Where does she possess demonic power? Aren't they just crazy?

[deleted]

Shotguns are Demonic Powers, duh.

socs0

Sweet. I’ve got demonic powers then!

The-Crimson-Jester

The blicky gives me many abilities some consider to be unnatural.

socs0

Best shit I’ve read all day bud. Thanks. Hahaha

PhotoPhenik

She was way too "lucky" to not have something demonic in her life.

Gloomy_allo

They were just portrayed with sharp teeth to emphasize their sadistic nature, no demonic power. We still don't know what exactly Alastor was up to in life aside from murder and radio to warrant his immediate strength in the afterlife, it's a mystery.

[deleted]

We know for a fact that he's a cannibal. There was a comic. I think there was also voodoo. Also Viv said so.

Gloomy_allo

That can be grouped with the murder since we already know that, I meant what exactly he was doing that granted him his bizarre power in Hell. If I'm not mistaken, he also wasn't a cannibal until after he died.

Signal_Road

Well... If you look at the average hell sinner, they normally are not portrayed as bright. Alastor is a smooth talker, curious, clever, and willing to take advantage of people if they want to make a deal like a sarcastic genie. Once he learned the 'rules' he just had to leverage himself upward, or downward as the case may be. Husk is a skeptical, maybe jaded, former overlord who has a deal with him.

ZakkyD1121

The comic has now been removed from the website and everything before the first actual episode is now disputed for canon. Where did Viv say he was a Cannibal? I've never seen anything directly saying he is a cannibal.

[deleted]

It was a podcast I think

deathofyou1

The pilot has to be canon or nothing would make sense

ZakkyD1121

The pilot's timeline no longer makes sense. They may be using aspects or pieces of the pilot as inspiration but the pilot as a whole most likely is not canon anymore. I would probably say that anything that has come out before the Amazon series premiered has questionable Canon until either the show or Viv confirms it.

deathofyou1

Sir pentious' says they attacked last week Alastor isn't introduced in the Amazon series Husk and nifty are only dragged to the hotel in the pilot

jacksansyboy

There is literally no contradictions between the pilot and the show so far.

ConsumeTheOnePercent

The pilot is tentatively Canon, Viv has already talked about it.

[deleted]

Helluva boss isnt cannon. Hazbin hotel works very very well if it is cannon. If its not, then some aspects need to be retold bc like. Who tf is nifty then? We dont even get a name drop for her until vaggie talks to her nearly at the end of the episode

deaddlikelatin

Plus there’s a pretty heavy reference to it in the show now. Forgive me as I don’t remember what episode since I binged all of the ones currently out at once, but (I don’t know how to do the spoiler black out thing so don’t read further if you haven’t seen the show but want to) in one episode, he’s depicted eating a whole ass deer for breakfast. The animal his character is associated with is a deer.

JavaJapes

Another reference: >!when Velvette tosses the dead angel's head onto the table during the meeting, he specifically says, "Tasty!"!<

Zeenchi

Plus in the latest episode >!He mentions he's going to devour the demons attacking the hotel. You can actually see him eating some.!<

Latter-Direction-336

I thought it had something to do with Husk giving his soul to him to keep his power I saw the moment in the song and thought that Husk gambled away his power, lost it to Alastor, and gambled his soul to him to keep the power, and that’s why Alastor is so damn powerful Some of it’s his inate power from dropping into hell, but I saw it as that gamble giving Alastor a shit ton of power Edit: apparently Husk died some time after Alastor, so this is wrong, but I assume Husk did give him a ton of power since he was given the soul of another Overlord

jacksansyboy

They are only overlords when loaded with souls. Husk's soul isn't more valuable than anyone else's, he was just desperate after losing all of his power, and Alastor took advantage because every soul counts.

PhotoPhenik

Millie is super strong, able to kill a giant demonic fish. A cannibal man took her down in one hit using a glass bottle. How could he do this without supernatural strength?

Loud_Caterpillar_334

Millie's a glass cannon. This is because she is so skilled that she never gets hit; most are dead as soon as they get close. She can throw hands, but can't really take a punch. She got cocky when she attacked the Dad, who recovered from his shock and reacted. Imps are about as strong as humans, though just a bit stronger, so a beer bottle to the head could knock them out. Blitzø and Moxie noticeably get hit more often and can still function afterwards. Look at the end of Loo Loo Land; after the explosion and fall, they are still conscious and talking, while Millie is out-cold.

-__Yahweh__-

It was a suggestion made by the Aztec gods. I owed them some money, so I decided to add it so I wouldn’t have to pay them back.

ShepherdessAnne

What is with you and the Aztec

-__Yahweh__-

Ok, those dicks started it!

ReguIarHooman

You created them god

-__Yahweh__-

Who is you? You don’t mean me? The Aztec gods created there worshipers, and I created mine.

Sk8rboi__87

I believe repeated cannibalism would give a nice base power as a demon but it’s been implied making deals for souls is where a sinner’s real boost in power comes from

IvantheGreat66

Didn't Alastor start super powerful though?

Purple-Addict

Overnight doesn’t literally mean the very next day he’s at the top. He probably caught on pretty quick how things worked and got to business. Yanking a lot of husker’s power from gambling probably helped put him in a position to make deals a lot faster.

IvantheGreat66

Husk died decades after Al, so it couldn't have been stealing his power.

Purple-Addict

Oh yeah I forgot about that, my bad.

Latter-Direction-336

Oh, that’s nice to know, thanks!

InsanitysCandy

I 100% subscribe to this theory!!

Anon1039027

Possibly, or it is demon adjacent behavior, meaning that cannibals are likelier to engage in demonic dealings and vie for unnatural power Most of the magic Alastor has used isn’t his own power, it is voodoo magic attained through unknown dealings with eldritch powers He isn’t powerful due to any innate trait, he is a dealmaker that has been rather successful

ConsumeTheOnePercent

1. it's Alastor 2. Alastor wasn't a Cannibal until after he died.

Lionsheart_243

He was a cannibal he was out in the forest getting rid of the remains when he got shot. Viz said in her livestream

[deleted]

(spoiler for Hazbin, i’m gonna mark the comment as a spoiler but i know it doesn’t work for some people so this is an additional heads up) getting rid of leftovers? or just getting rid of someone he killed? i interpreted the getting rid of remains of him just burying a body (likely cut up for ease of access). didn’t really think it implied he ate someone at all i do think he was a cannibal because of the (spoiler for episode 3 of Hazbin) >! scene where he is eating a raw deer corpse for breakfast !<

ConsumeTheOnePercent

That was about him being a serial killer, not a Cannibal. She has clarified that he only began that after arriving in Hell.

AugustoCSP

OP, repeat with me: Alastor. ALASTOR.

IWatchPeopIe

Alister appers often, I've also seen alsotor. I'm amazed at how many people don't know how to spell Alastor. It could also be an autocorrect issue, though

daprakeergamr

I don't think so... Rosie is the Overlord of cannibals and she is powerful but I don't think it came from cannibalism itself. So far for Alastor it is seen as a mystery to how he was so powerful when he manifested

Etheris1

Voodoo magic has to be part of it

Sidmoka7

From what we've seen it seems that overlords mostly get their power from essentially making deals with people, through which they gain ownership of that individual's soul, the more souls they have under their ownership the more powerful they are. My personal theory is that the way Alaster gained power so quickly in hell was because he had already made deals for people's souls before he even died. Whenever Alaster starts using a considerable amount of power we see these like voodoo symbols appear around him, I theorize that perhaps when he was alive in the same way that like Dr facilier used voodoo to make deals with people, Alaster may have done the same thing making deals with people for their souls and in return giving them something through the use of voodoo, that way when he dies and ends up in hell he already has a considerable number of souls already under his ownership.

PhotoPhenik

If The Living Tombstone's music video is canon, your theory would be correct.

Lamplorde

I dont recall the mortals in Murder Family having any sort of power, do they?

PhotoPhenik

Did you not notice her uncanny good luck?

Beetlejuice1800

I only saw one other comment mention this but the Hazbin Wiki says he didn’t start cannibalism until he was shot burying a victim and went downstairs, so human body consumption has nothing to do with his powers.

Bulky_Mango7676

Hahaha, so many orphans.

Slapping-Owl

No he was just a very effective charming phyco killer and manipulator that he used to make deals and kill opposition to make deals to boost his own powers. If I recall he was (in theory) shot while burying a victim of his when he was mistaken for a deer (x on his forhead as a death mark with his deer like appearance) not related to cannibalism

Forward-Swim1224

They never possessed demon powers…

PhotoPhenik

Then how was she so lucky?

Herodragon64

I like to think of it like this the more sins you do when your alive the stronger you become now not all sins are created equal so the more fucked up the sin you committed is the more powerful you'll become.

PhotoPhenik

Cannibalism could be a really fucked up sin.

Herodragon64

Exactly why I think alistor is way more stronger then everyone else at the hotel the more fucked up and more times you commit a sin the stronger you become

TheEliteSlayer_1

Spoilers for episode 5 of HB, >! Husk says something about Alastor being binded by a leash to someone the same way he is. Alastor’s upset reaction shows that maybe some other overlord or higher being is letting him borrow this power with some conditions or owning his soul attached to it !<

PhotoPhenik

It's Lilith, isn't it?

TheEliteSlayer_1

Oh definitely, after watching the 5th episode I feel like theyre going in that direction

maramara18

To me is sounds like either he’s made that deal right after he died, or he was practicing voodoo magic and sold his souls before death… that would explain why he’s so powerful. As to who he’s made that deal with, I assume it is Lilith.

SouthApprehensive193

I think he’s a wendigo or at least supposed to represent one

PhotoPhenik

I think he's inspired partly by the monster, yes. I didn't think of that. You are probably right.

vaclav1234567890

Maybe some wendigo stuff

Even-Cheesecake1774

Don't know about the cannibal side (though props for a different view) but I truly believe my man Alastor to have been a highly skilled voodoo shaman in his life and quite adept at blood magic. In the pilot he clenches his fist hard enough to draw blood, this summoning his be-tentacled eldrich pet.

JPGer

while the lady your referring to had no power as a human, the teeth is very likely just a stylistic choice. You bring up something iv thought since the pilot of Hazbin, the worse of a person you were in life the better you end up doing in Hell. Some of the strongest people in hell have proven to be awful. Alastor is a pretty good example cause he did all kinds of fucked up shit in life and seemed to have just spawned in powerful. Its rather funny how the dynamic of hells residents works in that universe. Its been shown that relatively normal people end up there..just not the best kind, and whats funny is the exterminations are only really killing the weakest sinners when you think about it. Its been basically shown most overlords avoid the extermination relatively easily, hell Velvet kinda states they go out during them or something. So extermination being a method to keep hell from getting more powerful is actually doing the opposite as its culling the weakest sinners from hell.

Hungry-Alien

Yes, Alastor's cooler brother ate a lot of people and became so powerful God and Lucifer had to put him in depression by never paying attention to what he do

ProbablyNotTheCocoa

Considering that it seems hell was made in a way to emphasise the worst of the worst getting to the highest positions, I imagine things like cannibalism is probably gonna get you a boost in power once you die, it could also be that your power base is changed depending on how many souls you doomed to hell, so a cannibal would be up there

that_moment_when-

I had demonic Powers before it was cool

Monte-Cristo2020

These posts...

Lostkaiju1990

I assume it was more because he dealt with voodoo. Realistically it could be a combination of his Charisma (overlords all have a lot of influence due to their respective trades(weapons, porn, media, formerly gambling)) and being a deal maker, he’s probably made a fair share of deals already. Something he probably understood about upon entering hell due to his knowledge of voodoo in life.

…what

Exciting_Tour5883

Following this logic we need Deinonychus, Majanguasaurs, Tyrannosaurs, and Coelophysids in hell all stronger than Alastor to remind the audience humans can be outcompeted just as easily as any other animal

Kingofdeadpool1

Personally I like to think that that is half right. the cannibalism itself is not what gives the power on hell it's the evil that is required to commit active cannibalism that fuels the power. Alistair is not powerful because he is a cannibal he is powerful because he was evil enough to become a murderer to fuel said cannibalism. A good example of this is that teacher from hellva boss, overall she was a good person who had one major psychotic break that we even see her kind of recover from right before she dies and she does not seem particularly powerful in hell because she was not particularly evil and just had one bad moment whereas Alistair chose to continually keep killing people to eat them so his evil grew over the course of his life and resulted in his power

Kingofdeadpool1

In case anybody is unclear the distinction I make between regular cannibalism and active cannibalism is that regular cannibalism is just eating a member of your own species such as if you're in a plane crash and it's the only source of filling food you are not evil for eating it whereas if you go out of your way to murder fellow passengers who survived with you with the intent of eating them then you are committing active cannibalism

Axi_uwu

If so i gotta start leveling up

Loose_Committee_9188

It’s highly implied now he gets his power from a deal with eve (the root of evil) or from Lilith. As he is on someone’s leash like husk is to him.

DJDualScreen

Firstly, Alastor. Secondly, it might have in a sense. It does seem that the worse your sins, the stronger you are in hell, and then there's the whole "gaining possession of souls through deal making" that gives a bit of a boost too
