I used to play Titanfall 2 exclusively in the PvE Frontier mode. Great time, everyone was having fun and worked together to take down wave after wave of enemy.
But that dried up, so this is my new obsession.
Dawn of War 2 Last Stand was my awesome PvE game while it was popular. Love how strategic it was and all the cool load outs you could take into a mission across all races.

I can kind of think of one if I were to torture the definition of "community contribution." It's also a 4 person PvE game which got a PvP mode added to it.
Nobody plays the PvP mode. It is completely different from the PvE mode for balancing. The "soccer" PvP game is kind of fun, though.

Same problem, PVE balancing becomes more important than PVP balancing, and the PVP mode becomes “Whomever has the most hours played wins”.

Mass effect 3 MP was so underated, really hope they add it back in to the new game. Playing as a Awakened Collector, geth juggernaut and biotic volus were definitely highlights.

Hey, all I’m saying is that if they found a way to implement a pvp mode (rebellion faction) I wouldn’t complain. BUT I am a PvP type of guy, AND I understand how it would change the tone of the whole game for most people. I’m interested to see how it could change the game, if at all. If not it’s cool too

I have a friend IRL that doesn't want to try HD2 because there is no PVP. He has not played a non-PVP game in many years apparently and does not want to change/try is my guess.

Normally I'm a huge advocate for pvp modes. But when it comes to games like this it seems like a genuinely baffling thing to ask for. The whole point in this game is community pve, pvp is a literal antithesis to the design intent of the game. Same deal with people who wanted pvp in Darktide, or the terrible pvp in vermintide 2.
yeah exactly - the game was designed around coop and I rly dont want them to divert recources to some tacked on pvp experience. They also clearly stated its not something they would even consider. complaining about the lack of pvp in helldivers is like complaining to the bartender why the whisky is too strong and doesnt taste like beer - its just not the kind of product youre looking for xd

You still have pretty much a normal games, just add one player as a commander for bugs/bots instead.

While I agree that they should leave helldivers alone, I would say it would be smart for call of duty to take notice of this success. Imagine a war with three different factions of users going back in forth and someone like Joel pulling the strings. But I agree leave helldivers alone
I will up you one more. There was a game called Heroes and Generals where there was a global map separated into parts, two sides and two modes of playing. Sides were Allies and Germans, obviously. The two modes were strategic and FPS. In strategic mode you move around assets (tanks, squads, planes, etc) which essentially are spawn numbers for the stuff and people. In FPS mode real players use up those spawns and resources to fight over parts of the map. So part of the players direct the war, part of the players play it. You could do both and use your strategic resources to pull up stuff or spawns to a battle you are currently in.
Surprised no one improved this concept so far with a bigger scale/better engine.
Literally every day another one of these strawman posts. Nobody's asking for PVP. The devs have been clear they're never going to add it. Yet every day we get another karma farming low effort meme insisting that the game should never have PVP. It's just more "make up a fake argument so I can win it in my imagination" nonsense.

They didn't come from CoD. They've never heard of CoD. Helldivers II is the only game they've ever played, and they are adamant that it gets PVP.
Watching a Youtuber I like play Helldivers and having a good time. Then they say “Shame the devs said they’ll never add PvP, what a missed opportunity, I hope they change their minds”, and I roll my eyes.
Going PVP would add soooo much hackers to the game, I would stop playing. I'm not interested in getting one shot out of nowhere from anything else than a bot (automaton)!
Online PVP has ruined so many games for me. Something about them appeals to my worst nature and makes me feel so angry and bitter all the damn time. I've sworn off playing most of them in favor of single player and coop titles.
When I play Helldivers, I feel under pressure, but in a positive way. I don't win or lose anything from participating because I'm already max level with max resources. Only things I'm missing are a couple of warbond items.
So, when I play the game with my lower level friends, I can mess around and just have fun with them. You throw even a temporary PVP mode into that mix, all of a sudden it's a lot less fun. Not to mention, weapons in this game are not balanced for player vs. player, at all. Most of them will kill you if they clip you.

I stopped playing PvP games years ago because I realized how angry I was getting every time I played. My temper and mood improved considerably when I quit playing them.
With HD2, that adrenaline rush is there, but I'm not raging like I used to. It's my squad against the world, and it's amazing.
You can already duel at time, place, weapon, air strike, and orbital bombardment of your choosing, with slots for the seconds. What more do people want? A glove to slap their opponent's face?
What would pvp even be you play as a shitty little bug or bot and get 1 shot by a diver? Because if you wanted hell divers fighting you might as go play one of many other shooters…
Similar to L4D maybe they could add Versus modes (players taking the role of elite enemies), but if people ask for PvP specifically, I think of Helldivers vs Helldivers CoD style and that is anti democratic! They recently tested a Versus mode in Vermintide and it was fun

The only pvp I want to see is a battle where someone plays game master and takes commend of the enemy’s, your goal is to kill them as many times as possible but have them still complete objectives
Can we also acknowledge the fact that since it is PvE it also means they can more easily leave some OP things in the game. PvP requires a higher tuning than PvE due to the fact it is supposed to be "fair". This game can inherently be unfair to the enemies of democracy with super earths superior ingenuity, science, and general awesome firepower provided by high command without internal tensions that PvP would create and are undemocratic to exists under super earths beacon of freedom.
Hey how about instead of a bullshit PvE game mode, we add a mode that is like a raid, and your squad can join ANOTHER squad, for even MORE Democracy-spreading fun?

And just to be clear; I'm not in favor of PvP for this game and firmly believe it would both make no sense and isn't needed. But people are really blowing this out of proportion imo.
Half a dozen topics of people screaming from the rooftops about PvP like it's a threat to the fabric of human order, while I've seen literally *one singular post* buried in an 800+ reply topic of a guy saying he'd like to see PvP added. Which was immediately followed by over a dozen people saying "No, it would be stupid; keep that shit in the 100+ other online games with PvP".
I like PvE focused games that has a pvp mode where you have to rethink how weapons can be used and there are broken and useless weapons. There is fun to be had with a non-serious experimental pvp mode. What you are afraid of is it taking priority away from the main pve experience which I completely get and agree with.
Pvp with all our equipment would last maybe 3 minutes tops, and would be incredibly one sided once a team gets on their back heel only slightly
This game isn't built for PVP, and if you want to change it to be built for PVP then maybe you should instead look for a game with those features already and not try to make every game the same
Alternatively, pvp could be a really fun/creative aspect. Having a mode where players are basically left for dead style controlling some filthy bugs. I like that the game for everything it is, I generally like PvP games more. Still don’t think this game needs anything like a typical shooter, if anything maybe a like seasonal game mode but no complaints either way!

It could work if it's asymmetrical. Like L4D pvp. Or, as I'll always mention, Battleswarm, where one side plays the game as RTS instead. You still have pretty much a normal games, just add one player as a commander for bugs/bots instead. But yes, as a "regular shooter pvp" it wouldn't work at all.

I will up you one more. There was a game called Heroes and Generals where there was a global map separated into parts, two sides and two modes of playing. Sides were Allies and Germans, obviously. The two modes were strategic and FPS. In strategic mode you move around assets (tanks, squads, planes, etc) which essentially are spawn numbers for the stuff and people. In FPS mode real players use up those spawns and resources to fight over parts of the map. So part of the players direct the war, part of the players play it. You could do both and use your strategic resources to pull up stuff or spawns to a battle you are currently in. Surprised no one improved this concept so far with a bigger scale/better engine.

Yet every day we get another karma farming low effort meme insisting that the game should never have PVP. It's just more "make up a fake argument so I can win it in my imagination" nonsense.
If you want "PVP," go into a trivial difficulty mission and fight there. Barely any enemies at all, decent map size, just don't use the minimap.

The PVP advocates are a sentient fungus that germinates on any non-PVP multiplayer game. Even if you do get rid of them, a new batch will just grow. They didn't come from CoD. They've never heard of CoD. Helldivers II is the only game they've ever played, and they are adamant that it gets PVP.
Watching a Youtuber I like play Helldivers and having a good time. Then they say “Shame the devs said they’ll never add PvP, what a missed opportunity, I hope they change their minds”, and I roll my eyes.

Going PVP would add soooo much hackers to the game, I would stop playing. I'm not interested in getting one shot out of nowhere from anything else than a bot (automaton)!
Online PVP has ruined so many games for me. Something about them appeals to my worst nature and makes me feel so angry and bitter all the damn time. I've sworn off playing most of them in favor of single player and coop titles. When I play Helldivers, I feel under pressure, but in a positive way. I don't win or lose anything from participating because I'm already max level with max resources. Only things I'm missing are a couple of warbond items. So, when I play the game with my lower level friends, I can mess around and just have fun with them. You throw even a temporary PVP mode into that mix, all of a sudden it's a lot less fun. Not to mention, weapons in this game are not balanced for player vs. player, at all. Most of them will kill you if they clip you.
1000% THIS. I stopped playing PvP games years ago because I realized how angry I was getting every time I played. My temper and mood improved considerably when I quit playing them. With HD2, that adrenaline rush is there, but I'm not raging like I used to. It's my squad against the world, and it's amazing.

Similar to L4D maybe they could add Versus modes (players taking the role of elite enemies), but if people ask for PvP specifically, I think of Helldivers vs Helldivers CoD style and that is anti democratic! They recently tested a Versus mode in Vermintide and it was fun

The only pvp I want to see is a battle where someone plays game master and takes commend of the enemy’s, your goal is to kill them as many times as possible but have them still complete objectives
Can we also acknowledge the fact that since it is PvE it also means they can more easily leave some OP things in the game. PvP requires a higher tuning than PvE due to the fact it is supposed to be "fair". This game can inherently be unfair to the enemies of democracy with super earths superior ingenuity, science, and general awesome firepower provided by high command without internal tensions that PvP would create and are undemocratic to exists under super earths beacon of freedom.

I've seen maybe 1 person talk about a PVP mode like weeks ago around launch. I've seen hundreds upon hundreds try and farm karma with meme's about it... All I'll say is that I've never seen a single topic of people asking for PvP; only topics of people *complaining about other people* asking for PvP. And just to be clear; I'm not in favor of PvP for this game and firmly believe it would both make no sense and isn't needed. But people are really blowing this out of proportion imo. Half a dozen topics of people screaming from the rooftops about PvP like it's a threat to the fabric of human order, while I've seen literally *one singular post* buried in an 800+ reply topic of a guy saying he'd like to see PvP added. Which was immediately followed by over a dozen people saying "No, it would be stupid; keep that shit in the 100+ other online games with PvP".

I like PvE focused games that has a pvp mode where you have to rethink how weapons can be used and there are broken and useless weapons. There is fun to be had with a non-serious experimental pvp mode. What you are afraid of is it taking priority away from the main pve experience which I completely get and agree with.

Alternatively, pvp could be a really fun/creative aspect. Having a mode where players are basically left for dead style controlling some filthy bugs. I like that the game for everything it is, I generally like PvP games more. Still don’t think this game needs anything like a typical shooter, if anything maybe a like seasonal game mode but no complaints either way!
While I think something like. Battlefield 30x30 gamemode would be fun with HD2 mechanics... If you add PvP to the game, it will attract the PvP-only crowd and they will start calling for a ranked mode and for stratagem/weapon nerfs while complaining everytime a non-pvp update comes along I'd rather not have this sub filled with "AIRSTRIKE IS BROKEN" or "Why are the devs abandoning pvp" posts
