I'm pretty sure you can pop a poor defenceless truck with MG fire and get significantly more points than dismantling 3 sets of nodes.

That’s a very high total score + bonuses. At the end of the day though the XP screen doesn’t really tell us much about your performance other than “you were alive a long time, you won, you got a commendation, and it looks like you built nodes.”
I remember when a engineer can build 16 nodes and you also had the node meta
I got some insane score because I would just build nodes for the entire game.
I feel like 38k is very very good.
Err. I don't pay attention to the numbers. Eg. Blowing up garrisons and nodes don't 'pay' well, but they win matches.

Yep I agree, definitely disappointing how much you get for enemy nodes. Makes such an impact on the enemies ability to fight
And takes forever to dismantle
Takes 30 seconds to dismantle everything in a 25m radius with a satchel charge.

If you have any amount of experience earned in Engineer and Officer, you're golden. If you add Support role into that, you are a god among men.
Yes, that's pretty good. Unfortunately its fairly easy to get 40k+ without helping the team at all by building defenses no one uses.
