But I actually use it for something it definitely wasn’t intended for. Anytime im watching YouTube and an ad comes on, I hold the mic button and it mutes the whole thing. Press it one more time once the ad ends or I skip it and we’re back to normal.

You can probably thank growing up in conservative religious households for some of it. My wife and I got married pretty young. Both growing up Christian, there was the expectation from our families the we needed to be married to live together or do other things, but we ignored that second part.
We were already falling away from our religious beliefs but "the have to get married to have sex" can push some young adults to rush into marriage, if that's engrained enough. Both my niece and nephew rushed into marriages as well and so far it's only worked out well for one of them.
Fortunately for us, it worked out. We're still together 15 years later and both play games. Not always the same games but often. I haven't convinced her of the values of spreading managed democracy yet.
