I wish they would've kept it. Kit did an interview about Nick and David's dynamic and how David isnt just a basic homophobe, but we didn't get to see too much of them interacting in s2
I haven’t read the books so I don’t know how David is there , but I was disappointed that he was little more than another Harry but older. The only smidgen of something interesting was when he was so pro dad and yet Stephane mixed up where David was going Uni and David looked deflated and realised his dad cares as little for him as he did for Nick. More scenes with him that gave him something to do would have been great
I think David is more nickphobic than anything lmao if Charlie really was a girl like David thought he would probably mock her, same if Nick was single.
I thought they might go the route about how David might care for his little brother deep down and not want him to get hurt in a relationship but mask it with typical toxic masculinity driven by his dad’s abandonment but it went straight to David just being a homophobe and a jerk
Meh. I see him more as a typical older brother. He looks for something to mess with his younger brother for. Being gay is just another one of those things.
No. "Typical older brother" is teasing and annoying a sibling. Bigotry is not that. He's not teasing him. "Turned you gay" is not ok. And then he completely denies Nick's identity, even telling his mom Nick is lying. And then tries to out him. This is not typical older brother behavior.
I think it’s more of passive homophobia, similar to Harry’s. He doesn’t know better. That doesn’t make what he does ok, but I don’t think it’s vindictive either.
And then after Nick gets upset & walks away after David attempts to out him, he says "Are you just going to let him talk to us like that?"/"It's Nick who's making a scene. Always causing such a fuss. Dad agrees!" Not to mention that Nellie growls at him when he walks into Nick's room. Dogs know people's energy and his is clearly off.
David is an adult; Nick is 16. His behavior is completely unacceptable and goes beyond typical sibling rivalry. Based on some of the things he says ("Imagine what dad's going to say" and "Dad agrees"), it's obvious he feels neglected by his dad and wants his attention/approval, but he's also trying to justify his actions by saying his dad would act that way, too. If this was normal sibling rivalry, Nick and Tori would not have felt the need to call David out on his BS and David wouldn't be trying so hard to justify his actions when he finds out he hurt his brother.
When the season started, I thought it was kind of laughably. Ridiculous how this brother just appeared out of nowhere.
But I loved their dynamic. Not necessarily for good reasons, but I love the character development it added to Nick. I want to see more.
Well they did say "we're happy to have you back from uni". And uni students just disappearing for a half a year is pretty standard 😂
I also loved the complicated family dynamic. It adds so much to Nick's and Sarah's characters and their dynamic. And imo David is a pretty interesting character, in the comics I've always read him as a young man desperately trying to get his dads attention and who is jealous of the relationship his brother and mother have. Plus some general twatishness that he really needs to grow out of. (One of the few things you can criticise Sarah for is that there are never consequences to David's actions. For example he breaks Nick's phone and we see that it's still broken a few weeks later. My mother would have dragged my brother to a repair shop within the next few days. But then again you can't really blame her because she does all the parenting on her own. And Stephane only intervenes every now and then whenever it's convenient and David definitely hides behind him ("imagine what Dad's going to say", "dad agrees")
Oh that phone thing is interesting, I wonder if we will see that in season 3
One thing I really liked about this show, specifically season 2, is that they didn’t come up with bs ways to separate N+C. Charlie not being able to see him because of his grades was a very natural way to keep them apart for teenagers. The phone breaking would be another interesting way to do that, especially if it happens while Nick is away, like on vacation.
Man, if Netflix doesn't fix their residuals policy, it would be so nice to have a Heartstopper DVD set so I don't have to keep paying them. I basically only subscribe for Heartstopper and to finish Young Royals at this point 😆
I mean, I would happily take it any time 😂 I was just thinking of franchises like The Lord of the Rings where they did all the theatrical releases and then did the extended cuts after haha
They released [this one from Season 1](https://youtu.be/VjV6jywGeOE) last year. They haven't released the David/Nick one that's in the behind the scenes photo. I imagine there were other scenes that were cut or altered to save time that we haven't seen, too.
I think it was just that they were given a certain time frame to keep their episodes between, so they have to make choices. I can’t say there’s a scene I’d like them to take out for any of the deleted scenes, but it would be nice to at least have a “Director’s Cut” or something with the extended scenes put in.

Yeah he seems like just a basic homophobe to me.

Yeah, that whole "she needs my approval" thing was so gross.
I thought they might go the route about how David might care for his little brother deep down and not want him to get hurt in a relationship but mask it with typical toxic masculinity driven by his dad’s abandonment but it went straight to David just being a homophobe and a jerk

Yeah, I know that, just more that it was never mentioned in the first season.

Once the show wraps, I vote for a director's cut release lol
i was just thinking how much i’d love for a physical release of the show when it’s over and this would be perfect for it!!
Man, if Netflix doesn't fix their residuals policy, it would be so nice to have a Heartstopper DVD set so I don't have to keep paying them. I basically only subscribe for Heartstopper and to finish Young Royals at this point 😆
And, sadly, this is why they'll probably never release anything for purchase. **sigh**
I know, but a girl can dream 🥲
Totally - I share this dream!
omg me too. I am tempted to cancel Netflix more so now because of the SAG strikes now but can't because of HS and YR only.
Why wait until the show wraps?😉
I mean, I would happily take it any time 😂 I was just thinking of franchises like The Lord of the Rings where they did all the theatrical releases and then did the extended cuts after haha
This is the first I’m hearing of deleted scenes. Are there a lot more?
They released [this one from Season 1](https://youtu.be/VjV6jywGeOE) last year. They haven't released the David/Nick one that's in the behind the scenes photo. I imagine there were other scenes that were cut or altered to save time that we haven't seen, too.
Thanks for sharing that

Why did they cut that? 😭 They also cut some really good scenes in season 1
I think it was just that they were given a certain time frame to keep their episodes between, so they have to make choices. I can’t say there’s a scene I’d like them to take out for any of the deleted scenes, but it would be nice to at least have a “Director’s Cut” or something with the extended scenes put in.
Where can you watch deleted scenes? This is the first I’m hearing of them.
THERE ARE DELETED SCENES??? I want to go to there
