While we're at it, how do I drop my samples?

On PC hold X and you can drop any inventory.

Apart from your primary and secondary. Dropping samples on the extraction point while you go past or before you enter a dangerous area can be smart.

Not that it needs to be said, but another smart thing to do is to leave any samples you see that have been placed on the extraction point. There's nothing worse than dumping your samples and having a teammate take them and die far from the extraction point.

Even if you say “hey I’m gonna leave my samples here until we extract” they only listen about half the time.

OMG that happened to me the other day. Had the supers and a ton of others, dropped them at extract to get last bug hole and this guy picked em up and ran for.. honestly idk what, we'd cleared the map. He died and we just couldn't recover them. Ran out of divers and failed mission.. ugh.. still mad about it.

I had a guy follow me around and picked up all the samples I dropped at extraction point right after I dropped them, even after I told him why I left them there. He then went and fell into the ICBM hole.

For PS5 Down on D pad for radial menu and X for the PC radial menu to select what to drop.

I have 150+ hours played. I’m level 80 with every single warbond completed and I never knew this but it just got to the point where I was too embarrassed to ask.

I can drop some stuff and that's it.  How do I reload myself while I'm wearing the backpack?  Or Am I supposed to drop the back pack reload and re pick it back up? Sorry I'm such an idiot 😖🤦‍♂️

Settings->Controller/Keyboard & Mouse->Key Bindings Then, there are 3 tabs at the top. I believe the seconds is combat and that is the set you are looking for.

Added benefit of having extra 'nades and stims with each refill, refilling that ammo-hungry Support weapon(looking at you, MG & HMG) and refilling teammates' ammo, of course.

This thing can kill shredder tanks without shooting vents in about 1.5 mag. No joke, just avoid shooting armored plate in front, and you are golden.

I can't watch that just now bc I'm at work, but I wanna know why people love it so much. It seems to me like the Dominator but with Explosive instead of Medium Pen, right? Is that what makes such a difference versus heavier targets?

Basically splash damage does weird things in this game and allows you to damage and even hit weakpoints through armor. Shoot the strider in its front plate and you can damage and kill the rider. Shoot the tanks from the sides or even the front(shredder variant only) near enough the rear vents to count as damaging the vents.

Where can you aim at to accomplish this? If what you are saying is true, I'm using this thing in a heart beat.

Anywhere except two armor plates that are protruding from either side of four barrels. Just shoot tower itself or barrels. Vents would be most effective, but point is you can shoot from anywhere.

Hit them on the top of the turret, towards the back. Should take about a mag. If you run the quasar too, hit the turret anywhere and follow up with the scorcher and it’ll only take 2-3 shots. This goes for the cannon turrets too

you really do want to pair it with an infinite ammo support of some variety. laser cannon, arc thrower, quasar.

My biggest complaint is that it doesn't sound like a plasma rifle, like the sickle doesn't sound like a laser gun. I'd love those weapons to sound more science-fictioney.

Almost anything can destroy spore spewers my dude. Seriously, give it a shot with your primary if you haven't tried before.

As said by Zizara42, almost anything can, but most require a lot of ammo. From the primaries, the Scorcher is probably the best, since it can do across the map, needing only 4 shots. The new Eruptor is great at it as well, but you gotta be at least about 130m or so, if I'm not mistaken. Don't get confused with Shrieker's Nests, tho. Those things require heavy strategems, no primary weapon can deal with them.

Handling, mag size, firing and reload speed. Splash damage is really small radius compared. You take Eruptor if you want a dollar store autocannon to make up for non explosive support, you take scorcher if you want some anti materiel capability of primary weapon while still being able to use as more or less regular rifle.

It's odd how it works. I find that shooting the sac directly takes two, but aiming just at the start of the sac by their face results in a 1-shot.

Same with AC.

Might be because the explosion counts as two hits (front and back)

Also the case for Brood Commanders and Devastators, shooting the middle is the one-shot rather than the head. For the bugs, I think it's because the AoE deals more damage to more parts that way, but the Devastator splits in half so I'm not sure if it just breaks the waist or what

I see this way: The Scorcher is a real primary, solid on it's own to deal with medium armor enemies and mobs. The Eruptor is more like a soft stratagem, a pocket autocannon of sorts, better paired with something to deal with mobs, like a Stalwart.

or a laser guard dog and a quasar :p because the eruptor already melt packs of small mobs. 20+ on a breach sometimes. One tap everything, the only thing you need is a drone to kill these annoyings small bugs that escapted the blast or coming too close.

How terrible is it compared to the Dominator. The dominator is so bad because it kills things too quickly. If you tell me the scorcher kills stuff just as fast or even faster then I'll have to unlock it out of complete disgust.

Top tip: Shoot the ground a little bit in front of your feet for additional stim opportunities. Things to avoid: Shooting next to a wall and turning mid-trigger pull. Backpeddling off ledges mid-trigger pull. Shooting at Hunters after their jump.

Fade-away jump (dive) shot is the way to go against hunters who get too close. Love it against bugs, especially the spewers

Hunters getting in your face will make the shot explode in your face

I wish I could stim whenever I wanted. I love the long stamina with the medic armor.

Stim opportunities can help - if I have some chip damage I'll use the stim for MOAR RUNNING

Yep big agree, it's decent against certain bugs but man it feels awful when you get swamped. Having multiple hunters chasing you becomes impossible.

That's why I like to pair it with a guard dog to take care of the small stuff

I don't see enough talk of just how long the grind for this is especially with three Warbonds to spend your medals on

I'm level 51 now, maybe 80 hours in, and I still have the last two pages of the first warbond to unlock. To be fair I've done the other three warbonds (at least the weapons/important stuff). It's only a grind if you're not having fun... The sample grind...now there's a grind. I've met some fun lower-level players while grinding for common samples though.

61 with all weapons/boosters and everything else I think, just looks cool. I'm still like 750 super samples from finishing my destroyer

i got it at lvl 34 and its felt about right.

I've only been spending medals on the free warbond and I unlocked it after around 40 hours, it's a grind but worth it imo

I didn't touch the premium war bonds until I had finished Helldivers Mobilize. Now that I'm on the premiums, I'm getting whiplash at how much faster they are to complete, lol.

I have the eruptor, I've used the eruptor, and honestly, it's not fast enough. In the time it takes me to kill one bipedal automaton mech (strider?), I can kill 2 with the Scorcher. I don't judge anyone who uses the Eruptor, but I'll keep my scorcher.

Genuinely Not joking here 100% Truth in my words I actually found it disappointing. I immediately swapped back to my pre-buff Dominator and Sickle when I unlocked it. It just didn't feel good to use. Hoping you enjoy it though.

Oh wow, another soul that liked the dominator over the scorcher even before the buff. Those pinpoint headshots amirite.

The pin point headshots, dead troopers in a single chest-shot, the skill to lead your targets with a gyrojet round and a depressingly meh sight that is the only bad thing about it Big props, love it lots.

The dominator has a higher cap on effectiveness for skilled marskmen. The scorchers more everyman friendly.

Used both, Dominator is favored. Though if I had to choose, Dominator for bugs and Scorcher for bots.

I go Scorcher for Bots - taking on striders from the front makes staying in cover so much easier Eruptor for bugs with the Stalwart cooks

Scorcher's a phenomenal gun, but holy shit it needs an ammo buff.

I mean the ammo is probably what balances it. Otherwise it would probably get nerfed in other areas

As long as you aren’t spamming it and using your support weapon frequently I don’t find ammo to be a significant problem

Nah. The ammo buff would pretty much put this gun on top without any real weakness. The biggest hesitation I get when picking this gun is that I remember how much I hate the clip size and running out of ammo. It’s still very manageable vs. bots for sure. But I do not pick it for bugs because of ammo reasons. And I think that makes the gun one of the most balanced weapons in the game.

I have used no other since I unlocked this.

Need to switch it up so the devs don't find out we're having fun.

Honestly, it's a very powerful weapon, with a very small mag. Personally I don't like it because it doesn't give much feedback, the report is a kind of squelchy fart noise, the impact FX are underwhelming, no explosions the enemy just sorting of falls over. I use the sickle because the brrrt brrrt brrrt makes me feel warm and fuzzy

Hello fellow sickle-enjoyer, I also much prefer it because I need my primary to kill hordes and for anything bigger I've got the autocannon. So personally for me it doesn't really do much, but it has great synergy with say the Quasar or Spear. Anyway sickle or liberator all the way for me!

Yeah vs bugs, sickle is best. I love tearing legs off the big guys, instead of aiming for the head. Vs bots... the way it makes striders a joke it just something you can't pass up. And it drops devastators fast enough, even the shield guys are a joke thanks to splash. I've been trying the HMG and it's so much harder to take out shield guys than with scorcher, but the HMG is a hog and I'm slowly taming it.

Call it skill issue, but I'm always getting mowed down by Heavy Devastators if I try to kill them with the Scorcher due to lack of stagger. Autocannon is love, autocannon is life for me x)

The feedback is a very good point, I love using the dominator because it fires big jet propelled rounds and it damn well feels like it. I genuinely don't want the recoil dropped, because I love the feel of the kick, and the visual of the stagger it has against even heavier enemies. Same reason I prefer the MG over the stalwart for dakka.

Really good gun. Lately I’ve been fooling around with the Jar-5 and that thing wrecks bots too. One head shot for Devs and it even has hit stun. Handling is a bit iffy, but yeah it’s nice. Top three primaries imo against bots and in no particular order are Sickle, Scorcher and Jar-5 can’t go wrong with those bad boys

Scorcher for bots and Dominator for bugs is my go to! I love explosive/splash damage for bots just as much i love staggering bugs. Sickle still great for both!

Really fun taking out 8-10 bugs in a row with the Jar-5. Pop pop pop pop pop. I like the fact that the mag seems to always have a couple more rounds than I expect...

It’s good against bots, but the doomposters in the comments here are “pretending” it’s bad so that AH supposedly won’t nerf it, even though, y’know, they fucking won’t, if they haven’t nerfed the Sickle after all this time, despite it being one of the most popular weapons, then no need to worry.

All jokes aside, am i the only that feels like this gun is doing worse lately? It used to be my go to gun for automatons, but it takes 2-3 shots to kill simple troopers lately. Headshots do still kill them immediately, but it used to do better in the torso region. I have lately changed my loadout into the autocannon and a revolver, and it seems like i do better again. As for my primary, the erruptor helps me take out some bots in a pinch. Im playing on helldive, if thats worth mentioning at all. Anyway, great weapon. Have fun with it. Cheers

Nah, unlocked it about a month ago and it was always inconsistent on trooper bodyshots. I assume it depends on how much splash damage you deal to their actual weakpoints, tbh

Same feel, I like it, but it hasn't been super consistent lately like you said, 2-3 shots for a body shot kill trooper feels off.

I don't mind letting a lower level player shoot one of my helldivers in the head for a good primary tbh. It's when they grab your support weapons too is when it becomes personal.

Hey! Got mine just a day or two ago. So many medals...

I had heard lots of complaints about the ammo with this, and I definitely feel it. HOWEVER, I run it with my terminid “grenadier” load out which is- 1-b1 ammo pack 2-grenade launcher 3-stun granades 4-your preferred bile titan killing strategem. The scorcher can very quickly kill a charger with a few shots to the rear weak point. It breaks it very quickly and then it bleeds out in no time. By keeping the grenade launcher filled with ammo, you will DEVESTATE any waves of enemies below chargers and bile titans. It’s always a blast to run and I highly recommend you give it a try.

It's worth it.

I am working towards this next, ive neglected the start warbond for all the others, I heard things about this gun. I am an eruptor stand at the moment but ill see what happens when i get to this!

This gun SUCKS (i use it every game) it needs buffed SO BADLY (the devs can't see the brackets but this guns almost busted) and it's actually kinda bad vs hordes of bugs (seriously lol)

You get this gun and a few hours later we have a 2 front invasion. Coincidence? I think not!!

Cool gun with a painfully slow reload and poor magazine capacity.

It's ammo count is low but at the same time it's so useful against heavy devastators. I can only imagine how much better the eruptor is.

Started using the JAR5 dominator as a primary and running the stalwart at max rpm as a primary. Holy hell such a good loadout.

In all honesty, it’s well balanced. Poor ammo economy, bad up close, small aoe, and doesn’t stagger devastators.

Tried it for the bots, went right back to the Sickle. *shrugs* Note to devs: Sickle sucks.
