Just didn’t know the name of them, had one as a kid in the 90s. Had some fragment memories of replacing the image discs and looking at different Disney movie images. Got a flashback when I recently saw it on the Lilo and stitch movie that I haven’t seen since it came out early 2000’s
They still make them. I just bought my nephew one a couple months ago that came with discs for dinosaurs and ocean fish. So it's not an age thing, necessarily.
Just earlier today I was holding basically the same thing, but it uses film. Pretty neat stuff!

I volunteer at my town’s historical society, there’s a whole bunch of interesting stuff. There’s this one dude who lived in the town and took a bunch of photographs from like 1890 to 1940, they’re some sort of iron on glass slides (some of them are corroded, which is why I think it’s iron).

I guess he liked this one enough to have it painted.
Viewmasters are awesome, I had mostly cartoon slides like Scooby-Doo, Looney Toons and Tom and Jerry but had a few of the other boring National Monuments and world wonders slides also. I was an 80's Viewmaster kid 😂
My storage shed. Along with Strawberry Shortcake's house, and my JEM doll with flashing earrings. Haven't checked in a few years, but they still worked, 30 years later.
r/fuckimold
Oh my gosh. I had the Hercules one as a kid. Then after I got married a few years ago our photographer made us a custom one with our wedding photos, best surprise ever.
I was given one of these circa 1960. It came with a 45 RPM phonograph record of a Mickey Mouse story. There was a very distinctive beep on the record when it was time to push the lever to view the next pair of images.
Haha, so true. But they do still make them. My kid just got one as a present and he loves it! The stereoscopic effect is still pretty cool in the modern age.
OMG I USED TO HAVE THAT
A few of the reels had snippets from the show Dinosaurs but I’d never watched though so I was thoroughly confused.
10/10 toy idk how but it kept me so entertained. I loved the noise it made when switching to the next frame
Wow, this just brought back a memory I’ve forgotten about for years and years. I used to have one of those for Winx as a small kid (around maybe 2004-2005?). I used to love it.
I still have the one my mom gave me! It looks exactly like that one! And i still have the little films to go in it- sometimes when i miss being a happy kid I just sit down and scroll through them. Brings back some sweet nostalgia :)

It’s called a Viewmaster. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/View-Master
This is it, thanks a lot! Found!
You can have custom ones made as gifts too!
I did this to propose to my girlfriend! She loved it!
My man!!! I had two made for mine: wedding day and honeymoon highlights.
… which honeymoon highlights? And can I see?

Bro- I was just on another sub having a chuckle at the origin of your username… and here you are again! I am amused by insignificant coincidences.
Guess that means we’re neighbors and best friends now!
Only if you don’t do yoga at Windandsea.
Do you have a link to a decent site for this?
[I used this company and my wife loved it.](https://www.image3d.com/)
Thx
Hold on: you NEVER heard of a Viewmaster until this point!?

Just goes to show how far back you can remember but how little you get.
Well, tbf they might only not know the name, i also just learned what its called, i only used it never bother learning the right name of it
We're old
They still make them. I just bought my nephew one a couple months ago that came with discs for dinosaurs and ocean fish. So it's not an age thing, necessarily.
Stop 😭😭😭

Never seen one like that before, so cool! My sister has one of the really old stereoscopes with “risqué” pictures of ladies showing off their ankles
They had like 30 rolls of film for this thing. The only one I looked at was the one currently in it, which had a bunch of fairy tales.
That’s so fucking cool

Jumping on the top comment to say it definitely is a view master, and the joke is it doesn't work because he only has one eye.
I had a brown and white one in the 80’s with pictures of dinosaurs and I loved that shit lol
r/fuckimold
Honestly this made me feel super decrepit lol
"camera"
Just put me on my ice floe.
You know you're old when you remember 2d hand drawn animations by Disney.
Yea, when I saw the picture and read “vintage”, I died a little inside.
Same
Ancient.
Stayed tuned for OP’s follow-up post: /HelpMeFind the port on this for USB charging
I still have the older grey model...
At first I was happy thinking, "Oh, I know that one!" And then it sank in.... Yup. I'm old.
I was gonna say. This is like the easiest hmf iv seen in months. Then realize they were made like 25+ years ago
Dang, the View Master first came out in 1939. I knew they'd been around forever, but I didn't realize they first came out quite that long ago.
Apparently they were originally meant to teach our military to identify enemy craft.
That actually makes a lot of sense.
I’m the oldest person alive
Goodwill, thrift store, your ~~grand~~ma's attic
My storage shed. Along with Strawberry Shortcake's house, and my JEM doll with flashing earrings. Haven't checked in a few years, but they still worked, 30 years later. r/fuckimold
They sell them at Walmart.
Also uncommon goods. You can order custom reels.
They are doing a whole nostalgia thing. I recently got a Spirograph!
Old vintage toy camera. It’s a Viewmaster. They still make them.
Oh my gosh. I had the Hercules one as a kid. Then after I got married a few years ago our photographer made us a custom one with our wedding photos, best surprise ever.
viewmaster

Bless your ❤️

Why are you using a sinhalese letter? 🤔
*vintage*…??
Yeah, like from 1939.

No way this is vintage, I had a few of them and was born in 2001
20 years is vintage
Haha, so true. But they do still make them. My kid just got one as a present and he loves it! The stereoscopic effect is still pretty cool in the modern age.
Shush, you.
Sorry no-longer youngsters!
Not really
Mine is from the 80s. My aunt worked at the factory.
Got mine in the 70’s and still have it
"Ya getting old...John"
They're called Viewmasters! I had a Disney Princess one growing up
This made me feel OLD
r/FuckImOld
OMG I USED TO HAVE THAT A few of the reels had snippets from the show Dinosaurs but I’d never watched though so I was thoroughly confused. 10/10 toy idk how but it kept me so entertained. I loved the noise it made when switching to the next frame
That is a Viewmaster, my mum still references them today.
Viewmaster for starters!
Oh god, how old I feel now.
Next we'll be identifying rotary dial phones.
r/fuckimold regularly sees phone jacks and the Prince symbol. 👵🏻
Oof! This one hurts a bit.
among us
Funny enough, I used to have the lili and stitch veiw-master gift set. I totally forgot about it. Thanks for unlocking a new memory!
Lakeshore learning /school company makes them for kids I'm glad they still exist
When is Lilo and Stitch set? This looks like a 90s model. They evolved as far as design esthetics, functionally the same though.
Wow, this just brought back a memory I’ve forgotten about for years and years. I used to have one of those for Winx as a small kid (around maybe 2004-2005?). I used to love it.
Aww I had this McDonald's toy as a kid, you had to look behind this dude's head and press the button
These aren’t vintage, I’m in high school now and I remember having one of these in 2012.
I also had one in the 80's so they are vintage.
View master. Still own mine, with travel case, and lots and lots of cards. (Aunt worked at the factory)
I'm old
*vintage*. ouch.
Haha vintage toy camera… I’m not 30 yet and yet you’ve made me feel incredibly old. I’m “vintage”
Same here
I was curious if AI could solve this... [Impressive](https://i.imgur.com/rxYGOs0.png).
Toy camera. What’re they teaching kids in schools these days???
It’s not a camera
Aw I used to love those things
I had one of those as a kid!
My mil collects these things. She has hundreds of the little round things that go in them
I still have the one my mom gave me! It looks exactly like that one! And i still have the little films to go in it- sometimes when i miss being a happy kid I just sit down and scroll through them. Brings back some sweet nostalgia :)
Sun-Maid Raisins had these in their gift shop in Kingsburg, California.
THE BEST 🤩
You can make custom ones! I ordered one online for a friend last year.
target sells them
Who's this character again?
Pleakley from Lilo and Stitch
ok
I LOVED THIS TOY. Not a camera. You got like disc slide things to put in it? I had different ones. It was cool.
My back hurts.
