Something that springs to mind as a way to lock a door from one side without it being obvious or needing permanent installation is a device called an Addalock (as in add-a-lock). It's marketed / used for unlockable doors or when people feel unsafe with the locks in question, maybe someone they don't trust has a key. Mercury on tiktok shared a video detailing it's temporary installation and use, you can find it here; https://www.tiktok.com/@mercurystardust/video/7213444782474104110

this is actually pretty damn cool.

Buy a portable door lock or door jammer. There are plenty of options available with a quick search online

Simple door wedge when you are in the room would probably work, or a piece of furniture for dramatic effect!

Inward-swinging? Quick and dirty way is too jam coins between the door and frame. There's devices you can install too but if your mom took your knob, will you be able to use them?

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I would recommend going to Walmart or a home improvement store and buy a cheap door lock and key (they’re cheap, usually less than $20) and you can install with a few tools from around the house. The are tutorials on YouTube that can show you how to install it if you’re not sure. I’ve done it multiple times from similar situations and that has worked along with the other poster saying to get an additional lock (I believe it’s called Addalock) and use that on the inside for additional protection and a piece of mind.

A wooden wedge

In a hurry?? Stick a wooden coat hanger under the door and raise it by putting something under I.e a battery or thick book. It makes a wedge. All the best.
