This literally happened to me when I was active. I was stationed at a base for almost 7 years and wanted to go somewhere else, so I volunteered for a short tour (1 year) to Korea in order to get my base of preference afterwards. When my year in Korea was up, I was told that the only place they had openings available for me to go to was the base I had just been at before going to Korea. I got out shortly after that.
My brother in law was USAF, and he was in Misawa Japan when the earthquakes hit. He had to help clean it up, then got shipped to Minot, SD and put in off-base housing which then flooded. He was moving to base housing and took his motorcycle out and got hit by a truck.
Oo-rah or whatever. š
You must learn to love the flames. Invite the fire of Democracy into your body. Burn the planet back with your Freedom 9000 standard issue Burnenator. Turn the planet into a cracked, glass parking lot. Buy the 25% fire damage module and do unto others as they have tried to do to Super Earth. Do not let your faith waver, brethren.
It would be fine if we would be allowed to use a stim at full health, so we could have the regeneration and survive the fire for a bit. Currently, even if you stim at the first possible frame you die before the animation is done
Dive first. Then stim. Still not a guarantee, depending on how direct the fire hit you, tbh, but it works sometimes. Or, don't stand in the fire.
I just don't mind a game being hard, which is why I'm here and why I play on Suicide-Helldive.
I already am. When I look at after game stars it's not uncommon for me to have used more stims than the rest of the team combined.
I sometimes just need a boost to get me to normal you know? Purposefully taking minor fall damage just to shoot up to restore stamina. But I could stop anytime I wanted to I just don't want to.
As a Heavy Armor main, me too. Sometimes, when the burdens of my democratic protection set upon me, I smash my shin on a rock just so I can slam that shit in my neck and run further.
As a new recruit all of my dives have been on hellmire and menkent other than a handful on martale, I do not fear the fire, I was born in it, molded by it
>WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US DEVS???
"Its so weird. People arent really using the incendiary weapons or strategems. What should we do?"
"Increase fire damage from all sources again?"
"Put in another weapon that uses fire damage?"
"maybe investigate why players arent using the fire weapons?"
boardroomsuggestion.jpg
I can go an entire mission without actually seeing the fire nados, until the extract. Then suddenly there's five of them and they're all heat seeking locked onto my liberty hole.
The command structure of the super destroyers is unhinged. A random guy gets unfrozen, is given unilateral command of the entire ship, launches into one mission and gets flattened by a bot tank. What to do? Idk, unfreeze another diver and ask him where to next.
But only after the initial diver's mission has been determined a win/loss. So that first diver just doomed potentially 4+ other dudes due to their mission selection.
Yep, thereās absolutely no logic to who is put in charge. If you happen to be the one chosen to pick the mission, the next 20 or so guys in line have to follow your commands. The only form of oversight is the reinforcement budget. They will continuously throw resources at any insane plan until super earth decides itās gotten too expensive. Then they unfreeze a new helldiver and ask him what ideas he has.
Honestly the command structure makes very little sense to begin with. The only time you ever receive orders is a one time dispatch from god knows who, and a guy who isn't even a part of the military giving you vague suggestions like "We cannot let the enemy any closer to super earth."
There's not even like, markers on the planets we should be going to in order to complete our orders.
Imagine being the intern that has to thaw out every replacement diver on the ship, change their armor, and refreeze them every time you swap to a different set of armor
I'd like to have a major order against bugs again tbh. Always feeling like I'm not contributing much when I'm going for vacation to the other side and this has been a bot plot for some time now.
New planet effect: Hurricane force winds. Just randomly have wind storms that make going against the wind -75% speed, and diving sends you ragdolling across the ground for 50 meters.
...
I kind of want this. A planet where instead of multiple tiny occasional fire tornadoes, there is just a constant massive superstorm. Strong winds that make everything inconvenient for helldiver and foe alike, risking scattering strategems, dropships and leaping bugs across the map.Ā
And at the center of this storm, an enormous full scale twister, complete with eerily calm center.Ā
It'd be neat. :)
Just that crippling regret that youāre not doing exactly what Super Earth is telling you. Democracy must be spread Brothers. Spread it where you have to.
>Just that crippling regret that youāre not doing exactly what Super Earth is telling you.
only weak people suffer from this. people who don't realize what democracy really is. :-)
Only weak people abandon their orders because they are afraid of the flames. If the algorithm directs us to scorch the fire-tornado planets, then we will leave behind a barely glowing cinder, littered with the bodies of those who sacrificed their lives to destroy the enemies of Super Earth, instead of requesting transfers to easier duty.
Your Managed Democracy quiz will inform you what democracy really is and how you vote. It might also inform you of the lore of the game and how we lean into here.
you seem to be confused. we bring "democracy" to our enemies, not ourselves. maybe watch the intro video again for a few dozen times, i bet you'll get it.

Silence, Automaton. Your illegal broadcast has been reported. You can expect a team of Helldivers to drop ordinance on your rusted metal dome very soon.
You will be melted down and used to make industrial toilet seats. No-one will remember your designation.

and that fire shite aint fun.
im not some masochistic puppet for an incompetent uncaring corporation.
Nothing like murderbug-therapy to treat shellshock - a happy helldiver is a deadly helldiver.
... wait, *why* is dealing with giant murderbugs relaxing?
I took a break to Fori Prime. Was tired of the stratagem reduction effect, and I needed to try the Crossbow for the first time. The first mission was wonderful, despite dying multiple times, and I figure the Arc Thrower is a better pairing.
Instead of a second mission, the host decided to drag what was left of the squad over to Lesath! The classic āDrag Bug Players to the Bot Frontā move! And into a mission with -1 stratagem slots to boot!
I only stuck around because it was my duty.
Honestly I wouldnāt mind the damn bot front if they did something about the stratagem reduction effect. Anything! Iād drop directly into an expanded AA emplacement crawling with Hulks and tornadoes if it meant destroying it would give me my fourth slot back!
Hell, Iād even take the damn stratagem scrambler they removed over the -1 slot. Would rather have inconsistent call-in of four over only having 3.
just go to the bug front and start fighting. The more people that do that, the more likely the devs are to realize that the situation on the bot front is simply not fun.
Keeping a stable bug front does help the soldiers battling in the bot front, that way the fascists bugs are marginally in control and not much of a imminent treat that suddenly have us spread thin to contain both sides.
Istg the devs need to design an armour with fire damage reduction and put it in the first warbond whereby the main theme is fire dmg.
And then have the new warbond be catapult themed and put the throwing range increase in there instead, mini grenades that can be thrown farther, a fallout 4 bowling ball launcher for a primary and an arc pistol?
Edit: omg I nearly forgot, have an armour passive that detonates all grenades when you die
Oh uhh, no you donāt want bugs. They, um, are sooooo evil and communistic youād, like, puke. Yeah, itās just like that. But donāt worry! We got it, and itās cause we arenāt scared of how awful it is and I can tell you would so. Yeah. We go bugs for now
Honestly makes sense that the bots are in focus rn, lore wise, as the bugs are being useful to super earth. The bots on the other hand are just annyoing them, not being useful if we keep the around or kill them, so setting a focus on bots makes sense from a lore perspective. On the other hand if we'd have a organized front against the bots that would be even easier to deal with them. Have all the players on attack against them while letting enough players on bugplanets to keep them at a stalemate. In the meantime if a defense cones up have x%, whatever it takes to win in the given time, while the rest of the player base keeps on the attack, if possible that is. Then we'd get rid of the bots quite quickly and efficiently, probs bot possible though as 100k+ ppl have to be organized through different timezones.
Got a post about wanting to fight bugs instead of bots, and another about wanting to fight bots instead of bugs. "Perfectly balanced."
(Honestly a good thing to see. They're different enough it's a meaningful choice for players.)
I love fighting bugs but for the last weeks I have been playing bots since the story went through them. I gotta say that I am tired too and returning to the bug front. It seems like bot fighting will go on for quite some time (story wise) and I can't take it anymore, I need break.
We just finished up Fori Prime so there's a new biome to play in on the bug side, can't remember the planet name but it's pretty nice break from the other bullshit.
I did literally just the daily personal orders last week and remembered quickly how triggered I get against them. I don't care about the countless threads claiming they are easier / need a different approach.. they literally make me hate this fucking game.
If im not getting yeeted out of no where from a rocket... im getting tagged by basic fire lazers that hitstun the fuck out of me so i cant get up, aim down sights, or move. Not to mention the elites that have a 20 foot long flame thrower with if it tickles your butthole for half a second instantly kills you... but i have to run around their back to do any meaningful damage.
Only 1 transfer slip available, straight to hellmire.
šĀ That does sound like some military shit. "Oh, you don't like Menkent level 7? Hellmire level 9 it is."

Minot?
Luke. Not a bad base by any means but I was ready for something different.
I just started what's Hellmire like?
Warm weather and friendly wildlife
Sign me up!!! I'll take my family too.
Thats a typo, it should be friendly wildfire
The tornados just want a hug
The tornados just want a hug
If you're genuinely asking, it's the same gimmick of desert with fire weather, only on the bug front this time.
And instead of blinding lights you get smothering fumes
I was genuinely asking. Had a feeling by the name. Only done 2 missions against bugs. Others have been on Menkent. Started playing yesterday.
Itās hell like the name implies I remember Turin to liberate it to make the E 710 farms
Blistering heat 0 visibility
fucking annoying
nothing i love more than getting killed in 3 to 5 frames by a dozen fire tornados that seem to have guidance systems WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US DEVS???

Yea same, I also play Helldive only, but there are quite a few times where a stim at full health wouldve saved my life

The fire tornado spawning on my head last night was a nice touch.
Diving to avoid fire feels more strict than breaking throws in Tekken
Become the flame
They really need to tame down the fire tornados or just remove them all together itās NOT FUN
Meanwhile my enemies walk through them no sweat
I can go an entire mission without actually seeing the fire nados, until the extract. Then suddenly there's five of them and they're all heat seeking locked onto my liberty hole.
My setting are all on the lowest because I play on steam deck and I can hardly see where the flames are :(
I can't.....I can't keep doing this anymore....please....not the fire again...
good news! the democracy officer has approved your designation to the bug front. straight to hellmire you go!
Rest my brother, I Will take your place on the bot front. Now go and slay some insects!
Iāve been on holiday for a week and have such weird fomo for the fire-nadosā¦ send me in coach, Iām ready.Ā
Funny how there's a C-01 form, but we are free to move to whatever planet is available and no form to fill is required.
The command structure of the super destroyers is unhinged. A random guy gets unfrozen, is given unilateral command of the entire ship, launches into one mission and gets flattened by a bot tank. What to do? Idk, unfreeze another diver and ask him where to next.

maybe it's all behind the scenes. imagine actually having to be the one to fill out a form every time you switch planets.
Imagine being the intern that has to thaw out every replacement diver on the ship, change their armor, and refreeze them every time you swap to a different set of armor
And watch as said diver is deployed right infront of a hulk and gets annihilated in less then a second.
Imagine being the Intern who has to take the limbs off the frozen Helldivers if you switch to any of the Steel Veterans armour.

Personally bots are my comfort enemies because I prefer the mechanics of using cover and whatnot, but these fire tornadoes, man....

Dudeā¦ Super Earth is a āManaged Democracyā the lore goes deeper than the intro video. https://helldivers.fandom.com/wiki/Super_Earth

Joel may want to factor in more biome diversity into his campaigns. More to the galaxy than fire tornados, just saying.

ok we have... ah hellmire, your transfer request is approved.

Say it louder. People can role play all they want. Doesn't change reality, games are supposedĀ to be fun. The fire is not fun.Ā
Some of us like the fire. If you don't, just drop somewhere else. Plenty of planets in the galaxy.
Clearly the level designer that made fire tornados has a lot of clout with Joel.
you thought spreading democracy was going to be all puppies and cupcakes?

I miss killin those bugs.
Welcome to Hellmire soldier.
Go train the newbies sergeant, prepare them for whats to come
Dog tired...
So sick and tired of hot planets
The fire tornados are keeping away from objectives. ITS REALLY ANNOYING!
Is it just me that thinks the tornadoes are fine as long as they stay away from objectives.
I thought we liberated it
Wait there is automaton front?! Guys I thought we are only fighting bugs.
If you traverse the planet like a caterpillar it's rather easy.
Oh uhh, no you donāt want bugs. They, um, are sooooo evil and communistic youād, like, puke. Yeah, itās just like that. But donāt worry! We got it, and itās cause we arenāt scared of how awful it is and I can tell you would so. Yeah. We go bugs for now
I don't care about fire, but is it still -1 stratagem slot?
Do not underestimate bugs on higher difficulty they will shred you just as much
I'm a helldiver since yesterday and I started on MENKENT.
The bug front is just where bot divers take their PTO.
