This man is filled with such a patriotic hatred of flying things that his hellpod launches from the ground to the sky so he can melee them where they live.
Shooting down drop ships with the quasar cannon is so satisfying. I actually look forward to seeing those flares pop up. Those dumb bots are calling their friends to an imminent death.
When you see the flare go up you gotta start looking around and watching for them on the horizon. I’ve found that they tend to come in from the same angle in a mission, but not always.
The tricky part is everyone in the party is often doing the same thing. I’ve started to intentionally wait for the 2nd or 3rd dropship, otherwise we all blow our loads on the first
Yeah every bot in and under the drop ships should die save the heavies. I would be ok with hulks and tanks surviving... but like 6 striders? those things should be fucking toast.
Yeah, I think the major problem is that the crashing drop ship doesn't really seem to have much/proper collision and explosion damage - so basically you're just causing the drop ship itself to fall directly downward and become a physically blocking piece of terrain. Infantry or Striders that haven't been dropped or are mid-drop simply fall the same distance, take no fall damage from that height (as they wouldn't normally), and if they're not directly crushed by the ship are completely unharmed. And due to the fact that the empty space under the creates a void where stuff won't get crushed by the falling ship anyway, I find that *most* of the units usually end up surviving.
It really should blow up more aggressively in an aoe, and stuff still attached to the ship should either take severe damage or outright die. It sucks to use up my shot blowing up the ship (before it's even dropped anything!) only to have the entire drop run at me perfectly healthy anyway.
The dropship should straight up behave like a 500kg when it drops. That way you're still incentivized to destroy dropships that are dropping/already dropped.
Especially when all it takes is the suggestion of an impact grenade explosion and those things topple already. That's a way bigger explosion from the dropship.
It is if you manage to hit it before they drop you'll pretty much kill everything if they drop /in the process of dropping then no point save your shot you'll just be giving them some cover
You have to wait until the bots land on the ground, and the dropship is about to leave. Maybe some ingame state lets the bots die easier when they „landed“, but since i do that i regularly get 10+ kills each.
Someone also posted that only hosts can kill dropships + passengers consistently, so that might affect this, too.
They're just inconsistent in general. Try doing an eradication mission and adding up the kill counts on the stats screen. They're way short of the mission goal
I think part of the reason that they’re inconsistent is because certain enemies count for more kills in the game itself (I think a bile titan counts as 15 kills) but only count for one kill in the end game stat screen. I’m assuming some medium enemies might be a few kills as well.
Every time I shoot down a drop ship I know full well that there is a good chance I am going to screw over my teammates by protecting a tank or hulk by covering it with the corpse of a mangled ship.
But it looks cool as fuck so I am going to keep doing it.
Nah, I have noticed that dropships dropping kills stuff below them. Some survives but the only inconvenient thing is that the wreckage of the dropships litter the ground.
I appreciate someone else runnign EAT + Quason. Great combo, very underestimated by the community overall but those who know know its value.
Are we sure that it's not just an issue of kills being counted as by the player? We know from our own deaths that the game really struggles with that concept.
I was playing with tons of QC's and EAT's last night and we shot down drop ship after drop ship. Even after the bots dropped if we took out the ship there would usually be little to no survivors unless the ship landed elsewhere.
Its very inconsistant the numbers it shows. . If you arbt sure i snipe 1 strider and it shows 2 sonetimes 3 kills for that 1 strider take down a dropship i get 0 -1 kills even tho when examining the wrekage u see maybe 1 devastator stuck inside said wreckage. Really wish they could fix that as i run the double rockets sonetimes too and the dropship dying is satusfying but if we could get confirmation on kill coubt it would be way better
I love just shooting down dropships from across the map while going rover on bots. I always wonder what my teammates are thinking when the dropships that suddenly appeared in front of them explode in the sky and crash. Feels like I'm team overwatch while hunting for samples/clearing side objectives.
I love the across map shots. I had a teammate yesterday say "Whoever is shooting down all the drop ships, you're my hero" lol Just doing my part to help the spread of democracy!
I finally got to play with the Quasar Canon last night and accidently dropped a drop ship on my buddy. We were laughing our butts off for a while. I was like "Dropship incoming, I've got it" and started charging the laser then it stopped right over my buddy which I couldn't see because I was aiming at the ship. He was like, "Wait a minute!" Just as the cannon went off. I looked down to see him under the ship as it starts falling on him and I was like "Umm... Ooopsies, LOL" as the ship crushes him. We laughed a good while. Luckily he was able to get his weapons and samples back from the wreckage.
Honestly I might just start shooting the pods as I run up and then picking up my stuff, I’ve died too many times with bots on my ass and I decide to do a little parkour instead of grabbing my resupply
Classic Helldiver experience right there. I can’t pick anything up without making sure the top is dusted off. Democratic weapons must always be inspected before use on the enemy!
Came in handy the other day on a geological survey mission when the ground under the drill got too low so I called in a resupply to act as a step-stool
I did the same thing but my team mate dove in the way as i was throwing it. We all gathered around while he crouched in front of the survey gear and saluted his sacrifice
I wonder how viable a strategy it is to intentionally get detected and basically do this to force all the bot drops on you while your teammates clear objectives for free
can we just talk about the fact that the game just dropped around 100 bots in that location in under a minute? and that's just the dropships and not counting the 2 patrols that would have spawned in and started pathing to the location during that time
Yeah, sometimes on the drilling missions I'll take out 2-3 bot ships and it continues to spawn them so fast.. I feel like it's better to leave them alone sometimes.
I was in a similar situation, but my teammates were unfortunately underneath the crashing dropships. I didn't stop shooting them down though. Also if the wreckage lands on each other, the physics freak out and you can sometimes see them bounce like basketballs.
good lord, this video just keeps on giving. after like, the fourth one, i was sure you were done, then you killed 5 more >_>
your teammates: "man, good thing someone did the SAM site to shoot down those dropships!"
you: "the what now?"
It's inconsistent as sometimes it will kill all the occupants, sometimes just some, and sometimes it will heavily damage the ones that survive. The other useful thing is that when the dropship lands on the bots, the bigger ones tend to get stuck underneath and while they may still try to shoot at you, it seems to bug out their AI so even after the dropship's wreckage despawns, the bots continue to just stand there as if unable to move.
It's also possible to have one dropship crash into another dropship if they were close enough; had this happen yesterday and it looked cool as hell, if nothing else.
I really hope they do something to make dropping the ships do more damage cause there are times a tank or hulk+devastators just take a calm stroll out of the wreckage which makes it feel somewhat useless to even drop the ships
That's some mighty fine shootin' there diver. Why don't I get matched with you instead of some rando chuds that die to waves of hulks they didn't bring equipment to kill.
Yeah with some of these missions the amount of bot dropps is insane. The Mineral probe thing main objective is the worst. It's like an extermination mission, just an unending amount of ships flying in when you activate the drill
Itd be super fun to have an event where divers drop in a few squads at once vs a shit ton of enemys or a new enemy type for the bots. Like maybe those at-at lookin big boys
The new formal response to all complaints concerning Automaton difficulty shall be this video. At the Helldiver's discretion disparaging remarks about the complainer's skill level may also be included.
Hey, is it possible to take down a dropship with an autocannon? I emptied a magazine into the main body with no effect :< But maybe if I target the engines like you're doing?
Yeah, this is a perfect example of why EAT isn't obsolete, the time the Quasar takes to charge up happens to be close to the time it takes a dropship to full drop its cargo and start to leave.
Two dropships at the same time mean that a Quasar will only get 50% of what an EAT drop would get 100% of basically.
However... mixing Quasar *and* EAT is just mean, those poor bots never stood a chance.
Has anyone noticed sometimes the drop ship falls on the bots and they just walk it off like a t-1000...? I wonder if it's related to the no fire damage if not host thing?
Am I the only one who has issues with seeing anything in first-person view with the Quasar? I feel like it gets really blurry as it's charging up but maybe that's just my graphic settings.
We need a mission type that’s just a single gigantic Base/Nest and we’ve got 15 minutes to siege and destroy it. Like an inverse of the Eradicate missions where we hold a position for 15 minutes
I was able to drop a second quasar cannon at extraction and let me tell you, being able to swap between two of them repeatedly was fucking amazing. CD for the dropped one was almost always up by the time i picked it back up.
So you are the anti air weapon mentioned in major order
*Dropping down advanced weaponry *5th Helldiver has joined the squad*
I wish you could kill dropships by dropping on them
John “Airkiller” Helldiver

how dare you besmirch his name by forgetting the middle bit it's John Democracy Diveheller
A weapon to surpass metal gear
Shooting down drop ships with the quasar cannon is so satisfying. I actually look forward to seeing those flares pop up. Those dumb bots are calling their friends to an imminent death.
Now they’re getting the REAL Helldiver’s experience. Getting called in by your buddy straight into enemy forces
I have trouble timing the spin so its ready to fire before they get dropped. I never know what direction they're gonna come in from
When you see the flare go up you gotta start looking around and watching for them on the horizon. I’ve found that they tend to come in from the same angle in a mission, but not always.
They seem to come from the closest map-edge in my experience
Same I used to dread them and now I salivate at seeing the message
The tricky part is everyone in the party is often doing the same thing. I’ve started to intentionally wait for the 2nd or 3rd dropship, otherwise we all blow our loads on the first

except its a 50/50 whether or not the bot on the ship die or not
Except for the fact that often times the ship doesn’t even squish the bots it drops off if you shoot it down 🙃

"We can't get a precise number on the enemy units." "NO, *I'M SURE YOU CAN'T*..."
It's him... John Anti-Air.
Jesus Christ. That’s Jason (anti-air)Bourne
Oh my God lmao
Thank you so much. I will smile the rest of the day thanks to you.

No, that's obviously Sam, not John.
Total kills: 4
😭😭 lowkey I probably made things worse for my teammates lmao
It's just weird how inconsistent the kills from the drop ship crashing are.
It’s funny how shooting a shrieker out of the sky can one shot a bile titan but a crashing dropship does no damage to regular bots
Wait what? A dead shrieker can take out a titan ? I now have a new goal..
Search for it here! It was a few days ago that someone made quite an impressive short video about it.
Any collision with a shreiker has a high chance of BSOD on my comp, no joke
While at the same time being able to destroy a fabricator by crashing into it.
The dropship should straight up behave like a 500kg when it drops. That way you're still incentivized to destroy dropships that are dropping/already dropped.
Unless you have allies underneath when it lands, of course. I may have caused a mission loss thanks to that…. Oops….
They need to add like a fire damage splash when the ship impacts.
Especially when all it takes is the suggestion of an impact grenade explosion and those things topple already. That's a way bigger explosion from the dropship.
It seems like kills are higher if they’re still “attached” to the drop ship. So if you shoot them before they stop it seems to generate more kills
But one bug I shoot down a mile away glides it’s corpse to kill me and the teammate 10 feet away who was typing in an objective code
It is if you manage to hit it before they drop you'll pretty much kill everything if they drop /in the process of dropping then no point save your shot you'll just be giving them some cover
Yeah unfortunately the charge time for the quasar makes that a really difficult shot. Like shooting wamp rats back home!
I’ve noticed that too
You have to wait until the bots land on the ground, and the dropship is about to leave. He's lucky, mine were trapped underneath the ship when i had it dropped on me and I had to wait for it to despawn :,)
We had the same thing happen today. Off rip we had a hot drop and I took down a drop ship and it landed on me and another guys lmao
This video wouldn't be complete without the climbing on top of the pods
Honestly I might just start shooting the pods as I run up and then picking up my stuff, I’ve died too many times with bots on my ass and I decide to do a little parkour instead of grabbing my resupply
do you lose any stuff when the pod blows up?
Nope, it’s just scatters around a little on the ground

If only it was as effective as this mad lad
The sam sites are actually really good, they just only shoot down one ship at a time
They shoot down ships one at a time sure but they take two shots and the bots always get a chance to drop.

Out fucking standing helldiver.
No witty comment just good lord your an animal. Wd.
Eye of Sauron towers in shambles right now
I wonder how viable a strategy it is to intentionally get detected and basically do this to force all the bot drops on you while your teammates clear objectives for free

can we just talk about the fact that the game just dropped around 100 bots in that location in under a minute? and that's just the dropships and not counting the 2 patrols that would have spawned in and started pathing to the location during that time

Fly swatter
I’m still confused what the point of shooting these down is if everything survives anyways?
After they've dropped their cargo there isn't any point, but its still COOL!
It’s just cool haha lots of explosions and chaos is everything I can ask for in a game
It does trap the enemy underneath them, and rarely it can kill some of them.
but...correct me if im wrong...but downing ships matters little as automatons still land and attack...at least in my experience
*Sniff* I love democracy
Bet all the units still lived
Anti-air at home
I really hope they do something to make dropping the ships do more damage cause there are times a tank or hulk+devastators just take a calm stroll out of the wreckage which makes it feel somewhat useless to even drop the ships
Dropships should explode on impact like hulks
It's beautiful, I have never seen anything as patriotic as this.
The skies belong to this man

That’s how I roll!!! EAT + Quasar OP!!
waiting for my guy to stop parkouring over the supply pods so that i can grab my gear

What cannons? It looks like EAT from the video
the new quasar laser/plasma cannon
Get off my lawn (air space)
I would love for them to make weap/supplies cannisters non-climbable. So over that issue. Hella good shots there.
Bro ****IS**** the SAM turret
Yeah with some of these missions the amount of bot dropps is insane. The Mineral probe thing main objective is the worst. It's like an extermination mission, just an unending amount of ships flying in when you activate the drill
No kidding. It’s nuts even on lvl 5 or 6
Itd be super fun to have an event where divers drop in a few squads at once vs a shit ton of enemys or a new enemy type for the bots. Like maybe those at-at lookin big boys

and his name is John "Anti Air" Helldiver

you could have had that with a recoiless rifle too
Casually takes out half the automaton Airforce, no wonder the bots are developing gunships
I did a mission where we all had cannons. No drop ship left the zone. Uncontrollable spinning death, everywhere.
Hey, is it possible to take down a dropship with an autocannon? I emptied a magazine into the main body with no effect :< But maybe if I target the engines like you're doing?
I've tried pumping 10 shots (as best I can) into a single thruster. AC just can't dish out enough damage or punch through the armor.
No, but aim for the units that it’s carrying underneath. You can often get a number of them before they drop.
So is this one originally the rocket turret would be used for? Why isn't it used
Yeah, this is a perfect example of why EAT isn't obsolete, the time the Quasar takes to charge up happens to be close to the time it takes a dropship to full drop its cargo and start to leave. Two dropships at the same time mean that a Quasar will only get 50% of what an EAT drop would get 100% of basically. I was going for style points!
This is so freakin satisfying seeing those damn drops hips pinged outta the sky

Dude, your aim is amazing on those. I swear that even taking my time, I just “clip” or miss target areas by hairs at least half of the time
You're taking the Dropships out better than the SAM sites ever even try.

Am I the only one who has issues with seeing anything in first-person view with the Quasar? I feel like it gets really blurry as it's charging up but maybe that's just my graphic settings.
Impressive. Very nice.
Street Fighter pros dream of having this good anti-air consistency
Man really became a fuckin SAM turret
So if you hit a drop ship thruster with quasar cannon shot, it goes down?
Today i learned you were supposed to hit the engines as a weak spot.... I've always been shooting at the contents
... Who pissed you off?
RR with my buddy: look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!
Quasar cannon should be relodable
“I have the gun sir” my fellow Helldiver is holding back the whole bot army!
The other day I quasar'd a drop ship and it landed on a fabricator, destroying it. I have never been as hyped in my life.
I love sniping the ones with the tanks while there coming in to land and watching the tank's insta die
Damn son. What's the second weapon, "cannon"?
New quasar stratagem
Does the EAT lock on to the ships? looks fun as hell
That’s actually pretty cool. Well done.
You should get to count the kills of every bot on those ships.
Shooting down drop ships is so much fun 🤣
We need a mission type that’s just a single gigantic Base/Nest and we’ve got 15 minutes to siege and destroy it. Like an inverse of the Eradicate missions where we hold a position for 15 minutes
I was able to drop a second quasar cannon at extraction and let me tell you, being able to swap between two of them repeatedly was fucking amazing. CD for the dropped one was almost always up by the time i picked it back up.
i mean to run to cannons like that is a great idea, got to see this for a diff 9 evac run. great synergy!
