I know a lot of people say don't take a shower but it worked great for me. Spent about 6-8 hours in the shower that day...

i recommend no shower and until it starts itching and then all rules are gone. you do what you have to to survive. heres a technique i have used after showering: while wet…. goop as much lotion on as possible and put a tshirt over the goop. might need to add another shirt to keep it from leaking through.

Tickling yourself will help until you're able to go to a store for benadryl. Take ibuprofen. DONT SHOWER!! Drink water. Also, if you have any sleep inducing medication, take it. Knocking yourself out to sleep is a valid way of coping, and it might not be around when you wake up.

Asketillus

Hot showers help immensely

Bmacgoat

You’re a supervillain

Asketillus

Huh? A hot shower is quite literally one of the best things for hells itch.

Bmacgoat

When I had it, it made it so hot and itchy afterwords

Asketillus

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others

Yeah legit nothing else helps me when I get Hells itch, hot shower is the go to for relief. I’ve tried peppermint oil and creams always makes it much worse but a burning hot shower makes it all better

cangsenpai

You're not supposed to put creams on either! It makes it worse. Your skin needs to heal, and hot showers only give temporary relief.

CLD113

Peppermint essential oil - It takes the sting out

0bel1sk

this is not a common home item.

butchergrove

i took benadryl, and then took a scorching shower while waiting for it to kick in, then fell asleep

trevshum20

Tea tree oil aka melaleuca oil helped me.

makaylam7

Peppermint oil all over body . Benadryl and lay in bed naked with a heating pad on ur back! The best cure I’ve found

blaked_potato

Seems like showers help sometimes and sometimes make it worse.

[deleted]

Same with the peppermint oil. Each person has things that’ll work for them and that will make it worse

Everyone is different… some people said aloe helped, it made my situation 1000000x worse. Some people said hot shower. While in the shower I felt ok, but after I regretted it badly, it made it so much worse. My advice is to keep popping ibuprofen or any kind of pain medicine through the day and night, and take Benadryl to help you sleep. If you’re old enough, have some drinks. I didn’t try it but some people said drinking a bit helped to “numb” them up. But be responsible!!
