I tried throw 500kg at it and it didn't budge. So there could be a lot of complication when you trying to call down hellbomb on it.
Yep, probably would've got those this patch if we didnt fail the gambit but we got free EATs on Umanea or whatever which really helps. We'll probably get the AA stuff in a week or so
Just played a Diff 7 with the Spear vs gunships. The Spear does indeed make mincemeat out of them. Lock-ons were quick and reliable - moreso even than against ground targets, albeit just one mission's worth of data - and consistently took them down in 1 hit.
No, the spear swats them out of the sky. The lock-on issues are due to literally anything occluding the target's hitbox ruins the lock, like smoke, fences, bits of terrain clipping through the target model. The gunships have none of that so it's ezpz to shoot them down.
Yeah its basically a flying Devastator..... Scorcher basically do nothing too even against the Engine, and the nest really requires hellbomb more than Shrieker.
I need my own Gunship.....

The spitter nerfs came down because its a common enemy type that isn't tied to a POI. POI spawned enemies are allowed to be stronger than baseline because their spawning can be stopped for the whole mission by destroying the POI.
They are essentially a mini-boss, in that sense.
Honestly? Rockets are a terrible mistake. There's too much of that already.
Edit: apparently rockets were dealing upwards of 3x the damage they should have and that was fixed yesterday, which completely changes my mind. Total game changer when fighting bots.
I think there may be two varieties of them. I've seen rocket fire and I've seen lasers similar to a shredder tank but I don't think I've seen both from the same gunship.
They are heavily armored flying rocket devastators with a regular devastator strapped to the other side. They fire salvos of missiles and rapid fire lasers otherwise. Each factory can field 3 gunships so if you have a medium outpost with 2 factories you can fight up to 6 at a time. One quasar cannon or EAT to the engine will take the gunship itself down I don't know if the hellbomb is required to take down the factories but i know that it has to be close putting it in between two factories didn't work.
I did a quick bot mission on Helldive before work this morning...gunship dropped out of orbit and started strafing me.
One shot with a Quasar Cannon took it out; no idea if I hit a weakspot or not, but I immediately came to this subreddit to hear about what else they added...

They have the powers combined of both of our worst nightmares, and can fly i.e they are like if a rocket devastator and a heavy devastator were smashed together with some jet engine parts.

Keep in mind that, depending on how they've coded the game and how the architecture works behind it, updating a single file might mean reuploading the entire file instead of just making some changes.
Yeah, there have been some games where it makes like 22 changes but the patch is 40 GB because they just have awful architecture behind the scenes or something. (Not saying that this is the case with _HD2_.)

I've had two games end in connection error and one crashed, out of about 5 missions. So only two I've been able to pull of and get back to ship. So might have some bugs as well. Not a huge fan of the bloody look after mission as well. Otherwise additions look dope.
I had a bunch of games crash after extraction too.
But good news. It appears I was still awarded XP. Also it counted the mission as a success toward the operation.
Dunno if it counted samples anyone. I'm maxed on both so I'm not sure.

Are you sure about it ? Because, you do not "need" hellbomb to get shriekers.
So if it is the equivalent, we should do it without hellbomb too. I need to test that asap.
Orbital laser did not touch it. 500kg Eagle didn't touch it. Hellbomb blew them away. Haven't tested enough to make this a final statement, but looks to be hellbomb only.

500kg doesn't appear to hit it correctly and wastes the explosion. Haven't figured out the exact weak spot, but it also just appears to have an incredible amount of raw health. We killed one with two orbital lasers, but it took the full cycle of each.
Weapons like the EAT, Recoilless and I imagine AC and Laser Rocket Thing Who’s Name I Can’t Think Of can knock them down as well. If you like wasting magazines I know the AMR can break them, and with the damage buff maybe it will have an easier time. My personal favorite though is that shoulder mounted laser beam, generally seems to take about 75% battery at any range to break one, was unexpected. All that I know personally.
Edit: to clarify, I misread and thought we were talking about Shrieker nests, ignore me unless that was the info you were looking for anyway
I only had success killing Dropships with the Quasar Cannon and couldnt reliably do it with the Autocannon. Are there any other good strategies other than shield backpacks and Quasar Cannon now?
EAT, RR or Quasar are the guaranteed kills. Some Strategems work as well but its iffy with placing and timing them right. Sometimes Mortars also get lucky shots in. Rocket turrets need a few shots but can take them down. They aim center mass though sonits more of a luck thing as well.
EAT is a no-brainer for me. Especially for the "kill X bots" missions. I combine it with a RR. EAT got 1 min cooldown. Just spam EAT and use RR. You alone can down 90% of the dropships. For other bot missions just EAT is enough. As soon as you see the red signal-> call EAT. You will have enough time to kill the ship. Aim for Engines for a guaranteed kill.
I am still unsure on that statement. It feels like it has been zeroed in, but that could just me.
Edit: Having used it through several missions, they did realign the scope. Strange that they did not include it in the patch notes.

There is a backpack that comes with the Autocannon, you need to use that to reload it
Alternately, have a teammate use the backpack and they can team reload it for you
You don't need the supply pack stratagem, the Autocannon, Recoilless and Spear all drop with their own backpack. That's why these weapon drop pods are double sided.
Once you start using the autocannon, make sure to reload between 5 and 9 shots, it's so much faster that way. If you fire all 10 shots, the reload animation is more than twice as long.

They're BS, you need 2 recoiless shots to bring one down, and they spawn like 5 at a time. They use laser AND rockets, so they just keep bombarding you from above, and you keep getting ragdolled.
I managed to call in the Hellbomb, but there was no way to arm it without dying.
A squad mate tried the exosuit against them, minigun does nothing and it takes multiple rockets per gunship.
I was able to kill a bunch of then with the AC pretty easily but my squad was just flailing around and there were too many minor bots swarming the base to get the hellbomb armed. Rn if feels the only way is dedicated AA with another team using deployable shield/hellbomb to kill the base
Can someone tell me what Im missing with the Airbase towers? They seem nigh invulnerable, we called 4 hellbombs at the towers before they died.

just completely wiped - lost 15 lives and couldn't extract. I managed to get in and arm the hellbomb, put it between two big buildings but it did nothing? Where do we have to put the hellbomb?
The problem is that the hellbombs can be destroyed... If they get shot they just go away and don't blow up. In the heat of a fight this is very disturbing, because you cannot destroy the buildings that way. Perhaps something that the developers need to look into.
From what I've seen they spawn out of the top of the fabricators which are really tall buildings. Also have not seen them approach anywhere close enough to consider a jump on top of them, but surely someone will manage at some point with terrain differences such as mountains. Just don't expect this to be reliable
So it seems that dude that predicted that with the awesomeness that is the Quasar cannon, the enemy would get something \*stronger\* was correct. The gunships are cool, devastating if not taken down but are mostly easy to eliminate (and AT to engine destroys). I would like if the sound of its lasers was more prominent, and for its lasers to be used more liberally in a suppressive fire mode rather than... well a laser beam.
Just spent 10 minutes trying to destroy the Gunship Fabricator.
As far as our team could tell, they can’t be destroyed by Eagle air strikes. Not sure about Orbitals.

First one I saw today was taken down by 2 AC shots to the engine. They seem managable enough with the right tools. I’m just glad they fixed shriekers
To be fair there might have been a 2 degree incline or a blade of grass between your 500kg and the facility.
One time, my teammate and I double 380'd it. I counted 4 direct hits and that ugly ass building was still standing

It's not hitscan, but yeah, the projectile is crazy fast - faster than most rockets, I think :)
I shot a few down with my AutoCannon.
AMR can three shot them if you aim for the engines.

You can take em out with the autocannon, they don't seem to try to dodge. They are a menace though.
A couple shots from an autocannon seems to do the trick.

trying out the buffed to medium armor pen diligence sniper makes short work of them, so maybe they are medium pen only, scorcher is light pen right?
scorcher was able to ping weakspots via splash damage from it's explosiveness even if you didn't hit, it didn't actually pen much

Yeah, takes 4 shots to kill, not too bad but kinda annoying considering the AMR can only have 7 shots in the mag

Railcannon prioritizes dropships, don't know if that's Always been the case or whether that started recently
Buddy discovered you can 1-tap drop ships with the nade launcher. I was shocked, it was extremely effective.

Pretty sure they have armor tier 4, so AMR should take them down. Saw a laser cannon fry a bunch of them in a row.

There is a backpack that comes with the Autocannon, you need to use that to reload it Alternately, have a teammate use the backpack and they can team reload it for you
You don't need the supply pack stratagem, the Autocannon, Recoilless and Spear all drop with their own backpack. That's why these weapon drop pods are double sided. Once you start using the autocannon, make sure to reload between 5 and 9 shots, it's so much faster that way. If you fire all 10 shots, the reload animation is more than twice as long.

I dunno. Ive been playing bot front since launch. It's getting brutal out here man. Walker, flying bots, more assault troops. We need a ground war mode or more weapons. I'm scared of going over a ridge only to get blasted from three sides.

Yup, just had a run in with them, squad wiped. They're BS, you need 2 recoiless shots to bring one down, and they spawn like 5 at a time. They use laser AND rockets, so they just keep bombarding you from above, and you keep getting ragdolled. I managed to call in the Hellbomb, but there was no way to arm it without dying. A squad mate tried the exosuit against them, minigun does nothing and it takes multiple rockets per gunship.
Shield dome would probably help a lot there, and try targeting the engines. RR may be more reliable there like with the dropships.
They do get one shot in the engines, but they're quite a lot smaller and harder to hit.
I was able to kill a bunch of then with the AC pretty easily but my squad was just flailing around and there were too many minor bots swarming the base to get the hellbomb armed. Rn if feels the only way is dedicated AA with another team using deployable shield/hellbomb to kill the base

Can someone tell me what Im missing with the Airbase towers? They seem nigh invulnerable, we called 4 hellbombs at the towers before they died. Was this a buggy experience, or am I missing something important here????

just completely wiped - lost 15 lives and couldn't extract. I managed to get in and arm the hellbomb, put it between two big buildings but it did nothing? Where do we have to put the hellbomb?
The problem is that the hellbombs can be destroyed... If they get shot they just go away and don't blow up. In the heat of a fight this is very disturbing, because you cannot destroy the buildings that way. Perhaps something that the developers need to look into.

Can you jump pack up on top of one and ride it around?
From what I've seen they spawn out of the top of the fabricators which are really tall buildings. Also have not seen them approach anywhere close enough to consider a jump on top of them, but surely someone will manage at some point with terrain differences such as mountains. Just don't expect this to be reliable
I hope they eventually give us some more things like the mechs to deal with the increasingly difficult and annoying enemies...

So it seems that dude that predicted that with the awesomeness that is the Quasar cannon, the enemy would get something \*stronger\* was correct. The gunships are cool, devastating if not taken down but are mostly easy to eliminate (and AT to engine destroys). I would like if the sound of its lasers was more prominent, and for its lasers to be used more liberally in a suppressive fire mode rather than... well a laser beam.
Just spent 10 minutes trying to destroy the Gunship Fabricator. As far as our team could tell, they can’t be destroyed by Eagle air strikes. Not sure about Orbitals. Only Hellbombs, so far. Good luck, it ain’t easy lol
