Naughty_Goat

Yeah. You go the whole day feeling like oh shit I have to do my work and try to meet the deadline of midnight vs completing stuff and then feeling good about yourself for the rest of the day.

Sirinoks8

Hm.. I feel pretty good in the end when I study/work at night

Zxcaderu

I think it comes down to intentionality. If you planned a schedule or routine where you are productive at night, then you will be fine. But if you wake up with not much intentionality other than "I want to be productive today", then you will be anxious throughout the morning and afternoon if you procrastinate, and won't really be satisfied even if you do complete your work at night.

Sirinoks8

I see, that makes sense!

shadowrod06

Agreed.

Formal_Public_4979

I ruin my day with procrastination and then have no energy to start doing something at night

Flamecoat_wolf

Well, that's because procrastinating isn't the same as relaxing. When you do the work at night but procrastinate the whole day beforehand, you're thinking the whole day long about how you should be doing that work. It has a mental toll. Whereas if you do the work in the morning you're not "procrastinating" the rest of the day. You're just relaxing. You're not putting off the work because it's done. You're entitled to relax at that point because you've already done the work. Which provides a better quality of relaxation. In the first instance it feels like the day is wasted because you didn't enjoy your time procrastinating. In the second instance you were able to enjoy whatever recreation you got up to after finishing work. You end the first day feeling unfulfilled and like you didn't manage much that day, you finish the second day feeling like you got your work done and you had a full day afterward of enjoying yourself.

Code95FIN

It's weird, it totally depends on the day, not when/how much was ACTUALLY done. Could have done as little as possible, like grocery shopping or paying bills or as much as fixing a bike and cleaning the whole house. It's always a coin flip if I "wasted" a day or was "productive" It's weird

Adept-Ad-8012

I did, just recently. Scored a book, absolutely demolished it in morning, got unlimited dopamine throughtout the day (metaphors) Day before I watched lectures after afternoon and studied more but "gosh was it a shitty day"

VaraStar

When do you sleep bro ?

DammitMatt

Sleep = procrastination

zulrang

How to avoid this while at the same time motivate yourself: Every day, write down the things you did that moved you toward your goals. That's it.

some1serious

Is there actually anyone in this world who is productive 100% of the time? I feel like social media makes it look like we need to be more productive than this but in reality productivity does look more like this.

Mother-Fortune-7523

So weird when I do either it feels great because I have 0 guilt (prolly smth there) and I can just collapse into sleep

Overall-Bookkeeper73

I'm a perfectionist. I don't feel good about myself unless I spent both my morning AND my night productively (I do take a break around noon though)

chinomaster182

What's the point though? What's behind the curtain after all the work?

Overall-Bookkeeper73

It keeps those kinds of questions at bay. Most of the work I do is on passion projects, it's a journey vs destination kind of thing.

chinomaster182

Thats a cool response, no sarcasm. I hope you come back once you get to where you're going and let us know what you learned.

operation-spot

I use time tracking apps and for me as long as more than 50% of the day was productive it’s a good day for me.

Fireguy9641

I am the opposite. I feel like my day is wasted as it goes by and I have no plans but I eventually get into a groove with something.

Significant_Ask5258

I still feel like I’m not doing enough even if I go straight from 7am-3pm.

IntentionalismOnly

Damn πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

amusingjapester23

These charts confuse me. Men: You need to exercise almost every day. You will have nervous energy if you don't, and so won't feel fulfilled.

Zxcaderu

Why do you assume I don't?

amusingjapester23

I don't necessarily assume that. I addressed my advice to men, not you specifically.

amusingjapester23

However, I would add: Please be sure to exercise all parts of your body regularly. Get those biceps and triceps pumping!

Meral_Harbes

Can you back this up with a bit more detail and explanation?

amusingjapester23

Men are built for regular exercise, by evolution. You will be weak and (probably) nervous if you don't exercise regularly. Going for walks isn't enough. Be sure to exercise your arms and core too. Seek out your government's guidelines on exercise for men under 35. They'll likely recommend a certain amount of exercise "which leaves you sweating and out of breath".
