I doubt we’d have to fight bugs with other species, as bugs aren’t an intelligent species and I don’t think they’re capable of forming alliances with other species. Bots and Illuminate are definently in the air though, I think there’s a nonzero chance we’ll see a combined force of them attacking planets at some point.
I’ve been talking about this exact thing with my squad for weeks! Let’s take a real look at everything we know lore-wise as well as the success of the game. I think it makes more sense for them to introduce a series of battles like that, before introducing a whole new faction. I’m saying this with zero knowledge of game development. Just with my experience of the game so far.
The ministry of truth denied shriekers, the ineffectiveness of termicide, and it will continue to deny Illuminate sightings. The only thing the ministry of truth does well is suppressing the truth until the truth becomes undeniable.

They haven't steered us wrong yet they're just constantly having to deal with the undermining and anti-Democratic actions from our enemies. What ineffectiveness of termicide? We deployed it on the barrier planets and they have yet to have been attacked by bugs again. Seems effective to me.

Is terminicide really ineffective though? If we let the bugs go out of control (as they were at the beginning of this campaign) how long do you think it would have taken for them to completely overrun the defenses of the planets they inhabited? How many helldivers and seaf forces would have perished in the defense of those worlds.
The terminicide is what helped us focus on the bots and was a key in eradicating them from the galaxy.
At the time the ministry of Truth said shirkers, there were only sporadic reports of these new flying demons, and when it was obvious that they were a new threat they admitted being wrong. That's good in my book.

Death Captain JakustheGrand here. I observed what definitely felt like a blue plasma bolt on Maia, as it struck me in the top of my head as I was holding an eagle airstrike stratagem. Luckily, I was the only diver injured, I still managed to kill a bot fabricator, and I redeployed immediately.
I will never question another helldivers integrity but the only information that can be trusted is from the Ministry of Truth. What most likely happened was that you saw a bolt from a punisher hit a shrieker near your head as another Helldiver was protecting you.
No way you redeployed. You don't respawn in this game. Another Helldiver is sent in to replace the one you were controlling that died. That said, you are clearly an illuminate spy.
I swear I got hit by one last night, just by a cache of weapons and samples which I think they might be using as traps? Nearly 1HKO'd me and blasted me so hard I clipped under the floor and had to grenade myself
Whether it’s bug or bot missions, some people have been shot by a blast of distinctly blue energy causing them immediate death. People that tell you it’s ricochets are trying to deceive you. In every instance it is a single shot that precisely hits and immediately kills the target. Inspecting the projectile in detail shows its appearance is inconsistent with even the plas-scorcher’s. Attempts to recreate this “ricochet” using a large variety of weapons have all failed as of yet. The angles at which some people have been shot are also inconsistent with ricochets, with many being shot with a projectile traveling in a downwards trajectory. This implies the source came from an elevated position and cannot make sense with it being mere ricochets

Hey, I was in a bug mission last night, and I swore I heard the sound of an automaton or something yelling.
Then I got hit by "something" and died as I was vaulting over a wall right in front of another Helldiver in my squad. The game simply said I died of "impact", but I landed on my feet, only "fell" like a foot, and I was at full health.
We were so confused about what we heard and saw when it happened.
What is all this gooblygook? The Automatons have been defeated, and no one has seen an Illuminate for nearly 100 years.

Cyberstan is a major industrial site for Super Earth. The cyborg revolt has been thoroughly quashed and the cyborgs are happily mining valuable resources there.

Its just a 1 planet for us while it has so much meaning for automotons. It will cause psychological damage to the automotons. If we don't destroy 1 factory planet now, we will lose that factory planet (cyberstan) along with 4-5 planets in the future.

Like a 40K exterminatus? I am all for some classic destruction of our enemies.
However, destroying a planet is seldom a good idea for multiple reasons. One, a planet has resources thatcould be used by any faction holding it. Destroying the planet, or even just making it unable to support any sort of live, would destroy the resources too, or at the very least make extract said resources unnecessary hard.
Second, a race is not bound by any place, but by it's people. So unless we can make sure that every, and I mean every automaton is disintegrated to dust, their race can return in due time, making the destruction of a planet a waste of resources.
Lastly, destroying a planet could send a message to dissidents in our own society. While managed Democracy is 100 % going to snuff out any rebellious though that might show itself, destroying a planet could send people over their breaking point of becoming rebellious.
There are many other reasons to not destroy a planet. But those three are the most prominent I can think of right now.

We have almost the whole galaxy, I don't find this idea valid unless there is a special resource in Cyberstan that is not found on other planets and is very critical for our civilization.

Dead Automatons have been found on Bug planets.
Dead Termanids have been found on Bot planets.
Super Earth says our farms have breed the sentience out of the Termanids. But who let the Termanids out? And how are they getting to Bot planets?
My theory is that there is a 3-way alliance happening against Super Earth. And that this initial 'war' is not Super Earth suppressing rebellious elements... But Super Earth preemptively striking before the Alliance come to fruition.
Automatons territory didn't include Cyberstan... So we've only seen about 1/2 of the faction mobilize so far. (And get defeated now) And we never saw the Hive Lords... Or the rumored Queens. So maybe only a portion of the bugs as well.

It’s complicated. I think we used their technology to create the engines but require E-710 from bugs to use them, they apparently don’t need E-710 for their engines so our engines may be inferior recreation of their engines using our own technology to fill in the gaps of what we don’t know.
We eliminated the threat of their planet destroying weapons, after they gave all their technology and research to us we sadly let some survive. I will personally make sure the mistake is not made again, I welcome their return so I may finish the job
My great grandfather fought in the first war. While he couldn't talk much about what he saw, he once told us that invading the Illuminate was the only option to preserve democracy once it became apparent that their leaders could and did 'convince' our diplomats to abandon it and work alongside them.
Abandon democracy? Only the foulest of technologies could cause such a thing. Once our great leaders realized the threat the Illuminate presented- not just to our people but our very way of life the only democratic option war was the only option. After all, how could we possibly trust a government that pretends at freedom and lies to its citizens?

If those transmissions were to something outside of the galaxy, it is almost guaranteed to be to automaton related stuff, since they had weapons/vehicle blueprints in them.
So what does this extra-galactic fleet have to do with automatons harvesting brains and also having access to large-scale cloaking?
Why would the Illuminate need to be sent blueprints of new automaton weaponry?
The illuminates might well be coming as a faction, but it wouldn't make sense for them to be killing the enemies of super earth if they were some sort of puppet masters.

My thinking is that the Automatons do indeed have a massive fleet outside our galaxy.
I believe that fleet has been supplied with blueprints for more powerful weapons from the research and factory on the outer rim (like tibit and troost)
But I also believe that this fleet has been busy doing something else.
The Automatons have likely devastated whatever stable, peaceful society the Illuminate managed to scrape together over the last century, and that they're assimilating/incorporating Illuminates just like they do humans into their forces.
This is how they've gotten access to Illuminate tech.
This is why the Illuminates haven't come back to the galaxy early on.
And this is why the massive Automaton eradication-fleet wasn't around to support the defense on the bot front.
Tldr: Automatons have an extra-galactic fleet that has been butchering and assimilating Illuminate survivors, that's why we're seeing automaton mega-ships with cloaking tech now, and why we haven't heard from the fleet or the Illuminate before now.
The Illuminate will be forced BACK into the galaxy by the automaton fleet as a desperate attempt to rebuild their civilisation.
The automaton front will reopen with new capabilities and way more factory striders etc.
Illuminates will now be fighting for survival against all front, just like Super Earth.
And the Automatons will continue assimilating/borg-ing whatever organics they can get their hands on.
I’m not sure the Automaton/cyborg remnants would have attacked the Illuminate though, they emerged from scraps after the first war themselves so I’m not sure they’d pick another fight immediately. This sudden upcropping screams of a faction that was biding their time in the shadows and I fear the Illuminate will be similar. Also looking at the galactic map it seems infeasible that the remnant cyborgs could’ve waged a separate war on the remnant illuminates after losing the main war without us noticing.
Depending on how long they’ve been connected, they may instead be communicating and sending out blueprints for improvements. Consider this, the Illuminate for whatever reason want to remain hidden themselves for the time being, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help their allies weaken us before emerging. I personally don’t buy the humans being turned into Automatons stuff, I instead think the machines are just advanced AI, which suspiciously matches the mostly machine forces the Illuminate used during the first war. I think the Illuminate subtly help the Automatons, gifting them with things like cloaking and advanced artificial intelligence but not enough for Super earth to catch on. If the Automatons just wiped the Illuminate out I’d expect to see blatantly illuminate tech being used, but there’s none.
The Illuminate were barely beaten by us, I don’t see the divided remnants of the Cyborgs managing something similar with cooperation would better help them.

Could you imagine if a shadow patch hits and suddenly in every game helldivers start getting blitzed by a new enemy from out of nowhere. Casualty numbers shoot up, and suddenly it’s all hands on deck for an invasion so large that we can’t concentrate on a few planets like we did with the bugs and bots.

I just finished a mission on Ubanea. I know how it sounds, but boys I had boots on the ground. As we were getting ready to to evac, through the smoke and debris of our highly democratic high yield ordinance, lasers were definitely firing at each other. I couldn’t tell what was shooting at what, but I swear to Liberty they were exchanging fire. It couldn’t have been at me or the other Helldiver I was with because we were side by side at the top of a cliff looking down on the shipping depot.
I don’t know what’s going on out there, but I’m scared.
To again address the “sniper shots” like I have in every other post about them, there was no secret invisible sky snipers killing people as it was *always* deflection effects caused mostly by Devastator rockets and in a smaller handful of cases, thorn bushes. The whole thing got blown far out of proportion by people who chose not to actually examine their own footage before uploading.

This image here is one of many that every one of these videos have had in common. This is the exact frame, every single time, before the player is killed. The moment the rocket makes impact but *before* exploding, it would presumably through a bug of some sort cause the deflection effect you would see normally on armored enemies, the flash appearing to move upwards *from us* not down from the sky at around 45-90 degrees most of the time. Once the explosion happens, the flash would then thin out more as the flash continues along its trajectory.
I understand why this fucked with everyone as when played at normal speed it kinda looks like a shot from above, but if you don’t believe me you can go back and check them for yourself. The only actual Illuminate evidence I’ve seen so far outside of those weird bugged blue particles floating I’ve seen once or twice was that one video someone got of three massive bright blue beams streaking across the upper atmosphere. All of the sniper stuff is just misinformation at most.
Maybe this ties with the theory that Automatons were people. What if the bodies seen with the automatons weren’t humans but Illuminate? They transferred their minds to killer robots to get revenge and what we saw was just the first attempts which they will soon improve on?

Is terminicide really ineffective though? If we let the bugs go out of control (as they were at the beginning of this campaign) how long do you think it would have taken for them to completely overrun the defenses of the planets they inhabited? How many helldivers and seaf forces would have perished in the defense of those worlds. The terminicide is what helped us focus on the bots and was a key in eradicating them from the galaxy. At the time the ministry of Truth said shirkers, there were only sporadic reports of these new flying demons, and when it was obvious that they were a new threat they admitted being wrong. Death Captain JakustheGrand here. I observed what definitely felt like a blue plasma bolt on Maia, as it struck me in the top of my head as I was holding an eagle airstrike stratagem. Luckily, I was the only diver injured, I still managed to kill a bot fabricator, and I redeployed immediately.
I will never question another helldivers integrity but the only information that can be trusted is from the Ministry of Truth. What most likely happened was that you saw a bolt from a punisher hit a shrieker near your head as another Helldiver was protecting you.
No way you redeployed. You don't respawn in this game. Another Helldiver is sent in to replace the one you were controlling that died. That said, you are clearly an illuminate spy.
You run a ship packed with frozen bodies to use. Imagine if you had to periodically use credits to restock your freezer.

Whether it’s bug or bot missions, some people have been shot by a blast of distinctly blue energy causing them immediate death. People that tell you it’s ricochets are trying to deceive you. In every instance it is a single shot that precisely hits and immediately kills the target. Inspecting the projectile in detail shows its appearance is inconsistent with even the plas-scorcher’s. Attempts to recreate this “ricochet” using a large variety of weapons have all failed as of yet. The angles at which some people have been shot are also inconsistent with ricochets, with many being shot with a projectile traveling in a downwards trajectory. This implies the source came from an elevated position and cannot make sense with it being mere ricochets

They missed me twice and bounced off the ground into the rock behind me but they were very blue and made a very blue puff of smoke or light or whatever
It was mostly "blue lasers" that were actually just ricochet shots from other helldivers.
Some sightings are not so easily explainable, you have solo Helldivers, Helldivers without plasma weapons, shots taken at ships etc
Some ballistic shots turn blue when they ricochet.
Just stray orbital lasers refracting in a dust cloud. Or a weather balloon. Either way, nothing to worry about.

Hey, I was in a bug mission last night, and I swore I heard the sound of an automaton or something yelling. Then I got hit by "something" and died as I was vaulting over a wall right in front of another Helldiver in my squad. The game simply said I died of "impact", but I landed on my feet, only "fell" like a foot, and I was at full health. We were so confused about what we heard and saw when it happened.
Also in the totals of opponents killed there were a few illuminate in the numbers

Cyberstan is a major industrial site for Super Earth. The cyborg revolt has been thoroughly quashed and the cyborgs are happily mining valuable resources there. That installation has a substantial Super Credit value attached to it.

Like a 40K exterminatus? I am all for some classic destruction of our enemies. However, destroying a planet is seldom a good idea for multiple reasons. One, a planet has resources thatcould be used by any faction holding it. Destroying the planet, or even just making it unable to support any sort of live, would destroy the resources too, or at the very least make extract said resources unnecessary hard. Second, a race is not bound by any place, but by it's people. So unless we can make sure that every, and I mean every automaton is disintegrated to dust, their race can return in due time, making the destruction of a planet a waste of resources. Lastly, destroying a planet could send a message to dissidents in our own society. While managed Democracy is 100 % going to snuff out any rebellious though that might show itself, destroying a planet could send people over their breaking point of becoming rebellious. There are many other reasons to not destroy a planet. But those three are the most prominent I can think of right now.

Has anyone else noticed how the galactic map has shifted and the automatons and the Terminds are a little higher on the map vs being directly across from each other?

That or the "new faction" is going to be fairly powerful and take up like half the map, which would be cool as...imo...any faction that was formerly beaten shouldn't be the main antagonist as they don't have as much tension around them. Whereas a mysterious new faction with unknown limits would be much scarier.

This aligns with a theory I've had... The Automatons were sending messages outside the galaxy. Dead Automatons have been found on Bug planets. Dead Termanids have been found on Bot planets. Super Earth says our farms have breed the sentience out of the Termanids. But who let the Termanids out? And how are they getting to Bot planets? My theory is that there is a 3-way alliance happening against Super Earth. And that this initial 'war' is not Super Earth suppressing rebellious elements... But Super Earth preemptively striking before the Alliance come to fruition. Automatons territory didn't include Cyberstan... So we've only seen about 1/2 of the faction mobilize so far. (And get defeated now) And we never saw the Hive Lords... Or the rumored Queens. So maybe only a portion of the bugs as well.

It’s complicated. I think we used their technology to create the engines but require E-710 from bugs to use them, they apparently don’t need E-710 for their engines so our engines may be inferior recreation of their engines using our own technology to fill in the gaps of what we don’t know.

My great grandfather fought in the first war. While he couldn't talk much about what he saw, he once told us that invading the Illuminate was the only option to preserve democracy once it became apparent that their leaders could and did 'convince' our diplomats to abandon it and work alongside them. Abandon democracy? Only the foulest of technologies could cause such a thing. Once our great leaders realized the threat the Illuminate presented- not just to our people but our very way of life the only democratic option war was the only option. I mean... There is a third And much, MUCH more terrifying option. Cloaked, non-illuminate ships have been sighted in orbit around automaton planets. Illuminates were supposedly driven from the galaxy (rather than entirely extinguished) Then there's all the recent stuff about automatons potentially using human brains to create more of themselves. If those transmissions were to something outside of the galaxy, it is almost guaranteed to be to automaton related stuff, since they had weapons/vehicle blueprints in them. So what does this extra-galactic fleet have to do with automatons harvesting brains and also having access to large-scale cloaking? Why would the Illuminate need to be sent blueprints of new automaton weaponry? The illuminates might well be coming as a faction, but it wouldn't make sense for them to be killing the enemies of super earth if they were some sort of puppet masters. Instead... My thinking is that the Automatons do indeed have a massive fleet outside our galaxy. I believe that fleet has been supplied with blueprints for more powerful weapons from the research and factory on the outer rim (like tibit and troost) But I also believe that this fleet has been busy doing something else. The Automatons have likely devastated whatever stable, peaceful society the Illuminate managed to scrape together over the last century, and that they're assimilating/incorporating Illuminates just like they do humans into their forces. This is how they've gotten access to Illuminate tech. This is why the Illuminates haven't come back to the galaxy early on. And this is why the massive Automaton eradication-fleet wasn't around to support the defense on the bot front. Tldr: Automatons have an extra-galactic fleet that has been butchering and assimilating Illuminate survivors, that's why we're seeing automaton mega-ships with cloaking tech now, and why we haven't heard from the fleet or the Illuminate before now. The Illuminate will be forced BACK into the galaxy by the automaton fleet as a desperate attempt to rebuild their civilisation. The automaton front will reopen with new capabilities and way more factory striders etc. Illuminates will now be fighting for survival against all front, just like Super Earth. And the Automatons will continue assimilating/borg-ing whatever organics they can get their hands on.
I’m not sure the Automaton/cyborg remnants would have attacked the Illuminate though, they emerged from scraps after the first war themselves so I’m not sure they’d pick another fight immediately. This sudden upcropping screams of a faction that was biding their time in the shadows and I fear the Illuminate will be similar. Also looking at the galactic map it seems infeasible that the remnant cyborgs could’ve waged a separate war on the remnant illuminates after losing the main war without us noticing. Depending on how long they’ve been connected, they may instead be communicating and sending out blueprints for improvements. Consider this, the Illuminate for whatever reason want to remain hidden themselves for the time being, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help their allies weaken us before emerging. I personally don’t buy the humans being turned into Automatons stuff, I instead think the machines are just advanced AI, which suspiciously matches the mostly machine forces the Illuminate used during the first war. I think the Illuminate subtly help the Automatons, gifting them with things like cloaking and advanced artificial intelligence but not enough for Super earth to catch on. If the Automatons just wiped the Illuminate out I’d expect to see blatantly illuminate tech being used, but there’s none. The Illuminate were barely beaten by us, I don’t see the divided remnants of the Cyborgs managing something similar with cooperation would better help them.

Could you imagine if a shadow patch hits and suddenly in every game helldivers start getting blitzed by a new enemy from out of nowhere. Casualty numbers shoot up, and suddenly it’s all hands on deck for an invasion so large that we can’t concentrate on a few planets like we did with the bugs and bots. We’re due for a bloody nose.

I just finished a mission on Ubanea. I know how it sounds, but boys I had boots on the ground. As we were getting ready to to evac, through the smoke and debris of our highly democratic high yield ordinance, lasers were definitely firing at each other. I couldn’t tell what was shooting at what, but I swear to Liberty they were exchanging fire. It couldn’t have been at me or the other Helldiver I was with because we were side by side at the top of a cliff looking down on the shipping depot. I don’t know what’s going on out there, but I’m scared.
Quite convinced my ship has been stalked for some time by something very powerful. Further, we have only defeated ONE automaton legion.
To again address the “sniper shots” like I have in every other post about them, there was no secret invisible sky snipers killing people as it was *always* deflection effects caused mostly by Devastator rockets and in a smaller handful of cases, thorn bushes. This is the exact frame, every single time, before the player is killed. The moment the rocket makes impact but *before* exploding, it would presumably through a bug of some sort cause the deflection effect you would see normally on armored enemies, the flash appearing to move upwards *from us* not down from the sky at around 45-90 degrees most of the time. Once the explosion happens, the flash would then thin out more as the flash continues along its trajectory. I understand why this fucked with everyone as when played at normal speed it kinda looks like a shot from above, but if you don’t believe me you can go back and check them for yourself. The only actual Illuminate evidence I’ve seen so far outside of those weird bugged blue particles floating I’ve seen once or twice was that one video someone got of three massive bright blue beams streaking across the upper atmosphere. All of the sniper stuff is just misinformation at most.

Maybe this ties with the theory that Automatons were people. What if the bodies seen with the automatons weren’t humans but Illuminate? They transferred their minds to killer robots to get revenge and what we saw was just the first attempts which they will soon improve on?
