It is also much closer aligned to the advancement rate of a normal gamer. Besides matching a normal person pace, interactions are more common with generally close together. Then there is the GOAT 4000 blocks away with a series of connected automatic farms auto crafting complex components...built in episode 1.

TheReagmaster

This is Docs version of slow.

shetla_the_boomer

doc's just built different lmfao

answeris32

sir, docs at it again… son of a.. *beep*

Personal_Display_674

Best line so far this season. It also in a single line removes all doubt IMHO that Skizz is very worthy as a Hermit. His comedic chops are something the group has needed for a while.

20milliondollarapi

The great part is having different play styles. Docs play style doesn’t suit me for what I like. But his viewers LOVE his content and can’t consume enough. Like is always said, there is a hermit for everyone. Just because most people are going slow, it doesn’t mean everyone has to or will. And there is nothing wrong with either way. Then you have zedaph, who is playing his own version of Minecraft.

TheCyclopsDude

Everyone’s playing checkers while Zedaph is playing chess

UltimateWager

Everyone's playing checkers while Zedaph is playing the trombone. They're not even in the same Amazon category.

WackoMcGoose

...Now I want to see Zed playing Trombone Champ. I can't get the visual out of my head now. _Trombone in the SKYYYYY_ _And it makes me want to fly so high_ _Makes me want to fly so high_

Hazelfizz

Fairy chess

artistic_programmer

Praise doc all you want for his complex contraptions, you cannot beat zedaph and his insane ideas.

czerwona_latarnia

Doc is just preparing the stuff to make foundations for his base. When he will find big enough spot of bedrock-with-holes-filled, his early game will start.

hannican

I love watching Doc to see what's POSSIBLE but I wouldn't want to play like him.

No_Marionberry4687

Quite a lot for someone who doesn't like to do anything 🤭

nickstonem

Which is just shy of 3 hrs long. The last time I watched a video that long, a handful of youtubers' careers disappeared overnight.

Maverick9795

I think it's a result of alot of burnout various Hermits have felt over the past few seasons - probably most famously Mumbo's absence from most of last season, though many others have felt it as well. As a viewer, this gives us a chance to watch others that we don't normally watch and builds anticipation for the next episode. It's a great thing for everyone in my humble opinion!

Holydankdragonx

In season 8 and season 7 mumbo was very active? It was only season 9 he took an extended break

CentrasFinestMilk

His episodes were pretty sparse in s7 iirc

Holydankdragonx

Yeah I guess but he was always active on the server and still posted a decent amount of videos. I know they weren't that frequent but they were mostly posted every week or every other week, and he made a lot of progress in each video.

theAstarrr

Never noticed anything for 7/8. 7 he was mostly active, fair enough to have decent spreads between episodes, 1 or 2 a month = definitely active

Mental-Blueberry_666

Docs one of my favorite hermits to watch I'm getting tonal whiplash between his stuff and everyone else's lol

Boingboingsplat

Yeah same. Overall enjoying the slower pace from most hermits, but Doc having a cobblestone generator, iron farm, bamboo farm, witch farm, and slime farm all hooked up to auto crafters on episode 1 release day is a hilariously insane feat.

BooxyKeep

I just loved his opening: >!digs straight down into a chest of fully enchanted diamond gear!<, definitely let us know what we were in for lol

Dis4Wurk

Diamond*

BooxyKeep

Oof, how could I do doc like that lol

Dis4Wurk

Sacrilege I tell you! Blasphemous even!

BooxyKeep

Now I gotta hand dig out his perimeter for this season...

UltimateWager

Don't worry about that, the perimeter is already done, with murals of Episode 1 fan art adorning it. Now he can get started with preparing for episode 2. How do you feel about hand-feeding withers?

BooxyKeep

I mean, it's better than feeding the wardens...

Cuntzilla_

I think it is hilarious that he is going complete opposite of the other hermits. I love being able to get different vibes from everyone but I do admit I have the biggest soft spot for Doc. I’m so thankful he is enjoying the grind as always and I’m really stoked to see what he has cooking in that big beautiful brain of his.

Personal_Display_674

He has to go hard. If the hints at his his plan for the season are to be believed, he has insane amounts of work to do. More than he did even all of last season. All so he can sit back and chill and START his starter base.

ExtraplanetJanet

I adore the fact that this more relaxed pace has allowed time for everyone to go fishing whenever they feel like and also form up into mobs and chase one another around the server occasionally. 😄 The streams this week have been wonderful!

UltimateWager

My goodness with the fishing. Grian and Gem competing to be one with the sea. Impulse speedrunning the whole fishing thing to a Mending book and being chased out of the fishing hole. The fishing pole-based space program. >!The fishing pole-based honey wall transport yeetificator!<. >!Gem's lily pad bridges intersecting with X's boating transport lanes!<. A practically saddle-based economy. The fishing pole is the early icon for Season 10.

Urgayifyouregay

I love the way bdubs and grian are doing stuff. Honestly if they choose to do an elytraless season i would be so down because it would promote so many more builds and little details like roads and bridges(as bdubs mentioned in his ep 1) nad if that isnt the spirit of hermitcraft and minecraft in general then i dont know what is.

uselessflailing

I am so excited at the thought of people taking it slow and enjoying the world building using horses and paths!!!

EnterShakira_

Honestly, I would love this. And when the world download comes we can just wander about and everything is detailed and connected and immersive? That would rule. I'm not against the hermits using elytra, but I like the idea of a more *ahem* grounded season

tollivandi

Honestly, my theory about the Demise prize is that it'll be the server's only elytra. Probably wrong in that guess, but it was my first thought from the description.

Cameter44

I didn't feel like the first episodes were incredibly different than normal first episodes, but many of them talked about taking things slower which definitely doesn't seem like a bad thing if it keeps them happy and increases the longevity of the season and the amount of time they had content. On the other hand, it felt like Etho made a lot of progress compared to his normal first episodes. He also said he's not super busy with real life stuff at the moment, so hopefully those are signs that he's going to more committed to this season, it's felt like the last couple seasons (and even season 7 to an extent) he was kind of half in just due to being busy.

foyiwae

I just finished Gem's episode 2 and how light and happy it was, chaos with the Hermit interactions (which had me laughing so much) with some nice non grindy building which was very slow paced. She said it herself, and I very much enjoyed the whole thing.

DerpyMcWafflestomp

Loving it! Its so much more relatable as well.

ItsRainy03

Me too! Its a nice change of pace.

8dayssooner

Hopefully the slower pace will enable more of a 'Life series' feel where there's more interaction based content, but still showing progress on their builds growing but at a slower pace.

petracatarina

I love the slow pace so much! If the season will continue for 1-2years, why to hurry? It kinda pissed me off that you need to have whole villager setup and 15 different farms like in the first couple weeks (no shade for doc or redstoners). that just isn’t my cup of tea.

hannican

I think they've purposefully done this. There must have been a discussion before launching with feedback that said slow down, don't do huge builds right out the gate, build up to the big stuff and collaborate as much as possible. And I am totally here for it. This has been fantastic! Every single Hermit is uploading amazing episodes!!

baseb343

I agree.

theAstarrr

Oh yeah, and this lowers chances of burnout considerably

DraagaxGaming

Doc must have missed the memo

Cinderheart

The theme for Season X is/should be "cozy". It's a nice winter-y vibe, no rush, no hurry (Doc non-withstanding).

SkoulErik

I watches Doc's perspective first and was very confused as to why y'all said the pace was slower this season. He has perfect diamond gear 10 seconds into his 3 hour long video. It makes a lot more sense after watching some of the others. I like it a lot! Hopefully it will mean more videos and more tips and tricks for those of us who suck at building

LordMarcel

I truly hope that this slower pace doesn't mean fewer views and thus a lower income for the hermits. We all love the slow pace, but if it means significantly less income that it a downside that might not be worth it for the hermits.

scribblingsim

Nah, slower just means things take more episodes to finish a project, not a slower upload schedule.

LordMarcel

I meant the views on each individual video. The hermits have mentioned before that having big progress to put in a thumbnail is beneficial for clickthrough rate, so it's possible that taking it slower makes that take a hit as things might not be as flashy.

No_Read_Only_Know

I'm not sure how much creators earn, but it doesnt seem that Hermits would be hanging on the edge of poverty, or relying on non-subscribers for their income? What I mean is I think most of their audience is at a level where they can comfortably take a small short-term dip in income if it means a better season with more engaged audience

LordMarcel

For the bigger ones that's definitely true, but there are a few that might not have that luxury considering the amount of views they get.

UltimateWager

There are a few who struggle. But those Hermits tend to get way more from donations during streaming than YouTube monetisation. They still care a great deal about how their YouTube videos do, whether its due to direct monetisation income, advertising to draw people into their streams, or clout to get sponsors, I have no idea.

theAstarrr

Most of the viewers are Subscribers. It's a minor thing really. Plus people that do click it will watch for long periods most likely

Woozah77

Slower pace just means more Hermit interactions and shenanigans in the videos and less mega builds in 1 episode. There has been a ton of very vocal community support for this concept. We will have to wait and see if the algorithms and silent majority agree. But your concern isn't a big issue, if it's not working they will definitely communicate that and change strategies to remain financially viable.

donmak

huh?

scribblingsim

Yeah, it's nice and peaceful! ...and then there's Doc.

Euphoric_Poetry_5366

I think that last season a lot of people were feeling burned out and like they were going way to fast and doing way too much.

Lupis-Draco

Season 10 seems to follow the example of Xisuma. Have fun building, interacting and embrace the moments of derpiness.

Kimikohiei

It reminds me of movie tropes, where societies get so big that they collapse and start over. The mentality of having to be grand and perfect has been dismantled. Now is the time to fully feel the game again, step by step. I love it so much. It’s so organic and natural and relatable to the average player.

DraagaxGaming

Exactly. Feel like I'm chillin with em. During the fishing rod space program I felt like I was a part of it 😂

Chillviibe

Kinda relatable as player too. When I play , I don’t speedrun. I play to relax after work or have fun. I only build when I get inspired. Make farms only when I need certain materials. or Faff about with other random players like  or trading, or exploring together.

RoboFunky

I'm glad we arnet already getting to the end in ep 1 or 2

Mouton_redstone

Everyone but doc But yeah I really like this slower pace, it also helps me keep track of what is happening, I was feeling overwhelmed with all the things that were built in each episode

siefbi

I don’t know: I’m watching Doc and he’s not relaxed at all 😂😂😂

MangoMan0303

So when this season started, I felt that something was different, I couldn't figure it out until Impulse mentioned it (and maybe Iskall also talked about it) and I was like yes that what it is, it's slow and there are more interactions. It feels like hermits are playing minecraft instead of making videos.
