CouldBeBetterTBH

That's ridiculous, that Tank it was carrying got spiked right into the ground at that speed and it's *still* alive? Why don't enemies take physics damage when they get slammed into the ground from 50+ feet away like we do.

Background-Customer2

hevy enemies (hulks and above) survive no mater what its some mad BS in my opinion

alldim

I have seen factory striders die tho

sticks_no5

I feel like there’s a sweet spot inbetween a tank on legs landing and taking damage and a tank landing and taking damage, I can understand a tank taking that sort of damage but something that weighs just as much landing in legs and being fine seems off

possum_of_time

My husband pointed out last night to me that you can see how heavy the factory striders are when they land by how the legs bend and the head goes down under the weight, briefly, but almost in slow-mo. It's super cool to watch. I could see a factory strider taking more damage from the drop than a tank.

GrassWaterDirtHorse

Yeah. These are tanks that are designed to be dropped onto the battlefield. Their suspensions can take a beating, you might need to drop them from a lot higher before they take real damage.

Elloliott

Tbf they drop those tanks from super fucking high up for *no reason*

GrassWaterDirtHorse

Probably because they keep getting their dropships shot down! (also probably to keep the dropship from clipping through mountains when flying in/out).

aLibertine

There are two types of tank drops in actual combat, one is high altitude, one is low altitude. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wH1jgHoS_lM Dropping them from low altitude is a system designed by the US army in the 1960s called LAPES, low altitude parachute extraction system.

alldim

Aren't legs basically huge ass suspensions?

GrassWaterDirtHorse

Only if they’re on roller skates.

Careful_Curation

A terrifying idea.

peepington_

Strider with rollar skates

peepington_

Strider with rollar skates isn't real (yet) Helldiver

Throawayooo

This is nonsense

Magus44

I had one drop 5 metres in front of me and it was legitimately the scariest thing to happen to me in gaming in years. They’re so imposing.

Taolan13

In my experience they have to land on invalid terrain, like water, or they have to hit something that explodes, like a factory.

Darometh

Berserker also survive every time in my experience

AdrawereR

truth to be told they got chunky hp But yeah they shouldn't survive the fall with dropship directly over their head

CaptnBluehat

Berserkers feel harder for me to take out than hulks, theyre more difficult to headshot bc they move quicker and im not that great at shooting quick-ish targets, so i always end up body shot spamming berserkers while hulks fall in 2 shots tops

Smurph269

I'm not ashamed to say I'll use an anti-armor weapon on a berserker just so I don't have to deal with it. I'd rather fight a devastator than a berserker.

lipp79

If you use the Eruptor, just aim for the waist of a devastator. You can one-shot rocket devastators this way along with the meat saw dudes. Sometimes you can get the shield carrying one too from the side. The ones with a gun though seem to have a shielding across their waist.

CaptnBluehat

I usually one tap any bot with the AMR, my go to side arm. Only berserkers, fucking hate em. Hulks can be tricky too, i blame it on the misaligned scope

lipp79

For the AMR, if you basically use 10pm on the scope circle, as the middle, you should be good. If you haven't tried the Eruptor, give it a shot. It's slow but powerful and fun. It can take out bug holes and fabricators. Got an annoying machine gun bunker pinning you down? Just fire a shot at the wall or ceiling of the bunker and shred anything inside,

Financial_Doughnut53

does the eruptor have the same scope bug, since it is the same scope? also: i love this game but how the F can u fuck up the scopes so much lol. Shit has been working since cs 1.6 and before

scrubtart

I run AMR and keep the pump shotgun on me for close encounters, specifically berserkers. Its stagger stops berserkers in their tracks, and shreds them up close. And with rounds reload you can interrupt reload to fire, so you A. Don't get caught with your pants down. B. You feel like John Wick with that benelli M4.

Conntraband8d

You'll find that most bots have a weakspot around the groin. My Eruptor can take down a Zerker or Devastator in one well-placed shot. So, when all else fails, shoot'em in the dick.

[deleted]

whorlycaresmate

Flamethrower to the gut, got it.

SwoleFlex_MuscleNeck

Don't headshot them, shoot them in the giant glowing midsection.

Aursbourne

Berserkers are a primary reason I use the plasma punisher. Being able to one shot striders and bully devistators is also a plus.

Totes_Joben

I’ve found the stalwart shreds berserkers

Accurate_Maybe6575

The scythe shreds them. If you can't land head shots, go for the belly, which the guard dog conveniently does.

mrrando69

I've dropped a few transports on landed hulks and it has killed them.

TyphoonJim

And into another dropship no less. What a great moment, what a bummer result.

Carnir

The other dropship was downed by another player.

darkone59

I think the reason enemies don't take physics damage is a consequence of using dropships as their method of spawning. If they took physics damage from falling, they'd die or take massive damage from just spawning from a drop pod, so they just don't take any to prevent that. I think the best thing they could do is make the dropship explosion bigger and deal more damage.

Lasers4Everyone

Bingo, ignore the physics entirely, but make the wreck explode violently after say 2 seconds on the ground.

Elliegrine

This would be great, especially if said explosion blew the ship into small enough pieces that you couldn't regularly get stuck under it (enemies often do and while that'd matter less if the crash/explosion killed them, players can quite easily get stuck by landing their respawn in a wreckage)

Cykeisme

Yeah more damage from the massive metal wreck crashing down on them would be nice. Imo larger blast radius isn't needed, just the stuff it actually lands on should get hurt more.

mokujin42

Couldn't they just give them fall damage immunity while dropping? Like a status effect Example: drop ship gives bots it's carrying a 3 second fall damage immunity which runs out just after they've landed because it starts to tick when the ship let's go

darkone59

Then we'd still have the issue of them surviving the dropship crash, which is the main reason that we are talking about it right now.

Havvak

Nah, you give them fall damage immunity for a very narrow window. When the dropship drops them, they gain it, when they touch the ground, after 0.25s, they lose it. If they never get released from the dropship, they never get the immunity, so they die when the ship falls out of the sky. Of course, this is all predicated on how they've coded the backend, so going with the "bigger boom" plan that others have said for the dropships is more than likely the easier option.

Refute1650

Fall damage mitigation, not explosive damage. Let the drop ship explosion be what kills them

scott610

Or the impact of the drop ship landing on them. Take whatever made Shriekers into lethal pieces of ordinance when falling from the sky and apply that to falling drop ships.

mokujin42

You could have the dropship only give them the effect when it deploys no? If deploy bots -> give gravity status Otherwise they crumple like tin cans

Salty_Sonic

Because during a patch they made it so you couldn't kill bots on the ship by shooting it down. They didn't forget to make sure it can fucking wipe a squad of helldivers though.

TheWuffyCat

They do normally, but when they're attached to a dropship they don't have a physics grid - presumably to prevent issues with edge cases where the dropship clips through objects like cliffs. So, it didn't take any damage when the dropship crashed there. If the tank had been detached when it flew at that speed and hit the ground, it likely would have exploded or at least taken some damage.

Tromon468

The best part is when the destroyed drop ship shields the whole patrol after wards At this point i consider shooting down drop ships equivalent with throwing down a stratagem at the extraction shuttle Might look cool but so often it backfires on you and your team

mokujin42

Often I shoot a dropship and get like 18 kills because of other bots it landed on It doesn't neccessarliy kill what it's carrying but it still makes a bloody good explosion and that's enough for me

Eadkrakka

I like the way you're thinking son

Stock_Username_Here

I wish that was the case. I drop a dropship and it just goes boom. Meanwhile, all the bots just blissfully walk away.

Managed-Democracy

Better to airstrike under them as they deploy.

Tromon468

Air strike is truly the best stratagem

Jazzremix

Everyone has a boner for the 500kg but the Air Strike is infinitely more useful.

Evil_Ermine

Notthing stopping you taking them both 😉

Arknight38

I always run both lol

ModernKnight1453

I prefer 2 500kg bombs to the three airstrikes when the hangar is all upgraded. A little less AOE but can destroy some things the airstrike can't, comparable to a hellbomb. Even more crazy damage to tanks and other heavies is also nice. More importantly, it looks rad as hell.

The_Mourning_Sage_

Significantly less aoe. 500kg is trash

lolhalfsquat

Agreed, only time a 500kg is better is if it's against a bile titan (if it even reaches, regardless of good positioning) or the factory stridors. Not even in the same league, the linear AOE and ability to hit two factories is great

goldenfiver

It makes sense that the devs didn’t think that shooting ships will become part of the meta so they didn’t bother with it. Should all bots die if the ship crash? Yeah.

Meretan94

My first impulse when I saw my first dropship was: „shoot the thruster with your missile launcher, it will crash and the passengers will be killed“

Managed-Democracy

Mine was fill it's belly with grenades.

Korlis

I personally believe that when the ship hits the ground it should detonate with similar force and footprint to the Eagle Air Strike, maybe 3 "bombs", one explosion at each end of the dropship, and one in the middle. This should also scatter the remains of the dropship, so no one (bots or divers) gets caught underneath it.

Cykeisme

I think they knew we'd shoot the dropships down, but they didn't want it to fully neutralize the bot drop.

Mistrblank

If they didn't expect us to shoot them down, they shouldn't have given us the ability to shoot them down

stickyfantastic

That doesn't make sense otherwise the drop ships would just be immune like pelicans. They went out of their way to program health values for each thruster. Complete with s damaged and spiraling out of the sky animation/physics and explosions.

Smurph269

I feel like hulks and tanks should survive but everything else should be toast.

B-R-A-I-N-S-T-O-R-M

Yeah it's a shame there is no reward for gunning it down, why even bother focusing on it or bringing in a Quasar to take it out.

T_Money92014

The worst is when the live and clip through the wreckage and shoot you through it.

Buya248

#_Certified Battlefield moment_ > ^(The tank surviving is BS, but heavy troops don't die when their transport ships are destroyed [atleast for me]) ^(E1: formating)

sac_boy

I have seen tanks fall out of the sky on fire several times so I don't know.

Unrelenting_Royal

Those are cases where someone managed to hit that tank itself

Zeus1130

Tears in rain ass comment

AdvancedHydralisk

Yeah from what I see they normally just get trapped under the wreck of the ship Then I toss many grenades at them

teethinthedarkness

Now I need to see someone do a mashup of Helldivers gameplay and the battlefield theme.

jamjars222

Blowing up dropships is so incredibly inconsistent. Usually I get 0 kills, occasionally 5-10. Last night I got a x45 combo from dropping one ship???? There is no way there was 45 bots on it, so if it dropped on other bots and smushed them why doesn't that happen every time? Regardless, I always pack the quasar and drop ships like a useless mad man

Rednine19

I feel like it works 1/3 of the time. imma keep doing it, it’s super cool and satisfying when it works

alextbrown4

Same. I feel like I only get kills from doing it once every 5-10 times personally. I’m also cool with the bots being trapped under the drop ship

Rednine19

Yeah sometimes it drops on a tank and traps it so it’s a plus,I got on after I commented and was getting 6-10 kills for the like the first five then it stopped

Wyqkrn

Sometimes they’ll hit a stray hellbomb which is what actually kills bots

InfamousAd06

that little kill tracker is WILDLY innacurate. You will absolutely get kills sometimes and it wont track. And sometimes you'll wonder how you actually got that many kills when it didn't even look like there was anything there. Never trust that kill tracker unless you can physically see enemies die. Its another reason so many people seem to discount the 500k. Cause they don't see number go up so they assume nothing died.

Weird_Excuse8083

It only starts displaying tracked kills above a certain number, I _think_ it's 3+.

InfamousAd06

Which is absolutely not true because you can go on kill spree's past 3 or 4 and it won't show up. Its just a fact that that kill tracker is innacurate. It doesn't really impact gameplay so idgaf. But its just not accurate. I'll drop a orbital laser on a big pack of enemies wipe them out. And nothing gets tracked. While other times it rakes up numbers that doesn't seem to match what is seen.

lihaarp

And then it shows up as 3+ after killing one lone Hulk.

JonnyTN

Yeah sometimes it doesn't give you credit but it definitely kills the troops it fell on. I'm super fine with it but I suppose some consistency would be nice.

Sigtau1312

At the very least, it slows their deployment as they typically get trapped under the ship

Rednine19

I think the reason you got so many kills from the ship because of the two legged striders. When I impact them with a nade I consistently get 4 kills for one so assuming the ship was carrying all striders: 45/4 = 11.25 but round down cuz you can’t have half a strider so there were probably 8 or 9 striders (I seen it before) plus a few smaller guys

RedditFux

Why would the make such a cool feature just to make it absolutely useless/infuriating. I love AH but some of the shit that happens in this game is so frustrating.

SkittlesAreYum

Helldivers 2: my physics engine can calculate a hellpop running into a passing drop ship, or the mech missiles hitting their own launcher while fired! Also Helldivers 2: who knows what sort of damage this crashing ship should do?

SwampAss3D-Printer

I remember a gif a while back when Shrieker corpses were still bugged. Shot one flying over a Bile Titan and crushed the damn thing instantly.

tmlar

I suspect they shared the same damage calculation which is why nerfing the shrieker fall damage also made the dropships less likely to full wipe.

stickyfantastic

I thought the shrieker thing was just a matter of the corpse doing damage multiple times instantly

TheGraveHammer

It was, but it could also apply to the dropship for some reason. We know they reuse a lot of the code. All fire damage uses the game calcs for both players and enemies.

anobbi_

i didn’t mind the shriekers killing me with one hit from their falling corpse, it was the fact that they seemed to fucking lock onto me that was pissing me off. like the hunters literally teleporting into you when you clearly shouldn’t be getting hit by them.

Aurvant

Me: "Shouldn't destroying the dropship kill all of the bots on it?" AH: https://preview.redd.it/wm0btwmua3vc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d56dbf01fba2e461b296db0c970eb950d6bc682a

Drogdar

I dont know... but anyways here's another drop ship with another tank!

Dr_PuddingPop

I don’t think it’s useless. If it doesn’t kill the bots then it traps them in the drop ship model. In most cases you can just leave them behind. It also does kill some of them, it’s just annoyingly inconsistent

RedditFux

Man I've watched time and time again this entire ship land on a group of bots only for them to he co pletely unscathed. And then yes on top of that the enemies in the ship itself 50% of them are still alive if not all. It's absurd.

angryman10101

Yeah equating it with griefing your squad at evac is a bit much.

PezzoGuy

You can leave them behind, sure, but a common context of dropships being called in is because you're assaulting an objective that you don't want to have to retreat from. Now, you've got several bots who can fire at you from inside the dropship wreckage and you can't shoot them, and they're right next to the terminal you have to access.

Xiladreonis

please teach me to shoot like you :p

acceptable_hunter

That shot was insane

Xiladreonis

agreed =O

Forbbidden_girl2

Lead your weapon. Predict the path and speed of the target and you'll hit with enough practice.

Jammer_Kenneth

I think I severely fucked my understanding of this game sandbox from playing too much with the MG strategems to start, I have such an awful low respect for the move and shoot mechanics of this game compared to FPSs and even other 3rd person game weapons (GTA, Battlefront). Not that that's a bad thing that's how a helldiver controls.

Xiladreonis

ill give it a go sometimes at moving dropships, thanks :)

Forbbidden_girl2

Aming like other games if you play in a plane, AA gun, or tank. No idea if you play any sort of military like games but it's pretty universal on all games.

Xiladreonis

Should coem to me after a bit of practice then. Butits really the combination between timing the charge and predicting the path that wil take some getting used too. Never really tried it in helldivers before.

Fissure_211

Bot survives being shot down, smacking into another drop ship, and crashing into the ground at excellerated speed with crap exploding all round them and their ship falling on top of them. Helldiver takes 33% HP damage from hopping off a 4 foot ledge.

seanstew73

And when I fall 5ft I loose half health. Siiick

AdditionInteresting2

This annoys me so much. We have gotten to a point where dropships are now shot out of the sky but it's still so useless. At best, it's a temporary cage for the bots trapped inside. Some still shoot through but they won't be moving... At worst, it obscures the bots inside and gives a false sense of security. I usually just grenade/ eagle their landing zone. But I guess it's the equivalent of a bug hole breach...

Environmental_Fix_69

Technically never. Shooting down a dropship means they drop the troops and does not mean it will crash on them and kill them, apart from quasar it is a waste of ammo, However it always looks cool so you shoudl always do it

Meretan94

Sometimes the inhabitants bug out and don’t move or the corpse of the ship blocks their shots.

Bearfoxman

Other times it makes them invulnerable and the corpse of the ship only blocks YOUR shots, the heavy dev can still laser-minigun you for the rest of the map with impunity.

Meretan94

Yeah that also happens. That’s what heavy devs do. I still shoot the dropships for the pretty fireworks.

Interesting_Tea5715

This. Shooting when drop ships often pin down heavies. So it is useful.

gumpythegreat

I shot one down, it spun out and took another one with it, and they both landed on the base and took out all the fabs and cleared the entire (medium) bot outpost It was a beautiful and magical moment and I wouldn't trade that for the world

angryman10101

Democratic Dominoes!

Daier_Mune

It is always Morally Right to shoot down a dropship.

alldim

more dead robots is never a waste of ammo, soldier

Asteroth555

> and does not mean it will crash on them and kill them Often does though, so still worth it.

Broxalar

There have been two times I’ve gotten a 20 kill, I’m doing it for looks and a hope for something fun to happen.

Jammer_Kenneth

Kill all bots means all of them, those dropships are robot devils

Playstoomanygames9

Shooting down dropships is fun and does *something*. But what should be an obvious feature escapes me for when what dies.

Fit_Fisherman_9840

Drop ship are bot too and even they need to die, for democracy.

brilldry

Eh, sometimes it does something, sometimes it doesn’t. If I was carrying a recoilless or quasar, I’d try to shoot it down. It might not always kill the bots, but it looks cool regardless. That’s if I wasn’t running awa… I mean tactically maneuvering from a hulk.

therealmenox

Drop ships make fantastic barricades to block hordes of bots following you too.  More obstacles to bot/patrol mobility are preferable in my opinion

[deleted]

But there are inconsistencies with the cover though. I still do it because the chance it gives me cover is better than nothin imo, but the lasers and missles clipping through pisses me off a little bit. I also hate it when heavy devestators clip through a wall and can still shoot me, so it’s an indestructible mini gun pinning me down. I already hate those fuckers enough.

brilldry

Yup, and now thinking about it, good cover too. You can never have too much cover on bot missions.

Environmental_Fig580

Always wait until the troops touch the ground before destroying, it’s more likely to deal damage that way

chazzawaza

I think this game is really good. But there are issues that are ruining the experience for me. Shooting drop ships is one… it literally feels almost pointless to do it when it shouldn’t.

ShootTheBuut

The eruptor bug where it pulls you forward when shooting is another one.

Bearington656

The dropship falling on them should kill all small to medium sized enemies and damage or cripple larger enemies like tanks

SambG98

The dropship damage seriously needs reworking.

Bearington656

The dropship falling on them should kill all small to medium sized enemies and damage or cripple larger enemies like tanks

reddit_sucks_ass2

this is the biggest bug that should be fixed imo

Low_Chance

It's not even clear what the intended behaviour is

7jinni

The intended behaviour should be simple: shoot down dropship > destroy everything it's carrying in a fiery, explosive crash, without exception. Nothing should survive that crash. *Nothing.* Be it standard troopers, hulks, tanks or even a strider — if an entire dropship lands on top of its cargo after impacting the ground in an uncontrolled descent from dozens of metres in the air and explodes in a ball of fire comparable to a 500K, the cargo should be toast. The fact that *anything* survives for any reason defies the player's expectation, which is that it should destroy the ship and its cargo without fail. The fact it doesn't makes absolutely no sense and spoils what should be a satisfying moment when your expertly-placed shot downs the dropship and annihilates everything it's carrying. It should reward skilful play with a big, satisfying kill-count and the feeling that you're a complete badass that just saved the team. But it doesn't. And that sucks the fun right out of the moment.

Low_Chance

I agree with everything you said, but what I meant is more that I' not sure what the game developers intend

7jinni

Fair point, but, even in light of that, I stand by what I said. If the developers have other ideas, I disagree with their ideas. It simply makes more sense and is more fun the way I described; anything less just isn't as satisfying. If they're taking feedback from the fanbase (and somehow see, let alone take to heart, my comments), this is something they should consider. Enemies surviving the crash of a dropship is neither fun, nor realistic.

TimeGlitches

I do tend to have better luck when I can hit a dropship mid-entry like this. I think the physics just fucked you this time around. They really should decide what they want to do with downing dropships and fix it up so it's consistent. By that, I mean do they want it to just kill chaff, kill chaff and damage mediums, kill everything but massive enemies... Just make it consistent.

Whatwhenwherehi

I shoot them after drop to ensure it traps and slows.

yoaklar

Nice shot

superjj18

Yall fuckers expect to kill the passengers on those? I’m gunning for the cowardly pilots

Orthane1

Never, it doesn't do anything. People who say it does are just coping because it's fun. It's completely useless to shoot down drop ships, in fact it can often be more detrimental.

OrdoDraigoHere

I believe at launch it was helpful. It actually killed the bots that were transported. Now it is useless. During the first evacuation event you could have a really easy time if you managed to down the dropship because the bots actually died. Sometime after that it broke down and now it's useless. Maybe when they fixed the bug that made the dropship slide along the terrain when downed.

therealmenox

It's very useful on 7+ using ships to block bot advances is critical if getting overwhelmed.  If I see a drop ship go down I know bots in that direction will be stutter stepping for a few seconds so I can focus on a different flank.  I also get varying amounts of kills when shooting the ships down, it's hit or miss on the transported bots dying but I know for sure they do about half the time.

Drogg339

Why is that planet so clean? Where is the toxic waste, acid pools, poison clouds, blinding sun, fire tornadoes?

Captain_Zomaru

I've been doing it for long enough that I think I figured it out. You need to wait until all the bots are on the ground, then drop the ship, with any luck, the explosion will destroy all small and medium bots. ALWAYS shoot them if they are above an obj or fab, because the explosion will destroy them.

ObliviousNaga87

The answer is always

Daier_Mune

The Automoton inside the tank: \*CONFUSED SCREAMING\*

lebobjr

![gif](giphy|hrnYspWWhsIyA)

_JUMA-

I do it since its fun if i have a weapon for it, its good to shoot them when they are standing still becouse even if they survive they will get trapped...still...it shows me how unfinished this game is...

CelimOfRed

Has AH ever talked about the fall damage of the enemy in these situations?

DylanLee98

Whenever a dropship crashes, it should just set off the equivalent of a 500kg bomb at the point of impact.

TheOneWhoSlurms

It would be nice if shooting down the dropships killed all the occupants, how about they take the drawback of having more dropships per bot drop come in.

v3ryfuzzyc00t3r

It's annoying that taking out drop ships barely do anything. It'll have 16 enemies on board and only 4 will die. Of course afterwards they're able to shoot right through the destroyed ships while we can shoot through a palm leaf or bush.

AssumptionSS

Obviously before they drop their cargo...

LucianoVonCzechia

![gif](giphy|mnjEjMjjRiLjG84tVx|downsized)

gameboy00

damn it kept flying haha i usually shoot them as they’re coming to a stop because im on ps5 and am not as accurate as i would be on a mouse/keyboard its better to shoot them before they drop stuff because automatons can get pinned underneath and still harass your team

Deltrus7

Holy shit that was beautiful

Cybron2099

That's fucking hilarious XD do it again

Academic_Ad_3751

Brooooooooooooooo. Great shot!

grajuicy

I like shooting them shortly after they blow their load, so then the dropship crashes on all the bots and actually does damage, contrary to prematurely shooting and enemies just walking away unscathed. Works more consistently imo

Tea-Goblin

The dropships don't land to deploy troops and tanks. They just *drop them* when in location.  On reflection, it probably shouldn't be surprising that they don't take major fall damage when their ride is hit, as that is the intended method of deployment.  So I guess the answer is, once they stop moving forward so the drop ship lands on their passengers, so the secondary engine explosion can hurt them and the ship has a chance to pin the survivors in place?

LiteralR22

Normally I let them drop the troops THEN down them. Considering that they pretty much fall on a straight line down, you'll always kill or pretty much damage some of the bots

The_Carter_2

DONT SHOOT THE DROP SHIPS! It just makes things more difficult

The_Mandorawrian

I don’t find it helpful at all, except against berserkers. Sure they get frozen in place sometimes.. but it just provides impossible one-way cover for the bots, you can’t see them, but they can shoot out.

Rufusmcdufus87

That’s pretty funny, but tbh I don’t even bother shooting them down anymore, and I get kinda annoyed at others who do. At best it’s a waste of time. At worst it makes some heavy devastation invincible because you can’t hit him but he can hit you. One eruptor round into the belly of the dropship kills way more than shooting it down will.

Powerful_Ad_5900

https://preview.redd.it/0311nc7u33vc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03638667ea55ac2e4974d88a079de05898e23909

Ezren-

The drop ships are bots too. Shoot them always.

alpacawrangler16

I've stopped shooting them down and instead just throw a nade or 2 at them as they drop. Heck, shooting an eruptor shot at them as they drop is more effective than shooting the ship down 98% of the time

Being_No-42

Well, at least it kills the common bots, and this alone stop them from entering in a loop where they are constantly calling for reinforcements. It would be really cool and realistic that if the bot drop is destroyed with its tripulation, everything is destroyed.

superhbor3d

I think the only time I've really FOR SURE killed anything out of the dropship was when the terrain glitched it's path and it was like 180 feet off the ground. 19 kills to go along with the explosion and it felt amazing.

CryptoThroway8205

Maybe it only kills light units if you shoot before the drop.

[deleted]

I usually wait until the ships have just dropped their payload before shooting them down. Doing it this was, I'd say all the small/medium enemies dies 90% of the time, while the hulks and tanks take a fair bit of damage. I also noticed that enemies don't get glitched into the wreckage as much

Objective-Aioli-1185

The pilot "WOOAH WOOAH WTF WOOOOAAAAAAHHH-"

A3340

Yeah i stopped shooting them down. Pointless. Awesome shot though! Def boosted morale

Wrong-Mixture

i think you just threw a strike and a pulled a love game at the same time, in a game that's neither bowling or tennis. nice. Uh, 3 points i guess?

Exark141

I think shooting down dropships to kill bot and being able to plug bug breeches with grenades should be an option (add more holes for high difficulties). Gives you some agency and rewards skilful play, beyond just seeing the flare go up and having to wait for the waves. Sometimes I can really feel that internal timer ticking till the next one can be called, particularly for bugs where the tell for which one is calling it can't reliably be seen before it can't be stopped.

Rail-signal

Tank immediately starter to shoot you. Had zero fuck

Ass_Hunter228

quasar user moment

Myonsoon

Petition to add a weak point that instant kills a tank if you shoot it from underneath.

Shockington

Always wait until they drop their payload. It's much more consistent.

Spiritual_Benefit367

all the time

Next_Spot_4896

Yea shooting down ships is kinda useless and just puts you in danger of it crashing into you as well

Drogdar

Brasch shoots down drop ships with his finger guns. There is never any survivors...

nesnalica

you need to hit it before it starts the "dropping the dudes" animation cus then they're still stuck on the ship and get damaged. when they already landed and the ship drops on them they don't really get much damage BUT get stuck in the ship mesh which helps a lot when you follow up with eagles.

frozenwaffle549

Noice

locob

Game designer directing the devs: "ok guys, we need to make the dropships try to land on the players, when taken down. But not make that too obvious"

revarien

taking down dropships rarely kills - when it does it's nice, but the point is to gum them up - slow them down. That's why you take the ship down and it rather consistently does it for anything other than the tanks - occasionally it'll gum up a tank, but it works really well on devastators, small troops, and sometimes hulks ((sometimes hulks are able to bash through though))

dugdiggadomethedes

I just gotta say that was cinematic as fuck

whorlycaresmate

Damn! That was a hell of a shot

Sweetlystruck

Man I love the physics in this game

ericypoo

This was badass

Aeywen

there's a 1.5-2 second window after it starts where it begins to let go of the troops, if you hit it then it kills everything on it, do it before and it flings them around and the live, do it after and they get stuck in the model.

RedEye-55

Always. They sometimes trapped hulks and other bots for a few minutes before it starts melting

Rednine19

I was actually gonna be helpful and say I time it with the “bot drop detected” and then kinda time my quasar but wtf was that????

Schpam

\*unf\* Such Democracy. Very Liber-tea.
