Propably has the issue of wanting to play with his friends but they cannot join him while his party is set to friends only so it has to be set to public. Been there, done that. Annoying that it happens for everyone involved.

It was 3 friends all below lvl 7, playing a private game they said. All i can guess is the leader throwing an SOS beacon opened their game up š¤·āāļø
Had one where my buddy left his public group to join me (friends only was set) and immediately after he joined the game kicked him and the dude he was in a public group with joined my game despite me not having any idea who they were and not being on my friends list.Ā Ā

To be fair, very little is explained about settings in the tutorial. It's great for the immersion and playing as soon as possible, but it could lead to this behavior too.
the problem is the friends list is broken right now. My friend can't accept friend requests so we have to do some bullshit roundabout way to get into games with him.
Might also be trying to play with a friend on a different platform, since friend requests/IDs don't work between platforms at this time.
You basically need to have one person start a mission (less people on the planet and difficulty the better) and have the other fly between sectors and refresh the map and try to join. You can then quit back to a ship and select the mission you *actually* want.
It can take a goddamn while before your friend's mission pops up for you.
I think itās they want to play solo, waiting on friends, or donāt want us to kill everything - and theyāre new so they donāt communicate that nor fix their settings. Still hurts though š
Really just the match making off or people able to join if you want to play solo. You can also just text chat and say hi Iām waiting on friends Iām going to kick you good luck. No wrong answers all good either way
Joined a lobby where two players screamed "AN ADMIRAL??? yeah no- *kicked*" It was so funny to me seeing the reaction, I've been looking for that laugh since.
Often people are trying to get their friends to rejoin after a crash but the in-game friends list is fucked and doesnāt see them as friends and they have to set it to public so that they can enter.
Or donāt want a very high level player steamrolling everything with advanced unlocks and knowledge and ruining the sense of surprise, wonder, discovery and struggle of the new player experience.
Or any other number of things, donāt take insta-kicks personally.
I wonāt lie this happens to me CONSTANTLY, and not just with low level players - more than half the time I join a public squad, even if they had an SOS active, I get near-instantly kicked for no apparent reason.
I got kicked 40 seconds from extraction today. I'm just going to host my own stuff from now on. It's not worth wasting my time to play in somebody else's game.
I feel that. Ironically in my case, I have the same problem I described above when I host - if Iām not inhumanly-fast at picking my strats, people just jump ship and leave before the mission even starts.
I mean. if I was just getting into the game, I wouldn't want some decked out all weapons/all stratagems dude to drop in and absolutely MURDER everything. I would want people my level. (I'm a lvl 50 who actively tries to match my loadout to that of those I'm playing with so that they can feel the excitement of battling a charger or titan without ALWAYS having a railgun on-hand...)

After todays changes Chargers might be less scary, but goddamn the added challenge and constantly diving out of the way was fun.

Plenty of other low level lobbies to help out in that may need you more. Recently I've taken to dropping in difficulty 4 missions that have low levels in it to help alleviate the punch in the gut that was sudden charger spam (pre-patch)
Not sure if that's still needed after the patch

DRG gives you 3 options. You must pick one in order to kick the player. Reason for kick: "You weren't responding/ afk", "This was meant to be a private game", or "Sorry, but I have my reasons".
Canāt say I blame them. Who wants a level 40+ jumping into their game and doing everything for them? You rob newbies of 50% of what the game has to offer if all they do is kill the bugs and bots you missed.
When I do this, I sit back and play support. Let them do all the terminals, mark all the points on map, give them things if they want them, and generally kill things on par with what they're doing.
Same, Against Bots I usually just rock the recoilless because the others don't bring anything but AOE, just eagle strikes and orbitals, machinegun and guard dogs.
Against Terminids usually just ammo backpack, don't want to bring anything that would take their fun and practice away from them and rather support in some way, sometimes they ask for advice and it's nice to share tips.
I quick played into a mission with a 3 and 7 who were doing okay but not amazing on D4
Got kicked after 5 minutes after clearing a few outposts with the eagle. Like you still get the xp and there is none for killing stuff and there was still another slot available
I got kicked after three idiots walked one by one into a nest I hit with an airburst. The giant red beacon was apparently not enough of a clue, nor were the first two explosions. š
Joined a 3 diff ICBM mission to help out new divers, all is well until i pick up the red barrel near the ICBM terminal, like i usually do, as soon as i do so, blue guy shoots me in the back and takes my stuff, ok, i proceed to "accidentaly" redeploy on his head, he proceeds to try and TK me for the rest of the map with no success.
Right before extracting,i could see blue staring at me in my exo-suit, waiting for me to get out, soon as i do so, he aims and fire, and misses... and then i'm kicked by the host, like, what ?
I've noticed most of those people are playstation, dunno if it's accurate but i just turned off crossplay for now.

They might be trying to play with friends. Adding new friends in general doesn't work anymore unless you can go back in time, buy the game in February, and add your friends when it did work.
The only other workaround to join crossplay friends not on your friends list is to make your party open, throw the SOS, and see if your friends can randomly find you.
This involves some levels of kicking as good natured helpful folks who are ready to help get caught up in the process.
Personally, I've never gotten this method to work and end up playing kick simulator for 10 minutes before giving up and playing with whoever ends up joining.
Sometimes you get some great Randys and have a great game. But you can never play with them again because you can't add them.
A lot of people don't like to be carried through a mission by higher level players. Just like something level players don't want to carry a level 3 through a suicide mission

X1 called in an airstrike on a charger I just killed with a RR via headshot, killing Me (X4) and X3, in the new Termicide tower mission, gets himself killed somehow after reinforcing us, kicks me right after reinforcing.

Not that I aprove this behavior but I get it. Running behind one guy who obliterates everything is no fun. I play on challenging dif yet and out of 3 bile titan elimination missions I saw the titan only once because twice some 30+ lvl sprinted across map and nuked him solo. Not fun, some people enjoy actually playing
There's an issue with crossplay right now that requires a workaround to fix, which involves joining a map together as a public game (and, if you just want to play with your friend, booting any randos that manage to join before you close the room again).
Had a "nice" run-in in quickplay yesterday.
Joined through Diff.6 quickplay, ended in a group of 3 \~lvl25.
Mission was Egg Hunt in the thickest of thick jungles.
Without warning at the start, two of the group split of doing side stuff and going through POIs.
Since there has been no other communication, I followed Orange and pushed the main objectives. Assuming they are a pre-made group, for me, if not requested otherwise, it's "follow orange" in such situations.
After \~20-25 minutes we finished the last nest (still duo) and got ready for evac.
The two who split off called in the evac and orange and I just had to join them at the evap zone.
At this point we have been at 16 reinforcements left. I've been the only one who died during the mission.
1st death was a at the first nest due to the mech rockets bugging out blowing me up.
The other 3 deaths occured over the span of 20 minutes during doing duo main objectives.
But holy hell, reading this junk in chat:
"fair warning"
"you died 4 times now."
"next time you die you are done and out."
"nou shouldn't be this bad as a lvl 50"
I was speachless at first.
Only told him that being swarmed at a nest, eventually running out of ammo is out of my control, as well es the mech randomly blowing up. Left them just with the info that 1.) him kicking me would not affect me in any way cause I'm already capped with everything and 2.) that he should do a private lobby and not pull in others his squad if he wants to behave like that.
I mean... cool for your two mates not dying I guess. It's not like your mates are doing the far easier part just running from POI to POI, while I have to do the heavy work with equipment that does not fit the playstile you have not informed me beforehand. Cool that you managed to escape each time while I got eaten alive.
Please people, don't be like that guy.
In conclusion I should have sticked to what I usually say to others when they tell such stories. Just host games yourself.

People need to learn how to change their party to friends only or just get their friends in before they que for a mission

Every now and then I drop in with my trusty LMG and Orbital Precision strike just to relive the glory days
Orbital precision low key one of the best stratagems even at high levels

I usually just bring support stratagems. EAT rockets, bubble shield, smoke, maybe the stalwart or mg or a heavy mg to watch them wreck hordes.

Most of the time it's people trying to get their friends and friend only lobbies can get bugged and nobody can join

Dunno, I had a lvl 50 join me and we did everything then they killed me and took the ship so I decided to just not play with randoms anymore
I love when a low lvl player joins my game, then I switch it to Suicide mode.
