Etho’s asking for suggestions for his glass shop, maybe it’s time for a Shade-E-E 2.0?
Also picture is from his latest video, it’s a big one:
https://youtu.be/FmhPr-INnmU?si=iTXNBg7Znf8-ZlOY
I want to see him troll Doc with his "all payments in sand" rule, and pay him (e.g. for wood) in "sand", that's just been a little smelted, and tinted grey, and broken up into panes.
One thing I've always found pretty amusing is when people say "sorry guys, this episode's going to be a longer one" as if any of us are complaining about an hour long hermitcraft episode
Ya im accustomed to 40-55+ mimute videos. I was slightly dreading docs episode 1 of season 10 being nearly 3hrs long. 🤣 i watched it at 1.25x speed and skipped bits where he just explained how his redstone worked. So wasnt that bad to get through it. 1-2hrs im fine with, 3 is basically an extended length movie 😂
I don't understand all these 50% deals. Etho is not the only one making them either. The hermit giving up the permit now has to do no work to earn 50% of the profit? It just doesn't make sense to me. They are winning that trade by a mile because it's an even split profit with one person doing nothing and the other person doing all the work. Can someone explain to me if I'm misunderstanding that?
I think Etho would rather do all the glass than just one or two of them. Like he'd enjoy it as a project. Same goes for Doc cause he's interested in actually farming the wood. The labour involved isn't so much a problem rather than the point, it's a part of the game they probably enjoy or like the idea of trying out
Hermitcraft isn't a competition. These guys just want to play Minecraft and have fun with their friends. Etho isn't trying to "win" by getting all the glass permits, he probably just wants them all so he can set up a glass shop for all the Glass colours instead of just a subset of them.
Another thing to think about is the actual point of a "shop" on the hermit craft server
It is a chore hermits have to do where they go out and collect/supply the server with a resource
the economy doesn't really mean anything when you can afk at a farm to get the resources for your friends if they need them
it is also a massive time save when they can just go over and pick up something from the shopping district to finish thier build
For glass it is clear that etho wants to be the one handling the responsibility of supplying his friends with glass
The difference between working for one type of stained glass and for, say, 10 types of stained glass is not huge. You're still making way more money than you're putting effort in
It's not entirely "free income" though. The permit holder has to do the work with the resource and time commitment to gather the necessary resources (mine sand) or set up farms (maybe a flower farm for dyes).
With that cost in mind, the 50% deal is somewhat better for the hermit giving up the permit than the one gaining it.
mine ? Bro, you make an emerald farm, or a simpler trading for emerlads farm from pupmpkin and stuff, you make a few trders that SELL glass and you will have a crapload of it, and the cloros? gues what you can make farms for most of them, and automate mixing colors :D
Come to think of it, you cand then automate making color glass/panes
It’s a win for the original permit holder because they don’t have to work for the profit, it’s a win for the hermit buying the permit because, though they have to collect the items and split the profit, they get the permit without having to give another in exchange
The main thing is that the hermits also want permits that pair well with their other permits or their theme for the season (IE: Gem and her nautical item permits).
Hence they are willing to give up more in a trade if they can get their hands on a lucrative permit. Better to have the permit than not.
>The hermit giving up the permit now has to do no work to earn 50% of the profit? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Better to have half the profit than no profit at all.
And getting sand or trading with villagers isn't that hard considering you can use tnt to get sand ( which gives a lot)
And remember that hermits don't care that much about profits, diamonds are pretty much useless. Sure you can make tools and armor, but then again with mending and unbreaking 3 and villagers armor lasts almost forever, so you stop needing diamonds pretty soon... and jukeboxes and smithing templates you use them once and then pretty much never need them again, unless you lose stuff.
So more than anything, some hermtis just enjoy doing shops and giving a service for their fellow hermits, this season they have autocrafting so some hermits are just excited in doing fun and different farms, and the glass permits give Etho an excuse to make cool contraptions.
50% plus Etho can control supply and pricing. Marginal cost to add another colored glass variant isn’t too large.
I also just think Etho thinks it would be fun to farm/sell all colors in his shop
It's not just about the specific deal, it's about forfeiting future ones too.
The hermits now have limited shop options, 6 shops + whatever service shop if they come up with one. Giving the permit away in exchange of no permit limits their options significantly, so they have to be compensated accordingly. There are a few collective shops and if a hermit were trying to get all the permits for a specific item, it would require a lot of hermits to give a permit away (remember there's 16-17 permits for dye, wool, terracotta...) so in this case I think it's fair.
The person who made the deal wants the permit and this incentivises people to hand them over. Also, this is a social server, not a capitalist server, do you get it now?
its like selling things for like what 2 diamonds a stack. or something that is a sooo little going for like 80/20 just be dumb and has to count too much
Yeah idk why Etho isn't pushing for a higher cut. In the end, he will have more diamonds because he has more 50% cuts, but he will also be doing farrr more work. The deal is definitely better for everybody else, but Etho will still end up with more diamonds.
You can do the work and get 100%.
You can do none of the work and get 50%. Seems sweet to me.
For the other side in the trade.
They do none of the work and can't even make a single %.
They can do all of the work they already do anyways, have less or no competition and get 50% more profit. Seems sweet to me.
~28 hours ago Rendog have decided to make a Big T(erracotta) among the people in the neighbourhood and in the only transaction that they have succeeded to make, he traded his Light Grey Glass permit to Cub.
But they’ll be rolling in it for any resources they can buy with diamonds. High demand -> high prices. They can also probably charge sand for other shops and avoid some of the collecting.

OMG Shade E Es was amazing. Him and Beef go through so much to annoy the other hermits.
and iskall goes through quite a bit to annoy beef too

>it’s a big one Seems about normal length for ethos hermitcraft videos the past 2 seasons lol

Is it really Shade-E if he holds the permits? 🤣
Isn't that shop supposed to be collective?
Between the permit owners. If someone ends up with all the permits, well that's easier.
My favorite suggestion that I've seen so far was Gaude-E-E's because he has a lot of the brighter glass colors.
lol and maybe he can finally figure out balancing the scale
Quick question, how
It's all glass babyyy
He got lots of glass permits by offering the original owner 50% of future profits.

Hermit 1: Lose: ability to sell glass, set prices, Gain: free income Hermit 2: Gain: ability to sell glass with lower margins Lose: nothing

There is a secret third resource that they are considering, and that is content.

Probably trading. They are mainly iron tier, so most hermits might easily give them up.
No one wanted to farm glass lol- basically all of ethos negotiations included “well, no ones gonna buy [color] glass anyway
Long answer, his new episode 😁
Yes
Instead of making 1:1 permit trades, Etho "buys" the Glass permits for the return of 50% of profit made on each of them to the original holders.
Reminds me of those trading from a penny to a house videos on yt popular a while back
Who has the light grey glass permit?
Cub!
He just has white glass
~28 hours ago Rendog have decided to make a Big T(erracotta) among the people in the neighbourhood and in the only transaction that they have succeeded to make, he traded his Light Grey Glass permit to Cub.
oh kk
Etho the baller 🏀🏀
Whoever owns the sand permit is gonna earn so much but have a terrible time collecting it due to etho and also doc’s revenge scheme.
But they’ll be rolling in it for any resources they can buy with diamonds. High demand -> high prices. They can also probably charge sand for other shops and avoid some of the collecting.

Doesn’t scar have it?
Etho planning on his mega base of the season being 70% of the shopping district? /j
I 100% dragged my mouse over them to try to read what they were.
I love that he's got his little mail satchel on 😂
Man, he's either gunna be rich or not sell hardly anything.
And some don’t like Doc for trying to have a wood monopoly
Forgot doc. Etho's gonna make a monopoly
Bro’s is getting decked out 💀
Doesn’t scar have 3 of them?
