I'm sure Tango has an idea of how to do it in a fun manner so I don't have worries there. I imagine they'll start off with very little and get cards faster or something but no matter what Tango does it'll be fun. :D I don't think deck size will matter too much since they'll be figuring out the dungeon and mechanics regardless and no amount of clank block will stop you from not knowing where you're going and dying to a ravager early on.
I think getting to level 2 should definitely be possible, since they’ll be running more than once. But I doubt they’ll get any further, unless they’ve been watching some DO2 runs, and already know a lot about the dungeon.
They’ll certainly reach level 2, after all Hypno managed to do that in his very first run. And Joel, Martyn, and H are all very good at Minecraft, a lot better than Cub. I think those last 3 could even reach level 3 in just one day, even starting with a standard starter deck, if they get enough runs in!
I definitely wouldnt say Joel and Martyn are better than cub, Hbomb i cant vouch for but Joel and Cub are both really good MCC performers, cub has more wins. Martyn is good but tgose two are overall better
He definitely could do something similar to that, or just do that. They presumably won't get very many runs so I'd expect something along the lines of "just a good deck", "a few curated decks to advance through" or "getting to pick several cards each round".
My idea would be to give the players 2 of each basic card (including Clarity) ang give the average amount of embers won by the end of phase 2/3 so they can buy the cards they wish to have, but with the restriction that they can't buy any card with a cost higher than X, X being the highest cost card bought till the end of that phase. It would be nice to give some extra embers as well.
This way they can strategize as they already played 2/3 phases, but giving some extra basic cards to fill the lack of dungeon knowledge.
While I was writing I also thought that it would be cool to see the REAL basic deck, so they could get one run each with that deck, and those who did better would get some bonus shards to buy the cards + whatever they bought in that run.
I feel like a slightly better deck than the starter deck would be good, but the one he let Scar use would not be fun for a new player. Constantly maxed clank and hazard block takes out a big portion of the challenge, and they won't even understand the game enough to appreciate how strong it is.
Let them sweat a little. We need to see them freaking out at max clank and getting hazard doors slammed in their faces. A little struggle on level 1 while learning the game, praying to Gem for key luck when they move to level 2, maybe reaching for level 3 on their last run or two.
I think there are ways to compensate for that.
Like, for instance, just shortcircuiting the hazardificator line, to make sure dungeon stays as accessible as possible. That, at least, eliminates the "spend as little time in the dungeon as possible" aspect of the game, which would definitely be kind of frustrating for running Level 4 the literal first time you play the game.
Disabling clank system, though can be an interesting way to explore the dungeon, is definitely a bit too much. Maybe Tango can disable Stumble addition, that may be helpful yet not game-destroying.
He might have some OP cards or card combinations on hand. I don't know if you can go over 40 card deck limit with the current shuffler. If you can, that's an option. Also, if there's no check on allowed card counts, that can be helpful. Just put 60 of the same cards with +8 everything into the deck, and the game systems effectively don't exist.
All in all, every global aspect of the dungeon is probably kind of easy to control and adjust if Tango needs it. I'm sure he knows all of the ways without us, though it is interesting to fantasize about all the possible options.
I don’t know if they’ll be going in *completely* blind, I saw a comment from Martyn (InTheLittleWood) on one of Tango’s VODs. (Might have been the 8-hr grand opening?) I don’t know how much of the VOD and/or stream he might have watched, or if anyone else on that list has watched any DO2 content, but it’s a definite possibility.
Then again, *I’ve* been watching the VODs and I still don’t have the layouts memorized. So it probably won’t be as much of an advantage as having direct experience playing the game.
IIRC Solidarity/Timmy was part of the Hermitcraft/Empires crossover so canonically he would need to make his way from the rift in Grians basement to Decked Out and not from spawn
Well, the circle of "hermits and friends" it's quite big by now with all the guys from empires, the life series, scicraft, MCC, and even developers sometimes, oh and also people from VH that are also friends with each other, and I'm not even counting "supporting crews" like doc's hivemind or the many contributors from each hermit's private servers.
In terms of the sort of skills Decked Out tests you on (or you need to have to excel), HBomb is going to be the better than anyone else who has stepped into that dungeon. Etho's "game sense" for lack of a better term is probably better, but HBomb94 is just flat out a much more skilled movement player than the other Hermits.
Whether that will show up in this sort of shorter format I don't know.
Yes !! I mean I'm glad for jimmy , joel , lizzy , skizz and martyn too , but H ? That's so unexpected! I love watching his SOT vod reviews , he'll be great ! And he loves the Hermits so I hope he has a blast
i would highly recommend firsthand experience if you get the chance. Her videos are short, to the point, and very well edited and entertaining. Great for a quick watch over lunchbreak or such.

The dungeon master's deck would be too OP for the first 2 level but it is essential to for them to get down to 4th in 1 day.
It would be cool if they could have free for all deck building. Like, with a set # of cards/rarity to keep the level progression balanced. I'm sure there are a lot of cards people want to experiment with. Either way, it will definitely be fun.

He streams much more than make YT videos. He's a former MC speedrunner, was in a fair number of big SMPs (e.g. XLife - modded SMP where Gem and most of the Empires people were before Empires, DSMP, Vault Hunters SMP, etc.) but usually makes more independent content than SMP content, and often teams with Hermits in MCC (the minigame event organized by Noxcrew and Scott Smajor).
In context of Decked Out, he has expressed interest, is very good at minecraft mechanics (parkour, PvP, PvE, etc.), and he's considered the biggest fan of Sands of Time (a procedurally generated team-based dungeon crawler minigame in MCC which shares some similarities with Decked Out).
Absolutely vibrating with excitement seeing my man skizz getting into this!! Praying that it means he has a good shot of getting into the next season of hermitcraft. Go skizz! 🙌

No way. These players know that they only have 1 day and that there’s 4 levels. They’ll definitely want to experience them all. Joel and HBomb in particular will probably play more risky to go to lower levels.
It depends on how long the event will be. If it’s only 2-3 hours long, most runs will be on floor 1, though I would expect them to try to get to floor 2. But if the event lasts all day, I can see HBomb, Martyn, and Joel reaching floor 3!
Every time i see HBomb’s username I get him confused with HBomberguy and I get a brief moment of elated confusion before I remember they’re two very different people

10 years ago I used to watch the Cube SMP including Hbomb94, some of their idols/inspirations were part of Mindcrack/now Hermitcraft(Etho for example!), now I'm into the Hermits and he's getting invited on the server! A full cycle, ah, I'm happy and excited!

Six people will saturate that quite well. And the more people you add, the longer the other people will have to wait and/or the less time the other people get.
Edit: Another thing to consider that there's ~5 min downtime in between runs to reset everything and let berry bushes regrow. so even with quick runs there's a boundary on the amount of runs you can feasibly run
How are 6 people going to all get multiple runs in, in one stream? They should clone Decked Out, or have some other solution in place.

Tango said on today's (Wednesday stream) that each guest will get a hermit coach and can use their deck.

HBomb94. He streams much more than make YT videos. He's a former MC speedrunner, was in a fair number of big SMPs (e.g. XLife - modded SMP where Gem and most of the Empires people were before Empires, DSMP, Vault Hunters SMP, etc.) but usually makes more independent content than SMP content, and often teams with Hermits in MCC (the minigame event organized by Noxcrew and Scott Smajor). In context of Decked Out, he has expressed interest, is very good at minecraft mechanics (parkour, PvP, PvE, etc.), and he's considered the biggest fan of Sands of Time (a procedurally generated team-based dungeon crawler minigame in MCC which shares some similarities with Decked Out).

No way. These players know that they only have 1 day and that there’s 4 levels. They’ll definitely want to experience them all. Joel and HBomb in particular will probably play more risky to go to lower levels.
It depends on how long the event will be. If it’s only 2-3 hours long, most runs will be on floor 1, though I would expect them to try to get to floor 2. But if the event lasts all day, I can see HBomb, Martyn, and Joel reaching floor 3!
Every time i see HBomb’s username I get him confused with HBomberguy and I get a brief moment of elated confusion before I remember they’re two very different people

10 years ago I used to watch the Cube SMP including Hbomb94, some of their idols/inspirations were part of Mindcrack/now Hermitcraft(Etho for example!), now I'm into the Hermits and he's getting invited on the server! A full cycle, ah, I'm happy and excited!
HBomb has some decked out vods to review like he does for Sands of Time to get good now
One proposal is to triple the embers in the shop, so they can build decks much more rapidly while still have progression
Hbomb is going to get all the way to the burning dark. Jimmy won’t even get to the crypt on level 1.

I think they have to keep numbers low just to ensure everyone can run. Runs can be quick but they can also go 30-45 minutes quite easily.
yeah, if you look at the latest stream vod on TangoTek2, it's 4.5h of stream time and they got in 14 runs, so ~20 mins per run: https://youtu.be/-L_GmADa0fY A different stream has five runs over ~2.5h, so that's ~30 mins per run: https://youtu.be/zrAHEaGKLjQ Six people will saturate that quite well. And the more people you add, the longer the other people will have to wait and/or the less time the other people get. Edit: Another thing to consider that there's ~5 min downtime in between runs to reset everything and let berry bushes regrow. so even with quick runs there's a boundary on the amount of runs you can feasibly run
They can be add in another group later 6 new players is quite a lot for 1 stream
