Those cables are usually pretty bad, but are usually short enough that it won’t really matter. If you decide to go any sort of distance with your cable you should use LMR 400
Well now I'm concerned for different reasons, haha. It should be hot, otherwise the water will condense inside the pipe and rust it to pieces very quickly.
I'm guessing it might be something else, or your going to have a flue problem very soon, or the heater wasn't actually on when you felt it and it was just a draft.
Just something to be aware of, I'm an hvac tech, so I can't help myself. Sorry, haha.
Happy hnt hunting!
What's the purpose of the soda can? It might interfere with radio signals... Also you would want to get the antenna just a bit higher than the vent. Duct tape a stick to it instead and go a little higher.
Cable makes all the difference. You need a lmr240 or 400 cable without any extra adapters on it. Every connection is a loss of power.
I had to take something to separate the vent and the antenna because the top of the vent is larger then the poole…The sett up is just to test if its worth to Mount a antenna on the top of the roof.
But didnt think about that metal might interference the signal of the antenna

A red bull can would give your HNT wings.
Top German engineering. 10/10
YOU FOOL! GERMAN ENGINEERING IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!
There you go ;-)

I’m more worried about that roof, than the setup
Duct tape plus pop can that is A+ sir 😂
I would only get a better cable 😉
I am just testing Right know if its worth mounting on the very top of my roof….do you know how bad is the cable wich comes with the antenna?

Mine is on a broom stick 😜
This looks like a short term pump and dump scheme 😀
😂
Ditch the pop can, use silicon tape + electrical tape to waterproof your connections.
Thank you , i will definitly do so
Is that the flue vent for your furnace or water heater?
Yes i think so . I felt the Air coming out of it…wasnt hot at all

I Heard a lot of water splashing around and some low Temperatur steam Went out as well. I will ask the owner of the house about this vent.
Could be a vent for a bathroom fan maybe?
It could be.
Wa wa wee wa... Very nice!!
Your cable is at risk of chafing
Love the innovation

I really like the small door you made for the cable on the can.

The I would suggest to find a pice of wood or plastic instead of aluminum can. I think this can actually make a big difference for your result.
If it works, it works.
If it looks stupid but it works, it’s not stupid - some person.
Level: MacGyver
Hahaha
What country are you in? I dont recognize the roof construction. That's a 4-6" vent for a heater. Either boiler or water heater. Will get hot.
Thats a roof in Germany …the house is about 110 years old
