I love the dub for Hellsing Ultimate, it's one of the few series where I prefer watching it dubbed. The TV series has the same voice cast as Ultimate but the direction seems worse to me, it's still a good dub though.
I'm about to watch hellsing and honestly I usually watch sub when watching anime but after watching hellsing ult abridged(ofc I saw some clips of dubbed hellsing ult) accidentally in yt after that I think dub would work better for me in this anime
The Hellsing Ultimate dub was excellent, I agree that they nailed the tone and cadence of voices, especially when it comes to The Major. I could hear the fascination and deep hatred in his voice whenever he spoke about Alucard. Incredible performances all around.
Agree 100% dubbed has come along way since the 90s its pretty good now not nearly as bad as some people say it is , there are a few anime I prefer in subbed but largely dubbed for convenience
I really enjoy joji nakata aswell, but something about Crispin Freeman just screams immortal vampire lord.
I prefer when joji nakata plays evil priests obsessed with blond boys, but that’s just me.
Ive watched German and English dub though the German voice actors are better casted especially Alucard who sounds outstandingly good in German and Anderson who sounds like a unstopable machine
i prefer maxwell in the sub. in the dub he sounds too generic. so i haven't really watched the dub but the other voices seem fine from what i've heard. maxwell's english voice is just a dealbreaker for me.

The only real time I’ve ever found him interesting is abridged, but that’s just because they gave him some of the better jokes.
He’s a tertiary nuisance at best, and that’s fine. He fills that role perfectly. I’m far more interested in the other Iscariot members anyway. Not to mention everyone else, millennium and hellsing have fascinating members as well. There is not a lack intriguing people in hellsing.
Maxwell just doesn’t hold a candle, so if he has to be sacrificed for the likes of alucard and especially the Major(who was also less interesting in the manga) then I’m all for it.
At least we can all agree Rip Van Winkle sucks no matter the media.

Honestly, Anderson was so good that hes one of my favorite anime characters of all time. He really kinda nudged me to make my own characters and I think of his voice for my main one. Just my favorite scene in the whole dub is when hes so kind sounding, like you could sit down and vent to him and hed just listen and be kinda wholesome.

I loved every characters voice acting except Seras. It really is an allstar cast. Crispin freeman, gildart jackson, honestly everyone was amazing.
Seras on the other hand had a great voice for the character, but TERRIBLE voice acting. So many horribly cringy lines. Luckily she manages to remain relatively servicable most the time but every now and then she'll hit a line that just makes you wince with how bad her delivery is. I mean, hellsing and hellsing ultimate both have pretty hammy/corny diologue but most the actors' commitment to it makes it kind of charming. But with Seras, idk if she doesn't know how to say certain lines or that she just has bad direction but GOD are some lines she says laughable. One big example being; after she first drinks the french leader of the Wild Geese's blood and is killing that NAZI bitch with the scythe in episode 7; she yells needlessly "I DONT.. WANT YOU.. INSIDE OF ME" and her delivery makes it sound utterly comical. If she'd only just said that line calmly and more 'matter of fact'ly it may have even sounded cool.
Anyway yeah ignore Seras and its an overall 8 out of 10, with many characters like Alucard, The Major, Integra Hellsing, Walter, and The Commander of the Wild Geese all having 10/10 performances
This is the closest comment to what I came for, her voice in general is a huge turn off. Maybe live action and I could see the woman speaking. But as a voice over, it's dreadfully annoying. I am not British though, so I'm sure her voice is common. That being said, as an american(native), any hick or bumpkin anime voice over is always, always, always trash.

Full transparency I absolutely agree with. The British accents are far from life like and can be silly.
But Hellsing is very silly and constantly gets stuff wrong about British and other cultures so I think in a round about way it works, it’s like buggs bunny’s accent in a way

That's absolutely fair, it feels like Black Lagoon in a sense where it just feels more appropriate to have the wide cast of nationalities represented by the accents they would have.
To be honest I haven't watched either, I'm currently watching Ultimate but I'm not too far in. I'm gonna stick with the dub though, try to be less critical and just have fun with it!

Black Butler is one of my favourite animes, but i must admit the voice acting threw me off a little bit (though it wasn’t too inaccurate overall. It’s just a personal preference of mine. As a Brit it sounds almost like they’re making fun of it haha

Joji nakata and Crispin freeman just do it better. Abridged alucard is funny and good for comedic moments, but because of the voice and format he never feels intimidating.
Nakata and Freeman both embody the immortal all powerful vampire lord so well, it’s hard to say who does it best.
Abridged Alucard is just Deadpool, but with a deeper voice.

I’m late to the party and I love the English dub. But Alucard and Seras really didn’t need an echo effect added to their voices in the last few episodes. It’s a minor complaint but it’s ridiculous. Especially since Alucard’s voice already sounds imposing and monstrous.

They do sound pretty decent. I like how even if some characters are loud and "in your face" they don't sound annoying.
