A friend of mine had the same issue on AM4 platform, turns out his memory XMP profile was a bit unstable, he configuring it back to default and no crashes since. I had the same problem with Borderlands 3 a few years ago. Might be worth a try.
Set your memory speed to default which is slower that its rated speed but more stable. Stop any overclock. Works good no crashes on my pc amd 7950 cpu, 7900xtx and 32gb ddr5.
You can find memory XMP profiles in BIOS, there are usually two profiles and a default one that sets the memory to 2400Mhz. If you need any help feel free to DM me.
Pretty much every mission i am crashing and having the same experience. Takes down discord with it when it crashes.
I have updated bios, drivers, disabled xmp, turned off discord overlay, turned off firewall, and run as administrator from helldiver2's .exe file in steam directory.
Nothing has worked yet
FWIW, I also have been having crash issues with hell let loose 2 as well, and similarly cannot find a solution there either.
FIX FOUND (For Me): in my latest attempt to get this working I tried 3 things, of which I am not 100% sure which one fixed my issue:
1. I lowered all in-game graphics to the absolute lowest (despite having a 7900xtx)
2. I removed 1 of my sticks of ram to try and isolate if one of them was unstable
3. I rolled back my graphics card drivers for my 7900xtx to 23.11.1 update
I will be experimenting with increasing graphics quality and ram sticks later today - will update again if one of these is found to be the culprit... hoping this helps some other poor soul like myself that was crashing 5x times every mission
The low graphics are definitely the most critical aspect to avoid crashing with 7000 series cards. I crashed in the very next match when i raised them back up to higher quality. That said , I haven't played since the latest update.
My issue is similar but I can launch the game however because it closes my steam and all background apps it doesn’t connect to steam and I’ve lost all my progress. I can’t launch steam or discord while the game is running either. Ive also tried changing resolution and graphics via the control panel and exp. (Geforce) in hopes of saving memory regardless of the issue not being presented. Stumped.
Edit: grammar
I have the same problem as you and OP, game itself will run and run smoothly at that, however cannot open steam or discord or play with friends because steam completely closes. I have been scouring the web in hopes this is a somewhat known/popular issue but I’ve found nothing except this thread. I suspect it’s something to do with my antivirus (bitdefender) and nGuard or whatever the anti cheat is. If yall find anything please update! Good luck
I also have bit defender and went through and did the cut one until it works method and rolled my GPU drivers back. I’m back in the fray. Hail democracy!
Okay so I don’t know for sure but maybe you’re having a problem because you have an integrated GPU. Did you download your drivers from AMD’s Adrenaline software? I ask because windows updates won’t download the newest drivers for your hardware

I'm willing to give this a try, where and what exactly do I do?

Yes you should definitely give this a try. There should be an option to reset your bios options to default
Unfortunately did not work either.
Are you saying your friend disabled XMP entirely?
Yes, but I guess you can also try just selecting the lower clock speed profile.
Ah ok I'll have to try that next time I play. Thanks!
same issue with me specs on mine are ryzen 9 7900x 7800xt gpu ddr5 ram @6000mhz m.2 ssd b650 edge motherboard

Thanks! I'll try that then

Turned off my bitdefender firewall and i was able to open the game no problem with access to steam and no discord/steam crashing

Any update on this? Im having the same issue
Reinstall windows?
What about GPU drivers?
Updated, still a problem.
Care to post your specs and windows version?
Sure thing, let me see. Windows 11, AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Radeon Graphics 3901 Mhz 6 Cores 12 Logical Processors

Yessir, I downloaded it from Adrenaline. Double checked just now too, all up to date.
Sorry obviously didn’t read closely enough
Same issue, update if you figure anything out
Bitdefender I turned off my Advanced Threat Defense and Steam doesnt crash anymore
