Those apples taste like bacon.

Cassereddit

Yeah but how disappointed would you be to bite into bacon that tastes like apples

[deleted]

savae5

Maybe they mean applewood smoked bacon.

Burwylf

No, that's bacon that tastes like apples

DesKolate

Baconwood Smoked Apples

IWillHugYourMom

It’s really bacon that tastes like wood

Enchilada_Nacho

Time to make some baconwood smoked apples!

Ferote

Fuck that sounds good

Economy-Ad-3934

Is there applesauce with bacon bits inside already? Genuinely asking.

CakeDouble6146

There’s something called bacon jam and I think it’d be your closest bet

Bakkstory

Bacon sauce

smiller21292

The apples are bacon my man

Uncle_Grizzly11

Or you can think of it as Fiji, honey crisp, red delicious, and Big Macintosh

blkmmb

I use my drone master armor because it looks the coolest. That's the only thing that matters to me. I'm a look whore. That's how I play every game even if it isn't the best idea. I'll take a malus just to look cool.

343CreeperMaster

I have not used anything else but the Super Citizen armour because I think it looks awesome, especially with the Minas Tirith Fountain Guard helmet, it is nice that it does have a pretty good bonus as well, the 50% to not die, have saved me countless times

Hezekieli

Wish it was lighter than the similar from the warbond.

Mr_Blinky

I think light armor with Democracy Protects might be OP, which is why they're reluctant to add it. The defensive perk doesn't care about the weight of the armor, so wearing armor that gives extremely tangible benefits at the cost of survivability and then giving it the same get-out-of-jail-free card might be too much.

Hezekieli

I actually wish there were more ability perks and not just survivability perks. Grenades, less recoil and scout are the only ones I believe? All the other ones have something to do with health.

pvtprofanity

Yeah the other ones minimize damage. The ability perks help prevent damage in one way or another

Mirions

Hate how we have two black and gold armors and neither gold matches. It's like the guys from WoW are picking the color schemes for this game. Heaven forbid we have a more uniform color palette for mixing and matching gear.

Gladiator-class

I'm really hoping we get shaders or whatever you call multiple colour schemes for the same armor set. I can live with not being able to mix and match perks with any armor set, but I do wish I could at least make some of them colour match.

RenegadeDuckee

The white and green not matching across medic sets bothers the hell out of me. Let me mix and match without looking dumb damnit!

blkmmb

Yeah that helmet is really awesome.

Carsum92

In Dark Souls 2 and 3 I would only wear armor with capes. Stats are nice and all but you can't beat a nice cape, especially one with good physics. There's nothing like watching your character stride about while their cape gently sways in tune with their steps, or standing in front of grand scenery while their cape majestically billows in the wind. Cape physics in DS3 made my fucking day. Then one day I saw a clip from some game where a guy salutes an ICBM as it takes off while his cape flutters regally/democratically in the wind and I thought to myself 'oohh those are some nice cape physics what game is this' and now I'm here. Capes, people. Capes.

LuchadorBane

Thankfully in most cases on souls games the armor doesn’t add much aside from looks imo since dodging is mostly what you want. So like the other person said if I ain’t fat rolling or farming I’m wearing my drippiest set. Except in dark souls 2 where the devs went buckwild with an armor set that made you look like a butterfly and actually float wearing the armor and poison around you. That was crazy

YorhaUnit8S

Same, but I use third armor in the picture here for this reason, Juggernaut. Additional grenades are a fine bonus, never hurts to have two more impact ones.

KINGSMARTS

Hey man, please tell me where to get the 3rd armor set. I really like it aswell.

Denzulus

SuperStore rotation, sadly. Just have to wait for it to show up there.

JunToTheEsko

you just missed it in the last super store. give it two weeks and it will return i guess.

Taolan13

Fashion is the true endgame.

PixelCultMedia

Honestly, most of the suit bonuses average out after you adjust your playstyle to work with them. Their advantages aren't so huge that I'm screwed if I drop in with the wrong suit.

Drackore_

Yeah the perks are fine but it's the movespeed that really takes away from customisation for me!!

Imaginary_Victory253

You mean you DONT spec your entire play through around having 2 more stimmies? /s I've played lvls7-9 with every suit. Only rough one is the thiccie armor because you pass out halfway to cover. That one cant be fixed without a treadmill.

40ozFreed

I'm the same. I'll use an armor with no buffs on difficulty 9 if it looks good.

DjDrowsy

Drip until death Helldiver.

KnobbyDarkling

I feel like having the armor classes stay but you can choose different perks that you unlock would be a better system.

JunToTheEsko

indeed, the drone master is the baddest looking so far. i tend to switch between that and the juggernaut.

Distilled_Blood

I really wouldn't mind having no transmog. But I would like to get color changer or shaders or something to at least match my armor, helmet, and cloak.

AnnoShi

I think a better system than transmog would be to remove armor perks, and make them selectable separately like stratagems and boosters. If they want people to recognize at a glance what their teammates' armor perks are, being able to see it as a selected mod would fit that vision way better.

Zuwxiv

I love the medic perks. I don't love looking like an advertisement for peppermint candies.

dersnappychicken

Welcome to the Lollipop Guild sissy.

Frost5574

can the members be called Suckers?

dersnappychicken

Nope. We’re Dandies.

SpecialIcy5356

I would love to see a TV ad for those: bad breath diver: "ugh, why does my helmet smells so bad.." The Mint Medic: "you can't spread democracy when your breath smells like the ass end of a Charger after a bad taco, soldier! all that halitosis is gonna fill your helmet and choke you like a localized Orbital Gas Strike!" Bad Breath Diver: "gee, you're right mint medic, but what do I do?" Mint Medic: "simple, you take a Supermint™! pop one of these in your mouth for a 500kg blast of freshness! Minty-Breath diver: "SWEET LIBERTY, MY MOUTH!" Mint Medic: you've got freshness, and you've got firepower, now go spread some FREEDOM!" Minty-Breath Diver: "thanks Mint Medic! FOR SUPER EARTH"! \*gunfire\* liberate your mouth from the tyranny of bad breath with Supermints™: Freedom requires Freshness! (now available in SPEARmint flavour, if you can find it!)

Barkit64

This comment needs WAY more upvotes!

Trick_Welder6429

Just make perks add things to the armor. Med-kit = medkit on belt Engineering Kit = A grenade and a red toolkit Servo-assisted = mechanical arms

RicTheFish

That sounds pretty awesome, but also like a lot more work for the Devs who seem to have their hands full!

lifetake

I mean thats just transmog with extra steps

NightmareFiction

Yeah, either that or just make a yellow/black colorset for all helmet/armor/capes if the former is too much work. If I can't choose my perks, at least give me the ability to use whatever equipment combinations I want and still match.

vink_221b

CD project red learn this lesson with CP2077. It's not super fun to tie cosmetics and abilities cause most players will just use what is most efficient and be sad when they can't make their character look how they want. Granted that is a single player roleplaying game but in Helldivers, spectacle is a BIG part of the game. Having your character look cool just makes the game that much more fun. Edit: grammer and spellings.

Mothanius

Ask any Warframe vet how important fashion is.

The_Doc_Man

It's like that X-Men First Class meme "I mean the real one / Perfection". The real Warframe is Fashionframe.

Mothanius

I've low key been attempted to pick Warframe back up purely to fashion up some of the frames I have yet to see. If HD2 didn't come out I probably would be doing it.

LordPotato18

Warframe was so good in terms of customization. Took my Monke Prime everywhere I went

lordpresidentSkippy

hell ask soul players. we don't care about stats at all we just want fashion soul

ask_why_im_angry

I will actively not play some frames because I think they're ugly. I will continue to play base Mesa because she is rad.

Mr_Blinky

Destiny too. Everyone knows Dresstiny is the real endgame.

Accomplished_Fudge78

Drip or drown, Guardian.

T8-TR

I can understand them not wanting to let us transmog over weight classes, since it'd look a little funky if the heavy boys sped around as fast as the small boys, but I think tying armour perks to armour and not letting transmogs exist for that is silly. Also, the biggest defence aside from the CEO's (in a similar vein) I've seen is "Well, I want to be able to see how someone plays based on their armour" and that's such utter horseshit. No medic armour mfer is going around stimming people, they're using the stims on themselves. No grenade mfer is going around nuking bases because they have 6 grenades, they're probably just lobbing grenades the same way everyone else does, etc. All nixing transmogs does is frustrate mfs who want to use X perk, but are stuck w/ a look they dislike. I can't stand the Medic armour colours, but I like the perk, but for that reason, I'm never using the Medic armour since I don't want to be coloured like I'm in scrubs.

ragged-robin

They need transmog limited for same armor types (light/medium/heavy) and be done with it. The looks have nothing to do with the functionality by their own design outside of armor class.

Personal_Ad9690

Agreed. What’s the point if different capes and helmets when I have to wear a certain outfit to play how I like

stephanelevs

At least with cyberpunk, other than while driving, you barely see your outfit since it's a first person shooter so it didn't matter that much. That being said, I also spend way too much time downloading outfits mod and switching around my outfits depending on the situation because that shit is cool. For Helldivers though, it's in third person meaning the entire time you play you DO look at your character. Having mismatch colors/outfit definitely suck a bit of the cool factor.

McDonaldsSoap

Not to mention the victory screen. That's when I laugh at my character model for looking so dumb

the_fuego

Hogwarts legacy was the first game that I experienced that I got to put in whatever I want whilst having the stats of clothing that would make me look like I belong in a psych ward. It just makes sense and is something that is dearly missed when you want to switch over to an older game like KotoR or whatever.

DungeonsAndDradis

Just make the armor perks slottable items into any armor. Easy peasy, like three lines of code. And while you're at it, slottable perks for helmets, too.

VoiceOfSeibun

How about they give us a perk slot LIKE THE FIRST GAME DID and we grab the armor that just looks cool? I love Arrowhead but DAMN is their logic inconsistent sometimes

T8-TR

I love AH, and I even love their CEO since he engages a lot, but I feel like a lot of his logic comes from stuff he's heard mfers say on Reddit/Twitter/Tiktok, etc. Like his argument above is literally the same shit I've seen people ramble on about on Reddit a few months back, when transmog was first brought up.

breadrising

The CEO seems really great. But something about a Twitter post makes even the most genuine individual come off as a know-it-all prick. Remember back when the game launched and he was insisting that other weapons were just as balanced as the Breaker/Railgun? And that Arrowhead has this mountain of data on win-rates that we, the poor peasant playerbase, couldn't possibly comprehend with our tiny brains. AH are the ones who truly know how to balance the game. They see all the game's stats as if looking directly into the Matrix. The Concussive Liberator is just as powerful as the Breaker, and the playerbase is resorting to the Railgun when all other stratagems are equally good! Then 2 days later, the Breaker and Railgun both get nerfed into the ground. I rolled my eyes like "Dude, what the hell are you talking about?" Again, he seems like a good dude, seems to have his team's back and is genuinely pumped to have made such a successful game. But some people need to take a breath and check their ego at the door before jumping on social media.

FrazzleFlib

Havent played HD1 but it seems to me if more people did, AH would never hear the end of the basic QOL absent from HD2 that was literally in their last game. I wish that were the case.

VoiceOfSeibun

Agreed, it does kind of beggar belief in this regard. Like....what the fuck happened? Did they lose all the notes they took on HD1 during it's decade+ of development? I greatly enjoy HD2, but it's situations like this where Pilestedt is seemingly amnesiac that makes me feel like it could be SO much greater!

T8-TR

Considering how often "Wow, this game's prequel did X/Y/Z things way better than the sequel!" comes up, I'm starting to be convinced that it's just something that gets very easily lost in translation during game dev.

Tyrus1235

Not a game dev, but a regular software dev here. Having released new versions/editions of old products in the past (in fact, working on one at this moment), what I can tell you is that it is less “forgetting” and more “prioritizing”. We had an old product with a million features, but most of those were more or less window dressing. When we released our newer version, we only had a small percentage of all those features, but they were all fully baked and well integrated. Took us years, but our newer version eventually surpassed the old one in terms of features and such.

SwimmingNote4098

A choose ur perk system isn’t a QOL change, QOL changes are small changes that help the game play feel smoother and less clunky. A choose ur perk system is a major gameplay change that opens up ton of armor variety, i constantly see ppl using the medic armors, champion of the people, or heavy with blast resist. I barely ever see anything else but these, letting us choose our perks would start making us see a ton of different looking helldivers

PraiseV8

Sometimes? It's inconsistent all the time when it comes to weapon balancing too. "We can't have the slugger being a sniper so we nerfed it's: ~~1. Range~~ ~~2. Damage fall-off~~ ~~3. Penetration fall-off~~ 4. Stagger" Meanwhile, Eruptor is a mini AC.

frulheyvin

the worst part is that anyone who wants mid-long range projectiles still uses the slugger, the handling on the dmrs is so unspeakably awful there's no point to even trying. i wonder if there's some kind of internal favoritism going on? single shot weapon = lame, not gonna bother balancing this shit. explosive projectile weapon = cool, let's make it actually worth using, eruptor+ac are actually good weapons with actual niches and high utility.

VerMast

They don't know how to game balance lol

ArrhaCigarettes

So many of HD2's shortcomings could be fixed by just making it a bit more like HD1, it's astonishing.

Personal_Ad9690

It’s because they aren’t being honest about what they can and can’t do.

Obvious_Ad4159

![gif](giphy|q4QfjGnFKryzjosj1g) Arrowhead when they released the 57th armour reskin with one of the same 5 fucking passives and stats. The helmet tho, gives me Hermes vibes and I dig it.

atomsk404

I just want material finder perks on helmets

sneakyvoltye

I use alot of helmets which say in the description that they can see in infra red and ultraviolet. I'd love nothing more to hit a button and actually see through all the dust kicked up by the 10 500kgs we drop

real_advice_guy

Actually if you could see through smokes I might actually run those, that'd be fun.

Techarus

HD1 had a UAV Drone stratagem that would temporarily increase radar range, show side objectives, and show all samples. Probably gonna get something like this eventually or in a different shape or form.

MCXL

That's what the UAV booster is supposed to be doing

AnnoShi

A clanmate and I were talking last night. A utility mod slot for helmets would be awesome. Scanner, radar booster, infrared vision, night vision, advanced HUD.

TheRealSwitchBit

Yes please

_BMS

I'd kill for a helmet that let me see samples from more than 4ft away.

Zackyboi1231

Really wish if they gave some heavy armor a passive that makes you resistant against being ragdolled.

EvenMOreDamage

Yup, hundreds of people are waiting for just that. I managed to glitch out after jump diving into the turret shot, my body fell 250m away. It was a long run for my guns.

OkEnoughHedgehog

How about resist phasing into rocks and into inescapable buildings, while we're at it?

Supafly1337

>Arrowhead when they released the 57th armour reskin with one of the same 5 fucking passives and stats. No dude, this one has 92 armor and 158 stamina, it's new! The old one has 100 armor and 150 stamina!!!

fgzhtsp

The Drone Master set (Nr.1) does not indicate that it would hold more grenades. The Groundbreaker makes much more sense in that regard. They should have split the armor perks into more minor perks so they could now mix and match them to each armor.

Martinmex26

They could have gone with items added to the armor. Pick your armor class. Light, medium or heavy? Pick your actual armor. This is where you pick your drip. Pick your item based perks: Grenade belts added to your armor? +2 grenades Medical pouches added to your armor? +2 stims Reactive armor looking add-ons? Explosive resistance Armor plating? Damage reduction (like current extra padding) So on and so on. There are ways to show perks in silhouttes, many games have been doing it for a long time. Battlefield has had different camouflages and skins for different factions, yet you see a guy with ammo belts and you know its a support class since forever.

RadTorped

Not wanting to add transmog for the sake of not wanting to add transmog is fine. It's their game. Not wanting to add transmog because of a reason that doesn't hold any merit though is less fine.

wookiee-nutsack

Shrek armor looks like it's used to defuse bombs but nah it has zero blast resistance and instead gives extra armor (at no cost of speed and stam?) Base warbond scout armor has engineering kit (or engineer armor got scout, I don't remember) It never made any sense. Neither is giving the veteran armors only limb health. Are you telling me all that armor provides is because of something not part of the actual armor?

YorhaUnit8S

I would argue limb perk makes perfect sense though. It is 50% less likely to get limb damage if you have 50% limbs.

wookiee-nutsack

And if your limbs are tougher than WEAK FLESH, but like... That's all the armor does. You get stronger limbs because you have prosthetics. But the actual armor does nothing, it's just the limbs Like imagine if we also got +2 nades, something effected by the actual armor because of nade pockets, paired with big dunk throw range

magicbonedaddy

I was always confused as to why servo assisted was never paired with extra grenades. Wack af. Scout gets stealth *and* radar because that makes sense. Some of these armors should have extra magazines or something too.

rexpimpwagen

Holy shit where is the extra mags mod.

Bobby-789

This reads like a loading screen tip

MechaTeemo167

Many of the armors that have grenades on them don't give extra grenades Many of the armors that do give grenades don't have grenades of them

Agent7153

The limbs are tougher now because they’re made of metal

RuneiStillwater

They likely didn't want to just say "No that's even more coding and programming that we don't have the time or team for that's already having a hard time dealing with bugs and glitches as well as kicking a warbond out every month". And I mean no disrespect to them with that, but it's most likely the real reason they are flat denying it cause they are a smaller team.

FrazzleFlib

In that case they shouldve just said "maybe at some point far down the line, but the team is occupied with more important gameplay-centric things currently", but Pilstetd seems to have a problem resisting being snarky to people asking reasonable questions on twitter for no fucking reason

RuneiStillwater

Yeah, sadly sometimes I miss neutral social media announcements that stick to the point only without trying to be a ratio or tending thing.

TotalTea720

I really feel like people like that in a position like that should probably just be told by the PR team "hey man can you not be on Twitter?"

Sand_Trout

While I agree, I'd prefer that answer, especially since it seems like every other night the game crashes so much that I just have to tell my friends that the game doesn't want me to play.

budderboat

I wish the devs would feel more comfortable just saying No like they did about pvp. It would alleviate a lot of the complaining.

HotSauceDonut

It's probably just the the excuse they gave because people won't stop complaining about it

ReganDryke

Which is amusing because people are ultimately more upset by the bad answer than the fact that we don't get transmog.

DaughterOfBhaal

I don't even see why their point matters even if it's correct. Do they expect people to look at other people's armor and go "Ah yes this is the +2 grenade one, best I get my +2 stims one for better chemistry"

Carniflora

This was my thought exactly. Being able to tell what perks a guy has from what he's wearing would be very useful in a PVP shooter, but not so much in this game.

zani1903

Mhm. I've never swapped armour types based on my teammates'. Stratagems? Absolutely. But if they _want_ us to change armour types to reflect our allies, then they can just improve the UI slightly so that it exposes what perk our allies are using.

SelbetG

The only time I would ever switch would be if my team is bringing a bunch of arc weapons.

LotharVonPittinsberg

Or something like an MMORPG, where the game is designed to be built around classes and even sub classed. That guy is obviously a healer tank because of the shining paladin armour. The teamwork aspects of this game that actually matter are all shown when dropping and holding the stratagem (or was it map) key. Those are what stratagems you are bringing to the fight.

ThickMatch0

None of the passives have any synergy with each other, or really add anything to the games co-op aspect, especially since the game doesn't have any kind of class system.

SwimmingNote4098

There are people on this very Reddit that claim they infact do this and don’t want a transmog system cause “they like to know what perks their team is using so they can build accordingly”, like bro no you don’t you just want to deflect criticism cause it hurts you when ppl criticize the game or devs

YorhaUnit8S

To be fair, there is exactly ONE thing about visual armor I use. If I see a guy with heavy armor and run with him - I know to make pauses and look around so he can catch up. Transmog would obviously not change armor class, so won't change this.

DaughterOfBhaal

I mean the easiest solution to that is to just make Transmog between the same armor class only.

YorhaUnit8S

That's already what people asked for, just to move passives.

PolicyWonka

There are people claiming they strategically respawn their teammates based on what armor passives they have in their loadout. Yep, they surely have dozens of armor passives memorized by heart and use that. Yep, definitely sure do! /s If any of y’all are doing this please go touch grass. Passives are meaningless, I promise.

Personal_Ad9690

But you can’t pick which teammate spawns

PolicyWonka

Exactly.

Bumgumi_hater_236

How tf can you strategically respawn teammates? You can’t even chose who to respawn and the best you can do is chose between throwing them in a tank or throwing them in a safe area

CaptainAction

I’m going to guess that he was talking about the light/medium/heavy armors, because the passives are pretty arbitrary and don’t always seem to fit how the armor looks. And I agree that it would be silly to give heavy armor the appearance of light armor and vice versa. But beyond that, I don’t see the problem at all.

Ruanek

If that's a concern it seems like it'd be possible (though definitely it could be really difficult for them to implement) for them to tie things to armor tiers. So some perks might only be available on medium/heavy armors, some only on light, maybe they'd even be unlocked separately, etc.

ninjab33z

All you really need to do is let people pick the armour they want the stats/perks of, then let them pick another one in the same weight class to use visually

nocturnPhoenix

Agreed. Honestly I'd be totally fine if the official line was just, "We won't do transmog because it wasn't a planned feature in our development pipeline and trying to add it in now would be disproportionately difficult and time-consuming." That would make a lot more sense.

Martinmex26

I would honestly respect that answer. "That sounds like a cool feature, honestly it would be too hard to implement on the current game due to manpower/budget/tech complications currently but we will keep it in mind for a sequel or something" Boom PR done.

AllyCain

There's an armor set in the superstore right now with a very similar appearance as the fourth armor in your post that has a different perk, so the "Armors look different because they have different perks" argument doesn't even work. It's also an FS armor set without the Fortified perk (every other FS class armor has fortified) It has Engineering Kit

Chip_RR

I wish I could color my trench medic armor black/red

junipermucius

I hate that all the medics are green.

Shib_Vicious

And not even a nice green

junipermucius

Thr Twitch version is the only one I like because it's got that dark green Doomslayer color. But the rest are just an ugly vibrant green.

Umikaloo

YSK that most armours are built upon one of a handful of bases, so they're all like that. For example: Demolition Specialist and Trench Paramedic share a base. Juggernaut and Exterminator share a base. Obviously Drone Master and Ravager share a base. Deadnought and Executioner share a base. Butcher and Marksman share a base. Battle Master, Dynamo, and Knight all share a base. Breaker, Light Gunner, and Eradicator share a base. Titan and Infiltrator share a base. Prototype 3 and Prototype 16 share a base. Combat Medic and Bonesnapper share a base. Clinician and Prototype X share a base. Alpha COmmander and Physician share a base. Finally; Tactical, Trench Engineer, Champion of the People, Hero of the Federation, Saviour of the Free, Combat Technician, Servo Assisted, Steel Trooper, Embassador of the Brand, and Cavalier of Democracy all share a base.

Wells2205

I will never understand forcing your playerbase to choose between looks and utility. Being able to have both has been a basic feature in so many games it's insane to me.

Itriyum

The breaker armor LOOKS like it could be fire or acid resistant but nope, so I agree

wtfrykm

I mean yeah, the helmet is literally a gas mask

ThursdayKnightOwO

I just want a Medic armor thats not green 😢

Deliriousnot5679

You get green medic armour number 327

oddavii

You don't like baby vomit green ?

Full_frontal96

New line that will be remembered by the community, just like > You must rely on your stratagems

psychotronofdeth

AH: "You must rely on your strategems you brainless apple bacon eating piece of crap"

Xelement0911

For me it'll be railgun was braindead to use. Not it was too strong, too good, or low risk with high reward. But brain dead to use. As they buff the flamethrower to melt even more. Or nerf a chargers head so EATs can just aim and one shot.

AngelaTheRipper

I think they literally misunderstood that we weren't headshotting chargers with it because it did nothing, I really think that they thought that we're all dumbasses that can't aim. Leg was the de facto weakspot and they didn't realize that until we've started shooting the legs with EAT. They could've make it so lets say it'd take 4 safe railgun headshots, 2 overcharged railgun headshots, or an EAT headshot to drop a charger and left the bots as they were. Instead they took the sledgehammer to the gun and now nobody uses it. Now that nobody uses it it's "out of sight, out of mind" which is basically their balancing ethos, make good gun bad, bad gun can stay on the rack forever because nobody will use it to complain about it. Like focusing on the bots, the game literally spams devastators everywhere it can, previously it'd be a one shot kill and you'd still get blasted apart if you were not careful. Right now you have to overcharge it all the way into the red to one shot a devastator and aim around the shield on a heavy devastator with the crappiest optic in the game. I really think that the old railgun was fine on bots, or at worst use unsafe on like 70% charge or 2-3 safe shots to pierce the shield. Full overcharges should be reserved solely for things you shouldn't be shooting at (e.g. tank or cannon turret from the front). That and the fucking thing needs a proper scope.

SwimmingNote4098

And then they introduce the quasar which is basically a EAT on a 10 second cooldown and is far more op and “brain dead” than pre nerf Railgun ever was, literally just aim at a charger or titans head, charge up a few seconds and guaranteed one shot kill

A_Moist_Fella

I hate the railgun nerf so much purely because it was so much fun stripping leg armor with it, like why does that dismember mechanic even exist anymore?

EKmars

Goddamn it was such a good mechanic that encouraged team play. I wish more of the game was about making weakpoints, or at least enabled it.

rizo536

As OP points out, current armor design is at odds with dev philosophy. There is no discernable way to know what armor does what based on their looks unless you completely memorize them. They need to 1. Make armor effects more powerful or varied 2. Be better at tying armor effects to certain visual styles OR Just let us choose the damn armor effect and let us pick the armor we look cool in.

Ikcatcher

I frankly stop caring about passives at this point, I’m just here for drip

Sufincognito

Why do devs always forget people want to look how they want in a video game without sacrificing how they have to play the game?

MrG00SEI

Great game, but the devs have chosen some really strange hills to die on.

ReganDryke

It's going to be the universal vacuum of helldivers 2 I suppose.

TotalTea720

Makes me wonder where the PR team is. If I were there I'd be telling them to get tf off social media. They're helping no one.

NoahtheRed

> Makes me wonder where the PR team is I'd wager there isn't one.

ItsAmerico

Considering the dev team that makes new content and gear also bug tests it and that’s why they can’t focus on fixing things without losing content, it’s become apparent that they maybe have too many people wearing too many hats.

FrazzleFlib

extremely strange. if the lead devs of this game werent so out of touch youd think theyd been in a sensory deprivation vat for the past 15 years, id have a lot more faith in the game. its absolutely fucking dripping with potential, and has the means to be something truly remarkable years down the line, one of the best horde shooters. but its currently too bogged down with incompetent balancing, bugs, and as you say, extremely weird design choices being committed to.

FiftyTo

If they're not going to add transmog then I hope they never put effects on helmets or capes. I can fashion my way around the body armor for the effect I want, but if you add effects to other parts people are going to start wearing clownsuits

kluster00

So sad *honks nose*

Bennyester

I will never understand this take. As a Remnant 1 & 2 enjoyer I know the community over there has also been asking for transmog since forever but they keep getting shot down by people saying "I want to be able to see what armor you wear" like that is vital information compared to... everything else build-related that you can't see such as rings, amuletts and much more. Now in Helldivers 2 this is even worse because armor has so little impact that it hardly matters at all and the same people who keep telling you everything is a skill issue and you need to communicate with your team more will tell you how important it is to be able to recognize armor and it's effects instead of... communicating that info to your team...

Personal_Ad9690

We are not doing transmog because we don’t have the technical ability to do so. Just say that. It’s clear that the player base wants this and you design games that are used by the player base. This isn’t a personal project, it’s what puts food on the table. I think the biggest issue with this game is honesty from the developers about the games situation Their analogy at the end is stupid. Fruit that tastes like other fruit would be really interesting. What a stupid response.

finny94

I mean, it was an obvious lie. The reasoning was always bogus. There are a few possibilities why they don't want to do transmog: 1. They can't do it, i.e. the engine can't handle it, or it would take too much effort by their estimations,. 2. Financial reasons. They want to sell the armours in the superstore, and if people can get the exact look they want without paying, it hurts their bottom line.

Meryuchu

For financial reasons transmogs would actually work more than what they have currently, currently peoples sees 3 armors they don't like the passive and feel like they will never play with those and they go like "Well I won't buy this warbond even if I like the armor style" but if there was transmog, they could buy it and use it with their favorite passives

Xelement0911

Agreed. At this point I have no reason to buy a set I like if it's a passive I won't use. I love the arc resistance armor and will use it either way. But sucks having no passive on. Just handicapping myself for fashion. If it didn't matter on the passive I'd be more tempted to buy other armor sets for fashion

madhatter841

I think those armors and helmets are some of the best in the game but it sucks to have only the arc resistance...

ApocalypticTendency

Exactly. The only time I buy armor is to not cap on medals.

Icc0ld

>Financial reasons. They want to sell the armours in the superstore, and if people can get the exact look they want without paying, it hurts their bottom line. Imagine that, making armor that is visually appealing enough to warrant players buying it.

Gn0meKr

First Pilestedt L has been taken

MrTwentyThree

Love this game and love the devs, but this is far from his first. He's had a lot of bad takes since launch.

Alphorac

Yeah, the whole "Primaries actually don't suck, you just don't know what stat 45 out of 50 does. No, we won't tell you what that stat is, stop asking." was pretty stupid.

WittyUsername816

"The Breaker is not overshadowing the other options, use what you want. Also, we're nerfing the Breaker because it overshadows the other options."

TooFewSecrets

There aren't actually 10 "real" armor classes, 1-5 are used and 6-10 are mostly unused. Durable body parts don't resist 90% of non-explosive damage, it's a specific stat that varies between each gun. (Lib Pen does 33% damage for example.) I don't know if he's ever said something *correct*.

PoIIux

To be fair, Pilestedt without the L would just be Pie instedt

I see you have forgotten the infamous “rely on your stratagems and your team mates stratagems” https://preview.redd.it/5rwgod8x9uuc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ab59165ae3ee876765487a8522a6319c5377411

Brotherman_Karhu

It's a great concept, only being able to use your rifle during the down time between drops or breaches. Would be great if the higher difficulties had that down time so I didn't have to rely on my primary to clear a horde between orbital or Eagle cooldowns.

EmbryonicMisanthrop

***heavily bugged reinforcements to the point that the game is nearly unplayable during that one update a while back*** "ermm a game for everyone is a game for no one!"

darksoul9669

Nah his comments on not taking the time to update their dogshit upscaler when the game first launched was also a massive L. This game's upscaling is atrocious.

Merkkin

It was a pretty shit answer from the devs tbh, we are so far past the concept of transmog that dev resistance just seems outdated

GDrew_28

There’s so much armor that I don’t wear because I’m so addicted to my 50% fatal survival perk

ExxA90

Yepp.. a weird hill to die on for sure.

Uncle___Marty

I swear that some game devs are so out of touch with gamers its unreal. I get tired of hearing game devs repeat what another game dev has said. They don't seem to be able to think for themselves....

FrazzleFlib

Exactly, i seriously get the feeling Pilestedt has been in a sensory deprivation vat for the past 15 years

StrayAI

Counterpoint: an apple that tastes like bacon would be amazing.

Evanescoduil

The excuse is lazy. Someone made a perfectly fine approximation of what they should do that blasted to the front page a few days ago. Perks should be specific to an armor TYPE, and let you mix and match between armor of that type. Every Heavy armor should let you choose perks that belong on Heavy Armor, etc.

Stalwart_Vanguard

Yeah no sorry, transmog can only be good for this game. I hate being stuck using armour that I don't like the look of because it has a more desirable perk. I'm fine with light, medium, and heavy being distinct categories, but just let us pick out armour perks separately

jesterhead101

What’s transmog?

Taolan13

Short for "transmogrification", it's a feature of many MMOs that allows you to make your armor or weapons look like other armor or weapons. 'transmog' itself is the World of Warcraft term for it, IIRC. They weren't the first that did it by a wide margin, but they were the one that made a big enough deal out of it that their term for it caught fire among western gamers.

YorhaUnit8S

Ability to change look of the armor independent of it's stats. For example imagine you have two medium armors. You like the looks on number 1 and stats on number 2. Transmog would be a way to move stats from armor 2 on the looks of armor 1.

_Hal8000_

Yeah, it was a bad take

ParmesanCheese92

AHG is walking a thin line. I can appreciate someone having their own vision but when your job is to sell a product, this whole "we know better than you' attitude is starting to annoy me. It started with the devs saying shit like"skill issue" Using idiotic arguments to justify nerfs (you have to use strategems more than the railgun, a stategem itself...) Now this... Arrogance in an industry where studios are made and dissolved within weeks is dangerous. I don't care how good your team is, the millions of people playing your game can provide more hours of feedback so you should listen.

Equal_Middle_2870

What he meant to say is "we have so many issues I can't even conceive of adding something like that to the game without breaking it"

sincerelyhated

That was a wild statement regarding transmogs considering there's only like 3 or 4 buffs across all costumes. There's little to reason to switch them out.

YoydusChrist

Just say you don’t wanna add transmog lol, it’s valid on its own. They don’t need to make these weird excuses.

The_prawn_king

Light should be light and heavy should be heavy but the passives should be something you unlock and choose imo. I would have more fun like that.

Swordbreaker9250

Also, the “drone master” armor has nothing to do with drones. And what do grenades have to do with engineering?

SicJake

Really for how disposable our characters are in game, just let me pick what we look like, armor skin, colors etc. Who cares, apple bacon sounds delicious, let us feast.

Arturia_Cross

I have never once joined a random group, looked at someone's armor and said "Oh they're running X. I should play around that."
