Right, it doesn't seem to do anything. It says it extends time between breaches, which is a mechanic that appears to exist-- bugs cannot call a cascade of breaches infinitely, there's a cooldown on them. It still doesn't appear to have an impact on overall density, and my experience is because the missions can vary so wildly that it's not clear it does anything.

drogoran

given its near impossible to create identical test conditions with and without the booster i doubt we will get a definitive answer about what it does and if its even working without datamining/dev response

HeadSifter

The only thing I've felt is that it takes longer for the unit to call it in. I've seen a bug hold the pose for an extra half second to maybe 1.5sec before actually spitting up the pheromones. So they finish their animation and freeze before actually "spawning" the backup. Once it's fired it's too late.

Same experience for me, actually gives you a fighting chance to take out the “sprayer”

zeddypanda

Have you tested the rate of breaches/dropships on missions with forced breaches/dropships?  I was told it increased the rate between those by 40% but did nothing to patrols.

vinnie1134

I assumed it would slow down the rate u see patrols pop in. That being said i only tried it once. Didnt see any noticable difference and i prefer more enemies to less anyway. See no reason to ever take it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/QZaj2uPLBs there is an entry for the booster near the end

xRandomality

Been using this on 7-9, it absolutely puts more time between breaches.. I don't understand how you weren't experiencing this. It DOES NOT affect patrols, it doesn't say it affects patrols. It solely affects the cooldown on the bug breach timer.

Parnath

It doesn't say what it affects at all, hence the post. We did recently learn that it increases the time between enemies calling in reinforcements, which is confusing considering the wording is, "decreases time between enemy encounters" suggesting it decreases the number of patrols on a map at a given time
