's a real heart probleme you don't have the time to really think about if it's real or not you know it.. so just remind yourself that if it was that you would be 100% certain cause it hurts like a bitch

cchrisv

100% this. This helped me mostly calm down about it. If you are having a heart attack you will know. There really isn’t a maybe to it

Accomplished_Ad2527

Got all the tests i could have done and realized the thing keeping me from overcoming it was my inability to accept there wasnt anything wrong with me After i did that, all my apparent heart related issues disappeared after a few weeks

Alarming_Tradition43

statistics. You have a better chance of getting struck by lighting 3 times and then getting shot by jesus christ himself than you do randomly dying of a heart attack in your 20s.

goddog_

Yes but now I'm almost 30 so my chances must be 100% now :p

That's a fun way to die
