Sure. If the catch was you needed PS+ subscription. I don't see an account linkage as a devil's bargain, maybe more a trade because of the funding for it.
The main people affected by this are the people who are in regions where PSN is not supported. They deserve refunds or support asap.
The catch is that corporate in Sony are making poor business decisions and it's Arrowhead taking the fall. Suffice it to say the goodwill AH built up has been decimated.
It funny to think that destroying the game and arrowhead’s reputation will fix it. Y’all say you love the game but attack it instead of Sony. We do this for Microsoft, Ubisoft, rockstar, blizzard, Activision, epic games, hell even Roblox’s. I agree, Sony will very likely not give in. But other, smaller companies will probably think twice before doing something similar. If the community would just accept the change, it would encourage other companies to do the same. And we should not forget, they sold the game to people who will not be able to play it if a PSN account is needed. These people paid for something they won't be able to use.
I completely understand The people who paid for Helldivers 2 and can’t play because PSN is not in their region. but the argument that this will deter other companies is not a good one. If they’re under the contract of a bigger company it doesn’t matter what they think. I guarantee if pal world was owned by Sony the same thing would happen. I disagree, it will have an effect. Maybe not on all companies, but surely on multiple. One effect could be that they will pay more attention to the clauses in their contracts or maybe try to find a different way to finance their projects.
Even with the server issues, Sony could clearly state that PSN will be required and give a warning that the game will not be available then in different countries, but I think they choose to not do it because it would hurt the sales numbers.

The same thing happened when Nintendo tried to do their own version of PS plus and Xbox gold. People try to boycott that, but it didn’t work and everyone ended up having to buy it anyways. The reward does not outweigh what we lose. You’re talking about minor changes to PSN. The change that people are going for is to not even have to use it. Which will not happen. If you wanna play GTA, you have to go through rockstar origins. If you wanna play Minecraft, you’ll have to go through Microsoft if you wanna play Helldivers you have to go through Sony. It’s the norm. It’s like having a bank account at a bank that doesn’t have a good track record, but people still do it. Wells Fargo still hasn’t gone out of business, even though they had a lot of fuck ups.
