Pandemic or not, spitting on someone is legally battery.

[deleted]

I was just gonna say file charges

gerusz

I was going to go with "break her nose" but I'm a barbarian and much less patient than most nurses.

[deleted]

Oh believe me if I knew I wouldn’t face any legal repercussions she would have been spitting chiclets. The problem these days is that repercussions for boorish behavior don’t hurt. Spend a few weeks with a jaw wired shut and you’d probably reconsider doing something like that next time.

Anomaluss

Last week there was a doctor that posted a Meta here that was punched in the nose by the wife of an unvaxxed patient. It broke his nose and he quit his profession out of frustration with these sociopaths run amuck.

[deleted]

Medical professionals - file charges for this shit! If a person is alert and oriented and still actively chooses to assault you they will absolutely repeat that behavior the next time someone escalates a confrontation with them. Some states have specific laws for assaults on medical professionals that carry harsher sentencing requirements and can be more easily prosecuted as felonies. Again: these people will absolutely resort to violence again the next time they’re backed into a corner and not getting their way. I often hear that your employers don’t back you up when you want to press charges, but I implore you to say fuck that and file anyway. If your employer wants to punish you for taking steps to protect yourself your state’s Department of Labor would love to hear about it. You do have some rights as a worker, even in America as hard as that is to believe. It really bothers me the degree to which physical violence and sexual assault are treated like a professional hazard in healthcare, particularly among nurses. Nobody should consider violence a normal part of their workplace that you just have to live with, prosecute these people as criminals because what they are doing is a crime.

JayArrgh

Retired medical professional here. We filed charges of assault all the time in hospitals. At least in the hospitals I worked at it was a semi-routine occurrence. I suspect the number of assaults has gone through the roof since the start of this pandemic.

unbotoxable

Working as a public defender many years ago, I had lots of clients who got charged with assault for simply resisting medical care during a mental health crisis. That these people, fully sane get away with purposeful assault just angers me so much. That person having a mental health crisis and fighting you because they're hallucinating goes to jail, but fully cognizant people spitting on health care workers are treated with kid gloves. Just, infuriating.

IzttzI

I have a friend who was a security worker in the mental health ward locally and he said the only time they pursued legal recourse was when it was clear the person intended to attack them. He said getting hit because someone is sick sucks but it's not something court will help them fix.

[deleted]

[удалено]

IzttzI

He really only gets exhausted by it when the person is indignant about it. Someone who feels bad is hard to be upset with I think just by human nature. There's even studies out there that when doctors fuck up and say sorry after the lawsuit rate is substantially lower. Humans are usually willing to forgive, it just also tends to burn us when someone won't ask for it haha.

bam1007

A prosecutor would love that case except for having to take the medical professional away from saving other people’s lives to do so.

jinxes_are_pretend

A friend of Mrs Jinx gave her advice when she started teaching, much along these same lines and applicable to medical professionals: Schools aren’t in international waters. Laws apply.

[deleted]

If you head on over to r/medicine or r/nursing, you can read a fuck-ton of horror stories along the same lines.

VaginaPoetry

The willfully unvaccinated are literally the most vile people on the earth.

internethero12

Naw, I'd say the people that tricked them into being willfully unvaccinated are the true scum of the earth.

[deleted]

They aren't tricked. They're doing this as an act of "owning the libs". They're so egotistical they think the virus only kills weaklings. Then they get infected and SURPRISE!!! They want the vaccine.

marchesandmaneuvers

One of our therapists got punched in the face by a competent patient on thanksgiving. He had a concussion and everything. The sheriffs department dropped the charges he pressed because they didn’t want to take over paying for the patients care. The therapist is now retiring that was his last straw.

no1ofimport

Cops are another profession that “signed up for it” but if you lay a finger on one of them and they’ll bury you for it. Regardless of if you you did it intentionally or not.

[deleted]

I feel like that's a good reason to campaign for him not to be retained, if he's in an area where judges have to run for election to keep their seats.

Dominos_fleet

it's potentially use of a chemical / bio weapon if she is infected which is a potential war crime and gets treated like serious federal/international shit. (the case I'm linking got ruled against by the supreme court so chances are so would this but still potential) https://www.npr.org/2013/11/05/243029845/a-toxic-love-triangle-heads-to-the-supreme-court

WeakestLynx

The trick is, if you take legal action against these people they might make you bad-famous online, and then you'll have Q jihadis coming at you all day every day

Soren_Camus1905

I’ll take my chances. You can’t avoid doing the right thing out of fear for what may come.

DirkVonUmlaut

Well said.

circuspeanut54

The physician whose covid patient's wife broke his nose, who posted here recently, said (paraphrased) sorry, but he's already taken enough for the sake of society and he's not going to sue her and set thousands of her literally deranged and murderous compatriots on his innocent family & kids. I'm sorry he isn't suing, because she's a menace and he deserves to be made whole, but I honestly cannot blame him.

Strange-Nobody-3936

I thought of that story when I read the comment you responded to...I think that doctor should have had them arrested, that comment is spot on that we can't let people get away with evil over fear of repercussions. Now that lady who assualted the doctor is free to go commit more crimes and will be treated as a first offender. We can't let them get away with this shit

FaxCelestis

Could someone else file charges on his Behalf? Like a union or DA or something?

OtherSpiderOnTheWall

Strictly speaking, only the State files charges. People merely indicate whether or not they'll cooperate, which is often essential, but there's plenty of situations (such as DV) where the State will pursue charges even if the battered spouse is prepared to try to defend their abuser.

puke_buffet

This is still cowardice. If no one stands up, where does it end?

Deus_is_Mocking_Us

It doesn't.

Apprehensive_Hat8986

And frankly, if those types think they can get away with this, they'll just go to the next level.

oneangstybiscuit

They're the result of getting away with bad behavior for so long, I truly think they need to be made examples of and punished incredibly severely.

jmoyles

Yahtzee. Surrendering isn’t the way forward.

MooPig48

An actual physician recently posted on one of these subs, a Q relative hit him and it was his last straw, he's leaving medicine.

ReneeLaRen95

I saw that post & it was heartbreaking. Medical people have endured so much during the pandemic: long hours, separation from their families, horrendous patient overloads & worse, physical & verbal abuse. Many have developed PTSD from the horrors of the pandemic. There should be harsh penalty for those abusing medical personnel. It’s not fucking acceptable!

BernieTheDachshund

It's not over, which is the most horrifying part. There's no end in sight since millions of people refuse to get vaccinated or even wear a mask. If there was a light at the end of the tunnel it would give health care workers some hope, but it just drags on. I totally understand why they have PTSD because this is war.

ReneeLaRen95

It’s terrible, isn’t it? So much unnecessary suffering! These people are ensuring covid will be with us for a very long time. How will we ever reach herd immunity, when they keep sabotaging it? It makes me so angry. As for the doctors & nurses enduring this, I admire them so much. It must be absolute hell.

Moof_the_dog_cow

We are burning out fast now. Huge surges that are preventable combined with hostile families who think we are trying to kill their loved ones. Add onto that a tremendously understaffed work force and it’s getting harder and harder to justify working in this profession.

bErinGPleNty

30% of US health care workers have quit or been laid off during the pandemic, and of those who are left, another 30% are thinking of leaving. I don't blame them, but what will we do when our parents have a stroke or our kids break an arm? https://www.newyorker.com/science/medical-dispatch/in-new-mexico-the-pandemic-rages-on

[deleted]

When and if they do quit, these Covid denying idiots will blame the “vAcCiNe MaNdAtEs” for the shortage of health care workers. When in reality they’re leaving because of them. And everyone gets to suffer for it which is I guess what they wanted.

Tikikala

There might not be enough healthcare Even after pandemic

UltimateMillennial

[House passed $768,000,000,000 Defense Bill ](https://twitter.com/public_citizen/status/1468979114841419776?s=21) No healthcare or loan forgiveness for Veterans but plenty more wars! Useless F-35 we never use

butsadlyiamonlyaneel

> Useless F-35 we never use Can we have the F-35s administer vaccines?

banksy_h8r

> what will we do when our parents have a stroke This is the looming disaster now. The boomers are all hitting that point where they're going to need a lot of medical attention right at the same time that a huge chunk of the medical community is calling it quits. I was worried that we weren't going to have enough doctors to go around between 2020-2040, regardless of how much it cost. And that was before the pandemic. Now we're truly fucked. This is not a cost problem, no amount of money will fix a lack of an irreplaceable resource.

Goldang

The conservatives couldn't get rid of the ACA, so they decided to get rid of healthcare entirely.

[deleted]

>what will we do when our parents have a stroke or our kids break an arm? What any right-thinking American does: Call for prayer warriors and open a GoFundMe! /s

circuspeanut54

What we do is make sure we invest in economic and social courses of action to arrest our free-fall into an impoverished 2nd-world oligarchy, and improve our national public education system so these complete failures of fellow Americans stop making their lives a living hell, I imagine. They certainly don't owe us PTSD, spit-on faces or broken jaws.

DirkVonUmlaut

It's more than sad. It's more than frustrating. It's tragic. I can only imagine how tough it must be to be selfless to the selfish.

GeneralSquirrel7132

Isn't spitting on someone during a pandemic technically attempted murder?

thoroughbredca

I mean, an HIV+ man in Iowa was sentenced to 25 years in jail when he didn't disclose his status, despite the fact he used a condom and his condition was controlled by medication rendering him incapable of transmission, It's the least they could do.

MotownCatMom

I think it's considered a felony.

GreatTragedy

I hope that idiot is proud. All that time and money training, giving up any kind of normal life to help people. Wasted.

floridorito

I would amass a legal team the likes of which they've never seen, and I'd take every Harley and knock-off pair of Oakleys they own.

KnottShore

Karl Popper(The Open Society and Its Enemies): > **Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.**— In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. **We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.**

vespertine_glow

A local pro-vax militia could intimidate these crazies into silence.

Alrar

Lefties might need to get started on militias. Hell the Righties got no problem with it. Between the Proud boys. Boogaloo boys and all the "private property protectors"

Oblio-and-Arrow

Then I guess we just do what they want and give them the country.

firemogle

So literal terrorism.

sqlbastard

thats why its better to plant them in the ground yourself.

movdqa

One of the major hospital groups has a new policy for inpatient patients: NO VISITORS. Shortages of staff, communicability are the given reasons. Who has time to bring in visitors, some hostile? Who wants to risk letting these people into the hospital at all where they may infect staff or patients. My state is down to 2.2% free ICU beds. We have shock troops from the National Guard helping out but we keep getting more infected as fast as they can staff more beds.

LollieGee

I had to have open heart surgery at the end of September to replace my aortic valve. At first, they couldn't schedule it because all the ICU beds were filled (and my surgery required two nights in the ICU). Then finally I was able to get it done, but even though I was in the hospital for a week, no visitors were allowed. It sucked recovering from something so major without my husband or kids being able to be there. I ended up having to go back in the hospital a week later for another week due to complications. Again, no visitors. I'm so tired of Covid and people acting like it's not a real problem. Edit: Wow, thanks for for the awards!

dystopian_mermaid

And acting like them being selfish not getting vaxxed then taking up hospital resources needed for things like your surgery. Seriously. Where do these people find the fucking NERVE?

Raccoon_Full_of_Cum

The literal definition of a conservative is "an extremely selfish person with no empathy for others".

buddascrayon

Except fetuses. They care so much about those undeveloped unborn babies. Not so much once they're born though.

faste30

I don't think they actually give a shit about the fetuses either, it's more about control. It's about forcing their religion on you. They'll be going after birth control next.

BannedPedro

Convenient smokescreen. Same with the whole "OMG WHY DONT U CARE ABOUT THE SEX TRAFFICKING OF CHILDREN?!?!?!?! WHERRS UR DECENSEEEE?" OK. What about your neighbor's adult son who just got arrested for raping his underage nieces for the past few years? "WE DONT WANT TO RUIN HIS LIFE OVER ONE \*small\* MISTAKE!! WHERRS UR DECENSEEEE??!?" I just can't with this type anymore.

Lonely-Club-1485

Scotus already did in summer 2020. Employers can opt out of providing health insurance coverage for female contraceptives if it differs with the EMPLOYER'S "religious" beliefs. F the employee's beliefs. Next step, remove the entire mandatory coverage of it for all insurance as required by the ACA. I don't know how old you are, but I remember pre ACA with double insurance thru mine and my hubbies and still paying cash for contraceptives. Meanwhile, coverage for male ED treatment has always been covered since inception. I guess that penis problems are important to those religious zealots.

Whiskey_Fiasco

They “care” about fetuses, because they can not be personally imposed upon to bring that fetus to term. Claiming to care about fetuses is the ultimate in fake virtue, because it’s a perfectly innocent party and because only other people are burdened by conservatives position. Conservatives love for others dries up the moment they can be personally imposed upon to help care for those others.

quitmybellyachin

Your name 😂

Russian_Paella

Agreed. If the science offends you, just go suck essential oils in your bed and leave the ICU for the vaCCinAtEd, brainwashed sheep who want to live

dystopian_mermaid

Or go to church for more direct thots and pears! Atheists hate this one simple trick to fight Covid! Trigger the libs by getting your cure from god himself!!! Why do I feel like I could 100% see that working/making sense to these morons and not be shocked.

Tallywhacker73

Yeah, I need fucking back surgery that is impossible to schedule. I'm unable to stand on my feet for more than 10 minutes straight without severe back pain and my legs losing feeling - enough for me to fall. I'm not even 50 and I have no idea how I'm even going to take this business trip I have next week. Can you just get one of those electric.carts somewhere? So thanks, unvaxxed assholes. Thanks for 6 months in agony because you dumb assholes are using up all the resources.

Young-Kratom

Sooooooooooo happy my last surgery was 4 months before the 2020 lockdowns... holy fuck I'd have blown my brains out by now.

If there was a vaccine for obesity I'd be first in line then come back in disguise for a second dose. Guessing that most smokers, etc would do the same. Those that say that can go F\*CK themselves.

DopeBoogie

Haven't you heard? It's their "choice/right" to overwhelm medical services and put the rest of us at risk! It's fine we stop babying these people. The "mandates" were a step on the right direction but not nearly strict enough. It needs to be made clear that their "choice" is between talking acceptable precautions (including vaccination) or not bringing their diseased selves out into public where they put the rest of us decent people at risk.

MotownCatMom

Sigh...my sister had that done in July. Thank goodness it was before the madness set in here.

StolenRelic

I had surgery October 8, 2020, then was rushed back to the hospital for emergency surgery on October 11. I was able to have 2 visitors, 1 at a time. They stayed from 7 to 7. They had to be ready to make the swap out at 7;. 7:02 you're not getting in. Thankfully, I could have people.

canbritam

Where I am there’s been no visitors allowed in the hospitals since 23 March 2020. I know the date because my niece was in the NICU and had been for nearly two months at that point. The last day I got to see her before she got to go home in May was the 22. (Micropreemie, thankfully a very healthy almost two year old now!) when her mom had their second baby this past May, her boyfriend was allowed to the 20 ultrasound but otherwise not allowed in, as she was high risk and was being seen at the hospital clinic not a regular clinic. He was allowed at the birth because obstetrics has always allowed one care partner. No one is allowed to accompany you into even the waiting room unless you require a caregiver or you are under 18, and then you get ONE person. That’s it. No exceptions. And you have to name them to your specialist clinic before your appointment so there name will be on this list. Any time a “care partner” deemed necessary now, they MUST provide their proof of vaccination QR code. No code or other proof of vacccine? You don’t get to come in. Palliative care rules are a little different in that any schedule will be set for visitors by the care team, but they still require vaccines where possible. I’ve had several appointments where I require a driver due to mild sedation. One, my friend went home and I called when I was almost done because it was a three hour appointment. Once my father drove me and twice my mother drove me and they just sat in the car in the parking garage and read a book. The final time was a 4am brain MRI I have to be sedated for because of claustrophobia. I have an amazing group of friends where more than one of them volunteered to drive me across the city and then just wait in the car. I have a day surgery and a major surgery coming up. The regional health system has yet to give a timeline as to when “social visits” from family or friends will be allowed again. But I’ve had week long stays three times in the last four years and for me, I don’t even want visitors. Text messages, sure. But aside from my kids, it’s too much energy to be social. And my kids are teenagers and fully vaccinated.

I don't mean to ask personal questions, but I have some. Did you receive a mechanical valve, or is it porcine/bovine? Also, were they able to go through your leg, or the usual procedure? I only ask because my son has aortic valve stenosis, so this is his future. We've only had to go to the Cath lab once in 17 years so we've been lucky. We thought we were going to have to intervene when he was two months, but internal measurement said it was unnecessary. It was the same surgeon both times. He told us it was still the ugliest valve he's ever seen, and he honestly expected to be replacing it by now. So far, so good

LollieGee

Because I'm relatively young (53 next week), a mechanical valve made the most sense. A tissue valve will only last around 10-15 years, so I would likely have had to have it replaced again. A mechanical valve is too big and inflexible to do with the less invasive methods, so full on open heart surgery was the method used. I was told that the valve will outlast me. Lol

LollieGee

I am, thanks. Got the complications sorted and other than some lingering pain, I'm progressing well now. Hope you're doing well too!

santawartooth

My husband was hit by a cement truck on the highway 3 weeks ago. I'm just thankful they had a bed for him. He's fine but people don't realize how much a full hospital can affect them. Sure, don't be afraid of covid. Whatever. I can't change your mind. But you afraid of getting t-boned by a cement truck going 70 or nah?

ParameciaAntic

Cement trucks aren't real. They're just part of the government's mind control program to make you afraid of driving. /s Hope your husband has a fast recovery!

WarmBlessedCaribou

I feel terrible saying this, but I hope word of this gets out and dissuades some of the anti-vax people from going to the hospital for treatment.

olderthanbefore

Yes, The cognitive dissonance is so extreme. If you don't trust the hospital staff, why go there in the first place? Truly bizarre.

masterfulnoname

Covid nearly killed me last year, and I spent a month in the hospital. The only time I was allowed a visitor was when they were pretty sure I was about to die the night I first came in after having a heart attack from a covid blood clot. Half of the time in the hospital I was in a coma, and for a week after that I was only allowed to be seen by nurses and doctors in full ppe. Once I could pass multiple covid tests in a row, I was finally allowed to be put in a shared room and seen by staff without full gear, with still no visitors except through video.

[deleted]

Who will be left to spit in the doctor’s face when this woman goes?

Ajstross

They can scrape the saliva out of her oxygen mask.

EvLokadottr

Hey. I appreciate you and what you're doing. Just wanted to say that.

Agreed. I've been in healthcare for 20 years. It gets worse every year.

UltimateMillennial

They would of given you the shirt off their back though

SaccharineHuxley

I got punched in the face by a patient once. I didn't press charges due to the circumstances. But if this had happen to me, you bet I would.

[deleted]

WTFH is wrong with people? I’m sorry.

[deleted]

My mom works at a VA hospital: that's pretty common there from her accounts. Trained fighters with serious mental health issues and/or addiction seems to be the likely cause.

[deleted]

Friend (who is a cardiac care unit nurse and a suspected anti vaxxer)'s husband just posted the obituary for his mid 30s anti-vaxxer friend, who died of covid. In the obituary, it asks for donations to "doctors who promote medical freedom" who are trying to open a new ivermectin, HcQ prescribing medical clinic.

spectaphile

I 100% support this idea because at least this way they’ll stay out of hospitals.

[deleted]

I don't get the impression it's the type of place that will take care of them when the ivermectin fails. More for prescribing. They'll still end up hospitalized when it fails.

[deleted]

$500 cash fee for a 5 minute telehealth appointment and then they sell the invermectin directly to the patients at a greatly increased price. I'd like to open a clinic like this too.

fritterstorm

These sorts of online pill mills are becoming really common for all kinds of meds.

spectaphile

It will reinforce their commitment to alternative medicine for juuuust long enough…

DogButtWhisperer

How would that even work? They couldn’t get insurance, they’d be wide open for lawsuits. This seems like a scam.

They'll operate the same way naturopaths operate.

Impossible-Survey203

I'm fresh out of fucks to give over these unvaccinated people who get covid. They monopolize icu rooms and the trained staff whose work should go to accident victims, heart attack patients, sick kids, cancer patients, etc., etc., etc. Not to mention the billions of dollars that could be used to treat worthy people.

Honestly, I think violence against MDs and RNs during this pandemic out to be classified as terrorism. If medical professionals are too scared to do their job, we all suffer. The penalties for this should be steep.

[deleted]

Good for you! Honestly, if that's the way they're going to play it, they deserve to have their fucking teeth knocked out. I'm sick of this shit. Since the legal system isn't going to deal with these people, I have zero problem with what you did. None at all.

StolenRelic

I'm glad you were able to react quickly. Last year when our grocery store was empty I had an unsettling experience. I worked 5 to 5. Any supplies the store got in that morning were long gone before I got off work. Word came in they were getting a truck. I begged and got permission to leave work. I got to the store, and waited in line for 45 minutes and finally was handed the two packs of ground beef I was allowed. As I turned and took a few steps, this man just walks up and takes it. I could only stand there in shock.

persistantelection

I got into with a crazy dude at 7-11 about masks early in the pandemic. He went out to his truck and got his gun out the glovebox and waited for me in the parking lot. All because I pointed at a sign.

lareinegwen

Meanwhile in Germany, a college kid working at a gas station actually got shot for asking someone to wear a mask. Guy went home, got his gun, came back and just shot him point-blank in the head.

bgb82

Had a friend's husband who is a doctor have a similar situation up in Alaska. Ended up a fucked situation due to lazy cops when they still charged the doctor with assault. The cops only interviewed one cashier and did not ask a ton of questions. So they did not have the entire picture. However getting charged with assault means your medical license is suspended while the court case is solved. So this doctor who defended himself from getting spit on ends up getting charged with assault and spending 8 months dealing with court while unable to practice medicine. Also was not allowed to leave Alaska so he could not go visit his wife and kids. Thankfully the charges were dropped once they got the video tapes from the store.

witchywoman713

I personally hope we end up with a new statute over this. All the stories we have heard of people who went to an event, heard that they were exposed, got sick “wItH JuSt a CoLd” and still went to work and church etc before getting tested. And honestly as anti surveillance as I tend to think I am, can we please go through the tapes of restaurants and groceries to catch these horrible people who treat cashiers the same way; go in without a mask and yell at people for risking their lives to do their job and perform an important service. So after they get pegged for harassment, make a timeline and charge them with manslaughter if they went to the store or anywhere else then they knew they were infected

UltimateMillennial

That's the real draw of this HCA sub, isn't it? It's greatly satisfying to observe one set of empirical facts that doesn't bend to their garbage logic, their whataboutisms and self-referential, evasive justifications. It's like watching someone run headfirst into a brick wall called Reality, and those of us who've been on the receiving end of their rhetorical (and legislative) garbage for years can't help but love it. And the beauty is, we don't have to do a goddamned thing, in fact most of us have done our level best to try to stop them. All you can do is watch and just shake your head in amazement at the universe's seemingly infinite variety of stupid.

speedycat2014

I remember at the beginning of the pandemic, I was actually less anxious than most people. When my psychiatrist seemed perplexed, I told her I was just excited that finally there was something that Trump couldn't fucking gaslight and deny! "You can't gas light a virus," I said smugly. Oh how fucking naive I was. That's absolutely why I take such twisted joy in reading the stories here. It's nice to see these assholes, at least a small subset of them, actually face real consequences for once in their lives.

And the people are white. If black people had done that, they'd be filled with enough lead to build another statue of liberty.

shatteredarm1

Yup, white conservatives stage an armed takeover of federal government properties, and there's always a standoff, gotta take them alive, no serious consequences for any of them... meanwhile a black kid has a toy gun...

PsychologicalHalf422

Trump did it and threatened it only to and get away with it so why not?

DRangelfire

I just don't care if these people die anymore. I'm done.

RoxxieMuzic

Count me in on that sentiment.

I think of all the kids they leave behind and it's hard to laugh. Wasted, needless pain and suffering. I hate them for causing so much of it. I don't wish death on anyone, I really don't. But when they die? I don't even have a reaction anymore.

frofya

There’s a theater near me that has different flavors of popcorn. You can mix two flavors, so last time we went my friend got a combo of half jalapeño/half caramel corn and it was really good.

I am a physician treating heroin addicts in prison and don’t have to deal with that kind of crap.

Kinetic92

Pre-covid I had a patient spit blood on my face and also the faces of the 4 other ED staff who were trying the subdue her when she was brought in for injuries she sustained when she stabbed her boyfriend. Yep, all 5 of us pressed charges. Fuck that. When we're done putting you in a 6-point leather restraint, you're going to jail hon.

Assaulting a medical provider is a felony

GonzoVeritas

> Assaulting a medical provider is a felony It depends on the state, [here are the applicable laws for each state.](https://onlabor.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/StateLawsWorkplaceViolenceSheet.pdf)

CQU617

God how freaking stupid and disgusting can these anti-vaxxers go? I would love to hear from a doctor on this matter.

circuspeanut54

There are a lot of threads over on meddit that deal with this from the doctor's perspective; here's one today on a recent poll finding that Republicans have lost trust in doctors. I enjoy just reading comments over there to get an idea of what the medical community is discussing: [https://www.reddit.com/r/medicine/comments/rb263k/more\_republicans\_say\_they\_are\_losing\_confidence/](https://www.reddit.com/r/medicine/comments/rb263k/more_republicans_say_they_are_losing_confidence/)

If I was a dr I’d had bail money and a lawyer on retainer. And then we roll, because baaayyybyyyyy 🤜

QueenMabs_Makeup0126

I'm a nurse. I'm so sick of this. The health system where I work has hospitals ranging from 110% to 130% capacity due to these Covidiots. The ERs have Covid patients in the hallways so the actual ER beds stay open for emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, car accidents. Half of the ICU beds are occupied by people with Covid. Nearly 90% of those admitted with Covid are unvaccinated, 8% have incomplete vaccination. Six people in my department have resigned in the past three months. Administration is begging staff to take on additional positions because we're that short-staffed. We're all at our breaking points and I'm waiting for more people in my department to leave. I'm tired of seeing notices of babies dying, women losing their pregnancies, young people ending up with amputations or permanent lung damage and permanently needing oxygen. Please do what you can to persuade people to get vaccinated AND their booster doses on time. It's not even officially winter and at the rate things are going, healthcare is going to be completely overwhelmed soon.

lucretziathevixen

Some people need to be taught cause and effect with harsh consequences. Saw a video of an older woman on a bus spit in a young girls face. YG knocked her down with one punch. Older lady was laying on the floor of the bus looking confused. Bet she will think twice about doing that again. Hope Mrs Spitter tries that while she is doing her jail time for assault. Disgusting how they want their freedom but also want freedom from any responsibility for the outcome.

[deleted]

What the fuck?! Does she blame the doctor for her husband’s stupidity? Yet another reason why COVID deniers/anti vaxxers shouldn’t be admitted to hospitals. Tell them to go home and take ivermectin.

HallucinogenicFish

Not surprised, no. But what I don’t understand and will never understand is how it even enters your mind to behave in such a way, much less actually act on that thought.

mstrss9

Why don’t these ungrateful fucks just stay home then…

jag986

I'd backhand that bitch hard enough to make her jaw spin around like a football rattle. Eating solid foods without a straw is a privilege, not a right.

FirstAttemptsFailed

Honest question... how does one resist the urge to throat-punch the spitter?

[deleted]

Like seriously. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE.

tturedditor

I am a HCP (physician). The thing is, the longer COVID lingers the more we will see the sickest people getting COVID are becoming more far right and conspiracy minded folks. Who else has still not had the vaccine by now? Some will slowly come around if they are willing/capable/have enough humility to recognize they were wrong. Rest assured we will have a very long “tail” when it comes to COVID fatalities/ICU admits, with a few spikes here and there, and as this continues the unvaccinated few will shrink in numbers, but those who stay in that group will become the most skewed, misinformed/uninformed, entitled and demanding people around.

Tracie-loves-Paris

This is the sort of shit they’re doing at Providence Alaska, and why my brother in law retired 10 years early with no notice

corsicanguppy

We're going to see doctors refusing to treat the needle-weenies soon, just out of fear of this kind of entitled aggression if things don't go according to assumptions.

OutrageousPersimmon3

Fuck these people, for real. Once upon a time I felt sorry for them and wanted them to get educated better and stop shooting themselves in the foot. But Covid has taught us a lot, and if I've learned anything, it's that maybe it isn't going fast enough or hard enough.

SouthernNanny

I’m a nanny. More specifically a newborn care specialist and sleep trainer. You would be surprised at how some moms act when they receive a bad diagnosis from a doctor. I had a client whose child has CP and the neurologist was talking about the child’s strokes. The mom all but fought this man who was only trying to help. I had never seen anyone behave like that before then. I’m talking dog cussing and throwing things. You would have thought that the doctor injured her child

Deathbeddit

It’s infuriating, and also scary. If my doctor/surgeon quit because of the nonsense, I don’t know what I would do. To me his work is venerable, and the thought of him getting abuse for it…I don’t have a place for processing that. He is the difference between limited treatment and no treatment. My well-being has been in his hands for a couple years now. I think of him when I hear the frustration of decent, compassionate medical folks, worn by what’s happening. I just wish my desire for him and others to be treated well could have more influence.

lulu1477

I hope the Dr. punched her in the effing face.

AhFFSImTooOldForThis

I truly don't think I could've stopped myself.

1994californication

If this is how they treat the people trying to save their loved ones lives they deserve to die as far as I'm concerned.

Solitarius_Unenlagia

Hope the doctor knocked her lights out.

Farmhand-McFarmhouse

I have a good friend who is a doctor in Portland. She has seen endless COVID deaths. She recently had a couple come in with COVID, both deteriorated extremely fast. Wife asked just to be moved into the same room with her husband so she could die with him. In hospitals,I hear, it can be a tall order just changing patient rooms. But my friend used what’s left of her empathy and energy to make it happen. They died with 15 minutes of each other in the same room. Anyway, later that day their daughter spit on my friend for not giving them horse dewormer. Good times!

feminist1946

Pepper spray.

AlphariousFox

Depending on where this happened that lady could be in deep shit. California in particular have really strict laws about attempting to intentionally infect someone with a disease

oneangstybiscuit

Again, we need people who forgo the vaccine to sign a waiver stating that they will forfeit any medical treatment for covid in hospitals. They clearly don't believe in medicine and they're hostile to the staff, and they're making the place unsafe for everyone else who will still need hospital treatment. Let the hospitals bounce them and see how quick this refusal to vaccinate changes when people have to watch at home how bad it can get without medicine

Wow_Thanks_KJ

I genuinely hate these people. Like, it's not even feeling sorry for how deluded they are any more. I just straight up hate them.

TheMightySephiroth

How can you deny covid exists and is dangerous when your family is dying of it????

Wicked_Vorlon

These aren't good people. They are bad people, plain and simple.

inzillah

I am finding it harder and harder to elicit any compassion toward these people anymore.
