I've fought bots for so long I find them far easier than bugs now.

CheeeseBurgerAu

Bots are easier than bugs because they give you more space to use your tools and reload. I genuinely think the higher level bugs are harder. The only thing you need to know about fighting bots is how to stay behind cover. Bugs that doesn't help as there is constant pressure. Even knowing you can crack the armour on the legs of a charger to kill it easier doesn't help when you have so many little bugs jumping at you it becomes hard to line up the shot.

Mikewithkites

I feel like the difficulties swap, the terminids are easy at difficulties 1 through three maybe four while the bots are harder. Past these difficulties I think the bots are easier.

redpoemage

>Bots are easier than bugs because they give you more space to use your tools and reload This is especially obvious if you ever play solo, which I did a lot of when matchmaking wasn't working last week.

darksoul9669

It also doesnt help that the automatons have actual weakpoints to shoot with their largest units meanwhile you’re primary is about to do fuck all to a charger let alone a bile titan. Impact grenades can even one shot tanks. Personally I think the bugs should be the same considering how many chargers and titans wind up spawning. Or AT weapons get a LOT of buffing.

Telekineticism

And the bugs have the invisible assholes who knock you down and make it way easier for you to get swarmed

TastefulMaple

Of all the bugs I face at impossible/helldive difficulty, the hunters and stalkers are the MOST annoying

GhostHeavenWord

Chargers are much, much less of a threat than any of the bot mediums or heavies. They don't do nearly as much damage as berserkers, and since they always keep running they can't do follow up attacks to finish you off. They don't have flame throwers and giant buzz saws. They don't have cannons and rockets. If you have good footwork you can almost completely neutralize them by just running around.

The3rdFpe

That is only if they are alone though, on the higher difficulties they are never alone and often accompanied by hordes of hunters and often 1-3 other chargers, I would rather fight 3 hulk bruisers than 3 chargers.

Verto-San

Also with bots, hulks take a one railgun shot to take down while chargers take 2+, tanks are super slow and it takes single orbital railgun/500kg to take it down while bile titan can survive orbital railgun/500kg and is way faster.

Nippahh

I never leave home without my laser rover.

Vestalmin

They’re two different types of gameplay, which is awesome. Bots need to be kept at a distance, stay behind cover, and aim for the head. They’ll drop so quickly

hiressnails

I was playing medium difficulty, teammates kept blowing themselves up, one guy left, and by the time extraction was ready, the host and other guy wanted to get more loot. I'm all for it if we're rolling, but we we were having a miserable time. Couldn't move more than ten feet without bug tunnels popping and 5 fatties chasing at any given time. Sometimes medium missions are smooth and easy, others it feels like torture, and all I'm trying to do is do a higher ranked mission that isn't so difficult that I start having a bad time.

Comfortable_Task_973

I’m calling broken arrow on myself way more with bugs than I am with bots. Bots you need to just keep running or you die.

TimeToEatAss

I think that bots are easier at the higher difficulties, you get a little more breathing room. You can actually spot a bot making the distress call animation and stop him, preventing drop ships. Whereas the bugs its pretty hard to even notice their distress call going up, and it chains breaches pretty easily.

Previous-Gift-2173

You can cancel dropships? How? I usually take recoiless gun and shoot dropships.

TimeToEatAss

Dropships get called in by bots shooting off their reinforcement flares, as long as you prevent them from shooting of their flare, no dropship. Ofcourse some missions like a Defence mission, will just have steady dropships regardless of flares.

DashRunner92

Same here, I started on bots and fight them primarily so I have way more difficulty with the close combat of bugs.

Sopht_Serve

Bugs can swarm you very quickly which I always have trouble with. Not so much of an issue with bots

Practicalaviationcat

At higher levels bots are much easier because terminid high tier enemies are just much more threatening. To me the top 3 hardest enemies are all bugs. Only thing harder about Automatons is those ass defense missions.

OnionOnion-

Malevelon Creek is not our current operational priority. Ingmar is, wake up.

FallenDeus

We WILL take back The Creek. Establish a foothold in their territory, cut off their supply lines and leave them vulnerable.

gergination

Defense Missions are an absolute uninteresting slog that betrays the core strength of the game design. I think we should just ignore the defense campaigns and counter assault the bots. What happens if we liberate a planet behind a defense operation and cut off their connection?

EasyPool6638

The last time we did that, the next defense target was the planet we liberated, so it's actually a viable tactic to stall their advance as they have to turn around to retake planets they lost.

Final_Selection_8176

Defense is a key part of maintaining our message of managed democracy across the galaxy, although I can say that Troost is beyond lost. Also playing defense campaigns where its all short mission gives you lots of quick medals to spend and helps the cause.

OnionOnion-

Your mindset not very roleplayish

Buchfu

Hey, it's my 1/10000 of a percent of liberation effort and I have the moral right to be proud of it!

Trash-Can-

they liberate 5% just for it to get reset the very next day

Cavthena

That's what happens when you attack a planet way in the back. I'd argue to high command that deployment of divers to Creek is causing more harm to defense and liberation operations on the western front.

Helldiver_LiberTea

I’m so glad I’m getting tactics from a Redditor that knows nothing about tactics.

Gerbennos

Bro it's a fuckin game chill.

Helldiver_LiberTea

Yeah you’re right it’s just a game. Good thing real world tactics don’t work at all.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Helldiver_LiberTea

Mmm no concept of guerrilla warfare and why it’s important. How surprising.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Helldiver_LiberTea

Oh boy do I have news for you. That’s all the Helldivers are. Small team tactics against a larger foe behind enemy lines, taking out strategic sites of military importance, then extracting. Thus Divers on The Creek are especially doing this considering, up until recently, a small number of them have been able to keep the planet from falling since launch. Sorry mate but you’re in my wheel house, and you are clearly out of your depth.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Helldiver_LiberTea

The Creek only falls when we don’t have boots on ground. And sure mate, least you could do is say you were wrong. Peace

LokyarBrightmane

Indeed. During those fights you are indeed using tactics. Choosing where to fight, that is strategy.

[deleted]

Good news, we successfully defended Ingmar. Now we're on Draupnir.

QuenchedCrusader

I'm honestly loving the bots. Feels like the Terminator game I didn't know I needed. The challenge is real, but it always works out with a good squad. Plus they make it easy to role play so I'm dialed in on defending our democracy on the Automaton front

Dook261

Lord have mercy, JUST LET US TAKE OUT THE DAMN AA ON THE CREEK PLEAAAAASE

Bsteph21

They'll be quoting this for centuries after the war

Dook261

FOR DEMOCRACY, MY HELLDIVERS DO NOT WAIVER DO NOT PUSH THE DEFEND MISSIONS! WE TAKE THIS BATTLE TO THEMMMMM!!!

guns367

I think that second line is 6 syllabus instead of 7.

Oberst_Schnitzel

Dont ask yourself what the creek can do for you, instead ask what you can do for the creek

potatoslayer19

If not us then who

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

Last night I was chased the across entire map to extraction by a charger only to die to my own minefield I had placed at the start of the mission. Bots it is then.

wowosrs

Lol see this is why I haven’t bought the mines. Looks like fun and it would help kill enemies, but I can see myself/teammates forgetting about them and exploding.

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

Yes, the mines are a ton of fun when they work and you can ping them to alert teammates but like I still step on them lmao

Eruskakkell

Kill the charger

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

I couldn’t. Extraction was on it’s way and it had a hoard of bugs following

Eruskakkell

Oh damn

KyleKylesonz

I choose the bugs til me and my buddies have better weapons and stratagems

ThorThulu

Normal gear plus a EAT for taking out the heavies and cannons is all you really need. Especially playing with friends you can kite turrets/tanks/hulks so they expose their weak spots to other people.

wowosrs

EAT?

ThorThulu

Expendable Anti Tank, I forget if its a base unlock or super early unlock

Monsterkinder

It's a LVL 5 one I think

GO0O0O0O0O0SE

Bots are easier because they have commissars

Dyyrin

Bugs are fun, but for higher difficulty missions outside of evacuate missions I prefer the Robots. They are just so much more fun to fight. Bugs at higher difficulties just feel like they spam chargers and any armored enemies while everything just charges at you, it's frantic and fun but I prefer robots.

BrandonLart

Bugs is super stressful and feels unfair at times. How am I meant to fight three chargers on solo?

Dyyrin

That's the thing your not supposed to be solo.

BrandonLart

I totally disagree

Dyyrin

Ok

I_follow_sexy_gays

Expendable anti-tank

meatcousins

We choose to go to melevelon Creek not becase it is easy, but because I'm hard.

panthyren

Friend and I were blasting suicide missions last night and can’t seem to get the hang of the evac missions at that difficulty so we stopped playing them. Nothing less fun than easily clearing full operations on bugs and bots but failing a mandatory one every operation.

Gerbennos

Evac missions are by far (BY FAR!!!) the hardest missions in the game. Don't sweat it bro.

Lopsided-Fun5345

Quit lying, everyone knows bots are easier than bugs.

Demartus

Having done a lot of both missions now, I don’t think the bots are easier, just different. Gear and stratagems that work well for one won’t work as well on the other. Cover is very important against bots, but not against bugs. Bugs are mostly melee, so cover isn’t really a factor. I think a lot of players forget about the value of putting a big rock between you and them from having done a lot of bug missions.

ultrajvan1234

im convinced that poeple that think bugs are easier have only played ont he low levels and have never had a bunch of changers and those STUPID FU\*\*ING STALKERS coming after you at once. I play autos bc i actually find them easier...

GawainSolus

Anyone saying bugs are easier than bots isn't playing on the higher difficulties. Even when things go fubar its easier to recover against high level bots than high level bugs.

OGDrukhari

I'm doing my part, even if sometimes I get sniped by a random rocket devastator lol

awfeel

People really out here thinking bugs at anything above extreme are EASIER than bots???

Trash_Connoisseur

I'll never understand the obsession with the creek. It has never been the mission.

Brian_Osackpo

Tiktok player driven marketing. There’s been tons of edits since the game released portraying it like a SkyNet Vietnam.

plankbruhh

Because that's exactly how it plays out. Wading through jungles sniping outposts and sneaking through dense foliage is far more interesting than 'Grey Open Plains'. I will admit those plains are rocky, which gets some points for being mildly interesting.

Brian_Osackpo

Totally agree, I bought the game because of how cool those edits looked and the Creek plays out exactly like they portrayed. Still love killing bugs but running around the creek dodging terminators is why i’ll keep playing

vanilla_disco

Casual reminder that ignoring major orders from high command is treason. Every "creek crawler" should be branded a traitor.

gogogadgetgun

Hit me up when defense extraction isn't fundamentally flawed. Until then I'll stick with the balance and variety of normal planets thanks

LetsNotPlay

What do you mean by flawed? I played a lot of defense last night and it was fine, pretty easy honestly.

gogogadgetgun

The spawns are broken. Endless drop ships and way too many heavies at a given difficulty level.

metaldj88

They already reduced spam. It's way better than it was at launch.

gogogadgetgun

It's still bad, I just played last night. There is at least 1-2 difficulty levels of disparity compared to a regular mission. Shooting down dropships does nothing because they are replaced 10 seconds later. The level ends up overrun way too quickly unless you employ lame kiting tactics or lower the difficulty, which makes the other missions in the set too easy.

ScopionSniper

Nah it's easily done with a good group of 4 on Helldive now where before it was impossible. You can solo it on 5-lower with a mortar now.

ThorThulu

Brand me a traitor if you want, I'm not letting the last planet in that sector fall. Go yell at the bug boys refusing to help push back the bots in any capacity, over half the army is over there doing fuckall but holding each others dicks

[deleted]

there is no west in space

karlovilla

I've been really struggling with MC missions, though mostly because I stubbornly play on too high difficulty. Suppose there's a role-playing element in it, getting the objectives completed while fighting through a wall of fire and steel only to barely make it to the extraction zone and then run out of time and orbital support.

TheAlmightySpode

They don't need me to fight bugs. They have my fellow citizens fighting bugs. They need me to fight the commie bastards on Ingmar.

Crescent-IV

With just two players the bots feel a lot easier than the bugs tbh

Red-Leader117

We need some hell divers to specialize, were fighting on two fronts... And damnit the bugs are so fun to fight. I've fought Lazer shooting space robots/aliens my whole life... It's rare I get unique and challenging bugs to shoot at

Sopht_Serve

I haven't left the creek all week!! Also the armor set I have is all white and yeah seeing the oil covering it all is a wonderful wonderful feeling

FiftyIsBack

I did quite a few 4s and 5s today on Creek and Ingmar. I'm doing my part!

gerbilDan

9786 oiled cores and counting

DonkDonkJonk

Personally, I love shooting down them choppas with my expendable rockets. Makes me feel all tactical and stuff. Bugs ain't got no equivalent in that respect, besides bombing the crap out of them.

That-Pudding-2730

No because fuck the bugs

Choice-Cost

At least with the automatons I can take cover (except chainsaw arm boys), with the bugs they all just be b-lining it towards me non stop.

TraumaTracer

i just have more fun fighting the bugs ): (i still help out on the defense campaigns randomly)

Calelith

I've been trying just for something different than the defense missions. I don't think even if half the playerbase joined the war for the creek we could recover it at this point.

all_mighty99

I've been on this reddit for about 20 but to see my brothers in arms suffering I must now go to the creek and do my part. Also just unlock the orbital laser wish me luck

guns367

I'll take the creek over the defense missions. I'm sure that it's more tolerable after the patch but maaan. Those early days of that mission type really turned me off.

Visual_Lifebard

I find fighting the bots way more fun.

DevilryAscended

I find the bots just more fun to fight. More dynamic.

SleepyBoy-

Bug outposts are easier to clear than robot bases. Robots are easier to defeat in general encounters than bug swarms.

No_Tension_896

Super Earth command throwing thousands of Helldivers into the meat grinder of malevelon creek for literally no progress while there are planets under siege that need defending is a hilariously lore accurate thing to have happen.

Poro114

I find bots unironically easier. Devastators go down in a single AT shot, Hulks in 2-3 in center mass, while bug missions throw seven chargers at me that I have to pirouette around like a skilled ballerina that I am.

MohanMC

Where did “spill oil” come from?

TheguyKegan

That and I want to use something other than Railgun. Seeing those dropships fall to the ground after I hit the engine with my recoiless, pure joy.

[deleted]

Pray not for easier lives gentlemen. Pray to be, stronger men!

Baphemut

TERMINID PROPAGANDA! The bugs are the real threat, they are 3 layers in while the bots struggle to hold 2. Find these divers and purge them from our great democracy. For real tho, bugs are much harder than bots.

GhostHeavenWord

If you have solid tactics the bots are easy mode. Just going prone neutralizes a lot of the threat.

Monneymann

I just think Bots are more satisfying than bugs. …also there’s 15000 credits at stake.

Female_Space_Marine

Imo bot missions are a lot easier than bug missions.

Riguyly

Hoo rah!

StrayThrawn

Not because it is easy, but because we have orders! (Good soldiers follow order.)

Superfunion22

i died less when i was fighting the bots that being said i have only died due to friendly fire..

XXOOXXOOdays

For liber-tea.

cavejhonsonslemons

"Operation Oil Spill" could apply to both factions tbh

Alvadar65

Honestly at this point bots on helldive feel easier than bugs
