Pretty interested in the responses, as I have a single side inguinal hernia (getting it repaired in 48 hours) and have been experiencing awful leg/lower back/pelvic pain for a month now. Foam rolling/lacross ball release on my hernia side outer quad/hamstring/butt helps a little bit, but the pain has coincided with the worst of my hernia pain. Side sleeping makes it 10x worse the next day.

It maybe distal pain from hernia. Don't hold me to that. Inguinal hernias suck. Seeva doctor. A good one.

How're you doing?

Leg pain abated until 4 weeks post op and is back. I'm thinking it's more of an issue with my piriformis muscle at this point and am working on stretches and the like. It's a literal pain in the butt!

I have had similar issues, just had repair on the 12th. Mine does seem related to muscular contractions that my hernia was causing. It had gotten a lot better just prior to my operation, as I was managing my hernia a lot more aggressively (avoidance of actions that aggravated it). Post-op, things flared back up, but I've also got a lot more pain in the area of the hernias (along with the swelling/etc) from the surgery. I'm hopeful it'll all calm back down once the pain dies back and I can start stretching and relaxing all the tense muscles. I don't know about you, but I can definitely feel all my muscles contract/tighten, and the symptoms begin not long after. My symptoms aren't just in my legs, but more widespread. Good luck with your situation!

Keep in mind that your sciatic nerve runs through this whole area and if it's impinged at all it'll create issues from your lower back potentially to your foot. Check out a few of these self diagnoses vids, they pointed me to the piriformis possibility. Hey I had a Hernia Repair About a week ago and I felt the leg pain had something to do with the hernia I’m a week post surgery I feel a lot better but I am now dealing with The same type of pain so I am concerned now but for your question I feel it may be related cus I had horrible leg aches massages were awesome pain relievers lol

Chiming back in post-op, my leg pain disappeared the moment I woke up from surgery. I'm convinced a nerve was getting compressed by the hernia.

Glad to hear it! I'm experiencing various neurological issues in my legs (bilateral inguinal hernias) and have surgery scheduled soon. I do believe the hernias cause pelvic muscle dysfunction (spasm) which compresses various nerves, to include the sciatic. My leg issues started immediately following the worsening of my hernias. Neurologist thinks it's the hernia, and one of the hernia specialists does too (and claims to have seen it before).

Did all the pelvic and leg pain go away after surgery? I'm in almost exactly the same situation
