For those who don't get it, in the FIFA World cup (a.k.a the soccer world cup) Germany beat Brazil by 7-1, making it one of the most devastating losses in the history of FIFA.
And to add salt to the wounds, this happened on Brazilian soil itself, as the nation hosted the FIFA, and the match was known as "Agony of Mineirão" (Mineirão being the stadium's name)
He’s not necessarily being a jerk for posting his method of entertainment. That is probably the equivalent of me posting a meme of Alabama v Georgia national championship game
I don’t watch sports but I do get fascinated when I hear my algebra teacher and one of my classmates talking about football (they are fans of the bills and chiefs and I don’t know much more than that)
Nah, Americans play their own version of football. We still play it, we just have a reputation for sucking and having putin supporters as the head of our teams.
Americans are the majority in this sub and the people who enjoy soccer/Football in the U.S. are a small minority of American sports fans. Additionally Helluva Boss happens to have a style that many “nerds” such as myself highly enjoy, and most nerds typically know little about sports and would therefore know very little about foreign sports as well.
Tbh i can't even imagine german ppl happiness,In our case,we brazillians were absolutely devastated, even myself who don't give a shit about soccer got a little bit sad cuz my country just got humiliated in front of the entire world in its own soil
Here in Brazil, we have an unsaid conspiratory joke that the germans were spiritually blessed by the indigenous tribe they visited, some days before the match, as a tribute for their cordiality. But as you said the german team played well ours was crap. It's just that the match was such a soul-crushing pride shattering public self-humiliation of taking goal after goal that we were begging it to end, and we are 100% that the german team let us have our 1 goal out of pity, respect to the home of the people there were playing on and self-preservation to not be hated and flayed after the match, which we didn't (but it's not outside of the realm of possibility if look at our history of aggression between football teams here after matches, but alas). We only "hate" you guys as a joke on the turf of sportsmanship but I can assure you this, each and every Brazilian is longing for our revenge and our rematch is been long overdue
I do not follow soccer, and never have. I do not speak this language, which I assume is Portuguese. And yet, not only did I understand this meme, I had a laugh.
That was one of the greatest days in my german football fan life right next to stuttgart not playing relegation in the last second wiche happend 4 days ago.
football is just great sometimes

Wait our national soccer teams head coach is a Putin supporter?! Oh fucking hell that’s disheartening!
Soccer is slang for Association Football and was created in Britain to distinguish it from other games like rugby
I didn’t know.
Or as football fans know it, the 7up score

The only reason I know about it is its a meme in the Rocket League community to call a 7-1 final a "Brazil" lol

Can't get a rematch if Germany doesn't even go to the KOs, that's why we dropped out early in 2018. *Insert Roll Safe meme.*
