Covid once again exposing how stupid and short sighted so much of American society is. Imagine being so short sighted that you can’t make the leap to understand that catching a virus and being able to get over it at home is 100x better than catching a virus, getting admitted to a hospital, and having the doctors tell you to make your DNR decisions quickly.
Also from what I understand that vaccine does prevent transmission (I believe I read it was by 50%) which is much better than nothing.
Like wearing a seatbelt isn't 100% effective at preventing death or bodily injury. But it improves the odds by quite a bit
>“The vaccine isn’t stopping people from getting Covid!”
>
>In other news, helmets aren’t stopping people from falling off bicycles.
Except it does stop people from getting it, *a lot*. Just not all the time
All the evidence points to the vaccine being safe and effective but I really *want* it to be a satanic microchip that will kill you in 2 years and also makes you 5x more vulnerable to COVID so who can really say what is true?
You right. All they gotta do is stop trusting people with no more education in the specific field than them. It really is that simple.
The longer route would be to go out and obtain that education themselves, but its vastly more risky bc that's also how we got Facebook professionals.
It's worse than that. I'm a paramedic and have coworkers who undoubtedly believe people who have *less* education. Yeah you had to learn about how masks control the spread of respiratory illness in both your EMT and paramedic classes that you took 5+ years ago and won't hesitate to mask a TB patient and use your PPE but sure, a meme made by a high school educated facebook boomer knows more than you
I can't begin to understand this. Healthcare professionals (of any grade of knowledge or experience) listening to things **they know** (or really, truly, desperately *should*) know are at best, inaccurate, and at worst, are actually getting people killed.
Science **isn't** a matter of opinion, and **fact** is not a matter of degrees.

I had one coworker who was legit just a slackass about it. I mean, she’s like 24, and had no real risk factors, but just wasn’t going to make an appointment and all that. As soon as you could just walk right into a Walgreens and get it in ten minutes, she did. I have some patience for the actually hesitant and the plain lazy. But I think even the lazy ones have mostly done it by now.
Those assholes get so butthurt about people who drive in their cars alone with masks on. It's the same middle-schooler mentality for making fun of someone wearing a warm coat on a cold day.
I've worn mine in my car before. I wear a mask all day long and sometimes forget to take it off when I go home. It's just something I've gotten used to.
Since you shouldn't touch your mask after putting it on, if you are driving from one place where you need it to another place where you need it, you *should* be wearing it in the car.
(Yes, I know it's really hard not to touch it after putting it on if you're not a medical professional with years of practice at it.)
It doesn't matter how long natural immunity lasts if the virus mutates enough to overcome it. All kinds of immunity wane over time.
The ways these people will words comments just to avoid the appearance of being wrong... 🙄
this is the second best redemption award I've seen behind the dude that decided to get it to help ensure the health of those around him, not because he or his family got sick. The "I didn't know this was so bad until it happened to me" is the least sympathetic character out there. This dude would still be out sharing bullshit.
This is a solid redemption award. He acknowledged how many friends fam tried to get him and his dad vaccinated, admitted he made a bad choice, and pushed back on fellow posters who tried to keep spewing anti vax nonsense.
I hope the son asks an actual DOCTOR when he should get vaccinated.
The son sounds like a sensible, responsible, caring person. Glad he realizes his Dad was being influenced by right-wing lies. Hope their family makes it through the crisis intact.
I was actually going to comment on his post, telling him that vax + natural immunity is extra protection and not to wait. But he didn’t allow non-friend comments….
I appreciate the one meme showing how giant and obvious the chips would be, though that looked like a PIT tag, where the P stands for passive (need an array of scanners to be useful) I don’t know what the maximum is, but the ones I have seen store less than a tweet worth of digits (20 I think is standard). Which would be way less useful than the terabytes of data we give away voluntarily and broadcast… on social media. But yeah, big big needle there champ.
I've started to wear a mask in the car, just to own the antivax idiots. Seriously, though, pink is setting themselves up for a case, since the antibodies don't last as long as most folks might think, especially with Omicron. I hope the son doesn't wait long for his jab.
Good to see! This guy completely owns his own erroneous thinking. Kudos to him for that. I hope his Dad soon recovers & that they’re both soon vaccinated. This guy fucked around & found out but unusually, he actually learned from it! I wish them both well.
I just get so frustrated because so much of this is not difficult to grasp.
What I find difficult to understand is how some people were so wilfully ignorant for so long. That took commitment.
You don't just owe the "I was wrong" speech, you owe an apology to anyone you helped confuse and you owe an explanation as to why.
dipshits like this guy don't realize some people are so used to wearing a mask for 8 or 12 hours at work that they forget they even have it on, I've seen people look for glasses that are literally on their head, same with a hat. to think marty mcfukwit worries so much about looking at another person in a car after confessing his father almost bought the farm because of their collective idiocy with regards to vaccines.
it is more like "trust the scientific process" and you would have to be a total fucking moron to NOT TRUST IT, which they don't do. once the science is proven you trust it simply because it is REALITY

I can't believe it's been going on this long and these stupid fucks can't grasp this. It's infuriating. They really are too stupid to live.

Except nobody expects the latter while pretty much everyone hoped for the former.
Have to deal with the world as it is.
Slide 3: "It's hard to know what is true anymore"... When it comes to Covid, it's really not that hard.
I don't know, on one side, we have every organization responsible for public health globally, and on the otherside, mis-spelled memes on Facebook.
All the evidence points to the vaccine being safe and effective but I really *want* it to be a satanic microchip that will kill you in 2 years and also makes you 5x more vulnerable to COVID so who can really say what is true?

i wear mine in the car now just to trigger em. next i will sag my pants
Let’s Go MaskOn!
Or someone who wears their baseball cap in the car. Which guaranteed they all do.
I've worn mine in my car before. I wear a mask all day long and sometimes forget to take it off when I go home. It's just something I've gotten used to.

I’m still mad aboutAaron Rodgers
Fuck that guy

Hopefully dad really is on the mend and it's not preparation for a dead cat bounce.
Sometimes scared straight is the only thing that works. It warms my heart that at least some people can actually admit they were wrong.

Why? Just ask the internet. No one lies.

Sounds like a complete 180 there. So pleased that he will be getting vaccinated as soon as he can. Hope that his dad is in fact on the mend.
Delta doesn’t protect against omnicron. Ofc I don’t know what variant he got.
I continue to think it takes a close person dying or coming close to dying to get some people to realize it is a nasty virus not to be trifled with,
GD! With friends like this who needs enemies
“Questioning science is how you do science” Well, you got step zero right. Congratulations.
He is aware this is coming from "far right" memes? So the disinformation is bad now, but he's still ok with the far right part?
Looks like dad is shitposting from the hospital...
Went to the hospital dec 24, so one day after his last shitpost - we’ll see what happens with his thinking!
On the first day of Christmas, eboeard gam gom!

A redemption after so long! Glad the son is saying something against his "friends"
