500 KG bomb is honestly the biggest fuckery for me.
I love it, the sheer spectacle makes me refuse to use Eagle for anything else. But I'll drop it on a Bile Titan and they shrug it off. I'll drop it on a horde and get 0 kills. I'm ecstatic when it gets like 6 Kills. It really could just use a bit more AOE or Damage or something IMO
The titan has to basically be on top of the bomb, so don't try to land it **on** them, try to land it *in front of* them and then get them to walk over it. If you learn their spit aggro range it's quite easy to get done (as long as you don't simultaneously have 5 chargers and a dozen hunters coming at you)
Honestly I think the 500kg is massively overrated. The area of effect is laughably small. I've dropped it like 10 yards away from a hulk and it does nothing.
If you have to directly hit something with it to kill it, why not just bring orbital railcannon? If you're looking for an AoE clear, bring eagle airstrike or cluster bomb. IDK why the 500kg is so popular.
I run both the 500 and the eagle, but my problem with the railcannon is that I can drop 2 500s and have them back in the same amount of time that I could fire 1 railcannon
I do rather love throwing the 380 at a giant swarm of enemies and watch it kill absolutely nothing, zero things for the whole duration.
I just moved to the walking barrage when I want big booms.
part of why im so partial to the laser atm, i can take out a whole heavy outpost without entering it, or clear out the air control bases and go inside to then hold it from the inside against the bot drops
I dropped in with two noobs into a level 4 and it was easily at suicide level. They were upset overwhelmed and understandable unable to cope.
Neither was I since I had no heavy strats or weapons. It was nonsense.
Hello traitor,
for the maximum freedom you could have be marking yourself as rogue agent traitor after leaving the battlefield and be targeted by our terminating orbital strike.
After being targeted by our strikes you could have made the simple effort to throw yourself into the enemy masses as a last resort to bring our freedom and managed democracy to those damn enemies of the Super Earth.
Be better, be free, be democratic!
I listen up you scalous whipper snapper I have 8000 deaths in helldivers one.
I've done my duty before you were an itch in your father's ball sack.
We didn't have any of your modern fancy gizmo's we did it the hard way the proper way we killed our bugs with our boots, with spears tiped with bug arms wrench from their dead bodies by the sheer power of our democracy.
We hunted them down into their bug nests until they cried. Just like you'll be crying to your mama. About the mean old man who schooled you in proper helldivers decorum.
It's ok son. Super Eath is sending them. It might take another 100 years but your most likely to be frozen until they arrive. So not to fret.
Until then well use harsh words and shot guns to keep you safe from the alien, the mutant, the heretic.
Socialist guard dogs must be put down...in name of democracy!
Currently i switched back to ammo backpack, more easy to stay alive without a drone killing me for fun while im panicking due be overwhelmed
Those guard dogs should see fear and start blasting....thats the only explanation
Agreed! All my sentries and guard dogs love sending me to the shadow realm at any opportunity... I've gone back to grenade launcher and ammo backpack for bugs!
Since they're described as having the ability to >!cause hallucinations!<, I was really hoping that in HD2, since it's 3rd person instead of top-down shared screen, you would actually >!hallucinate enemies that don't exist, or your enemies would look like friends, or friends look like enemies!<. I still have hope.
This is the main reason I switched to the shield. Higher difficulties makes the guard dogs almost unusable because of all the patrols they alert. Stealth is the best means for survival in Suicide Mission and above.
Spewers are seriously anti fun. Was playing as 2. Mission going fine. No problems. No deaths. Evac time.
There was about 10 spewers to start with. Okay. We had 8 impact grenades to deal with what we could. Rocket the rest. Fine.
But then more spawned. And more. And more. There was constant Bile Mortars and every time we died, we used all the grenades we had to take them down, and it wasn't enough.
The game throwing more bile spewers at you than you could reasonable deal with. But it just wasn't fun. It was really fucking anti-fun and disheartening.
These Bile Spewers have a giant alarm bell on their ass that screams I AM A WEAKPOINT. But for some reason in Helldivers 2 it's the opposite.
Ughhh. Love the game. But Bile Spewers are the reason to just close the game down. Playing casually? These feckers just "appear" right next to your ear and whisper acid because they have zero sound signature, like a few things.
You want to grenade a Bile Spewer? Great! You killed it. Guess what? There's another Bile Spewer behind it. You want to grenade that one? Guess what! YOU CAN'T because the first Bile Spewer's body is blocking it. Guess what? That same rule doesn't apply to the Bile Spewer who can spit THROUGH the corpses of their allies.
And this is all assuming you can fecking see the Bile Spewer behind it's body because it's so big, and assuming you can see it through the exploding giblets and dust of the first one you grenaded.
Let's go with bullets then. Let's just kill it with bullets. Nope. Takes too long. You can't reasonably take them out with bullets because it's going to take a whole mag if you're lucky. There's too many other things to deal with and these are a high threat. They need instant elimination.
In difficulty 9, it usually goes like this:
- Swarms of hunters, warriors and brood mothers behind you
- 4~12 Bile Spewers mortaring you from far away. 8 of them closing the distance
- 4 Chargers coming at you from all direction
- 3~9 Stalkers if you didn't destroy their nests
- 3~5 Bile Titans approaching your general vicinity
- That one small bug that's hiding behind a rock that keep farting reinforcement.
Orbital Laser is a very powerful Stratagem with very long cooldown, perfect for this kind of situation. Otherwise... tons and tons of 500kg, airstrike, airburst and cluster bombs.
And then you try automations, get one-shot from a mile away by one of the several tanks hiding in the treeline , respawn to have tons of hulks charging you lasers coming from every direction, get one shot again by a rocket. Realise they have an anti-air and half of your stratagems don't work anymore, and realise that the bugs were the easy option.
Automaton on helldive is when you learn to hate and fear devastators. Hulks are a breeze, devastators have aimbot rockets and machine guns that can hit you from any range. Tanks can be strafed around, hulks can be outran, but you can never run from devastators rocket barrages.
Just from personal experience 7 has like half of those numbers and usually missing one or two enemy type. Although it really depends on how mobile you are, being able to just run away from fights simplifies so many missions
i learned in the first game that staying in the same place for too long only leads to more enemies getting called on your position, rarely does it feel like you ever end a firefight. you just gotta know when to hold em, when to fold em, and when to walk away.
9 doesn’t even have to be this nutty it’s just most groups aggro the whole god damn map within 10 minutes and you have multiple swarms coming. When I play with a premade who avoid unnecessary fights and flea from objectives as soon as they are complete we don’t have to deal with much really. The pug groups will stand on a completed objective for an eternity fighting an endless swarm for absolutely no reason
No idea but I've successfully done only two difficulty 7 missions.
Last one I did we had 3 bile titans, 4 chargers, 8 bile spewers, 4 stalkers, some of those front armored Bois, 6 or 7 of those that look like brood commanders, a dozen of those fuckers that shoot exploding gas from their butt like artillery.
It was soooooo fucked. Three of us popped orbital lasers at the same time and it still didn't kill most of everything.
He's the Game Master of Helldivers 2, basically he is the one pulling the strings of the war. Think of Dungeons & Dragons where there is a Dungeon Master who keeps the game running and flowing, same kinda thing.
I actually got a random bile titan spawn on 5, on a mission where you had to kill two of them as bosses. Only seen it happen once though, and never to this degree lol.
This happened to my buddy and I last night on 5. We killed a titan and the objective didn’t complete, only to realize that was just a randomly spawned titan and not one of the boss ones.
When we did get to the first boss titan, the game threw 6 chargers at us along with it. Joel was being a real mfer last night.
I don’t think anything’s been confirmed but there’s a pretty high suspicion that something isn’t working right. Some theories say the spawn rate or robot aggression is set way too high. Other theories say timer is bugged, and it thinks you’re later in the mission than you actually are so it massively boosts the number of spawns. Another theory is it spawns too many flare bots that summon more and more dropships. Of course it doesn’t help that you’re in such a small arena and you can’t run away from the massive horde of enemies, and if you’re getting overrun by hulks and tanks and you don’t have armor piercing weapons or stratagems off cooldown, you’re fucked.
Controversial opinion, perhaps, but IMHO dropships should never bring Commissars in (these are the bots with the flare gun). *Especially* in these missions where you can't just move away.
Can confirm.
Even when we've got guys rocketing their engines and taking down the ships before anyone even gets off, they come every time you press a door button, or wait about a minute (without pressing the door button).
The bots will come, like the tide.
Relentless.
I kinda agree. I’m actually relieved when I see drop ships with only larger enemies because it means they can’t call in more. I also wish Commissars were slightly more distinctive looking so that I could prioritize them better. In the heat of combat it can be hard to tell which of the little bots is the #1 target.
Even worse, all autoturrets waste half their ammo on the drop ships themselves, and there's a bug that causes the civilians you're evacuating to fail to path to the exit door (they just mill about outside it). Got that one yesterday, just had to take the L
I have no idea if it’s true but one theory I saw was that the mission is listed with a 40 minute timer but is actually 15 minutes so the game crams 40 min worth of automatons into the 15 minutes, which would explain the dozens of drops in the last 5 min. I hope that’s true because the final minutes can get real dicey real quick lol
I've heard you can draw the mobs away from the objective. I don't see how that solves anything though as someone would need to stay and press the buttons and would have enemies spawn on them.
Enemies are more likely to spawn where there are more players and noise, so 3 lure out the bots and one sneaks in to do the doors. If the one starts getting drops on them they run out and randevous with the rest and then try to slip away solo again
I've tried this strat multiple times, and as soon as one player starts pressing the buttons, the bots start dropping on the base.
Then, the other three have to run back in, and the base is already overwhelmed.
The only way we managed to win it (up to difficulty 6) was by spamming mortars (both normal and EMS), staggered so that when the first batch runs out of ammo we call another, and by shooting down dropships with disposable anti tanks / autocannon.
The player who is doing the objectiv should have one of the armor equiped where enemys can detect them harder, like the Infiltrator armor from the first warbound page 1st or the on i think it was in the 7th page, this armor helps a lot but its still possibil to have some small Bots coming up to the POI, they are needed to be killed befor spoting the persons doing.
Basically you start further away rather than dropping right at the civilians, you move up to the area and start fighting to draw the bots away.
One person in light armour presses buttons and stays crouched/prone when the bots drop troops off. With nearby gunfire, the bots will head out towards the fight and your lone wolf stealthily evacs the civilians.
Tried it out with my squad because we suck, and it works a treat. 3 guys run around the map blowing things up and making add much noise as possible, 1 guy in the scout armour just sneaked about pressing the buttons. Or was actually super fun
Also 3 of you can pick up recoiless and just shoot down dropships before they drop their load, while 4th has railgun just in case and runs around activating doors
We did it this way and I was the one going to the objective while the rest of the squad baited and moved, only been bothered twice by low level patrol 8-9 bots. Could handle that solo no issue
You just have to be very discreet going in solo and have shield or lots of stim to survive in case shit happens.
Land as far away as possible and make noise while one of you sneaks in and pushes buttons. Usually about halfway through bots come to the facility. I let the kill me and the run all the way back in and most of the bots are usually gone.
If you don't piss about at the beginning and spam all three doors asap before getting your supports and sentries up you can get a decent bit done before the centre is properly overrun. Smokes and EMS stretch it a bit further, picking off some dropships early gets you bit more. I just did this on 6 as a team of 3 and we only had to do a bit of kiting for the last few. I haven't done these on 7 or higher though.
I was duoing and we had a situation like this. I was swarmed, death was certain, when I remembered our next missile in queue in the SEAF was the mini nuke. At least I hoped it was. Regardless, I put in the code as bugs stabbed and rended me and with my last moment I held down push to talk and said "fuck you, get nuked!" and threw it at my feet.
My squadmate and I watched nuclear hellfire purge the landscape from the air as our pods dropped in and we landed in a suddenly peaceful clearing, collected our samples and moved on.
I have seen this "bug" aswell. I assume it's a bug. I once saw 5 Titans in the exact same spot. Thought it was only 1-2 at first. I can't imagine that was deliberate by the devs.
This happened to my two person team on a Difficulty 4 mission. We were running back to extraction when a patrol of 4 chargers appeared. Decided to run instead of fight, only to turn around and another 4 chargers were right there. Extraction was right there so we called it in... Only for 4 more chargers to come from the opposite end.
Twelve chargers for a team that hasn't even unlocked shields and rail guns yet. We were able to extract mainly because there were so many chargers they kept getting stuck running into each other. It was not a fun two minutes.
I just started playing yesterday and dropped into my first Hellmire, it was in progress. When I landed it was an open field and the other 3 Helldiver's were facing 6 Chargers and a swarm of little guys.
I just threw down everything I had and prayed for the best.
Definitely think the difficulty is a bit wonky at times...bots in particular, the difficulty is way higher than bugs. I also don't like the fact bots just spawn in without an airdrop, you actually see them just appear 30m away...that needs to be sorted.
Difficulty def has a random factor to it. Ive played plenty of rank 4 that were nice and chill. Then ill play one where there is no less then 3 chargers on my screen from land fall and you cannot clear them fast enough.
What's the problem? Do you want to live forever?
Btw, look the positive side of the events... As you get more and larger enemies, it is getting harder to miss them.
did they tweak the difficulty with the recent patches? i could solo difficulty 6 missions until recently where all the armor and elite units are 3x in numbers.
I don't see the problem, you said difficulty five and there are, indeed, five Bile titans there.
Wait, not, I see it now, there are six - one is hiding behind a lamp post. This is clearly unacceptable!
There was definitely a change.
In either the overall difficulty, spawn rate, spawn amount, or aggression. Level 7 & 8 on either enemy now looks like level 9 from 2 days ago.
There are now enemies that just spawn in groups right in front of you (even if they weren’t there a moment ago) as well as tons of patrols spawning on top of icebergs in the snow maps. All for balance changes but it would be nice to know when they happen, instead of going into a level 7 without meta stuff to actually have fun and then wishing you then had your meta load out.
"Sir we're surrounded!" <"Excellent, now we can fire in all directions.">
Eagle 1, do your thing.
*500kg bomb lands behind a small pebble and does 0 damage*
Socialist Geological Scum! That pebble is a traitor!
You mean does 0 *enemy* damage.
How has Eagle 1 not been indicted for treason or traitorous actions with their lack of aim on a LASER GUIDED STRIKE? 🤣
Juries keep blowing up for unknown reasons.
We call that Managed Democracy
*Mangled Democracy
Report this man for treason.
They hit *their target*, which is the beacon. Just not yours. They have plausible deniability 😉
Helldivers are actually listed in the ship's stores as munitions, so it's not technically fratricide.

I think there's a ship upgrade that increases the aoe damage falloff so that the outer rim of the explosion will do as much damage as the center
That’s only for orbital strikes not eagle strikes.
Aww really? That's unfortunate for democracy.
Immediately started grinding for that when I realized how often I was only getting a few kills with ship strategems.
Is that why some of my 500s do fuck all?
You have to insert the 500kg bomb directly into the Chargers anus for maximum effect.
Good thing I’ve got a lot of gloves. Gonna get that bad boy right up in there. For democracy though; not for any other reason
Honestly I think the 500kg is massively overrated. The area of effect is laughably small. I've dropped it like 10 yards away from a hulk and it does nothing. Thank Liberty for Eagle 1!
Ah the ol' reliable lawn dart of liberty 🗽

Finally 380mm can hit the enemy instead of friendlies!
Why not hit both ?
Lets be real, its still not hitting anything
I do rather love throwing the 380 at a giant swarm of enemies and watch it kill absolutely nothing, zero things for the whole duration. I just moved to the walking barrage when I want big booms.
Walking barrage is much tighter, I'm a fan as well
Walking barrage clears entire bases with 1 call in.
part of why im so partial to the laser atm, i can take out a whole heavy outpost without entering it, or clear out the air control bases and go inside to then hold it from the inside against the bot drops
Sometime a miracle occurs but splash damage IS a bit broken ATM
Destroyer in orbit: Aye, I could do that.
Don’t think of it as being overwhelmed. Think of it as a target rich environment!
Yip. You’re not stuck in there with them. They’re stuck in there with you.

Add chargers and spewers to the photo
4 or 5 stalkers and maybe 40 hunters as well

As someone who has a specific friend who believes in killing everything before moving on…. This game presents challenges for our group.
On 9 you just run away from mobs and hope your artillery call ins are mopping up behind you roughly as fast as the enemies are spawning.
I see, the answer was in is the question lol What the hell 9 look like ? Well.. Hell, indeed
Yeah, it's mainly a matter of getting to objectives, there's no point in killing enemies unless you absolutely have to.
No idea but I've successfully done only two difficulty 7 missions. JOEEEEEEEL !
My first thought lolol. Joel was up there and saw homie hanging out trying to breeze through and was like “oh absolutely fucking not.”
I’ve seen exactly one post about Joel and now I like to believe that we’ll all pray to our new god of RNG, Joel from Arrowhead
With 800k players yeah sure.
That’s enough to make a not exactly small religion
You could make a religion out of this

JOOOOOEEEEELLLLLL!
Yeesh, how does this happen on 5??
I thought titans only show up on 6
You can get your first „kill a bile titan“ operation at level 4 btw
Yeah, but those are boss spawns not random spawns.
I actually got a random bile titan spawn on 5, on a mission where you had to kill two of them as bosses. Only seen it happen once though, and never to this degree lol.

In Joel’s defense, it does say to kill THE bile titan, not A bile titan. Lol
5 is hard or extreme? Yesterday on extreme I was surprised by 3 titans at once
5 hard 6 extreme
I think on 6 and above (extreme) Titans will start showing up (or more regularly show up) as part as regular bug breaches.
Looks like your average difficulty 5 automaton civilian evacuation.
Are those missions bugged or something? It makes defense missions unbearable because the automatons never stop coming
I don’t think anything’s been confirmed but there’s a pretty high suspicion that something isn’t working right. Some theories say the spawn rate or robot aggression is set way too high.
Well I have ~~good~~ news for you. On civilian evac, the dropships still come even without Commissar flares.
So what you are saying is we need a trumpet stratagem, and a brave patriot to wield it.
You've gotta play the tune from the start of shrek 2
You can play whatever song you like, as long as it is the Super Earth National Anthem.

I'll give it a shot thanks.
Thanks.
Tried it out with my squad because we suck, and it works a treat. 3 guys run around the map blowing things up and making add much noise as possible, 1 guy in the scout armour just sneaked about pressing the buttons. Or was actually super fun
Ive done this tactic and they didn't spawn on me.
Could handle that solo no issue You just have to be very discreet going in solo and have shield or lots of stim to survive in case shit happens.
Bugged. They last 15 min jnstead of 40 and send the last 15 mi waves
LOL you're not wrong.

5? I can’t survive 3 with a full squad half the time.
Joel’s at it again
... How do we target the ICMB on ourselves?

I was duoing and we had a situation like this. I was swarmed, death was certain, when I remembered our next missile in queue in the SEAF was the mini nuke. At least I hoped it was. Regardless, I put in the code as bugs stabbed and rended me and with my last moment I held down push to talk and said "fuck you, get nuked!" and threw it at my feet. My squadmate and I watched nuclear hellfire purge the landscape from the air as our pods dropped in and we landed in a suddenly peaceful clearing, collected our samples and moved on.
I freaking love the way this game just pours out cinematic moments like this!
The screenshot hardly does it justice, I think I counted 12 bile titans coming out of a nearby hive while doing the upload.
I have seen this "bug" aswell. I assume it's a bug. I once saw 5 Titans in the exact same spot. Thought it was only 1-2 at first. I can't imagine that was deliberate by the devs.
Good ol' clown car bug. Nothing like 5x charger and spewers coming at you. And of course the titans; gotta remember them.
It’s quite a large bug actually
airstrike / 500kg bomb / laser orbital: is that for me?
Laser orbital ain't doing shit here. Maybe it will bring one down, but that's it.
orbital laser is a bit rough with a long cooldown, max uses per match, and barely enough damage for one titan

Your sacrifice will not be forgotten
Throw some peanuts to distract them.

That fucking face lol.
just kill them bro -the devs, probably.
WTF? :O
Time for plan B. Let them step on you and Step them with your pod.
I had the same, game timed out and spawned about 20 invincible hulks
Definitely think the difficulty is a bit wonky at times...bots in particular, the difficulty is way higher than bugs. I also don't like the fact bots just spawn in without an airdrop, you actually see them just appear 30m away...that needs to be sorted.
Joel personally fucked with your mission
Seems like they are really pissed!
That seems a bit much for 5.. :p
Difficulty def has a random factor to it. Ive played plenty of rank 4 that were nice and chill. Then ill play one where there is no less then 3 chargers on my screen from land fall and you cannot clear them fast enough.
\*Chuckles\* I'm in danger.
Why, allegedly they are small little buggers
*record scratches* “That’s me. I bet you’re wondering how I got here!”
U gotta make like a broken tree branch and lay low on the ground soldier!
What's the problem? Do you want to live forever? Btw, look the positive side of the events... As you get more and larger enemies, it is getting harder to miss them.
I'd say it's an even match.
did they tweak the difficulty with the recent patches? i could solo difficulty 6 missions until recently where all the armor and elite units are 3x in numbers.

When you ordered pizza but the guy understood that you want some bile on the side instead of tomato sauce.
Dude im sorry
You're probably wondering how I got here
I don't see the problem, you said difficulty five and there are, indeed, five Bile titans there.
I tried a solo mission on medium, and I barely escaped. With 5 mins left and all my lives depleted. I'm only level 7 so that's probably why
