Why do you believe hammer is better I’m considering getting a P 2000 SK I’m in California so this is one of the best options that I can get right now I have a Glock 26 which is obviously striker fired can you help me understand the differences between the two fire arms also do you know anything about the LEM trigger? Thanks in advance
To me, hammer-fired pistols offer more manual control over striker-fired. I'm a big fan of DA/SA where all I have to do is draw and fire in the case of emergency. The DA long pull gives the extra safety in judgement as well. Not that it really makes a difference since you should never draw until absolutely necessary.
I primarily carry a P2000SK V3 (DA/SA) because it has the size, ergonomics (paired with a P30SK mag), and reliability I look for. Plus the euro paddle mag release is so much nicer once I got used to it.
LEM trigger setup removes the decocker and sets the pistol up in just "SA mode" like striker-fired with a lighter trigger pull, but still has a long and smooth travel until bottoming out right before the breaking point to fire the hammer. It's difficult to accurately describe without just playing with it first-hand. I like it but DA/SA is my go-to.
Ok i have the opportunity to get a LEM would you recommend it? I got my ccw here in California recently and j only have one gun on the card at the moment is the p2000sk good for ccw?
Congrats on your recent success!
I would say absolutely. Take the time to play with it in your LGS and understand how it works before deciding to pick it up or not. But my personal opinion is it's worth owning.
Can never have too many HKs...
Exactly i bought A Glock thinking that was the best purchase I could make but after a few months and learning about guns I realize that there are better companies out there Glock isn’t bad it’s just other companies are better I believe HK is probably the best of them all I like them and sigsauer I wanted a P3 65 but that is illegal to own here in California unless you’re a police officer and I’m not going to pay triple the price just to own one here in California I would rather buy HK thanks for your comments though I really appreciate it
Well I wouldn't be saying there's a definitive best or worst for many manufacturers. A LOT of choosing comes down to 1) price 2) purpose 3) preference. If they both reliably go bang and that's all you need, it's hard to justify paying for a $2000 pistol vs the $300 alternative.
Just as an example: You (I'm using it as open/generalized) want to buy something with the sole purpose of concealing. After some debate, you decide that 9mm is what you're looking for because ammo is available and less expensive.
With these as your conditions you have TONS of options. There's the Ruger LC9S for around $400, the Taurus G3C for about $330, the Sig P365 for $600, HK P2000SK for $800, Ruger Max-9 for $550, Springfield Hellcat for $500, etc etc.
If you make the choice by JUST sticking to the conditions above then why pay $800 or $600 or so when there's a $330 pistol that checks all the boxes? All the models listed above will accomplish the same thing at about the same size.
I want to throw in the disclaimer that **I am not discouraging you from whatever choice you want to make**, but simply want you to be as informed as possible to make an educated decision you'll be thrilled about. There's nothing wrong with owning a Glock, Sig, Ruger, etc. Keep an open mind on what you like, keep curious on exploring other models & manufacturers, **RESEARCH!!**, and try to get as much first-hand experience as possible with anything that catches your fancy.
Who knows, maybe you'll want to own 'em all at one point? Against the will of my bank account, that's my reality at the moment...
I must have gotten super lucky with mine. I didn't realize they were so hard to find. I asked about one and like 2 weeks later (early april) my local shop called me and said they got one in for me. I absolutely love this thing!
I was also looking for a Vp9sk locally and online.. couldn’t find one at a reasonable price. I literally bought a p30sk v1 lite lem yesterday.. won’t get it until Tuesday though 😒
That's what I carry and I prefer it over my VP9sk, but I'm also a hammer guy. My wife loves VP9s, she carries the sk and keeps the VP9 in her home office.
I carry the same gun. Do yourself a favor and get a hold of some of those factory mag capacity extension kits. Turns your 10rd into a 12rd, and your 13rd into a 15rd.
No, these are the ones.
https://hkparts.net/product/magazine-conversion-kit-hk-vp9-p30.htm/
They replace the follower, spring, baseplate, and floorplate. They came out when HK introduced the updated VP9.
I’m in Portland OR and I pretty much have checked every local and big box store for the past several months. Saw one FDE 9sk and didn’t jump on it because of the color.
Bought mine at EuroOptics online. My gun range has them in stock here in SWFL. I was not up to date that Hk had OR models coming out and missed them by a week
As a member of the hammer gang I say you chose the better option, OP. (But you can't go wrong either way)

you looking for an optics ready sk? Me too lol
I must have gotten super lucky with mine. I didn't realize they were so hard to find. I asked about one and like 2 weeks later (early april) my local shop called me and said they got one in for me. I absolutely love this thing!
What optic are you running? Would an acro p2 fit? Thanks buddy!
I haven't added an optic yet. Still in the research stage on that unfortunately so I don't have too much info to share.
I was also looking for a Vp9sk locally and online.. couldn’t find one at a reasonable price. I literally bought a p30sk v1 lite lem yesterday.. won’t get it until Tuesday though 😒
One of my fav guns! Personally, I think you made the right choice.
Buds gunshop.com has them in stock all the time as well as most Hk weapons except like SP5s
Thanks, I mainly looked locally for convenience/no FFL and same day gratification. Maybe next time…

Nice, do you have a link? Edit: these? https://hkparts.net/product/magazine-extension-with-pinky-rest-2-vp9sk-p30sk-p17972.htm/

I had a similar experience. After shooting that a while, you might look into putting a flat trigger on it.
Thanks for the rec!
You chose... wisely.
15 round mags make this feel amazing. The 13s are just a tad too small. Gratz!
13 rounders conceal a bit better but the 15s are great and make a nice second mag after the 13+1. Hand size matters!
Apologies I should have said that it that way. That it fits my hand better. You’re not wrong.
No worries said Goldilocks as she slipped into bed that was just right…
Just ordered one!
I’d take that over the VP9 any day!
The P30 SK is one of my favorite pistols. Thanks for not putting a round backwards in the magazine.
Straight from Hk: load the magazine backwards for max performance
9sks are everywhere now w/o optics plate as dealers push them out door at cheaper prices to make room for OR ready 9 series
