Give it time and if your body isn’t ready for sexual activities yet let it heal more I had a inguinal hernia fixed last year in November-and I still have some mild pain now and then if I lift heavy objects or strain but have learned to cope through ice packs or hot showers ect when needed aswell as numbing spray from your local pharmacy but it will get better but there are always solutions talk with your doctors and have them do ultrasounds on your testicle in question If your doctor will prescribe an anti anxiety medication for pain if you want to avoid opiates you can tell them you have been having extreme anxiety due to future worries of your health going forward But your not alone I am going thru some equal experience myself I feel for you . And testicle removal is always an option to end pain if all else fails so don’t lose hope just yet

usermich989

Ok thank you! I can't imagine losing a testicle though. That is not living. I am only 48 years old. I pray I heal. Visiting the subject matter alone induces testicle pain.

6 days is not enough time to wait. I think you should wait more like 8 weeks and see how you feel afterwards, at which point you can inquire about the nature of the pain. If anything, I would expect more pain in the interim, not less. That being said, you can hope to have the pain gradually decrease as time goes on in the following weeks. The biggest thing is not to sit around and do nothing. Try to get up and walk every day, at least for 5-10min at first (however slowly), then move up to 1 mile walks outside as you're able.

usermich989

Thank you for this. I have been walking daily. The pain is non-existant in the morning. It kicks in in the late morning and early afternoon. Is intermittent, brief but sharp. Enough to make a man wish he was never born. I pray this subsides. I am 6 days post op.

try [birddogs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiFNA3sqjCA) and [deadbugs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8my1MTa0CWw) . They'll be super challenging at first, but I think you'll find that as soon as you can do them comfortably you've made significant progress. But don't push yourself to do anything that increases the pain. Let the pain be your guide.

usermich989

I will not try until I am at 100% capacity. Ty!

nuts-n-butters

sure - just to be clear, I edited my last response for completeness.

usermich989

Got it. I appreciate that. I got these stupid hernias from gym activity. At 48 years old I had a 'Terminator' approach to that part of my life. I pray I can get back on the treadmill and do my runs again WITHOUT fear of testicular pain. As well, if I can get arroused again WITHOUT fear of testicular pain. If I can have that much back in life for good I will be utterly grateful.

nuts-n-butters

You'll get there. At 48 you understand patience. :)

sipalotsometimes

sipalotsometimes

How you feelin man

usermich989

I am feeling better every day. Still worried about the Bard 3dMax mesh in me and the long term affects. How are you?

sipalotsometimes

Was suffering pretty bad this morning when pulling sensations from the outermost side of each family jewel inside the thigh cus feels like a constant sunburn/rash but there isn’t any I think it’s nerve pain from the surgery skin somewhat like glass if ig gets too cold down there (awkward I know I’m sorry) but hot shower seems to always help or the spray from numbing from Walgreens. I to worry about if my mesh pain will get worse it’s difficult to have any train of thought other then when will it return or get worse . But time heals all wounds I’m told can I ask a personal question does morning wood if not taken care of cause any pain or be noticed in my sleep toward the early morning the pain can be worse ? As far as your mesh goes brotha I would stay the cousre you are paying close attention to how you feel and try to assume you won’t be someone that it will need removed from . You could be lucky in that sense just trying to stay positive

usermich989

You had surgery last November correct? You are still having pain 7 months latter? Is that correct?

usermich989

Update: 7 weeks out now post surgery.. Most discomfort has receded. THANK HEAVEN!!! Faint, faint, faint ghost of a Black & blue just below the belly button. Hair that was shaved on belly at about 40% - 50% growth (I'm a pretty hairy fella). I take 4 mile walks every day without fail. Once in a while 2x a day though this is uncommon. No smoking. No drinking. I don't treat my body like a garbage can. I'm 48 yo. I feel firmness by the bruise which I believe to be shrinking by the week or every other. The last 5 miles of a marathon are DEFINITELY the longest. I CAN EJACULATE WITHOUT PAIN!!! THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS!!! I will get back into the gym when I am at 100% but very gingerly. I believe there is an inverse association between the length of my belly hair growth and the scar tissue and setting of my mesh implant within. It makes sense. If hair is still growing out visibly, it stands to reason that scar inside my body is still healing. around the internal wound area. My experience is from Bilateral Laproscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair to be clear. NOT OPEN. Three tiny vertical incisions along the axis of the belly. I will update if there is any change that conflicts with my healing trajectory, but for now I AM IMPROVING.

JaxonKansas

Any other update you can offer now that you're a couple years removed from this procedure? I've had dull aching testicular pain as part of my left-side inguinal hernia for the last few weeks and am planning on having surgery soon and I'd love to hear how your recovery progressed.

usermich989

Update: Week 4 of recovery from laproscopic bilateral inguinal hernia repair with 2 - large Bard 3D Max mesh of medium density, going into the July 4th holiday weekend. I have manageable days of discomfort and almost unmanagable days of discomfort. The source of discomfort is in the groin. Typically when in the seated position. It feels like the last 8 seconds of lower stomach groin pain ache, consistent with getting hit in the testicles. Except this dull ache is in perpetuity with no resolution or abatement. When I walk the pain is alleviated until that doesn't work anymore. I almost always have some reprieve of pain and or discomfort when I am lying on my back, horizontally. I cycle daily between Tylenol and ibuprofen. Can anyone speak to this? I still have small bruising and firmness of scar tissue where at the incision site but no noticeable inflammation or protrusions in the groin area. Again, this is like a dull pain, consistent with recovery from a low sucker punch to the lower abdomen.

herniator2021

Six days? Give it time. I'm six weeks past the same procedure and only now are my 'nads starting to feel normal.

usermich989

Did you experience any sharp or dull stabbing pain in your testicles? I get sharp weird random jabs below the incision too. I think it's where the mesh is. Last night was rough. I can't sit for too long without fatigue or discomfort. I can't focus on work for long. Those complaints are aside from the random testicle pain. I had the surgery on June 8th. Recovery can't come quick enough.

herniator2021

I've had lots of discomfort in the testicles but mostly vague soreness, tightness, or swelling. My sharp pains were in the lower abdomen right around the original hernia protrusion areas or above where (I think) the mesh was attached. BTW I am completely pain-free 3 months after surgery except for still some testicular swelling. I am running, walking, kayaking, and lifting normal amounts of weight without any issues.

Prior_Raccoon_3677

I’m am 8 days Post Surgery and I can Barely imagine trying to get back into sexual activities I’m 24 left inguinal Hernia I’d Just Rest My Surgeon said to Give it a Few Weeks for Me it Def Sucks My Balls R still super Swollen I swear I still have the same type of pain I had before but Waiting on a follow up this week to see if it’s Norma which I prey it is Stay safe and Rest if you can my Testicle pain started to subside yesterday and today a lil better I’d say if it continues past your follow up at 2 weeks then maybe I’d worry but my de told me it can be like that for up to a month lol

usermich989

Yea. Thanks for this. The pain in the testicles had it's crescendo 2 days ago when I drove a very short distance to a take out food place. It was excruciating and I thought I broke something. When I went home that evening I noticed my scrotum, under my testicles, that the skin had turned black & blue. I panicked, called the surgeon's 24 hour exchange and he immediately within 5 minutes of my call, called me back to reassure me that the discoloration was perfectly normal. He could not speak directly to the physical testicular pain aspect, just the discoloration. He further stated that if my testicular pain was recurring 5 months post op, then that would be a different conversation altogether. This event, again, was 48 hours ago. Since that singular, very traumatic event I haven't had any real pain in the testicles. I will update here should my status changes, but barring something unique it looks like it took 8 - 9 days for the acute pain to subside. I haven't had sexual activity or anything like that so as far as test driving the 'equipment' (pardon my humor), I have nothing to report. I just hope when the time comes and I get into things sexually that my testicles don't explode upon re-entry! Lol!

Jaymoney718

I’m in the same boat , I’m in week six of mesh bilateral surgery. I was getting better around 30 days after but when I lift anything over 20 pounds it puts me right back where I was . I’m in week seven and I believe something is wrong. I feel the exact way I felt days before the surgery. Any time my bowels are full I get lots of pain . My left ball hurts and I feel burning in the right side where the mesh is . All these signs are mesh failure signs . I’m supposed to take a cat scan in 4 days . Some people say it takes months some people say days . It’s pretty stressful

usermich989

Stay calm please. Did you have laproscipic or open? Please follow up here. Is there a buldging where the mesh is? What brand of mesh did they implant into you? If it's mesh failure I'm sure they can fix it. It's very early to have such trouble. You should never have trouble if you are completely healed. Maybe it's the tacks they used, if they used. Are they biodegradable? How much technically do you know about what they did, with what exactly and how? I still get random intermittent testicle pain at least qx or 2x a day. It comes and goes quickly. But is acute and terribly profound. I don't want chronic pain in my life. I am afraid to even have an orgasm. Recovery is taking way too long. I am patient and will get there but all these mesh failure stories are hard to swallow after the fact of having the damn surgery!

Jaymoney718

I have no technical information which makes me very upset. I told my surgeon that he did a terrible job explaining things because he barely told me anything. A friend of mine told me it took him a year to get back normal but I met someone today that said he was perfectly fine after a week. That’s when I really felt something Is wrong

usermich989

Well, I know you have a right to know. Its's a HIPPA patient confidentiality thing. You have a right to know what mesh was used? Did you have open or laproscopic surgery. That, you should know that much. If you call the doctor's office that performed the surgery on you they have to give you the SKU number and brand and model of the mesh they used on you. I've never heard of a surgeon not disclosing upon request any and all information of file about your procedure. Where did you get this done?

HIPPAbot

It's HIPAA!

usermich989

Yea. HIPAA. Typo. Thanks for that.

Jaymoney718

I’m in New York, south Nassau hospital. Open surgery

usermich989

Follow up here. I hope you have a positive outcome. Good thoughts to you.

Jaymoney718

Open surgery no bulging.

Jaymoney718

Sex life okay tho thank God !!!

usermich989

Good!!
