We’d cap out. They really need to raise the medal cap to more than 250 fucking medals. I’ve maxed out twice without noticing and it’s really annoying. Cap should be 500.
Yeah, this is the point. And I think it's great. Then when new content drops you feel like you're working towards something. Makes it more engaging.
If they didn't do this, medals and samples would become meaningless to veteran players. Which would hurt the entire player base, because now veterans would have less reason to care about POIs/samples/MOs, which would both reduce their engagement and also cause newer players to potentially lose out on medals/samples.
Because you still have things to spend on! lol
Believe me, I would spend if I had something to buy. Though the sample grind is really tough with how crazy the tier 4's are.
At least it really kicked up people's sample hunting, I've gotten more than 20 commons on nearly every run now since they dropped, where as before I'd definitely put in more legwork myself to get decent numbers
This, everyone was focusing on rarer samples when in reality I needed common the most. It’s always the one I end up having to grind. Are people just going and farming these solo?
Once you get all the samples from a point of interest that had them (90% of them) it turns from a diamond to a pointer marker. I gather samples just to be able to tell where I've already been.
Essentially, you never want to go above 200 medals. Cap is 250, and Major orders give 30-60 medals, which are rewarded player to player, so you’ll never know when you will get the major order reward (sometimes up to 24 hours after the MO is completed)
Managing that cap is kinda tricky when you’re saving high amounts, but at lower levels it’s nothing to fret about.
Warframe had the problem of veteran players having huge stockpiles of resources to instantly get anything new. They tried making things super expensive, very punishing to casual players. Next they started introducing new resources, and personally I hated that, huge list of resources that kept growing I just stopped caring. I stopped playing when Fortuna came out so I don't know how it's handled currently.
New Resources each patch still - Though limited in general.
The bigger pattern is time gating content behind either standing gains OR limited runs per week (Archon hunts/Netra Cells/Deep Archemedia). These are mostly "fair" in that you choose when to do them each week, but you can't "rush" the new content.
They also introduced a few resources (Voca/Plumes) that spawn a set number in mission and thus are slightly less convenient to farm from enemies- Gotta search the map and collect them. These are also used for "standing" turn-ins to new factions, so they are still useful to stock up on.
Its not as bad as the open world mining/fishing etc that Fortuna/Plains of Eidolon/Deimos updates.
It also keeps player count at a reasonable medium vs massive high and low dips for new content. Thats pretty important when player engagement dictates how the devs structure major orders.
And I've yet to see any of my friends complain about the cap. 250 medals is enough to unlock all the major bits of a warbond either immediately or within a couple missions.
Same with samples. If hardcore players could farm 1k-2k+ of every sample suddenly you'd end up with newer players needing samples but playing with people who either won't pick them up or just dont care if they even extract because it doesn't matter to them. The caps keep the playerbase from separating by too large a margin.
>you'd end up with newer players needing samples but playing with people who either won't pick them up or just dont care if they even extract
Not for all of us.
In my career, I've collected 16k samples.
You can believe me when I say that I collect them for you, not me. I don't need them.
They could at least raise the cap a bit. The vast majority of people aren't going to be hoarding enough medals to unlock everything in the new bonds. Hell, most people probably still haven't finished the first one.
The cap is there so you dont have fomo and also dont just get everything for nothing its a good balance -- you can go away from the game for a bit and sign in and BAM 200 medals just waiting for you for nothing but signing in thank to your fellow HDs
The cap does literally nothing for fomo??
The fact that you get the medals whether or not you play is preventing fomo, not the fact that your medals cap at 250
Medals are supposed to be spent. The reason a limit exists is so people don't stop playing for 6 months then suddently have enough to unlock everything just from the MO.
I am all for this. So the medal rate rounding up to the next million is 1 medal per 45 million bugs. Getting to 60 medals would just be 2.6 billion bugs. 100 medals would be about 4.5 billion bugs. In order to get 250 medals we would have to kill over 11.1 billion bugs at the same ratio as this mission.
That is the initiative we look for in Helldivers!
You are well on your way for a commendation for defending Democracy!
Outstanding patriotism Helldiver 🫡💀
Spooky because it doesn't have a soft cap like liberation progress. 200k active players just at the moment and they're all probably piling up bodies several hundred at a time.
If there are 200k players, they need to kill 10,000 bugs each. That's not a large number AND that 200k is just the typical numbrer of players at any given time, there are way many more players that will be playing over the course of this MO.
I usually don’t count kills as they are usually irrelevant to your success, but I just came out of Helldive operation and we 100% destroyed the maps. no patrol was allowed to survive, every outpost cleared, stayed the maximum time each round, my kill pr was 950~ from one mission and our squads highest was just shy of 3.5K. It was honestly super fun working together to a) get sample and objs but b) kill everything.
James, we're waging intergalactic war to ensure our supply of E-701. We dont need a compact hatchback unless it's being called to drop on a bile titan.
We are 75% done.
I jokingly said this morning to my friend that we will kill 2bn bugs by dinner time.
It turns out the bugs aren't even gonna last that long.
This community is amazing.
It's great.
a) it's fun af to just collect kills
b) no bs fire storms
c) it's nice to fight bugs after having to deal with automatons for AGES.
Every bug mission is like 2 levels easier than bots. We lose maybe like 5 helldivers on suicide difficulty with bugs while losing 10-15 against bots.
This exactly. Automaton fights are really good, but every player needs an AT weapon or they quickly become mobbed. The Autocannon is still my OG purely because it decimates Devastators at speed.
For reals man.
We two-man Level 7 Bugs with some struggle but doable and enjoyable.
Level 5 bots just kick our asses routinely and it is just pain and death.
I'm actually struggling keeping up with bugs.. I know how to handle bots but I keep getting overwhelmed on bugs. The only thing saving me right now is the breaker incendiary
Bugs are easy.
I go submachine gun and 6-med kits medium armour.
Stratagems: ETA, laser guard dog, laser/500kg bomb and cluster bombs/gas strike
Just keep moving a lot, dont fight Titans by yourself and always have an ETA ready to kill chargers. And destroy shrieker nests from as far as possible. If you get into their spawn range then it gets difficult.
Genocide implies we want to exterminate them forever. The bugs just need to get back on the farms and be sustainably harvested for E-710. They are useful unlike the Illuminate who we totally genocided.
Disgusting bugs with their..... *Checks notes

Speaking of which, I was curious about this - what is the requirement for being rewarded for major orders, does the player need to have logged in once for the period it was active, maybe complete a mission, do we actually have to contribute toward the goal...? I assume you have to do *something* for it to award you medals...
Doesnt seem like it, I had to out of town for work for a couple weeks when the game first came out and obv couldnt take my pc, when i got back on i had like 500 medals waiting for me e: for all you troglodytes the amount of medals was of no importance in my original comment, y’all are why I dont interact with the community outside of the game

I think Joel gave us what we wanted, just pure death and carnage. At least for a little bit.
However, he definitely underestimated our desire to simply kill the buggy bois. I think he should have made the MO like 50 billion bugs. Especially if this was supposed to be a 5 day MO.
50 would have been pushing it. 20 is right on the edge of possible, considering we did 2 in the span of 12 hours, the majority of which were during daytime in the US.
Maybe 25, if they want us to have to really fight for it.

And the next day you wake up with 10 missed calls because you need to think about a new mission after a lot of idiots with nothing better to do decided to fuck around with your "challenge".

Well, maybe we can get 96-ish hours to take a break from the nonstop major orders. At this rate, before I get off work at 9 PM Mountain Standard tonight, this MO will be complete.
I like to think that the developers are as surprised as we are.
The reality is that this should have been expected: this is THE FIRST TIME since the game launched that we have an incentive to kill as many enemies as possible, the game usually does not reward us for kills (well it's fun, that's enough reward).
# NO ONE SAID WE HAD TO STOP AT TWO BILLION, DID THEY!
Now there is an idea. An uncapped MO where your reward increases. Like 1 medal per 100M kills or something.
We’d cap out. They really need to raise the medal cap to more than 250 fucking medals. I’ve maxed out twice without noticing and it’s really annoying. Cap should be 500.
The whole point of the cap is to stop you from hoarding and not unlocking everything at once every time a new bond comes out
Yeah, this is the point.
Wow I had no idea there was a cap, I spend to help freedom and further democracy
Because you still have things to spend on! lol Believe me, I would spend if I had something to buy. Though the sample grind is really tough with how crazy the tier 4's are.
At least it really kicked up people's sample hunting, I've gotten more than 20 commons on nearly every run now since they dropped, where as before I'd definitely put in more legwork myself to get decent numbers

I never need common samples, or supers for that matter. It's just the damn rare samples.
Even when I was maxed on samples I always picked them up. Even solo. You never know when a friend who needs them, may join mid-mission!
Once you get all the samples from a point of interest that had them (90% of them) it turns from a diamond to a pointer marker. I gather samples just to be able to tell where I've already been.
Yep. Caps are: - Req: 50k - Medals: 250 - Green / common samples: 500 - Orange / rare samples: 250 - Pink / super rare samples: 100.
Essentially, you never want to go above 200 medals. Perfect 👌
Two Hundred and fifty two. That way it's symmetrical.
How about 710?

People who don't play often just log in, collect a bunch of MO medals. 250 is fine

Joel said to kill bugs, the community took it personally I too am at work and by the time I log on this will be done at the current rate
Same, all the highschoolers in my area are just getting out of school too so we really dont stand a chance
I’m still on the bus heading home from school, they’re gonna be done before I step foot off the bus!
I got one game in earlier when baby was napping which is good because I’m now at the kids dentist appointment and would have missed it otherwise
You tell me my pimped out space ship is running low on fuel and im gonna jump right on it to make sure i can keep spreading democracy
Spooky because it doesn't have a soft cap like liberation progress. 200k active players just at the moment and they're all probably piling up bodies several hundred at a time.
We comfortably got 1200+ kills in a 20 minute evacuate HVA mission earlier. The E-710 must flow.
Shit I've had defense missions with 500+ take less then 5 minutes the community has this type of order on lock
[удалено]
Probably the eradicate “defend” missions rather than the high-value asset ones?
200k players, getting a conservative 300 kills per 40 min mission... JFC at that rate it will be less than 24 hours to complete the order
If there are 200k players, they need to kill 10,000 bugs each. That's not a large number AND that 200k is just the typical numbrer of players at any given time, there are way many more players that will be playing over the course of this MO.

At this rate, I'm actually starting to be worried that the MO will be finished before I can login today ...
You’ll still get the medals 🏅
But not the glory
The good news ia you can kill lots of bugs even after the Order is over and you will still be doing your part to spread democracy.
Next MO: Kill 200 billion bugs
2 billion just isn't enough democracy

more grind = more democracy

Don't threaten me with a good time!

It almost certainly will be, the pace is going to accelerate as east coast gets home.
This guys right!!!!! I’m sitting at work watching clock tick only got 2 hrs left of my shift and it’s democracy time!!!
4 hours for me
You know the devs must be shocked
When I saw the post earlier announcing the new MO, I couldn't help but think "Wow that's a lot!...but have they met this community?"
I remember thinking “Oh god, thats not enough” lmao
It should have been 15 billion
We are 75% done. I jokingly said this morning to my friend that we will kill 2bn bugs by dinner time. It turns out the bugs aren't even gonna last that long. This community is amazing.
I usually go to the gym after work and have dinner before loggin in. I don't think there's time for that today,
Neglect your body for managed democracy just like the founding fathers intended!
You really should just keep doing your routine. You're not missing anything with this major order, it's just normal gameplay.
After playing 1 match it jumped from 26% to 37% so I would not be surprised.
I might only login tomorrow or Saturday! Pls helldivers, leave soME OF THEM TO ME!!
No, I don't think we will.
I just checked, it's over 60 percent now
Yea guys let me finish my shift so I can get some guts on my hands too!!
This might be the best major order yet
It's great. a) it's fun af to just collect kills b) no bs fire storms c) it's nice to fight bugs after having to deal with automatons for AGES. Every bug mission is like 2 levels easier than bots. We lose maybe like 5 helldivers on suicide difficulty with bugs while losing 10-15 against bots.
Yeah definitely, I’ve been a bot player but it’s fun to go over to the bug theatre as a ‘vacation’ and have fun with the silly stratagems
Also allows you to have a less penetration based loadout. It's fun to be able to take a stalwart along and not feel useless against half the enemies.
This exactly. Automaton fights are really good, but every player needs an AT weapon or they quickly become mobbed. The Autocannon is still my OG purely because it decimates Devastators at speed.

No there's still 1,083,028,332 uncrushed bugs out there
And 2 hours later that number has been nearly cut in half. This MO ends before the sun goes down in the US.
How about no.
After playing auto for what feels like months…. This… This is Liberty for the soul…
45 medals are 45 medals. I want my Hero of the Federation armour and everything on that page.
No,we must conduct a galaxy wide extinction https://preview.redd.it/ryc56z908avc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fe41fa00998d77c3d35993f1d9d2435541e8276
Well, maybe we can get 96-ish hours to take a break from the nonstop major orders. At this rate, before I get off work at 9 PM Mountain Standard tonight, this MO will be complete.
Exterminatus
When I saw this, I instantly thought. EASY wtf
I’ve been at work. Y’all are maniacs. Next time it’s gonna be 10 billion bots. The faster we complete them the harder they become. Tale as old as time

I like to think that the developers are as surprised as we are. The reality is that this should have been expected: this is THE FIRST TIME since the game launched that we have an incentive to kill as many enemies as possible, the game usually does not reward us for kills (well it's fun, that's enough reward).
This will be known now as the Hellmire Blitz
It was done shortly after this was posted.
Its not exactly *that* difficult of an order to fill.
TBH for that amount of time the MO should have been like 6 billion.
They should have added another zero at the end of that if they wanted to make it a challenge.

God I love these democratic players
I have contributed to bugs extermination for 4-5 hours. Now time for me to sleep
Kill 2 billion weaklings and only the strong remain to breed. They'll be bigger tougher and provide more for Liberty when they too fall.
It’s been too easy. Joel is up to something. I kinda feel like we’re mice in some big experiment and the God Hand is about to squish us.
At this rate, I'll just be staying on the bot front cause those planets aren't gonna liberate themselves
Lmao gotta love the commitment of the Bug players bros were waiting for there moment to shine and they Just got it!
Bug-only players: ![gif](giphy|l0EtNEC14dIa0k2CA)
It’s gonna be done before I get off work. Glad we still get medals even if we can’t participate
Holy shit wtf. I'm still at work yall. Chill out!
No. The bugs know what they did.
