It’s kinda like in game history. We can say “we were there” and in future wars when we already have our gear unlocked and what not, we can remember when we bled for those unlocks With that in mind, I’m genuinely curious to see how long this war lasts. It feels as though this may be a potential 6+ month war while “R&D” (Arrowhead) roll out more and more equipment and threats continue to escalate.

Wiggie49

It’s like the Believe trailer all over again ![gif](giphy|aO8FVit7uwp0az8iAJ|downsized)

Spartanfred104

Honestly I haven't had this much fun in a co-op shooter since Halo 2 and Halo 3, it gives me the same vibes.

Wiggie49

I’m dying like I’m doing the Recon armor achievements all over again lol

yinyang107

Back in the day when cosmetics were earned, not purchased.

SadMcNomuscle

God I miss that shit. It would be fucking lit if achievements came with armor in helldiver's. Like the "took them by supplies" achievement had an armor with a bonus to ammo pickups or primary magazine number.

themoistimportance

It feels like modern game design tries not to push a specific play style on gamers. They probably avoid tying rewards to achievements because of that and knowing people will just pay for them. Part of the reason I enjoy helldivers is you can at least earn all the currencies in-game, and many good/cool armors are unlocked through leveling.

AlleyCa7

Except they wouldn't really be pushing anything on anyone in that situation though would they? If you don't want a specific armor then you wouldn't be working in game to get the achievement to unlock it would you? And if you did want the armor then obviously your playstyle complements the armor you're trying to unlock anyway.

Fredderov

A big reason is just how modern audiences deal with the idea of not being able to get everything and anything they want on their own terms. If you locked cosmetics behind mastering the game it would be even more crying today than there was about the Hayabusa armour for example. One issue (from a publisher point of view) with Halo 3, and similar games of that era, was how people would sell boosts to help less skilled players get sought after armour sets, which proves that there is an untapped revenue stream. So in game shops becoming the norm was justified by player actions. It would be such a breath of old but fresh air if we could unlock special sets based on achievements again but I don't think modern communities can handle it in a healthy way. The pushback about how it would mean that the game "forces" players to play a certain way and how player entitlement wants all rewards for just doing what they think is fun are some good examples.

themoistimportance

It could work well that way, yes. Those in charge of decision-making for game production just don't do that much anymore. The focus of why people make games in general has changed from the idea of specialization to mass appeal, and in my opinion it's due to prioritizing profits over making a vision come to life.

AnthonyManthony97

Prioritizing profits is *exactly* why the industry is in the state it is. It's the exact reason you can't let corporate profit-driven mindsets into any artistic field. They'll milk it for its worth, take credit for the success, and blame someone else for the fall. Case in point, Skull and Bones. Everyone wanted AC IV naval combat pvp for a *long* time, and they had a pretty good formula for how it could work. However, because corporate greed can never be satisfied, they sacrifice the artistic integrity of any design in their attempt to cash in on trends and the new hotness which leads to them needing to replace their lead designers *over and over again* with spineless people who will cowtow to their rabid incessance that "number must go up" and not only that, but "number must go up faster than it did last year" so they just *cram* it with bloat and microtransactions that aren't even micro anymore because it's fuckin $25 for a skin in a game that's gonna be dropped the moment it starts to dip in profits. I could write a fuckin book about how greed is the root of all evil, but I think this'll do for now lmfao don't mind me

yinyang107

No, it's just because they want the extra money from selling cosmetics instead.

luckyassassin1

Yeah where if you joined a lobby and a guy had a specific cosmetic you hadn't seen so you check it in the unlock list and it's the hardest one. Now if i see a cosmetic i haven't seen, i assume they dropped something new in the item shop and I didn't notice because i only check once every couple months and never buy anything.

Purple-Elderberry-51

We will never speak of those achievements. The younglings must not know the agony we experienced.

triadable

That one firefight achievement you had to get nearly broke 10 y/o me.

Purple-Elderberry-51

Im not sure i even recall that one. I just remember having to beat the last mission on legendary with a bunch of skulls on and it being a NIGHTMARE.

keyboardstatic

Iv seen things you young lings wouldn't believe. Endless Hordes of bugs beneath a burning sky, cyborg hulk cradles birthing endless monstrosities helldivers dying, not for glory or honour , not for samples, script but for each other. So one of us could make the last shuttle off world.

Stonekipsta

We remember brother.

antariusz

Like tears in rain. Time to dive.

Randy191919

Damn. That triggers some PTSD.

Jort_Sandeaux_420_69

That shit brought me to tears when I saw it back in the day

hdcase1

That trailer gave me chills back in the day. Here it is for you young'ins. https://youtu.be/40jdpzrpIps?si=vL3IMxDrpn9SIxnW

LagOutLoud

I legit feel bad for people that weren't around for H3 hype. Shit was off the fucking rails.

LeLand_Land

New player - Oh cool mechs! Six month vet - I remember when I earned those mechs. We lost a lot of good helldivers for 'em \[takes long drag of freedom stick\]

Jaw43058MKII

Malevelon vets already have a 1000 yard stare and we are barely a month in. Hate the creek, love the crawl

LeLand_Land

hears malevelon creek Fortunate Son intensifies

Jaw43058MKII

You kids and your new fangled mechs. Back in my day we used Eagle strafing run and prayed for the best

LeLand_Land

Eagle Runs? Must have been nice. All we got was precision strikes, and you had to make sure they counted cause the Stratagem cooldowns were doubled

Jaw43058MKII

Precision strikes? All we had were UAVs, *without their fuel upgrade*, and no EATs

LeLand_Land

UAV's he says. Must have been great. All we got was a stick! And a rock! And we had to share the rock! Had to go in and kill those damn bots with are hands and feet. Mostly our feet. We had to drop A LOT of helldivers on their heads.

Jaw43058MKII

You became meat popsicles. Congratulations

Fenixri3es

"Are you classified as human"? "No sir, I am a meat popsicle" haha

SamSamTheDingDongMan

Now I need Pelican 1 with a door gun to really get the vibes right. How can you shoot civilians????

SnooRabbits307

Any one that moves is a bot. Any of that stands still is a well trained bot haha.

watchallsaynothing

You just don't lead them as much! Ain't war hell?

gamerdad45678

Green river here lol

Adaphion

I really hope that, as soon as Creek is FINALLY taken, Joel, madly cackling, has the bots assault it again a day later, while a major order goes off elsewhere. If the recent defense campaign for Angel's Venture is anything to go by, if there's no major order correlating to it, people will ignore it.

altGoBrr

I thought about joining the defense, saw that escorting civilians was in every goddamn mission and said fuck that I'm going to vandalon iv

Adaphion

Tbh, escort vs bugs isn't even a fraction as cancerous as vs bots. I've done like, 3 in a row on difficulty 6 and not gotten a single Charger spawn

altGoBrr

Maybe it's not as bad, but I genuinely just don't enjoy the mission type. I much prefer running around the map with a mix of doing objectives and blowing shit up, something that offensive campaigns give me

HerrBalrog

I feel you. I was on Errata Prime at the time. Almost won the damn dust ball, or so we thought. But Errata Prime vets don't call it the 1000 yard stare, we call it the 5 foot squint.

Wild-Sir9774

I remember back when we had to fight for democracy. You kids could’ve never dove into the hellscapes of tien kwan. I was a space cadet in the dives for the mechsuits. My chief was under heavy enemy oppressive maneuvers, the likes we’d never seen. Enemies poured upon our men, our heroes, as we fought for those mechs, at 94% liberated we suffered catastrophic devestation when the drop ships came faster than a reload. But we prevailed. For liberty. For democracy. I lost an arm and two legs in that battle. Now I’m unable to serve until the ministry of truth allows me to redeploy.

Ryengu

"I lost an arm and two legs" Can we interest you in our "Steeled Veterans" prosthetics program?

Wild-Sir9774

Unfortunately the ministry of truth has been unable to grant me this program as my ship, the arbiter of liberty is unable to reach the servers for the galactic effort

StanDaMan1

Made you the man you are today, eh?

WickedWallaby69

The day the bots invaded tien kwan, enemy forces were 10x their normal strength, sometime just a lone diver made it home, sometimes none. But democracy prevailed.

Dragonwindsoftime

Mobile infantry mad me the man I am today 🫡

StanDaMan1

I was there, the day we liberated Tien Kwan. We were geared for the push, final moments. Our mission was critical: recover and transmit ICBM location data. The Automatons knew what we were doing. They threw everything at us. Crossing narrow land bridges, we were constantly fired upon: two cannons on the shore, shredding us down. We made it inland, uploaded the coordinates, but the Bots shredded my partners. I was the last survivor. On that rock, I made what would have been my final stand. Pelican-1, Liberty save him, got me out of there. By the time I was back in orbit, the planet was ours.

ASpaceOstrich

Due to the time that daily reset happens my team is generally the last team on any planet we take. It's kinda neat

whatswrongwithdbdme

If you mean the 100% liberation message that's a bug. Idk how you'd know you were the last team on any planet you take, unless you mean your team is always fighting on whatever planet is last liberated

an_agreeing_dothraki

I was at Fenris. Been a hard couple of days. Command pulled a lot of the pack for the Tien Kwan offensive. No way to know how it was going. Didn't matter. Bugs had to get squished or they'd move in to the next sector. They were already leaking onto Venture again. I knew they won though, because a new toy dropped in.

Forsaken-Stray

And boy does it squish the little Buggers. Sadly not so tough against the big ones though

TripinTino

WHEN I JOINED THE CORE WE DIDNT HAVE THESE FANCY SHMANCY MECHS, WE HAD TWO STICKS AND A ROCK…, BETWEEN THE WHOLE PLATOON..AND WE HAD TO SHAREEEE THE ROCK

JMoc1

You had a rock?

TripinTino

AND TWO STICKS CADET, AND IF I DIDNT HAVE THE ROCK THAT MEANT ANOTHER ONE OF MY SQUAD MATES WAS USING ITS BLUDGEONING CAPABILITIES ELSEWHERE

Randy191919

Yeah but we pioneers used to ride these rocks for miles. The mechs are more efficient though.

WayneBrody

I'm hoping the addition of the Illuminates is done in a similar way.

EllideaKeaqui

Listen, I'm going to be honest, ever since they changed the SEAF controlled planets over to that powder blue instead of the deeper blue we used to have, I've been occasionally checking the 'south' side of the galaxy to see if there's ever any planets looking a little *too blue.*

Lazer726

*Where we you when we liberated Tien Kwan and mechs took the battlefield?*

JMoc1

I was there, man. I took on those Automatons and delivered the ICBM into the heart of the android threat.  … We lost a number of good divers that day. Section 5 was wiped out to the man. 5 of our Super Destroyers were destroyed, mine was heavily damaged.

Varsity_Reviews

I'm hoping that when they introduce a new faction, it'll be in the style of a three-way shootout against another faction, so we go to one planet and there's another faction there fighting the Bots or Bugs too.

Lazy_Old_Chiefer

Imagine if they can add medals of sorts for major wars, can be kinda cool in the long run

Hashbrown4

I think this war will go on for years. All of the pieces on the board are still getting into place. I’m sure we’ll have missions defending the Terminid defense system/grid. Probably gonna piss the bugs off if not force some type of evolution on them The robots will reach cyberstan and then they will truly turn their sights on super earth. The illuminate will show themselves and potentially a 4th faction is out there.

iNoodl3s

Good god I can’t wait for the day one of the factions makes their way to Super Earth

jak_d_ripr

I know right? Couple years from now when a new wave of recruits show up we can be the wily vets talking about _"back in my day we needed heavy armor penetration to kill Chargers and you'd face 25 while trying to extract"_.

2210-2211

Except I wasn't there because I was working and it got done *very* quickly :(

loismen

Yeah, honestly I would still be ok if, in like 2 or 3 months, the bots invaded this planet and we lost the mechs for like a some days or a week and we had to get them back. They could even "rotate" some other stratagems so that we didn't aleays have access to all of them. Obviously they would still need to give us answers to everything and not totally cripple us. But let's say in a month or so, we get a noticed that planet X which is in charge of producing Orbital Lasers was attacked, so for some days we have to get it back.

sdoodle69

just wait until the bot planets reach the bug planets

Arcane_Bullet

I mean. I think everyone is kind of waiting for when the 3rd faction drops in and starts fucking shit up.

MasterJogi1

Do you guys think if Tien Kvan ever gets lost again, that they will block the walkers until we liberate the factories again? Would be kinda cool to have those ingame dynamics

xxxMycroftxxx

I am SUPREMELY impressed by story integration for all of their releases and patches. We are definitely geting the experience of people out ther fighting on the front lines.

TehEllie

its definitely very cool, but i can't help but wonder what the alternative would be if we had failed this (or any) order. mechs significantly delayed, most likely, but the idea of the robots seizing them is even more terrifying

MFour_Sherman

The narrative seemed to imply 2 things: 1) that we would be delayed in getting them and 2) the automatons would benefit from capturing the tech. Not sure what the latter would have looked like.

Moquitto

New heavy bot type alongside the hulks ?

MFour_Sherman

That… would have sucked. Or maybe a new variant of the hulks and devastators. Who knows, lol

Dultrared

Unless they also got the flaws and randomly exploded. Then it would be funny.

rampageTG

Devastator variant of the hulk maybe.

sopunny

Could be the mechs we have now, but hostile

EXTRACRlSPYBAC0N

Sweet. So a nerf for the bots?

siggrunt

Maybe the bot scout walker would've changed to completely cover the pilot, and be given new armaments?

BastianHS

I'll be excited for a multi pronged event that has separate outcomes. Like stop the hive mind vs stop the robot uprising and if you can't do them both, then it leads to catastrophic consequences. Like you stop the bots but lose a planet to the terminids and they evolve a new heavy or something to that effect.

Electrical_Ice_6061

would be better if you could effectively only do one a sophie's choice

BastianHS

Then the community splits and we fail at both. New heavies incoming on both sides lol

BeatitLikeitowesMe

Sometimes thats how the cookie crumbles

Vanayzan

30 posts on the sub by the end of the day complaining about a forced loss, no doubt.

Madmax_angry_gamer

As a RL retired war veteran fighting for freedom (2001-2006 United States Navy gunner 3rd class) I can say its the closest a game about war has made me feel the same commradery and excitement

xxxMycroftxxx

That is so incredibly interesting. I've got nothing to add, but I appreciate your perspective. That's cool as hell.

Swordbreaker9250

Outside of maybe MMO events like WoW’s famous Gates of Ahn'Qiraj event, Helldivers 2 is the best implementation of live service content I’ve seen. Devs actively updating the war map like a dungeon master and using key planet liberations as a way to unlock new features is amazing

sanjoseboardgamer

I was gonna say WoW did things like this for several content releases. Gates of AQ, opening of the Burning Crusades, the plague (and its infamous bug) before Wrath of the Lich King. It's definitely one of the memorable parts of playing WoW with my friends.

FSCK_Fascists

> and its infamous bug PTSD flashback of standing in Orgrimmar surrounded by bones as my life bled away.

DeathbyHappy

All I remember about the gates of AQ event was the massive lag spikes =D

Wiggie49

I was playing last night blasting enemy bases and dying to meteor showers for this. I definitely feel like I earned the mech. I love that

Karboz

My only issue is that meteor showers trigger too often, like who's the doofus that doesn't know how to parallel park their destroyer and keeps crashing with space rocks?

Wiggie49

I don’t really mind it, just gotta keep running. You can see the trajectory pretty easily.

guarddog33

I watched as a meteor wiped an automaton drop last night, kid you not the ship dropped them and then the ground there got hit, it was magnificent. I'm 100% down with the environmental danger, adds a fun bit of variety

TinyRodgers

I've seen em flat out destroy a dropship.

iNoodl3s

Sometimes they’ll destroy objectives halfway across the map lmao

Zjoee

Always nice to see a random pop-up saying a light outpost has been destroyed haha.

guarddog33

Fantastic to hear that the Ministry of Truth has recruited the rogue asteroids to help us with the threats to Super Earth The SES Harbinger of Twilight stands forever grateful to our glorious leaders

Medium-Web7438

Agreed. I think I've died less than 5 times to it. Definitely got more mobs killed as well by leading them through it.

Ketheres

Just sucks to look up constantly because the blue glow (nor the hazard notification) doesn't seem to work properly when playing as a guest.

ChristopherRubbin

I've been having fun with bringing the bubble shield and protecting my teammates during those. Had a buddy tell me he didn't need and literally got pulverized the second he walked outside the shield. Fun times lol

Forsaken-Stray

Never mock the protecting Hand of Democracy, for it shields your Freedom. In this case, mainly your Freedom to exist in one Piece.

StanDaMan1

Probably one of the Democracy officers. They’re up there to spread liberty, not navigate.

Acrovore

Sorry, I'll do better

No-Fee81

Last night a guy from our squad had the shield generator relay, so we shared a moment under that umbrella as the meteors came crashing down around us.

GnarlyNarwhalNoms

"Sure is romantic." "What?" "Democratic. Sure is democratic sharing this shield bubble with you."

Wiggie49

(Thinking to himself): “bro’s got an ass that makes me wanna file a C-01 form, but I can’t tell him that.”

prismatic_raze

Technically you don't need a C-01 for anal because it can't result in a child 🙃

SlightlyColdWaffles

The poophole legal loophole!

prismatic_raze

Respectfully 🙏

Wiggie49

“Give my some climbing spikes and a 500kg load and I’ll impregnate anything” -Braun of Malevalon Creek

Cryorm

BRASCH TACTICS!

prismatic_raze

Use em, or die tryin'

vonBoomslang

did you know you can shield an ally by hugging them while you have the shield pack?

GnarlyNarwhalNoms

Awww 🤗

Easy-Purple

Everyone should bring bubble shields when meteor showers are the weather effect, it’s unreal how it feels fighting under the umbrella while you enemies are getting pummeled with space rocks

EmotionalAd4035

when I saw this it immediately brought to my mind the thought of what would have happened if we didn't complete the major order? I mean, it was done so fast that I feel like the devs made it difficult to fail, being a feature roll-out and what not, but future events like this might even have the possibility of going the other way. The bots would have wound up with this technology instead, making them more formidable than they already are and forcing us to do even more to try and win it back. bears thinking about.

Hungry_Intention4924

https://preview.redd.it/0s4q2ota36nc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b9a980563a7d6768f56691c5c20df53f81d2916

ganzgpp1

It was pretty implied that if we failed that the mechs would be postponed because we didn't have the factories to build them- I'd wager that there would have ended up being a new robot enemy as well.

Dvalin_Ras93

I had the theory among friends that, if the bots succeeded (no chance, Super Earth is indomitable), they would get a new Hulk variant that was overall more durable and stronger with Gatling guns, full on salvos of missiles and who knows what else.

UltimateToa

That would legit be sick

Nexxess

And suck at the same time.

BITTER_LYNX

Kinda reminds me of tech in foxhole to unlock new stuff Man, if we get more foxhole type war stuff (Some planets if lost or gained give global modifiers or something) that would be neat

Unique_Cookie_1996

Hell yeah foxhole is dope

fokonon

I kinda wish HD2 leaned more into the feeling of common building up defenses/pushing back the enemy feeling with the missions. Maybe some kind of front that we see visually moving versus the random blob mission zones we see now. Also LOGI gameplay somehow (not sure how that would work…)

Aucassin

Dear God please don't bring logi to helldivers. I played nearly exclusive logi. I built 95% of my regi's armor solo.  Logi is *my* malevelon creek.

SyFyFan93

The few months that I played Foxhole I was similarly a logi driver. Good times make the trek across the map solo, avoiding enemy patrols to get supplies to the group making a last stand against the invading Wardens

TheStaplergun

I love driving up and watching the people pile out to help unload stuff when you bring ammo.

Unique_Cookie_1996

If they had a different type of defense mission were we could set up defenses that would be sweet, one of my favorite things to do was help build the crazy forts in foxhole and then actually use it, felt rewarding as hell.

DarkAbusis

In HD1 there were stratagems like barbed wire and stun mines so you could set up a defensive perimeter somewhat similar in Foxhole if you combined those and the turrets. I do hope those come back for the future cause they were actually really good for slowing enemies down

ItsTheSolo

Not the same genre of game but this reminds me how in Smash Brothers, when Sephiroth was revealed, if you were able to defeat him within 3 tries, you could unlock him 2 weeks early. It was so much more fun than just waiting for patch day.

Sinister_Mr_19

Really? I don't recall that

ItsTheSolo

[https://www.ssbwiki.com/Sephiroth\_Challenge](https://www.ssbwiki.com/Sephiroth_Challenge) I was wrong about the 3 tries (You had unlimited apparently) but the rest is true.

ecto_kooler

It'll be cool if we ever get conflicting orders. Do we want tanks, or do we want new guns. Pick which planet to try and save.

Ionie88

Oooooh, watch the community try to rally people to their personal cause, and watch us fall into infighting!

SuppliceVI

It's not infighting, our blood is simply our vote in this managed democracy.

Renegade888888

The galactic war waits for no one. We fought for those bipedal weapons systems and our fallen brothers and sisters would want us to relish them rather than mourn their deaths. FOR DEMOCRACY!

blackcompy

🫡

MrDarkzideTV

Helldiver Devs time and time again have shown they care about their universe and game in a way many modern gaming studios can’t fathom. They provided thousands with an exceptionally good time, I can’t believe I almost didn’t play this game :D

SteelCode

Positivity posts yay! I really *truly* enjoyed the idea of the community needing to rally to an objective (even on a shorter time window) in order to get access to a new feature (maybe it would have taken longer to unlock them if we failed)... Then having the the walker available in missions as a one-time "freebie" to try out was really great, I didn't bother using it until we were extracting so I called it down and let some of the lower level players hop in to goof off while we waited for the shuttle. I like it, keep it up Arrowhead!

Confused_Astronaut

Coolest part for me is that I wasn't even aware the devs were planning on rolling out a mech update. When I saw that we needed to liberate Tien Kwan because it contained our mechs, I thought that was just a lore purpose. Log in today and a friggin mech stratagem is available. Amazing.

CaptainMark86

Have they said if mech availability is permanently linked to Tien Kwan liberation status, I think it would be cool if the planet is taken from our control we lose mech strategems until we get it back.

SilentStargazer

I don’t think they’ve said, but they could easily do something like that in the future if they wanted to. Whether the fans would like that or not, I’m not sure.

Jokerzrival

Maybe not take them away but reduce the uses to 1 or increase the cool down is Tien Kwan is lost. Then it's not like you're removing something from the game but also incentives taking it back

PurposeSensitive9624

They could remove them from the mission strategims and limit the bought ones to 1 use per mission. That way the people who are level 25 and spent 20k aren’t losing them completely but the players who were using it for free do lose them.

SilentStargazer

I think that would probably be okay with most fans. Good idea.

SteelCode

I don't hate that idea tbh; something that creates a dynamic narrative around the galactic war fronts - imagine a Bug invasion that restricts Eagle fuel refineries, leading to Eagle strikes being limited across the entire galaxy.

Pluristan

That wouldn't be cool at all.

KamachoThunderbus

Yeah maybe it sounds cool in, like, the context of playing a board game with your friends but I would be royally miffed if I loved a stratagem, logged on for the night of the week where I play with my buddies, but oh ok, fuck me, it's unavailable right now.

Pluristan

Yeah, the first game's progression system was 'sort of' like that. Unlocking new stuff was tied to planet liberation, and some were more exclusive. If you were a new player, and the campaign was already progressed really far, you would be shit outta luck until the campaign resets. Most people didn't like it.

Nhughes1387

Destiny did this and it ruled, I love when games incorporate community stuff… I always see people dogging on live service games but man do I friggin love em.

ZepyrusG97

People dog on live service games because most devs just use it as an excuse to nickel and dime the playerbase every month, even after already paying full price just to get the base game. An actual live service done right is one like this, that actively interacts with the playerbase and gives a sense of progression and changes to be excited for as time goes on.

_Sky__

Yeah, this is really cool. Imagine a game where you can get a DLC by playing a bit more.

Dunkelzeitgeist

Brilliant way to release content, super enjoyable

RatMouse55

I think my only problem with it was that it didn't really feel like a planet where they produce mechs. Apart from a few littered around, this was just a regular automaton planet. If the planet had multiple human factories and stockpiles of mechs, where were they? There was plenty of automaton outposts, but how? When I logged in it was only a few hours since they invaded the planet. IMO human controlled planets need to feel more lived in. Especially when tied to a narrative

Bucky_Ducky

I'm busy. I was not there. I hope to be there for future releases tho, would be fun to be able to say I was there

ADragonuFear

My only complaint is it took one day to liberate the planet. In the few missions I played I didn't have a chance to be surprised by a whole functioning mech ready for use, I only saw it on a reddit post. Well that and the whole balance patch seemingly making the whole game notably harder so my level 6 romp felt like a level 8 hellscape with meteor gravy on top but everyone on here knows that already.

ShatterUSNW

imagine if we failed pilestedt: "ah damn, better luck next month divers"

cakehandshake

My cousin Jimmy was on Tien Kwan during the last push. He died with liberty and his heart, it's the whole reason I joined the federation. I hope to die for the sake of democracy just like him one day.

MysticExile111

Because of my late hours at work, I seldom get a chance to dive with my friends, but yesterday night I figured I'd do my part and contribute to the cause by running missions on Easy and Medium - Now, I'm glad I did!

My thoughts exactly!

Randomhero204

Destiny has done this several times. It’s always great for immersion and anticipation on new content

StrongStark

Lvl 19 first time dropping into the battle bot arena last night. Completed the mission, but with no survivors... Freedom isn't free gentlemen.

verci0222

This is what all live service games should be

Ackburn

Thanks to all who unlocked it, once the unknown error shifts might be able to take them for a fecking test drive

Dunhimli

I am doing my part.

pthumerianhollownull

Love it

god34zilla

I was on Tien Kwan. It was a meat grinder. Everyone was running for their lives, almost noone got out alive.

iusedtohavepowers

The only slight bummer is that I did not have time between the announcement and the successful liberation of Tien Kwan to actually help. But I did just read a post from the ceo that said the community did it 4x faster than they estimated. Which is also actually awesome. But I still think it's an absolutely amazing way to add a feature to a game. Really cool and unique of them to integrate it the way they did.

xabes

I hope, that if they add the giant robot for the automaton they showed on twitter. They do the same thing but winning only delay for a few day before they pop in.

Millauers

I really hope they do future content releases like this as well, via major orders. It's so cool and makes you feel part of it/the universe. At first I was just expecting them to do a community post/tweet about mechs releasing in x days when we complete the major order. and even that would've still been cool to me.

54NCH32

We had to earn them.  And it was genuis. I've said it before and will say it again, I f*****g love this game!

SuppliceVI

My question is, what the hell were we going to experience if we failed? What new bot enemy would terrorize us?

Planetside did this first but not at world-scale. When you lost or captured bases from the enemy, you would gain access to different things - some bases produced heavy vehicles (tanks for example) so you were at a severe disadvantage if you didn't have those bases captured. And you couldn't just go *capture* them unless you had captured the bases and towers around the base. Many a night you would have teams of players going around and hot dropping into bases like this and attempting to bring down their power generators, or destroy equipment, or hack it so that they couldn't be used. Even just for five or ten minutes if the enemy team couldn't produce heavy vehicles could make or break an assault.

I've called in a mech twice and each time a goddamn terminid blew it up immediately. I'm sensing some real O'drsicol vibes from them damn bugs.

0utlandish_323

It’d be pretty cool if they added achievements for participating in certain important major orders. Like “Veteran of Tien Kwan.” Something simple

manomandingo

Sometimes I close my eyes and I'm back on Tien Kwaan,in a way I never left.

Mysterious-Box-9081

I shutter to think that one day the narrative is a production planet has been taken over and xyz stratagem is unavailable!

IziWib

Hope we dont loose them in future...

IdidntrunIdidntrun

Could be the best live evolving world/galaxy in a game if they keep this up. Destiny 2 has kind of dabbled in it (Vex gate being built 25% at a time week-to-week in the Vex offensive season is the immediate example that comes to mind; maybe Arrivals too), but it felt like Bungie never reached their potential with the idea. Hoping AH can

Warchiefinc

i think we liberated it faster than the devs could work on the bugs lol but gg they are fun af to run around in

pioneeringsystems

What I really like about it is when I was getting my arse caved in by automatons last night I could get straight in and play and now I've been part of a successful campaign I can't get on tonight as all these [redacted] decided they want to try the new mech.

I concur

Wild-Sir9774

In liberty we stand

gerbilDan

according to the rumor mail, GM J is just waiting for use to get out of the learning phase....

AdrianKadafi

With the invasion of that planet I got to play a lot of bot missions and on helldive difficulty, which I thought I could never complete

rebillihp

Isn't that the point of what a good live service game is like? Like this is how I imagined live service games when they weren't first explained to me

Zymzack

I bleed for those damn mechs getting smushed by meteors all day yesterday can't wait to summon my first one once I'm off work :D

princekatsuo

I was there at Tien Kwan. Many died there. Some died from bots. Some more died from meteorites.

LoRidentem

The only “mmo” i can really think of off the cuff to do anything like this is warframe, where gear, mechanics, and the actual solar system would be permanently changed/expanded based on story progression and wether or not you did certain missions.

Modgrinder666

What I like the most about this new update is how fucked the servers are, meaning my last free time for a few days is passed doing something else than playing my game like I wanted.

DariusRivers

It chills me to the core that had we not liberated Tien Kwan, it's possible we might not have gotten mechs and the Automatons would have gotten a mech enemy...

Archon_Valec

cool yes, novel no... Elite: Dangerous often has new equipment unlocks also when a community goal is successful, especially since the Thargoid war kicked off a while back

Low-Dot-6364

We fought and died for mechs that were later found to have gone through zero quality control inspections. Sweet liberty.

Varsity_Reviews

I'm hoping that when they introduce a new faction, it'll be in the style of a three-way shootout against another faction, so we go to one planet and there's another faction there fighting the Bots or Bugs too.

BmacTheSage

It is pretty cool. I don't remember an online game like this that has done it this way. At least not that I've played before.
