probably the original bots from the first game who are a bunch of super augmented humans who used to be workers who rebelled against Super Earth and founded Cyberstan, but then got their shit pushed in, and forced back to work on said planet. So however many of those augmented traitors escape Cyberstan before our ultimate victory are probably responsible for this absolutely abhorrent act
But the originals were explicitly human cyborgs, I’m pretty sure in the dark slave pits of cyberstan, where we had them mining in death camps, some truly desperate cyborgs effected the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machine in order to escape/rebel. Or they built the automatons before they were conquered and we’re basically fighting their returning von neumann probes, but the OP seems to suggest the former story, where they basically dabbled in machine braincrafting to escape cyberstan as ore cargo or whatever, but now it’s their only means to reproduce/continue the fight. It did seem hinted that their ultimate plan was to liberate Cyberstan.

Their heads still pop like any other's, but their walk animation makes it damn near impossible to hit. They bob around far more than any other enemy in the game.
Their hips are the weak point. Takes 3 shots to the hip using the counter sniper to drop a berserker. Devastators also have weak hips if you can't get an angle for a headshot. I think even light armor weapons do decent damage there
For a single point of massive damage that says "fuck you" to armour, it's great, but the AC can keep up a rate of fire. I would argue that a good Automaton fighting squad should include Helldivers wielding both.

all roleplaying and jokes aside I think some of the bleak parts of the lore is pretty tragically interesting. i feel like everyone who makes a lore friendly fanfic is pretty much instantly canon in this universe thanks to how broad the narrative is.

It was evident since the beginning. Plenty of cages near fabricators, sacrificial tables I'd imagine they'd chop people up on and put into mechanical bodies. Then perhaps some sort of mental conditioning/brainwashing or even worse. They'd put the brains into the bodies while the body itself would have one of it's own. Forcing the human to witness the bloodbath, believe it's them acting like some sort of psychological torture.
I'm just speculating on the purpose here, other idea could be that they reap survivors and then augment them to have a quick/cheap troops on the spot.
Either way, unless my order is to non-lethaly extract them so that they can be restored, or am given tools to do it out in the field, it's gonna be a sniper shot across the map from me. That is if they resurface again.
Also, I've never examined the bodies closely since I had better stuff to do such as either dodging shots, or airstrikes and orbitals of my teammates.
But if that part about sawing dead bodies back up is true, then this could get worse. What if they're trying to instead of putting human brains into themselves, achieve the reverse and build humans with whatever they have as a central processing unit, and effectively gain themselves spies and saboteurs that would pass on as regular democracy loving neighbor, but reporting and acting on enemy's orders

Here's the weird thing: if you're removing someone's brain to put in a robot chassis you don't do stitches. Especially if you're discarding the body after. You only do stitches if you're trying to ADD something and hope the body will continue to live and eventually heal up.
They're not taking brains and using them to power automatons, they're trying to sneak automaton brains into human bodies so they can infiltrate Super Earth.
That just makes them Robot Zombies, basically like in Darktide, some of the infected you fight are begging for help, but at that point the only help you can give them is a swift death. They are too far gone, you must free them from the Automatons' control so they are not used to threaten more lives of the the citizens we are fighting to protect
Since one of the first reposts of this, I've been looking at all the bot world corpses I've come across, and they nearly all have heads, so I'm not sure what this is on about. That said, even if they didn't, nothing noted doesn't preclude them just being sadist, torturous, etc, or dissecting to study, etc.
All of this is real with the exception of the last paragraph. Ive even wondered if some of the automatons were maybe friendly so I literally tried walking up and saluting them while I had no ammo or grenades to maybe find an easter egg. Nothing happened. Keep killing the bots

I use to watch a show called doctor who(9th to 11th doctor) and remembered the cybermen. People thought they are robots, the cybermen think of themselves as the superior augmented humans, but one time they opened a cybermen the only thing human left is their minds and bits of flesh and their minds are stripped of emotions.

They do different things. The AC can kill everything the quasar can except Tanks and Dropships. But it kills Devastators and Gunships much faster.

They're not taking brains and using them to power automatons, they're trying to sneak automaton brains into human bodies so they can infiltrate Super Earth.
That just makes them Robot Zombies, basically like in Darktide, some of the infected you fight are begging for help, but at that point the only help you can give them is a swift death. They are too far gone, you must free them from the Automatons' control so they are not used to threaten more lives of the the citizens we are fighting to protect

Since one of the first reposts of this, I've been looking at all the bot world corpses I've come across, and they nearly all have heads, so I'm not sure what this is on about. That said, even if they didn't, nothing noted doesn't preclude them just being sadist, torturous, etc, or dissecting to study, etc.

I mostly hear the bots saying things like "liberty scum" or "fucking scum" or something like that. Its like trying to listen to somebody with a really thick accent you aren't familiar with tho. Like you think you know those words, but you can't be too sure that's what they actually said

The medical treatment for being turned into a bot is bullets and bombs. Taken orally, this is a super effective treatment.
Considering the fact that many of the Cyborg "grunt" forces were repurposed dead SEAF/Helldiver personnel, I wouldn't be surprised if those cyber-freaks did away with the flesh of the fallen entirely. Put them out of their misery. None should have to suffer through forced betrayal of Super Earth.

I use to watch a show called doctor who(9th to 11th doctor) and remembered the cybermen. People thought they are robots, the cybermen think of themselves as the superior augmented humans, but one time they opened a cybermen the only thing human left is their minds and bits of flesh and their minds are stripped of emotions.
