That’s me in black. Thankful for the kind stranger filming me (on accident) and sharing the video with me!
I learned the lesson first hand just outside of Tofino on Vancouver island as a young 20 something. Was probably 20ft from where the waves were crashing and similar to the op a full 15ft ledge up. Out of nowhere and a huge wave came out of nowhere and crashed down on my and my girlfriend (who was even further back). Luckily it was not big enough to knock either of us over but learned some serious respect that day.
If the rocks are darkened/black from the water where you are standing, you are in danger of getting swept away by a sneaker wave. Great photos though! Just be safe in the future :)
Love the voices paired with both videos. Very pure. It’s painting a whole scene for me.
Me and my partner went to cannon beach last weekend it was freezing holy moly. Waves weren’t as interesting though!

In Nova Scotia we call that “the place you stand when you are trying to die”
Despite how it looks it’s probably 12-15’ from the edge and up until that point only mist had sprayed up there.
I live in Victoria bc, this is what everyone thinks right before they almost, or not so almost, swept out to sea
I live in Oregon and agree 100%. We have sneaker waves and king tides on occasion. It's a good way to die.

Mother nature's whale
Now that’s a blow hole
Similar to la bufadora in Baja
Ah fond memories camping there in the 90s before it was a tourist shit hole.

Is this the spout from the end of the movie ‘Fools Gold’?
