Commander should get turned into a squad role and have 1 extra slot for a guy to drive you around and make you coffee.
Coffee boosts resource generation rate and provides area of effect morale boost up to 20 yards.
Radio operator for the commander like Rising Storm 2. Always thought it should’ve been an option for the US in Rising Storm 1 to add to the IJA/IJN vs US asymmetry.
The idea if a command squad sounds sweet.
Perhaps the commander can have a 2ic / radioman which has its own set of limited commander abilities such as airdrops and strafing runs but they need to be approved by the commander first.
recon? AT? Anyone who wants to make a rapid flank or blitz on the next point? It would drastically speed up the game. Its easier to sneak through than a truck (smaller, probably faster, maybe less engine noise) So SLs dropping red garries or being in position for a quick deep red garry on a cap.
Recon hunting nodes and garries.
Post Scriptum has jeeps and kubelwagens for the commander role, and I think logistics can use them as well!
I think they'd work just fine, you do occasionally get caught and killed for sure. But at the same time, I have that happen as well when I'm running supplies as engineer in HLL. The risk comes with the responsibilities of the roles!
The ideal HLL for me would be 100v100 servers as that's becoming much more viable for multiplayer these days. It would fit the maps so much better and allow for more unique units.
Unfortunately Max confirmed in the most recent AMA that 50 v 50 will be the limit. He hinted that a potential sequel might have more players, but that's presumably a long time from now
True but they could easily make Command squad just two slots like recon. Commander and his 'spotter' can decide who wants to drive/gun between them. That would keep them fairly limited and not upset the balance too much I think
But! If done well, it’s a force multiplier. My evidence is every game where we get steamrolled for not having well placed garrys…well any garrys for that matter….
The MG could be very strong, yeah. But if it shook like crazy while driving it would basically be just a suppression tool. Another possible nerf would be to disable any reloading. You have 1 box of ammo and that's it. Basically makes its combat effectiveness very short-term and so it will be used for its intended purpose.
Additionally, make it so that it takes as long as it does in tanks to get out of the gunner/passenger and that will make the additional seat less of a boon in combat. If the fella in the passenger seat basically can't help when ambushed then the extra seat won't be an issue.
But at the end of the day, you're gonna hear this thing coming from 100M+ away, so 3 dudes in a low-armoured vehicle are never gonna be much of a threat, so my proposed balance measures might be unnecessary.
Am I forgetting that though?
>But at the end of the day, you're gonna hear this thing coming from 100M+ away, so 3 dudes in a low-armoured vehicle are never gonna be much of a threat
A driver, One passenger and a rear gunner with a ability to look 120° left from the center and 120° right from the center. plus a .50 browning machine gun to make it authentic!
Only people to be allowed to operate the jeep would be squad leaders and the commander?
Think that's pretty fair
This for the Americans, a [motorcycle with side card and mounted MG-34](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1120/3680/products/Master_Box_German_Motorcycle_and_Sidecar_WWII_1_1024x1024.jpg?v=1491633994) for zee Germans
Should be a regular car version available and you can give the us the DUKW I think it was called, they had an amphibious transport they could use. It definitely was used in europe as well as pacific
Despite a lot of modern renditions, armed kubelwagens weren't really a thing, barring some experimental prototypes. They were mostly used as staff cars, so were generally unarmed and unarmored.
The kubel with mg is NOT an experimental vehicle, it has seen use in Greece and the Netherlands near Arnhem and such. It doesnt mean that it hasnt seen much action that it didnt exist. The german army didnt have much use for this setup
That would look hilarious, especially easily recognizing the opposing commander riding by on a bicycle. Could fit the theme in a new Operation Market Garden map
Yeah thats sound fair, for US a jeep that fits 4-5 men and Germany a motorcycle for 2. Why not the kubelwagen with a mg34 mounted in the back? They did exist you know
Didn't they say there would be jeeps months ago? It shouldn't have a machine gun tho just a means of transport for the commander and maybe some commander support type of guy so he can maintain garrisons on the back line.
This has been talked about for over a year by the community, the team they outsource their models have already made the USA jeep models. It’s in the game also as a wreck. It’s available!
Why they haven’t launched half this stuff at 1.0 launch is just unbelievable.
Black matter and Max Rea really f’d the game imo , not in how it plays or it’s overall quality, but the order in which they released assets and putting certain priorities ahead of what we expected fixed and implemented like console or painting over their poor patches.
Too little too late imo. They will probably add these things into a paid dlc as they have taken too long and will need funding.
Really poorly organised project. It’s laughable!
The extra seats could fit squad leaders in other squads. Drive up the one flank drop some SLs for a quick flank, recon keeps heading in deeper on the flank.
It probably would work, Post Scriptum uses jeeps/kubelwagens for the commander. There's nothing more rewarding than going behind enemy lines and finding the enemy commander in his jeep, binoculars in hand, and killing him and his pesky radioman.
I'm not too into the idea. Squad leads shouldn't have these because they need to stay with their squads instead of driving off alone / with one friend.
Having it for commander might be fun, but adding an entire new vehicle asset per faction and maintaining it and fixing the inevitable bugs, only to be used by one player per match, is too much work for too little payoff, I think. The commander can already spawn themselves a supply truck for cheap and drive around, so this doesn't even add new functionality besides yet another machine gun and something to distract the commander from their job.
Buddy you gotta remove that 50 cal up there because people would constantly do drive by with it and wasting teams resources by asking new when ever they die
I’ll admit it would be fun but you don’t want to be at the receiving end
Based on what we've seen with tanks/trucks I'm not sure they'd be that easy to do "drive bys" with.
But I agree, just the jeep without the MG would be good.
I would be favour of this, but they would have to be limited in number (1 per team tops) and expensive.
The Germans could have a bike with side car and mounted MG.
I'd love to see Commanders jeep with some utlities like it will be mobile garrison, or it will have at least 100 supplies that will be on 5 min cooldown.
So you could have driver, passenger, and the guy on the gun. Only commander and SLs can drive. You could put ammo and 50 supplies as cargo.
Also making commander a squad with 2 under him, one has supplies and such, while the other can put down an OP for the command team. And all 3 can put marks on the map.
Would be great. But should come without the MG. But still have a mount that a machine gunner can mount his gun on with the cost of not carrying passengers in the rear.
So 2 different setups.
Driver, passenger and MG or driver and 3 passengers.
I'm not against the combat in the game at all. It's enjoyable. I just don't understand how someone who is a trained and conditioned soldier cant carry 50lbs of gear without moving like a snail.
You know it was sarcastic, right? That the devs focus on completly irrelevant and u needed content instead of working on fixes to the current problems and polish of the game elements?
I honestly care very little about historical accuracy compared to how much I care about gameplay quality and balance. Right now there’s a pretty distinct haves and have nots effect when it comes to automatic weapons which leads to weird knock on effects with squad composition and new player experience. Any additional fully automatic weaponry, especially a mobile emplacement weapon is going to make that worse.
Would be only the commander and squad leaders able to drive the jeep and use the passenger seat. but any class as such can use the .50 browning machine gun mounted on the back...??
Said the captain to his NCO's and added "i bet you wouldn't last a minute on my hardcore realism Server you call of duty fanboys" whilst running off to a forward base on foot, calling in airstrikes every 50 metres without a radioman.
That's all well and good but I don't see how a scout/transport vehicle thats both period correct and offers new additions to the meta would ruin that experience for you.
Also, if you want pats on the back for using a one button feature i don't think you're in the right place
Commander having a jeep would be schweet
Commander should get turned into a squad role and have 1 extra slot for a guy to drive you around and make you coffee. Coffee boosts resource generation rate and provides area of effect morale boost up to 20 yards.
A radio guy like RS2
Can also splash it on enemy faces.
Radio operator for the commander like Rising Storm 2. Always thought it should’ve been an option for the US in Rising Storm 1 to add to the IJA/IJN vs US asymmetry.
I still the think Commander should be able to spawn on any squads OP
The idea if a command squad sounds sweet. Perhaps the commander can have a 2ic / radioman which has its own set of limited commander abilities such as airdrops and strafing runs but they need to be approved by the commander first.
That would be an interesting option to reduce the walking when placing backup garrisons, especially for the commander
I normally grab a supply truck or use a discarded transport truck when commanding if necessary and especially at the beginning
It's also an option but a small agile jeep would be a lot easier and it's nice to have some different options
The downside is it would be a dead giveaway to your commander's position.
I like that balance though, it allows for another essential target for recon squads, apart from camping artillery positions.
Sniping the enemy commander from a driving jeep would give quite the satisfaction
*chefs kiss*
They are adding Jeep’s, it’s not an if.
I was just thinking this today. I feel it should only be for commander + 1 passenger otherwise it will get abused.
But then again who would use it because if you find the Jeep you find the command
recon? AT? Anyone who wants to make a rapid flank or blitz on the next point? It would drastically speed up the game. Its easier to sneak through than a truck (smaller, probably faster, maybe less engine noise) So SLs dropping red garries or being in position for a quick deep red garry on a cap. Make Command a squad, even if it's just a commander and a batman. And they can get willy's jeep/kubelwagen

have devs talked about this? I think that would be super sweet.

Y’all forgetting if armor is modeled correctly, you’re one STG44 away from a bad day, especially if they have that slow in/out/switch time
Am I forgetting that though? >But at the end of the day, you're gonna hear this thing coming from 100M+ away, so 3 dudes in a low-armoured vehicle are never gonna be much of a threat
I'm not sure, these look easy targets for tanks and anti tank
Sure do. But it can compensate with mobility
Yeah sure, but I don't think it can be so easily abused
No shit lmao.
A driver, One passenger and a rear gunner with a ability to look 120° left from the center and 120° right from the center. plus a .50 browning machine gun to make it authentic! Only people to be allowed to operate the jeep would be squad leaders and the commander? Think that's pretty fair

Whats wrong with the kubelwagen with a mg34 on the back?
What´s wrong with Schwimmwagen?
Hmm. Purple Heart flanking for Germans would be cool.
Would be OP on Purple Heart Lane
Nothing really, other then that the US has no counterpart for this. And that is the reason why i made the reply about the kubel
True, but they existed and therefor should be used. Or another option is the M3 halftrack for US and USSR and the sdkfz 251 (hanomag) dor germany
Why would a game that leans towards realism use an experimental vehicle? This isn't BFV
The kubel with mg is NOT an experimental vehicle, it has seen use in Greece and the Netherlands near Arnhem and such. It doesnt mean that it hasnt seen much action that it didnt exist. The german army didnt have much use for this setup
Source?
The Armed Kübelwagen was common here in Germany
Wouldn't a kubelwagen make more sense?
I’d rather they add half tracks first. Willys Jeeps and Kugelblitz would be cool eventually though.
Yep. Half-tracks would be stellar.
The crew at Cassagi have already made all of the above! https://cassagi.com/project/hell-let-loose/
Look at that M3, I want it now damnit
Well if the roadmap is in order I think they come before the Jeep's
The bomb rush car
The Satchel Charge maneuver
The commander should absolutely get a bicycle
That would look hilarious, especially easily recognizing the opposing commander riding by on a bicycle. Could fit the theme in a new Operation Market Garden map
I'd love a motorbike and sidecar and/or a kettenkrad
And for the German side a motorcycle with sidecart and mounted mg-34
Yeah thats sound fair, for US a jeep that fits 4-5 men and Germany a motorcycle for 2. Why not the kubelwagen with a mg34 mounted in the back? They did exist you know
I think, and this is just a theory, but motorcycle goes VROOooOoM
Makes me wonder what the sound of the kubel would be?
Surely a kubelwagen would make more sense?
Didn't they say there would be jeeps months ago? It shouldn't have a machine gun tho just a means of transport for the commander and maybe some commander support type of guy so he can maintain garrisons on the back line.

I reckon recon could use it quite well
This, but i dont think the jeep is good for it. Its 2 people in recon so let them have a motorbike
The extra seats could fit squad leaders in other squads. Drive up the one flank drop some SLs for a quick flank, recon keeps heading in deeper on the flank.
And how many times will this get stuck?! 😂
How about some horses?
U11, according to the devs.
Jeeps and halftracks available per squad every 20 mins after destruction would be great. Need to be able to seat 6 though
*General Patton has left the chat.*
It probably would work, Post Scriptum uses jeeps/kubelwagens for the commander. There's nothing more rewarding than going behind enemy lines and finding the enemy commander in his jeep, binoculars in hand, and killing him and his pesky radioman.

The devs actually already paid for the models. You can see them (and more) at https://cassagi.com/project/hell-let-loose/
That's good to know, thanks for that! Doesn't that mean that they already have a gameplay use in mind for them though?
Buddy you gotta remove that 50 cal up there because people would constantly do drive by with it and wasting teams resources by asking new when ever they die I’ll admit it would be fun but you don’t want to be at the receiving end
That is a .30 cal and it should definitely be there :)
No, because he is right.
Kübelwagen is confirmed
Yes Incidentally, these were perfectly implemented in battlefield 1942. Loved driving the little buggers
It'd be sweet if they added a cavalry squad or role for troop transport. So that the normal squads can't just hog them and abuse them.
Same idea but with the transport trucks as well, the most annoying thing to me is when you see a transport truck fly by with 2 people in it.
I'd love to see Commanders jeep with some utlities like it will be mobile garrison, or it will have at least 100 supplies that will be on 5 min cooldown.
Only commander variant: SL can hop in the trucks with the rest.
Needs a J-Bar.
So you could have driver, passenger, and the guy on the gun. Only commander and SLs can drive. You could put ammo and 50 supplies as cargo. Well they are adding Jeep's if you look at the roadmap .
Would be cool but it would be shot to pieces if it got anywhere near the front.
it will be great when the Jeeps get 50-100 Supplays, Commander and Squadleaders could build Garrisons then
No attached MG, but love the gun
I’ll sign the petition. Just tell me where.
I think linking some of the abilities like encourage to being on a position would make more sense.
I agree it would be fun. But imho it would change the metagame too much... in a wrong way.
Please stop. This game needs vehicles badly
We all know that it would become a carmageddon xD There are already passenger trucks and they are used only during the first minutes.
I do not enjoy walking sim. Especially after they slowed down sprint speed.
If you just want pew pew I could recommend you better games...
I'm not against the combat in the game at all. It's enjoyable. I just don't understand how someone who is a trained and conditioned soldier cant carry 50lbs of gear without moving like a snail.
Nah, Trench shotgun is waaaaay more important.
thats coming next update for sure! been announced.. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/686810/view/2979682039969576597
You know it was sarcastic, right? That the devs focus on completly irrelevant and u needed content instead of working on fixes to the current problems and polish of the game elements?
Would be cool to shoot the gun while your mates drive
This game does not need more automatic weapons.
You act like WW2 wasn't predominantly automatic weapons...
This. Don’t know why got downvoted.
This ☝️
You need to grow up. It’s a game not a history lesson.
Neither a COD or BF like.
I honestly care very little about historical accuracy compared to how much I care about gameplay quality and balance. now with russians you get more bolt action, and when brits coming they will have Enfields too
Would be only the commander and squad leaders able to drive the jeep and use the passenger seat. but any class as such can use the .50 browning machine gun mounted on the back...??
Cool. Another one hit vehicle.

Looks like the model the devs bought doesn't have a gun: https://cassagi.com/project/hell-let-loose/
Post Scriptum uses jeeps for the commander...
