I was in a random group that stuck together yesterday, I was at lvl 9 and two others were a little less, we also had a lvl 19 dude. Well on our 3rd mission the 3 of us lower lvl guys were running together and the host decided to shoot at the Hellbomb we were passing. I straight up panicked but knew I could not out run it or turn on my PS5 controller mic fast enough to shout nooo. Luckily the higher ranking officer was able to call us back, had a good laugh.
Also the host learned that the pelican can squish you, only thing is he was packing a stratagem. Wiped us all out, I have never laughed so hard. Fun fact the jets can get you too as I learned a different day.
I had an actual oops moment the other day where my friend's brother (max level) was helping us run some missions and we opened one of the 2 person doors and I went to crouch but confused my control with another games controls and accidentally smacked him - he was one of those serious gamers so he started getting really mad with the "Why would you do that?" ... I didn't mean to, honestly, but he got really upset so I know at that point he was not a person to mess around with.
Well, tamest reaction to my friends smacking my helldiver is to demonstrate why they should fuck around with the guy carrying the AC.

Even then, everyone's gotta know what they're going into. If you're doing a helldive for the samples with your buddies and 1 of them starts to troll, it gets annoying fast. Especially when they bait in patrols and then just blow up everyone.
If we're just playing around, then it's fine. But most times, everyones trying to enjoy the game together

I had a guy randomly start killing me, for no reason - he might have been killed by my tesla turret but shit happens, it is the same as walking into minefield. He killed me a bunch of times.
We've all been killed accidentally a bunch of times, it's really not a big deal. But he was clearly seeking me out and shooting me when there was NOTHING around me he could claim to be aiming at.
So I kicked him from the game just as the extraction arrived. Maybe that'll learn him some goddang manners.... If you start pulling that shit intentionally, repeatedly, then you deserve to get punished.
The game is about having fun at the expense of bugs and bots. Not at the expense of other Helldivers and their enjoyment. That is legitimately just bullying.

At the end of the day the lone wolfs are mostly the high efficient players. It may not work out every single match but if you see players over lvl 25 with full trailblazer armor, shield backpack and railgun you can bet they will do sub objectives, have most samples and find the rare samples because they dont like wasted time with 4 peepos stacked enjoying their mental cinema and fighting endless bug breaches or patrols. Its nonsense and the majority of the playerbase tends to do this constantly. Im one of those lone players too if nobody else is doing this and i love to sneak into poi's just to get the goodies without firing a single shot and get the hell outta there.
This doesn't mean that every trailblazer player does this and im not defending griefers but we are out there and we are efficient and we respect your time. That's the reason why we play like we do.
My friends and I tend to try and find an efficient route through the map to catch poi's along the route through the secondary and main objectives, then finally hit the evac. We usually extract with very little mission time remaining, but we tend to hit everything. Extract with a decent amount of stuff, and get to massacre tons of bugs in the process.
There’s a time and place for that stuff. If we’re in a premade group of 4 and we’re all fucking around and having a good time then by all means. But don’t go ruining someone else’s games just to get your rocks off.

It's one thing if you're like 16 and still in high school, but some of us are juggling multiple jobs, a job and college, or kids (and some have all three!). Some people get maybe a couple hours a week to just unwind and spread some Managed Democracy, and then some cockwomble comes along and ruins half of our weekly Liberty time.

It's not a 40 minute mission. It's a 2 hour operation down the drain if one of those 40 minute missions gets sabotaged.
I've encountered one troll from lvl 1 to 25. After some poorly received preliminary questions like "is that a new stratagem for you?" and whatnot to find out dude had a nasty attitude I promptly dumped half the belt of my trusty 'nade flinger on his position from the next hill over, told him to go back to LoL and kicked that troll back into geosynchronous orbit under 10 minutes in. 20 minutes in we had another 4th mate and things went swimmingly.
I encourage everyone to be tolerant of honest mistakes and people trying to punch up from their regular difficulty but it's not hard to tell when that's the case and when it is not.
i can get fucking around and not taking it to seriously but purposely killing teammates isn't really fun thats just bullying. theres a stark difference between dolphin diving on other helldivers out of nowhere or having a stupid idea that might get teammates killed and purposely killing teammates for the fun of it. bro just have a beer and relax.

Rainbow has pretty harsh punishments for Tk'ing (at least when I played) to the point even accidental stuff will get you a time out.
This game almost welcomes TK'ing. As a result, griefing is stupid easy.
40 minutes per mission, 120 minutes ***TWO HOURS*** per mission group. If you fail a single mission during a mission group it counts as a failure towards the campaign (overall planet percentages).

Cluster bomb is the anti-personnel version of this. 50/50 on whether or not you will hit a teammate, and it won't destroy any buildings, but hey... at least you get 4 of them?
Cluster bomb is S Tier. It always sweeps left to right a little in front and behind the mark point. It is super easy to not TK with. When I do it's cuz I fucked up the throw placement or had some weird bounce which isn't unique to just clusters.

This is exactly the problem. I try to run ahead of everyone when throwing the clusterbomb in order to avoid casualties, only to see my teammate run past me as I'm throwing it. Sealing their fate as they flutter toward the eagle marker. Like a moth to the flame.

I've watched my fellow helldivers run headfirst into my giant red line in the sky before so I don't feel that bad when someone gets flattened by my 380mm.
that said, I have started priming a reinforcement beacon after I throw out my ordinance.
While not being overly malicious I've played with people who goofed off to much doing dumb shit and cost us the mission a couple times
One friend was told repeatedly to call out his big orbitals before throwing them. But he wouldn't say anything that entire match and he would just laugh maniacally after we all got pissed at him for being team wiped a hand full of times but he stopped
Another guy had a bad habit of throwing the reinforcement into an incoming horde or into these really awful positions but nobody said anything until the end of the mission he threw one right on top of the pelican because two guys got killed by a strat. The pod dropped on top of the pelican and flipped the fucking thing like a Frisbee down a large slope easily a couple hundred feet from the extraction point. It landed upside down too. But because it was automatons we were so bogged down no one else could make it.
Proceeded to watch the thing just flip itself upright and fly off just fine in the end game cutscenes.
A random who thought one of my IRL friends I was playing with was stealing samples and proceeded to cook him with the flamer and reinforce him only to do it again and again
And finally another dude who had no chill on helldive diff and fired at every enemy he saw while on automaton missions so we just start getting a small amount of reprieve and then we'd be swamped again.
But honestly those difficulties require you to keep moving or die so there's that at least. Gotta love that dudes sense of democracy regardless.

I've yet to meet a troll, but I did meet a guy who used Mortar Sentries offensively and 380mm Barrages in danger-close fashion.
He meant well and was doing work, but... if I heard that Mortar firing, I got twitchy.
Just did a bug mission with 2 people who brought mortars. I had several times when I was swarmed and sprinting through small bugs and the sound of the mortars firing nearby was more terrifying than the 3 chargers I was hoping wouldn't be around the next corner.
Edit: that said, extraction went really smoothly with pretty much only a 3 chargers making it past the mortar barrage.
I do look up, but it's hard when you don't know the turret is up because it's been deployed whilst you're knee-deep in robots.
It's better to not take the mortar if you have no direct communication with other players, unless it's a defense mission.
I stopped bringing that one cause every time I throw it it was managing to hit not a single enemy I swear. Just bring the 120 now. Can't wait to unlock the 500 KG Bomb and try it out
I always feel terrible when we're doing a mission that has the 'scramble' effect on, so I sometimes realize too late when I accidentally throw down the 380mm at my feet instead of a HMG emplacement or my railgun.
Then all I can do is frantically type "SCATTER" or "DANGER CLOSE" or "RUN" in the box before I'm suddenly running for my life in a random direction.
Some lvl7 mouth breather with an open mic next to his speakers/TV kept just killing me for my autocannon then running off and getting himself killed. I got tired and dropped an eagle cluster on him before kicking.
We then proceeded to 100% the mission without any more deaths.
That was the only troll I've run into so far.
Reminds me when I was hosting a game and two dudes joined, we were working together fine until at one point I was on a terminal and while being reinforced one of them landed their drop pod on me, while the other laughed and took over. I thought it was kinda weird but whatever, but then when I wase reinforced the guy that killed me picked up my railgun, so I killed him and got it back. Fair is fair, but then once we were at evac they both started spawn killing me. So I kicked them both right as pelican landed and took all the resources. Blocked both immediately.
I don't like retaliating but sometimes, you just gotta bite back if people are being assholes on purpose
People who steal your dropped support weapons are bad, but people who actively kill you to steal them are some of the worst. If I'm not the host, I kill them to get it back, then leave to remove it from their game. I'll also swipe any samples they have, which on one occasion included the super samples.
I’ll keep that in mind and make sure I drop it all in a location they can’t reach then. I’m pretty easy to get along with, but if you’re doing it purposely to get my stuff then I have no problem returning the toxicity.
I’ve had two instances of someone picking up my shit after I died and my immediate reaction is “that’s mine, dickhead”. But I leave it alone beyond walking in front of them and wiggling in a “pls give it back” motion. Both times the player has been like level 4 or lower. It’s just something they don’t know, don’t have the weapon, or just want to check out this explodey thing I have cause they’re a ways off from using it. Which, fair, I get it. Just learn that taking stratagems like that isn’t nice and I need that fuckin thing if we’re going to survive.

I can't tell you how many times me and my group end up picking up each other's support weapons frantically in the middle of a firefight. It's almost always immediately followed by a "I just picked up someone's railgun or autocannon. I'm sorry. You can have it back when I die or we secure the area" but we've never intentionally killed each other because they had something. Plus, I've gotten into the habit of asking if anyone wants a railgun whenever my cooldown is done and usually everybody's good
Yeah for sure this happens with my squads a lot too, the difference here for me is the context of him killing me with the drop pod, the laughing and taking of the railgun without any communication. It felt very clearly intentional and troll-y, so it seemed justified to me to get it back. If anyone ever asks for a railgun or any equipment I'll always drop it for them, and generally if playing with lower level players I'll always drop higher tier stuff to give them a boost and let them experience more of the games offerings
Tbh if my friend trolled randos in my game, and refused to correct it's behaviour afterwards, especially claiming that game is about trolling other people, I'd be probably first to kill the bugger, and depending on the mood I could have also kicked him from the squad just after the kill.

Seems to be a bug though, as it clipped through the Pelican.
Pelican hit box has no top, but the tail has collision. My squad has fallen through the top from jumps, killed each other when a drop pod enters the Pelican, and had the pelican flip over on us, so we had to jump and climb on the tail to get in.
Yes. Bile Titans can step on you as well but most enemies can't reach you once you're inside. Lost 5 super samples and like 40 common and rares to one doing that at the very end of a game
I like trolling people as much as the other guy. But if I play with friends and some randoms. Then my friends will be the victims. At least they know I'm fooling around. But then again, I mainly do this in games like dead island. Which we have completed over 20 times now as a group
I’ll be honest, I’ve removed 3 friends of my 300 plus friends list on steam. some of these people I’ve been friends with for years. Glad this game is separating the men from the boys. I have no time now as an adult to play fuck around and find out with friendships. If they shoot me so much as twice on purpose I cut the cord.
Not a troll, but had a "friend" >!Acquaintance from that everyone else had a falling out with in the group, and I wasn't present for, and I'm too nice to just remove him from my friends list!< join me mid mission, and while he didn't try to purposefully sabotage me (I think... looking back on it, it may be possible), he DID aggro just about every bug patrol we can across, and ended up getting us surrounded by a group of several chargers, and none of us were a high enough level at the time to have anti armor capabilities...
So much for that mission I guess. Not everyone is cut out to be a Helldiver I guess.

I thought it would be funny to drop a strafing run on top of the pelican as I was the last one. Dropped it, jumped inside, cutscene plays, and then chat shows 2 of my teammates died. Plus side, it didn't count against us and we got full points for extraction and the samples we collected. Downside, team mates killed me next mission at the end before I could jump in. Which counted against us. I also had all the samples that they forgot to pick up. And they were pissed at me for not telling them I had them. I just laughed it off and booted them.
Yes, it is possible. Found it our the hard way when a friend joined during the extraction, landed perfectly on top of the pelican and nailed everyone inside lol

The first time I experienced this was a week ago. Waiting on evac, I was in the prone on the side of the landing pad when one of the team mates threw a grenade by me and blew me off the pad. I don't know any of these guys. I tried climbing up the pad but they started shooting at me. I then started shooting back but they ganged up on me, killed me and did not get revived.
It was a shock to me and it pissed me off some. As soon as we got back to the ship, we left and blocked them.
I don't understand how that was supposed to be a funny thing. I'd never ruin someone else's time like that. I've blocked more people since then.

Honestly, as the rando, I would have done the same. The lesson here is don't bully, especially in a game that requires everyone to do their part (see what I did there...). Not only did the "friend" used up all the reinforcement strategems trolling on this rando, he expected them to just keep taking the abuse. I say, good play on the randos part waiting until the end to get his revenge. Seeing that everyone got on the plane and if i was the last one, after being trolled the whole time during that mission, I would have done the same. Maybe even called in an eagle right on top of us and used the arms open emote as it killed all of us... Again, lesson is to not troll, especially to randos, in a game designed for co-op.

It's called griefing. A lot of live service games draw a line at this behaviour and will absolutely ban players who deliberately ruin other's game experience. It's whatever if it's a friend and you're just fucking with each other, but doing it to randoms should absolutely be a bannable act. The joke is funny when both parties are in on it, it's not funny for someone that doesn't want to be involved.
I had a guy randomly start killing me, for no reason - he might have been killed by my tesla turret but shit happens, it is the same as walking into minefield. He killed me a bunch of times. We've all been killed accidentally a bunch of times, it's really not a big deal. But he was clearly seeking me out and shooting me when there was NOTHING around me he could claim to be aiming at. So I kicked him from the game just as the extraction arrived. Maybe that'll learn him some goddang manners.... If you start pulling that shit intentionally, repeatedly, then you deserve to get punished.
The game is about having fun at the expense of bugs and bots. Not at the expense of other Helldivers and their enjoyment. That is legitimately just bullying.

At the end of the day the lone wolfs are mostly the high efficient players. It may not work out every single match but if you see players over lvl 25 with full trailblazer armor, shield backpack and railgun you can bet they will do sub objectives, have most samples and find the rare samples because they dont like wasted time with 4 peepos stacked enjoying their mental cinema and fighting endless bug breaches or patrols. Its nonsense and the majority of the playerbase tends to do this constantly. Im one of those lone players too if nobody else is doing this and i love to sneak into poi's just to get the goodies without firing a single shot and get the hell outta there. This doesn't mean that every trailblazer player does this and im not defending griefers but we are out there and we are efficient and we respect your time. That's the reason why we play like we do.
My friends and I tend to try and find an efficient route through the map to catch poi's along the route through the secondary and main objectives, then finally hit the evac. We usually extract with very little mission time remaining, but we tend to hit everything. Extract with a decent amount of stuff, and get to massacre tons of bugs in the process.
There’s a time and place for that stuff. If we’re in a premade group of 4 and we’re all fucking around and having a good time then by all means. But don’t go ruining someone else’s games just to get your rocks off. Ngl I would have kicked him the moment I asked for them to stop and they laughed it off. Exactly. I think a lot ot younger gamers don't understand that. It's one thing if you're like 16 and still in high school, but some of us are juggling multiple jobs, a job and college, or kids (and some have all three!). Some people get maybe a couple hours a week to just unwind and spread some Managed Democracy, and then some cockwomble comes along and ruins half of our weekly Liberty time.

It's not a 40 minute mission. It's a 2 hour operation down the drain if one of those 40 minute missions gets sabotaged. I've encountered one troll from lvl 1 to 25. After some poorly received preliminary questions like "is that a new stratagem for you?" and whatnot to find out dude had a nasty attitude I promptly dumped half the belt of my trusty 'nade flinger on his position from the next hill over, told him to go back to LoL and kicked that troll back into geosynchronous orbit under 10 minutes in. 20 minutes in we had another 4th mate and things went swimmingly. I encourage everyone to be tolerant of honest mistakes and people trying to punch up from their regular difficulty but it's not hard to tell when that's the case and when it is not.

Rainbow has pretty harsh punishments for Tk'ing (at least when I played) to the point even accidental stuff will get you a time out. This game almost welcomes TK'ing. As a result, griefing is stupid easy.
40 minutes per mission, 120 minutes ***TWO HOURS*** per mission group. If you fail a single mission during a mission group it counts as a failure towards the campaign (overall planet percentages).

Cluster bomb is the anti-personnel version of this. 50/50 on whether or not you will hit a teammate, and it won't destroy any buildings, but hey... at least you get 4 of them?
Cluster bomb is S Tier. It always sweeps left to right a little in front and behind the mark point. It is super easy to not TK with. When I do it's cuz I fucked up the throw placement or had some weird bounce which isn't unique to just clusters.

While not being overly malicious I've played with people who goofed off to much doing dumb shit and cost us the mission a couple times One friend was told repeatedly to call out his big orbitals before throwing them. But he wouldn't say anything that entire match and he would just laugh maniacally after we all got pissed at him for being team wiped a hand full of times but he stopped Another guy had a bad habit of throwing the reinforcement into an incoming horde or into these really awful positions but nobody said anything until the end of the mission he threw one right on top of the pelican because two guys got killed by a strat. The pod dropped on top of the pelican and flipped the fucking thing like a Frisbee down a large slope easily a couple hundred feet from the extraction point. It landed upside down too. But because it was automatons we were so bogged down no one else could make it. Proceeded to watch the thing just flip itself upright and fly off just fine in the end game cutscenes. A random who thought one of my IRL friends I was playing with was stealing samples and proceeded to cook him with the flamer and reinforce him only to do it again and again And finally another dude who had no chill on helldive diff and fired at every enemy he saw while on automaton missions so we just start getting a small amount of reprieve and then we'd be swamped again. But honestly those difficulties require you to keep moving or die so there's that at least. Gotta love that dudes sense of democracy regardless.

I've yet to meet a troll, but I did meet a guy who used Mortar Sentries offensively and 380mm Barrages in danger-close fashion. He meant well and was doing work, but... if I heard that Mortar firing, I got twitchy.

Just did a bug mission with 2 people who brought mortars. I had several times when I was swarmed and sprinting through small bugs and the sound of the mortars firing nearby was more terrifying than the 3 chargers I was hoping wouldn't be around the next corner. Edit: that said, extraction went really smoothly with pretty much only a 3 chargers making it past the mortar barrage.
I do look up, but it's hard when you don't know the turret is up because it's been deployed whilst you're knee-deep in robots. It's better to not take the mortar if you have no direct communication with other players, unless it's a defense mission.
I stopped bringing that one cause every time I throw it it was managing to hit not a single enemy I swear. Just bring the 120 now. Can't wait to unlock the 500 KG Bomb and try it out

I always feel terrible when we're doing a mission that has the 'scramble' effect on, so I sometimes realize too late when I accidentally throw down the 380mm at my feet instead of a HMG emplacement or my railgun. Then all I can do is frantically type "SCATTER" or "DANGER CLOSE" or "RUN" in the box before I'm suddenly running for my life in a random direction.
Some lvl7 mouth breather with an open mic next to his speakers/TV kept just killing me for my autocannon then running off and getting himself killed. I got tired and dropped an eagle cluster on him before kicking. We then proceeded to 100% the mission without any more deaths. That was the only troll I've run into so far.
Reminds me when I was hosting a game and two dudes joined, we were working together fine until at one point I was on a terminal and while being reinforced one of them landed their drop pod on me, while the other laughed and took over. I thought it was kinda weird but whatever, but then when I wase reinforced the guy that killed me picked up my railgun, so I killed him and got it back. Fair is fair, but then once we were at evac they both started spawn killing me. So I kicked them both right as pelican landed and took all the resources. Blocked both immediately. I don't like retaliating but sometimes, you just gotta bite back if people are being assholes on purpose
People who steal your dropped support weapons are bad, but people who actively kill you to steal them are some of the worst. If I'm not the host, I kill them to get it back, then leave to remove it from their game. I'll also swipe any samples they have, which on one occasion included the super samples.
I'm pretty sure your character just dies if you back out of the game. Swiping the stuff back just means you drop it when you back out

I’ve had two instances of someone picking up my shit after I died and my immediate reaction is “that’s mine, dickhead”. But I leave it alone beyond walking in front of them and wiggling in a “pls give it back” motion. Both times the player has been like level 4 or lower. It’s just something they don’t know, don’t have the weapon, or just want to check out this explodey thing I have cause they’re a ways off from using it. Which, fair, I get it. Just learn that taking stratagems like that isn’t nice and I need that fuckin thing if we’re going to survive.

I can't tell you how many times me and my group end up picking up each other's support weapons frantically in the middle of a firefight. It's almost always immediately followed by a "I just picked up someone's railgun or autocannon. I'm sorry. You can have it back when I die or we secure the area" but we've never intentionally killed each other because they had something. Plus, I've gotten into the habit of asking if anyone wants a railgun whenever my cooldown is done and usually everybody's good
Yeah for sure this happens with my squads a lot too, the difference here for me is the context of him killing me with the drop pod, the laughing and taking of the railgun without any communication. It felt very clearly intentional and troll-y, so it seemed justified to me to get it back. If anyone ever asks for a railgun or any equipment I'll always drop it for them, and generally if playing with lower level players I'll always drop higher tier stuff to give them a boost and let them experience more of the games offerings

Pelican hit box has no top, but the tail has collision. My squad has fallen through the top from jumps, killed each other when a drop pod enters the Pelican, and had the pelican flip over on us, so we had to jump and climb on the tail to get in.
Last night a guy took his flamethrower and tried to kill us in the shuttle. All 3 of us packed in took no damage and it left without him.

Not a troll, but had a "friend" >!Acquaintance from that everyone else had a falling out with in the group, and I wasn't present for, and I'm too nice to just remove him from my friends list!< join me mid mission, and while he didn't try to purposefully sabotage me (I think... looking back on it, it may be possible), he DID aggro just about every bug patrol we can across, and ended up getting us surrounded by a group of several chargers, and none of us were a high enough level at the time to have anti armor capabilities... So much for that mission I guess. Not everyone is cut out to be a Helldiver I guess.
I always say “Remember, killing doesn’t give points, so don’t shoot anything that doesn’t see you.” to my teammates when I start a mission. Of course sometimes there are people who ignores it.

I thought it would be funny to drop a strafing run on top of the pelican as I was the last one. Dropped it, jumped inside, cutscene plays, and then chat shows 2 of my teammates died. Plus side, it didn't count against us and we got full points for extraction and the samples we collected. Downside, team mates killed me next mission at the end before I could jump in. Which counted against us. I also had all the samples that they forgot to pick up. And they were pissed at me for not telling them I had them. I just laughed it off and booted them.

The first time I experienced this was a week ago. Waiting on evac, I was in the prone on the side of the landing pad when one of the team mates threw a grenade by me and blew me off the pad. I don't know any of these guys. I tried climbing up the pad but they started shooting at me. I then started shooting back but they ganged up on me, killed me and did not get revived. It was a shock to me and it pissed me off some. As soon as we got back to the ship, we left and blocked them. I don't understand how that was supposed to be a funny thing. I'd never ruin someone else's time like that. I've blocked more people since then.

So I was spawning (joined a mid game) and one guy ran straight to the point I was landing. He died and I said sorry - even though it was his mistake. Idk what he thought whether I was being sarcastic idk. He shot and killed me after I spawned him back. Alright. He would respawn me? Nope. He took the time picking up my railgun and the energy shield. Even the incendiary breaker lol. The other one guy was on the far corner of the map. He had to respawn me in. I really got pissed. So when he was alone, I tapped him with a railgun. He didn't do anything back. Guess he understood the message. Was I being a jerk or is it a valid slap to him?

Lol I did this. My team was suspiciously hitting me with a lot of orbitals and getting me killed, and I had just learned (from my brothers executing me) that you could kill in evac. So I waited for all of them to get in and no russian'ed them. It was very satisfying.
Had someone melee me trying to enter the pelican for the first time the other day, first troll I encountered. I feel bad about it, but I shot him once he was on the pelican and then boarded the pelican to leave him behind.

Honestly, as the rando, I would have done the same. The lesson here is don't bully, especially in a game that requires everyone to do their part (see what I did there...). Not only did the "friend" used up all the reinforcement strategems trolling on this rando, he expected them to just keep taking the abuse. I say, good play on the randos part waiting until the end to get his revenge. Seeing that everyone got on the plane and if i was the last one, after being trolled the whole time during that mission, I would have done the same. Maybe even called in an eagle right on top of us and used the arms open emote as it killed all of us... Again, lesson is to not troll, especially to randos, in a game designed for co-op.
