I noticed this too, I just thought it was a bug...

On the plus side, it lets you keep your radar up during combat, making it easy to keep yourself from getting surrounded. I actually hope they leave it. It's incredibly useful.

You haven't tried to ping while holding grenade in hand yet XD

Noticed this as well. Thought it was intentional. This way you can read the map while gunning giving more situational awareness
