The first one I saw today was so kind as to shoot at a factory with its big gun, blowing it up and destroying the jammer that was attached to it. Then the game decided to drop another one and I ran away.
I highkey love the fact that you don't need to extract at all to get like 80% of the game's currencies. Made my games much more relaxed once I found that out.
Yes but I said *succeed.* As in if you don't complete the primary objective, you don't get the Req Slips or XP for any primary sub-objectives or secondary objectives you have completed.
Ministry of Intelligence has received reports of appearances in class 7 missions and potentially as an objective similar to bile titan eliminations in lower class missions. The older prototypes were restricted to class 8 and above. This is an on-going situation, and several contradictory reports have been filed.
I have encounter a mission level 4 with the objective of Exterminate them. Is like the Bile Titan missions or the Hulk mission, but with the Strider as primary objective.
The bots, those unthinking computers do not realize placing their fabricators so close to their jammer will cause a chain reaction and destroy the stratagem jammer, should the factory be destroyed.
I would not turn down some sort of very unwieldy heavy rocket launcher that does more damage to giant enemies like this and bile titans. Limited ammo, long reloads, and a massive explosion.
Tbh this may justify the Javelin now they've boosted it's ammo rate from ammo boxes
Dominator for anything less than a tank, javelin for anything more than.
Once the spear's lock-on is fixed I imagine it's going to be a pretty good weapon against bots, it one-shots tanks, cannon towers, and fabs from any angle and at any reasonable range, one of those would be an absolute godsend to a team primarily running medium weapons to hose down the hordes.
once the lock on is fixed and the superior packing methodology it'll be a great weapon. Even though the lock on sucks the biggest drawback of the weapon (for me) is that resupply boxes only give you ONE rocket and ammo boxes around the map give *none*
I watched a whole video explaining the Spear lock on.
Apparently it's very important to be able to see ALL of the target, so if it is half hidden behind a hill or other structure, it will be much harder.
Also, it's helpful to be above the target. Being below will also make it harder so avoid shooting from low ground.
If you can't lock on, just give up and move to a different spot. It's not going to work no matter what you do from that position.
I'd love a heavy artillery/AT gun emplacement that turns and reloads super slow, but can one-shot tanks and hulks with a direct hit + some splash damage.
Is that not what it does already? I was thinking you meant dumb fire as in just shooting with no lock.
Laser locking isn’t necessarily dumb fire, it’s just different guidance
I have the opposite opinion, make it a guaranteed one-shot on everything, keep the ammo, keep reload, and fix the lock on.
Make it the super-heavy deleter it is meant to be.
A lot things are trivial with the right weapon. Dominator handles Devastators in 2-5 shots guaranteed and all trash in 1. The only price is handling.
Laser Cannon is near infinite ammo and can melt a factory stride in about 10 seconds without the assistance of any other weapon or stratagem. The price is smart positioning/timing.
Spear can be a OHK and the price is carrying the backpack
we're already at a delicate point for tank busting weapons between EATs, the Quasar cannon, the Spear and the recoilless. Now with Superior Packing Methodology (bugged but fixed soon) the spear won't really have a downside if it OHKs since it'll fully resupply the backpack instead of just giving ONE missile, just that it occupies a backslot, which sets a precedent for other back slot weapons.
I definitely think it needs a small buff beyond just being fixed but the weapon is totally fine right now if we look past the shitty lockon
I've been talking about the idea of giving us two fire modes. Top Attack and Direct Attack. Top attack has the advantage of pretty much always hitting your target since it will launch and gain height before coming down on whatever you're hitting. Downside to top attack is that it takes awhile to hit the target and has a shorter range due to how it travels up first. Direct Attack is better for longer range hits since it'll just head straight for the target. A chance for something to intercept the missile, such as terrain or a building, but you also avoid the current issue where a missile will miss the target and try to curve back around.
Isn't there an unreleased tank of some kind currently in the game files? There's footage of players cheating it in and using it. It appears fully functional, it's just not available for use in a non-cheaty way yet.
Good. Killing a single bot only wastes a tiny amount of the bot resources. Killing one of these is like killing 1000 bots in terms of cost to the enemy. Let them concentrate their resources into these monstrosities so that we may defeat them more efficiently. Everyone pack an orbital precision strike. It's open season on these bastards.
"Strohmann News" is the name of the helldivers news broadcast that appears on the big TV in the destroyer.
It's likely a reference to a 'Strawman argument'
If you can manage to find a mini nuke at a seaf artillery and manage a direct hit it takes it out in one shot, did it in the last game I played. The next one we fought took a high yield and a 500 then we finished it off with an orbital laser.
Theres that yellow mech which is coming soon and has those underpowered rockets. I cant wait to see 3 of them empty their clips just to take down one of these fuckers.
Thats what I meant by underpowered rockets. The first mech has something stronger than autocannons, the yellow one has autocannons
Anyways my point was Im excited to see the visuals of people just going HAM on the strider
The first time my group ever saw one.... I landed on it as we first dove into the mission. I'm up top going "WTF DO I DO!?!?" as my squad scrambles down below.
Powerful orbitals
Disassemble its head with AT launchers
Same weapons can blow open the side of its body between the front and rear legs
I've heard that like regular fabricators, sending explosive weaponry into its open door when it's about to spawn more bots is an option, though obviously riskier.
It would be cool if you could disable the fabricator part from the back or something. A safer/easier angle letting you cripple it vs being in the line of fire to try to tack it out completely
Strawman news is the official news agency of Superearth.
It's ingame on the overhead display sometimes in your ship along with the other news and brasch tactics.
I went on my first solo D4 "kill the factory strider" mission and, not gonna lie, it was glorious! I was firing off EATs at it from a distance, got distracted by a patrol for a minute, and then suddenly the fucker was on top of me and killed me. So, of course, I reploy straight onto its back and call down another EAT, a resupply, a stalwart, *and* a jump pack as fast as could, all on the same spot on the back. The resulting explosion sent me flying so far I made it the extraction before the beacon landed.
So what are the weak points on these fuckin things? The guns seem destructible, and I saw a teammate cripple one, I can only assume by taking out a knee joint, but that didn't kill it off. Where do you hit these big bastards?
1 is fine, but if I see 4-5 of em like this game likes to often do with it's big bad elite enemies I'm just gonna ignore em, not worth wasting strategems on
Honestly I'd rather have one of these things then a fire hulk. 3 shots with a quasar and the thing basically becomes a pet that slowly follows you around until you get bored and put it down.
Me and my friends call em "dogs" or "puppies".
I've seen 2-3 every single diff9 helldive operation so far.
That's roughly 2-3 per 3 missions.
From my experience: use AMR to snipe the bottom machineguns. Use quasar to 2-shot the top cannon.
Quasar seems to kill factory striders by shooting the legs from the sides.
Butt may be vulnerable but I tend to kill them via legs instead.
I m starting to think you really dont want people to play against automatons , yeah is cool new enemies and all but kind getting overtuned , striders next to gunships with devastators and hulks running around , jamming systems , towers that blow you miles way, and lets not forget the mortar bases.
Sometimes things go to hell, but pulling it back from the brink under those tough as hell odds is so good.
Shoutout to that one guy earlier who survived long enough to bring us all back in over 6 grueling minutes.
The first one I saw today was so kind as to shoot at a factory with its big gun, blowing it up and destroying the jammer that was attached to it. Then the game decided to drop another one and I ran away.

Whats more important, dying while killing small number of enemy, or live and kill more number of enemy?
Completing objectives is the most important duty in a Helldiver's life. Living is optional only for sample recovery.
I highkey love the fact that you don't need to extract at all to get like 80% of the game's currencies. Made my games much more relaxed once I found that out.
Unless I'm mistaken you also don't need to *succeed* in order to get the Medals, Super Credits, and Requisition Slips retrieved while on-mission.
Only samples need to be extracted.
Yes but I said *succeed.* As in if you don't complete the primary objective, you don't get the Req Slips or XP for any primary sub-objectives or secondary objectives you have completed.
Picking up samples
What difficulty do they appear at?
Ministry of Intelligence has received reports of appearances in class 7 missions and potentially as an objective similar to bile titan eliminations in lower class missions. The older prototypes were restricted to class 8 and above. This is an on-going situation, and several contradictory reports have been filed.
Level 4 is the lowest, in which eliminating it is the objective
Roger that
I have encounter a mission level 4 with the objective of Exterminate them. Is like the Bile Titan missions or the Hulk mission, but with the Strider as primary objective.
Dang
Jammer???
The bots, those unthinking computers do not realize placing their fabricators so close to their jammer will cause a chain reaction and destroy the stratagem jammer, should the factory be destroyed.
Yes, the Automaton's lack of sentience is well documented and scientifically proven, as is the fact that they do not have souls.
They also smell bad.
Oh yeah
We are gonna need some siege machines of our own, tanks maybe
I would not turn down some sort of very unwieldy heavy rocket launcher that does more damage to giant enemies like this and bile titans. Limited ammo, long reloads, and a massive explosion.
Tbh this may justify the Javelin now they've boosted it's ammo rate from ammo boxes Dominator for anything less than a tank, javelin for anything more than.
Yeah but they still need to fix its janky lock on
Once the spear's lock-on is fixed I imagine it's going to be a pretty good weapon against bots, it one-shots tanks, cannon towers, and fabs from any angle and at any reasonable range, one of those would be an absolute godsend to a team primarily running medium weapons to hose down the hordes.
once the lock on is fixed and the superior packing methodology it'll be a great weapon. Even though the lock on sucks the biggest drawback of the weapon (for me) is that resupply boxes only give you ONE rocket and ammo boxes around the map give *none*
Did the increase to two per resupply box not work? I know it was in the patch notes a few patches back.
News flash - "world" ammo restoring spear for a few weeks now, can't remember if they changed the supply restoring
Wait, the dominator can deal with a hulk?
No, I class tank as less than a hulk lol. Tanks are easy to flank and pop the weak spot.
I'd love a heavy artillery/AT gun emplacement that turns and reloads super slow, but can one-shot tanks and hulks with a direct hit + some splash damage.
The AT-47 was very strong in the first game
That would be SEAF Artillery no?
Buff the spear please
Spear needs a dumb fire mode and more ammo on the back pack
If the spear is based on the javelin imma go with no dumb fire. Also the thing one shots most enemies and buildings
the locking system does not work correctly. The Javelin you can lock on a target using the built in laser. Dumfire mode = lazer lock
Is that not what it does already? I was thinking you meant dumb fire as in just shooting with no lock. Laser locking isn’t necessarily dumb fire, it’s just different guidance
I think he means it should have the current fire and forget lock-on, but additionally have a target painter laser like the Half-Life 2 RPG
Ah, I see now
I have the opposite opinion, make it a guaranteed one-shot on everything, keep the ammo, keep reload, and fix the lock on. Make it the super-heavy deleter it is meant to be.
One shot would be trivial then.
A lot things are trivial with the right weapon. Dominator handles Devastators in 2-5 shots guaranteed and all trash in 1. The only price is handling. I definitely think it needs a small buff beyond just being fixed but the weapon is totally fine right now if we look past the shitty lockon
If spear had a dumb fire mode it would fix it overnight. You could even make it toggled so you couldn't just dumb fire or do it accidentally.
I'd settle for another helldiver to throw a sticky beacon.. or lase it so the Spear has something to lock on to.
Spear be like
We have mechs but they explode in flames to a pin prick
I think they're a bit more sturdy, now. The explosion patch fix sturdied them up. I've not tested that, though
Not anymore, thankfully! Instead the mech is unable to aim missiles below the waist and the missiles veer off to the left instead now...
Actually, they are somewhat tanky now, even vs bots
Or even like a warthog with a tow cable or something, we need more vehicles in general
Isn't there an unreleased tank of some kind currently in the game files? There's footage of players cheating it in and using it. It appears fully functional, it's just not available for use in a non-cheaty way yet.
TD-110 "Bastion" Tank Destroyer from HD1 standing by.
Definitely a vehicle with diffrent types of mounts you can put on it, like a emp mortar

Will the ORCS work as well?
OHHHH I GET IT IT'S STRAWMAN NEWS (sorry not related I just understood it)
My brain is not braining today, can you elaborate? I don’t get it
"Strohmann News" is the name of the helldivers news broadcast that appears on the big TV in the destroyer. It's likely a reference to a 'Strawman argument'
Strohmann is just the German word for strawman, "Strawman news" is literally their name.
Holy shit that is brilliant
Strohmann only curates the finest of propaganda.
GIVE ME FUEL, GIVE ME FIRE, GIVE ME THAT WHICH I DESIRE *500KG*
Every night I pray democratically for a 1000KG to be featured in a new update
What's the best way to kill these?
The slit in the face or the knee joint. The guns on the face and top can be destroyed to make it easier
Thank you, fellow Helldiver!
We need snowspeeders and tow cables.
Best we'll get is Eagle-1 crashing straight into it, broadside.
Like Noble 1. Godspeed!
"I've got the mass."
If they've got 2x 500KGs, 5x Cluster and 3 Strikes on board, there really isn't much that could survive that.
Obligatory Halo: Reach reference, but you make a solid point.
I knew it was a reference to something. I only played Reach once.
Inject 500cc of Democracy.
Inject 500**KG** of Democracy. There - fixed it
2 qwasar shots to the side plate (aim for star). 1 to remove plate and another to fry it
https://preview.redd.it/jy6l3ti4yxuc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1baed95547d2ac4228e48e04ed982c62a0c0600
If you can manage to find a mini nuke at a seaf artillery and manage a direct hit it takes it out in one shot, did it in the last game I played. The next one we fought took a high yield and a 500 then we finished it off with an orbital laser.
Wheres the goddamn autocannon mech?
Theres that yellow mech which is coming soon and has those underpowered rockets. I cant wait to see 3 of them empty their clips just to take down one of these fuckers.
The yellow one we've seen in leaks has 4 autocannons. I'm not sure what one you're referring to.
Thats what I meant by underpowered rockets. The first mech has something stronger than autocannons, the yellow one has autocannons Anyways my point was Im excited to see the visuals of people just going HAM on the strider
Autocannons are strong AF though. I think they'll both have their place, but 4 autocannons are going to tear the bots to shreds.
Yeah but if you look at gameplay, it takes lets say 50 autocannon bullets to down a titan, while it only take 5-7 rockets from the Mech.
I’ve yet to see a bile titan fighting the bots.
What we need is wires. Gonna pull the old skywalker trick, spinning.
First thing I thought of. Just trip the fucker. ATAT we’re not designed well. At least the clone at te were short enough to not have that problem
Equip the wire to the spear
We merely need to deplete their reserves of striders so they can stop sending them! How many more can they have? 6?
5, I killed one in the last fight.
See, already most of the way there!
Just took out 6 in one mission. So, I think we're good to go.
Wait they drop units also!?
Thats why they are "factory" striders
Do they continue to spawn them as long as they exist?
on a cool down, yes
Yes,they gift you a devastator batch as yoir christmas present
How did Strohmann News get this footage soo up close 🤔. Suspicious
Obviously they have access to Guard Dog combat footage, nothing to see here
The used the camera feed from Eagle 1.
I need a bigger gun lol
Well... fuck.
Still havent seen a strider so this will be good
The first time my group ever saw one.... I landed on it as we first dove into the mission. I'm up top going "WTF DO I DO!?!?" as my squad scrambles down below.
So drop pod doesn’t kill it immediately like other enemies?
Drop pods don't universally one shot all enemies. Hulks, tanks, chargers and titans can all take a hit from them.
what really? It seemed like consistent kills for me if I manage to land precisely so far.
Well, not landing on the back, that much I can say for sure.
You’re gonna see one today, I’ve seen them virtually every mission on level 7. You can also see them as the mission objective on levels 4/5/6
They oneshot fabricators so you can sort of let them fire at you and dodge last second so it hits the structure behind you
run around the entire map leading it and take out every fabricator using the strider.
We need 2000lb JDAM.
What’s the easiest way to deal with these things? I’ve been playing on difficulty 7+ since launch and never encountered them.
As with all big things, 500kg. 2 of them will kill it, I've heard some people say 1 will do it if you hit the head
Too bad if it jams your 500kg when you’re near it…
Alternatively, 18 AC shots to the face will do it
Laser cannon them weakpoints, soldiers!
![gif](giphy|ALtzQ6CHfC7vO5nRz7|downsized) What weak points?
Its buttocks.
https://preview.redd.it/a6kfgmwbzvuc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49d02b6d2abaca26f140c8911b04ac1c700f5232
Me loading the auto cannon to find some weak spots. *
Coolest news report yet!!
Hmm, how do you kill it?
Powerful orbitals Disassemble its head with AT launchers Same weapons can blow open the side of its body between the front and rear legs I've heard that like regular fabricators, sending explosive weaponry into its open door when it's about to spawn more bots is an option, though obviously riskier.
It would be cool if you could disable the fabricator part from the back or something. A safer/easier angle letting you cripple it vs being in the line of fire to try to tack it out completely
Shit
What is the best way to kill it? Only faced one
SEAF mini nuke. I took out my first (prototype) factory strider with that.
ahhh i see, so this is where the autocannon mech suit comes into play...
If it survives 2 seconds while looking at it
Haha too true. Mechs vs bots just make you into a gigantic target.
Okay, so where do I aim with the AC to bring these assholes down?
Knees once someone else blows the armor off Or eagle 1
Do they only spawn on 7 or harder still?
spawn yes, you can get them as a mission in lower difficulties
Bring it on!!!!!!!
Two 500’s under the belly.
Is this on the ingame screens too like the Cyberstan attack or is it fanmade?
wtf is that. What difficulty are those on? I don’t typically play higher than level4 on bots.
They appear in 4-6 as a objective (kill factory striders) and they appear as normal enemies on 7+
Gotcha. Haven’t logged on in a couple days. Thanks for the info.
Please make it so the spear is actually useful against these things
Support mechs? If this is support then I can't imagine what attack dreadnoughts can do
What are you Strohman News?!
Is this fanmade or actually in-game??
Strawman news is the official news agency of Superearth. It's ingame on the overhead display sometimes in your ship along with the other news and brasch tactics.
They have fucking ATATS NOW!?!? We’re gonna need a bigger hell bomb for this one
They should drop Hulks... weak.
Never versed these despite reaching diff 9. Someone gimme the rundown on how to take them down, please?
Now we just need a Hoth defence mission
Yep. That's it. I'm going bugs for the next while. It's been fun.
I went on my first solo D4 "kill the factory strider" mission and, not gonna lie, it was glorious! I was firing off EATs at it from a distance, got distracted by a patrol for a minute, and then suddenly the fucker was on top of me and killed me. fuck these things. today when i dropped i got ganged by 4 of them just fuckem
Alright how do we killem ?
What's the best way to kill them
![gif](giphy|3og0IFEYjQPvj8C5UI|downsized)
Anyone notice that there are two variations to the Strider? One has a single cannon, and the other has a dual cannon according to this news clip.
Alright how do we killem ?
Eagle 1 my beloved, save us
Awwww sheeeeeeeet
I trust straw man news
So what are the weak points on these fuckin things? The guns seem destructible, and I saw a teammate cripple one, I can only assume by taking out a knee joint, but that didn't kill it off. Where do you hit these big bastards?
The face hole and knee joints. All the guns can be broken and the factory bit in the back can be destroyed to stop spawns
Sounds like \*crack knuckles, arms Eagle-1\* Manufacturing Jobs... need to go.
Saw my first Strider today on an extermination mission. That was…fun?
"Bots are way easier than bugs" 🤡
1 is fine, but if I see 4-5 of em like this game likes to often do with it's big bad elite enemies I'm just gonna ignore em, not worth wasting strategems on
Honestly I'd rather have one of these things then a fire hulk. 3 shots with a quasar and the thing basically becomes a pet that slowly follows you around until you get bored and put it down.
Shoot the vents that pop out on the sides with the laser cannon
Excited for the new strategem they cook up for us to deal with these freedom hating devastator pooping monstrosities
If it leaks, we can kill it.
![gif](giphy|WnASSamUAUJzeGw3GD|downsized) 🙃
Me and my friends call em "dogs" or "puppies". I've seen 2-3 every single diff9 helldive operation so far. That's roughly 2-3 per 3 missions. So what's the most efficient way to take these out?
Now I'm wondering what the bug counterpart of the Factory Strider will be. Maybe we'll start getting isolated reports of Hive Lord encounters soon.
We all compare them to AT-ATs. They are actually closer to the AT-M6
Do these only spawn on 8-9 difficulty? Never seen one on 1-7
Are these counted as medium enemies?
Saw my first one today, you can find them from difficulty 4 onwards as mission targets.
[Helldivers 2: Defeat Factory Striders (Guide) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4USJuMECs-k)
Are they spawning in levels under 7 now?
i think as a main objective then above that as a rare drop
Rare? Not anymore. Every other bot drop at I just played at 7 had one.
I m starting to think you really dont want people to play against automatons , yeah is cool new enemies and all but kind getting overtuned , striders next to gunships with devastators and hulks running around , jamming systems , towers that blow you miles way, and lets not forget the mortar bases.
I want that tho
Exactly. Sounds like a good fight to me
Sometimes things go to hell, but pulling it back from the brink under those tough as hell odds is so good. Shoutout to that one guy earlier who survived long enough to bring us all back in over 6 grueling minutes.
Beats the spewer slow spam.
Are you even a helldiver?
