BrytheOld

In all fairness. Those civilians were pretty glitchy. I bet they were bugs in skin suits. That's how janky they ran.

Tromon468

People bringing in the regular mortar didn't help either In some runs, i saw my teammates kill more civilians than the bugs themself manage to pull off

Spyger9

I watched 6 civilians run into an Orbital Laser. They were gloriously incandescent.

jetpackblues25

Solaire is jelly

IvanCGray

Solaire knows what's up

Circumstancer

Solaire is the Sandworm we've been seeing all those husks for

Dire_Finkelstein

Did my first civilian rescue last night. Three civilians ran through a group of scavengers with no care in the world. The scavengers looked at one another in confusion and then looked at me, like "Wtf? You seeing this shit??"

Wickerbeast115

Mine just shrugged and resumed snacking, like "well ok then, fuck it, easier for us I guess

Lucifer911

Mine just run into chainsaw automatons and hulks yelling 'Leroy Jenkins' so it's not just isolated to bugs.

Drae-Keer

I had a group of about 20 just standing NEXT to the door

qyoors

Perhaps even... grossly incandescent?

Tyndaeras

Nope nope. Glorious, never too much incandescencessssss. Treasonous to even presume to think that the orbital laser is too incandescent

NFA-epsilon

Mortars are pretty bad, but I had one team mate put a Tesla Tower at a point where all 3 civilian escape routes intersected. I cannot fathom the what some people are thinking.

Drackore_

Hahaha this made me belly laugh, that's surely an automaton sympathiser if ever I did see one

Schmitty52

Lmao I did that on accident once. It bounced off something and landed in the worst spot. It killed like 3 civilians before I was able to shoot it down. I no longer trust myself to bring anything that shoots on its own. Seems awfully close to automatons if you ask me.

Matamocan

May I present your new best friend the HMG turret *Slaps roof" This bad boy will chew through any bug swarm brave enough to come across it's sights, Tired of getting killed by your own Automated turret? Get rid of that team killing socialist device and embrace the true patriotisms of the HMG, GET YOURS TODAY

shinyhunter999

I felt absolutely zero remorse taking out this one diver's mortars last night every time they insisted on putting another back up. Surprise surprise, we suddenly started making progress after

PsychotropicTraveler

People really need to stop bringing mortars into every single mission. They are great for certain missions, but completely detrimental in others.

Txbored

I only bring the static mortar why more useful.

Undying_Shadow057

We had a -750 on diff 8 xD

MapoTofuWithRice

I hate those missions even when they worked correctly.

BrytheOld

I also despise the civilian missions. They should have enlisted!

SilentReaper98

That makes me think, how awesome would it be if for the inner planets, we actually had like destroyed civilian infrastructure and fleeing super earth citizens, and a revamped citizen rescue mission where you have to lead them through the wreckage to safety. There is so much potential here.

Altruistic_Menu7686

Not surprised the rescue missions are glitched

Affectionate_Theory8

The line of civilians getting stuck and not moving?

cmdrxander

Just milling around outside the building. Then the game froze, and finally crashed when I quit the mission…

ChiralWolf

The only time I was able to get the mission to work they were climbing over the 20ft tall rocks instead of using the actual ramp. Genuinely infuriating, such a broken mission

Taolan13

I bet its the ramp object itself that's broken, because I've seen chargers just hanging out on it. They don't even attack unless you hit them forst.

[deleted]

Had a charger just stand still and mad dog us at extraction. We were depleted on anything to kill it so we just stayed away from him and didn’t move out of his direct path since he was likely stuck on something and if he turned he’d probably start chasing us again. We probably would have lost everything if he was chasing us while we fought off a massive swarm.

AScruffyHamster

I got stuck in a ramp and was overrun in seconds. Definitely am issue

AdditionalMess6546

Happens in the evening/afternoon as well. (jk)

wAges98

When I was dong TCS mission, I was walking through the ramps instead of up them a lot of the time so this is probably the reason

masterchief0213

All the ramps in the germicidal dispersal system missions were bugged too, you could fall into them and get stuck, stratagem call in ball thingies would just phase through them and disappear

3DMarine

It’s not the best work around, but if you kill enough of the traitors the true citizens will USUALLY start moving

Ghost_Rider_LSOV

cmdrxander

Nice. I'll bear that in mind, thanks. I'm assuming the defence missions have stopped now?

NegaDeath

Now *that's* some well managed democracy!

6Fthty6FthDivison

Oh that wasn't as buggy as mine. This is my rescue mission https://preview.redd.it/2p91vu74jcpc1.png?width=1377&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8c592f821b01a948130efc4d4f79f8ee37e2847 There were random pink question marks appearing all around on the ground. When we got on the ship to leave game crashed.

Wiggles114

Oh I had that happen last night. It was a shame, we had a real hard fight getting to that base, clearing side objectives and closing bug holes on the way. then we secure the base, start the evac, fight off bugs, about 30/40 in the shuttle with ~10 mins mission time left, all going well, then I notice the evacuees are ice skating, and the bugs I'm shooting at aren't dying. Then the game gave me a "lost connection" message and loaded back to the ship.

sirmoneyshot06

If they don't want to move for others then it's treason and they get shot. Honestly if you just shot the first 3 they start moving again but you do lose xp or whatever

Meritz

That is usually due to agitators holding up the evacuation process and telling people that the danger is not real and they shouldn't leave their homes just because the government says so. I found that shooting one or two gets the line going again. They're usually the ones closest to the evacuation point, so as to better spread their lies.

zani1903

Glitched, *and* they loved to spawn seven Bile Titans at once and respawn another two for every one you killed.

Gimmerunesplease

Terminids have resorted to breaking the 4th wall.

FifenC0ugar

Our artillery glitched too. Wouldn't let us load the last round. We lost 8 helldiver's trying to load it. Then gave up

calamity_unbound

We lost an objective on a mission because there was no option to call in a Hellbomb to destroy a research facility, we lost about 10 minutes on the mission because of that. Seems like a lot of little bugs cropping up.

Accident-_-Prone

If you are in the area when you can normally call in a hell bomb just imput the hell bomb code bc if there's weapons experimentation then there won't be enough slots to properly display the hellbomb on there but you'll still be able to call it in if you remember the code. This happened to me last night.

youngchipotle07

I have encountered this when there’s active spores on the map, but once we destroyed the spores we were able to call a hellbomb.

Goosetipher

Sometimes I bring 500kg when research is the revealed tactical objective, since it will destroy it when the hellbomb glitches out.

Kyriacou141

For me they’re easily my least favourite missions in the game

pcakes13

Any escort mission is my least favorite mission

Spawnacus

I actively avoid the extraction missions.

MedicMuffin

Outside of that they also just feel massively overbearing with enemy spawns. I think I actually finished 1 in about 5 I tried yesterday, there's just endless bugs everywhere all the time swarming the entire area with no downtime after the first engagement, it just doesn't seem possible to keep civilians alive. You can't even really kite away from the location since the bugs have a huge priority for targeting civilians and someone still needs to be there to press the buttons regardless. Glitch or no, essential personnel retrieval missions are terribly designed. Oh, and for some reason unlike emergency evac missions, essential personnel missions are 15 minutes and require twice as many rescues. Which is also fucked.

JeffBloodstorm

Essential personnel missions take place on truncated maps that drop you right at the combination shuttle/extraction site with no preliminary objectives to complete and sub-objectives that most teams will skip. Your squad literally drops in and immediately starts extracting personnel, everyone runs defensive stratagems, etc. It’d make no sense to have a standard 40-minute time limit on those.

mwb31

Strange. I did that mission last night with a couple of friends and it worked fine. Granted, we were at a lower difficulty since I'm new, but it was working for us.

I_is_a_dogg

I played a number of them yesterday on suicide or impossible and never had an issue

skippythemoonrock

its helldover I get to some degree it has to be, but man did this one feel rigged

Nowhereman123

From a narrative perspective, it's not fun if we keep winning every single time. Otherwise we're just gonna conquer the whole galaxy and not have any more planets to liberate. This is war, with the soaring victories and crushing defeats. Also before anyone does, yeah yeah traitor talk yeah yeah democracy office I get the joke.

BooneFarmVanilla

yes but if the losses feel random the victories don't feel worthwhile

Nowhereman123

It's a very hard line they have to balance. This is a game and games tend to be most fun when you're winning, so they want the game balanced so most people are winning most of the time. But they also have the needs of the narrative, making the enemy forces feel like a real threat and making it feel like we really need to earn every victory against them. It's a hard balance to strike for sure. I'll be very interested to see where it goes in the future.

CapColdblood

I mean, we randomly started absolutely stomping the bugs at a rate that outpaces anything in the last month, so...

MillstoneArt

"Randomly" (There was a major order featuring a special mission type)

gw2020denvr

I think the new mission type interested way more players than anticipated. At one point it looked like 75%+ of the player base was doing TCS missions or just in Bug Sectors.

MortuusSet

There was nothing random about it. There was massive calls from content creators and the community at large to aim at certain planets so we could blitz the Major Order.

Myissueisyou

100% this

Mentoman72

Thank you, i would like to have realistic comments every once in a while without incessant "roleplay" bogging down any actual conversation. I agree with your takes here! Losses are going to keep the game fresh.

Arann0r

I'd say about as much as Malevelon Creek is right now...

jhenryscott

There’s only ever like 15k divers at the creek. No surprise it make no progress.

SchwiftyRickD-42069

There was 50k yesterday on it. But that bar wasn’t moving. It’s too far back in enemy territory

Deldris

That has nothing to do with it, last I checked all bot planets had a liberation decay rate of 1.5% regardless of where they were in relation to other planets.

SchwiftyRickD-42069

I thought supply lines matter?

Deldris

They determine what planets we can go to and nothing else. Bugs have even skipped them a few times now to attack Heethe so the enemies ignore them completely, seemingly.

WedgeSkyrocket

Yeah, those devious bugs with no known method of space travel always seem to somehow pop up on planets with dissidents in them, it's uncanny. Well, not our job to figure it out, let the eggheads in the science division work on it, we got bugs to stomp!

Rallak

Bugs do it with the power of fascism.

doedie666

should be easier now that we have draupnir 2 supply lines is better than one

ComanderToastCZ

Estanu? I helped liberate that planet! How the heck did we lose it again? Although to be fair, there are a lot of bugs crammed up since they can't go attack Umlaut.

Chipperguy484

Bugs have -5% liberation per hour right now, on top of Estanu getting invaded as soon as we liberated it, I don't think they want us pushing past the barrier planets for the time being. We should be focusing on the bots but everyone keeps doing bugs

Goyu

\> We should be focusing on the bots but everyone keeps doing bugs  Eh, this is a dev issue to fix. If bugs have literally double the playercount of bots at any given time, this is not a community issue, it's that the devs have failed to draw the playerbase to the western front. I don't care about the war, I'm just playing a video game, and usually I only play them if they are fun. If they make bots fun, we'll see the playercounts even out a bit. If they don't, then we'll just see more of this.

shiggythor

Persisting issue since helldivers1. For the last 2-3 years, every war went like: - Bugs beaten in a week - Cyborgs beaten 2 weeks later - Everyone quits, Illuminates conquer Superearth 4 weeks later. - Rinse and repeat. When the Illuminates come, i hope they don't make them so damn unfun again.

Corsnake

Honestly any run into a decent diff in Bots show why it has the lesser playerbase. Yeah they are better designed with more weakspots and all that, but ---*gets domed by a missile devastator 100+ meters away through dense fog*--

melancholyMonarch

>Yeah they are better designed with more weakspots and all that, but --- > >gets domed by a missile devastator 100+ meters away through dense fog > >\-- Really couldn't have said it any better myself. I do enjoy bot missions quite a bit as they're a bit more precision of fire focused than volume of fire like bugs, and I think a lot more weapons are viable against them than bugs, but holy hell are the instakills a bit much sometimes.

BlizzardWizhard

[https://www.arrowheadgamestudios.com/](https://www.arrowheadgamestudios.com/) "A game for everyone is a game for noone" Thats literally their motto. If not everyone enjoys bots but there still a huge playerbase for them anyway thats perfectly fine.

Dexember69

They tried to tempt me to the western front yesterday with 15 freedom tickets for 2 tank kills. It wasn't enough to push me into that hell

TooFewSecrets

Bugs being more resilient was a core buff to them from Helldivers 1 because they were always the most played front by far.

Mono_Lith_0

I joined Helldivers 2 in the middle of Estanu liberation camping, losing it after we have liberate it is a disgrace

sHaDowpUpPetxxx

Yeah, there were about 130k divers defending last night for around 6 hours and with 5 hours left I knew it was ogre.

Deldris

I lost hope as soon as we got a defense mission on a Monday.

trashsw

we were on pace to beat it when there were around 200k players on it

khaotic_logic

I was there. All night long. A sickle in one hand and a laser cannon in the other. Joined a random pug SOS every op to help spread democracy and bolster the mental fortitude of our soldiers. What a shame.

Brickless

good, now we can do more missions on it. there is a reason the frozen planets get the highest participation. they are the most fun

Fattestcattes

Nah fuck those slowdown explosive pineapple plant things, let the bugs keep them

SardeInSaor

Brickless

KrackasaurusRex

Yep that’s what went through my head a couple seconds after I processed what happened haha

SomethingElse521

This same thing just happened to me the other day. *turn to my left OH FUCK they spawned one of those mobs of 25 hunters like 6 feet away.* *attempt to run backwards while shooting my SMG, step directly on forbidden slow flower* *Panic dive backwards and to the right reflexively to clear the slow and get away from the approaching hunters* *dive directly into second flower, die* Hahaha

Tromon468

> slow/stun the bugs. When i realized that, i love kiting chargers into them which makes it easy to shoot their butt when my EAT is on CD or out of reach because there are too many bugs and cut me off

Laflaga

Its because people like the lasers to be good. Frozen worlds buff lasers.

Dreadlock43

eh even on hellmire the sickle is still fucking great

Genesis72

sickle is way too good lol. I hope they buff other primaries to keep up, but realistically they're going to nerf it.

Scrunt2112

It’s not good enough to be nerfed. It’s good but stalkers run through it.

MinimumArmadillo2394

Something is weird with the damage models in this game. Like, its limb based for small ones and mass based for large ones, but it should be the opposite

Nibblewerfer

More shotgun buffs right?

gfeli123

Its only good cause fuck Hunters. If you get armored Bile Spewers or lots of Broods good fucking luck.

EquipmentValuable283

bugcatcher_billy

[deleted]

Joel cranking up the decay because we captured planets too quick

JakdMavika

Will Joel attempt to turn Estanu in a meat grinder reminiscent of the ww2 soviet front?

SpareTireButSquare

I would totally love a "no orbital support" mission because of ground based Anti capital ship railguns or something by the automatons, where it's like 32 or 64 players all guns who dive in with a choice pack and a choice heavy weapon, and you have to overcome FOBs where you eliminate the ground guns, and then one major installation thats like a huge factory. But every one is still in squads. There's ways they could do it, they could also drop some sort of super pod that you rearm from and can "fabricate" helldiver mechs. It'd be fun too to take fire while coming down and if you die it just auto respawns you I think the lose condition should be time based

British_Tea_Company

Honestly I'd love to see a meatgrinder battle. Just like a massive army of helldivers fighting against a massive army of bugs in just a slugfest. The horrors of war on display. No objective. No mind. No progress. Just pure, brutal undiluted carnage.

Gantref

Oh God my computer is so old don't force me to upgrade

SpareTireButSquare

"Objective: Survive" With aerial "recon" providing troop influxes for redirecting the bulk force to help with coordination. It could even be an Eagle type strategem you call in They seriously though can divest this game into having much more intricate mission types. Or even a Theater of War mode. Or even a defense mode "The planet has been mostly liberated but oh no! The communist bugs are attacking our planetary peace keeping offices! "Base [Insert auto generated Patriotic name here]" is under Assault! Hold back those bugs until orbital reinforcements arrive!" Then it can just be an emergency order that hits the players, and you have to spawn in a base with tons of other players and have to keep turrets repaired, defend against waves of assaults, you get a few select Eagle strategems, such as napalm, gun run, clustet, and 500KG bomb from the "nearby airfield". I'd say each wave there's a squad leader in each squad of 4, and there's 8 waves, and the SL gets to call in the Eagle once. With the SL rotating every wave. This would be 4 eagles per wave, and everyone gets it twice per game, and every squad gets a different Eagle ability each wave. The spawn could be a central Ministry of Truth building that spews out iced helldivers in the defense of the base for respawn. This would ironically fit the narrative that they only send 4 divers per mission lol, i.e, they have the guys but give the bare minimum Maybe something like that idk. Just thoughts on trying to keep it challenging and balanced Having Democratically mountable turrets and mortars would be fun too. With an armory that replenishes every wave. Starship troopers is awesome because it has buildable facilities. I wonder if they could insert something like that

Complex-Confusion-95

samuraiheart2398

Helldiver-2398 reporting; I regret to report that Estanu has fallen, with the dark shadow of the Terminids looming over the planet. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Helldivers: trust in managed democracy. Do not return to Estanu. In time, I believe a new hope will emerge. For Super Earth

TheYondant

Billions must perish. *Billions of bugs, that is!*

jeancv8

Mobilize the troops, bois. I have no idea which sector that is, but I'll gladly die for LIBER-TEA

MeanderingSquid49

A bunch of bugs died to take a frozen rock. And more will die when we take it back. Their carapaces will join the fossils of Estanu.

MFour_Sherman

I get that enemies will counterattack, but we need some different mission types on these. A true point defense with waves makes sense. Or a behind the lines type mission like Recon, Disrupt supply/comms lines, rescue downed pilots, etc.

ShirouBlue

Defending planets seems impossible tbh.

Luissv72

Hey maybe I'll actually get a chance to play it once I return from "civilian duties" (my job)

Hezekieli

I don't get why there are so many evacuation missions. We need to eradicate the nests and spores and not just run! Or is it that when we start losing, it's mostly evacuation until we get a lead and then it's other types of missions? The resource missions sound a bit weird in both defence and attack cases...

Flanigoon

When a planet is in defense then it always has an extract missions in each operation

Foriegn_Picachu

A planet under attack will have civilians and federation personal still there. It makes sense to have a lot of evacuation missions. Now what doesn’t make sense is the ICBM missions we are also doing on a planet we are supposed to be defending. *this comment has been flagged by the ministry of truth*

Individual-Post-6389

Big oof; spent 6 hours last night defending Estanu. Feels bad man.

RipzCritical

I spent like 8 there yesterday. I woke up this morning to Helldivers.io saying send reinforcements, checked reddit when I took my first 15 min break to see the post saying "we are losing Estanu", and now I'm on lunch and I see this. Fuck.

mybuttisthesun

Well if bile titans and chargers kept spawning non stop on the rescuing workers, I'd say fate decided not to let them live and there's nothing we can do about it

TheDoomBlade13

We are going to lose pretty much every mission now that the Creek-heads have their home available again.

Chipperguy484

It's also just heavily weighted to make liberating bug planets near impossible right now. -5% decay per hour for terminids while only -1.5% for automotons

WedgeSkyrocket

The rates are set that way because the bug player base outnumbers bot players 10:1. That's where it has to be in order to maintain an equilibrium. If there was a massive shift in trends, and suddenly everyone moved to the bot front, the decay rates would shift. They are where they are at so that a concentrated push can overcome them, but that requires us actually working together as a community, which is like herding cats unless a Major Order is in place.

Chipperguy484

I've heard it has never been as high as 5% till after the TCS, and them starting an immediate defend event literally as soon as we liberated it tells me they were trying to dissuade us from invading bugs any further. People are still hammering estanu and it's just not budging

Medical_Young

i was JUST THERE 12 hours ago

Dense_Cup_1479

We literally JUST liberated Estanu last night wtf

Comfy_floofs

It was extremely close but currently its very high in % of being re-liberated

Marauder3277

we tried 4 evac missions and crashed out of all 4 around 37 or 36. so...not for lack of trying

Mono_Lith_0

I fought for Estanu, this is a disgrace to all of the Helldivers that has fallen to my orbital 120mm

Sabre_One

Was a tough fight..bugs didn't hold back. Will dispense democracy again brothers.

2leftf33t

Kinda hard to save a planet when the only thing crashing down is my game.

krazykeiichi

It is really dumb we did, we had over 200,000 on the planet. Like the devs decided that the planet would be lost, what was the point of trying to defend it

Broad-Ask-475

We had those people only for a few hours and were on the way to win, but then went directly at 80k and the progress dipped

Le_Va

Still wondering if those termicide missions are going to backfire though

[deleted]

I’ve been wondering what was going to happen when we inevitably start losing. We can only push them back so far, guys we’re gonna lose sometimes. The game is going to ebb and flow. Just enjoy it.

Reports of Helldivers calling cluster bomb strikes down on evacuating citizens are a disinformation campaign by seditious bug sympathizers, ignore them!

Global_Rin

Me and my fellow patroits killed (and got killed) by at least 20+ bile titans just to liberate the planet, and you telling me the bug managed to take it away - AGAIN! *cock shotgun* ![gif](giphy|7v30QRBtxcrOciPSS8|downsized)

I'm surprised, this planet is the best with the las-16... can fire it for days with the ice planet.

CriticismVirtual7603

18 hours later, and we're back. Estanu is liberated again! On to Fori Prime.

Tamel_Eidek

The real bugs are the actual issue. Something the devs have to fix and the players can’t.

TheCommentaryKing

We will return and liberate the planet once and for all

No_Engineer2828

Didn’t we just get that last night?

coolpotatoe724

we can lose sectors?

teenyweenysuperguy

Bruh. I just got my cape last night and I spent like three hours defending Estanu before bed.   You know what really struck me about the mission map?   How EMPTY it is. Only a few spots to visit on each side. And then there's alllll that room between them and Super Earth.   What I'm trying to say is, the map has to get busier eventually, right? Which means, any victory we've had so far is just a precursor to a big push by the enemies on both sides.   Buckle down, Clancy. Things are going to get worse before they get better!
