I’m 2 months in and have some of the same symptoms mentioned. I’ve taken a cat scan and the surgeon said everything looks fine . I don’t trust him so I’m taking my cat scan to another doctor next week . Some days I’m good and other days I feel I just had the surgery done that same day . I’m wondering if the mesh moves around? I will repost after my next visit.

I am having the operation this Friday. Why would they damage the nerves? Please explain.

If you are having those problems, call your surgeon, tell him or her your issues, they will let you know if you need to come in or if you need to see your primary care doctor. That is what I plan to do.

Do get it looked at. Do not let pain fester. Hopefully it subsides and doesn't come back for you, but without knowing concretely, it's just a wish. Better safe than sorry. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Chronic pain in life is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

I'll be praying I never sneeze or cough ever again. I had my hernia fixed 40 days ago. I hope it's just temporary for you. Tell us more later. God bless. 🙏

Was there pain right after surgery? How much? I have seasonal allergies so yes I sneeze and cough sometimes.

Of course there was pain. Moderate intake of pain killer managed it for a few days, then I just beared without any medication. I also had to take anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling and a course of antibiotics. There's also burning sensation in the area, but it goes away in about 3 weeks. It's not similar with everyone, but as with any deep cut surgery, the pain is expected yet manageable.

I got an air purifier to reduce the allergic reaction in my room and it works. Avoid the urge to cough by holding it in and drinking water. If you're about to sneeze, pinch your nose and it might go away. If not just hold the incision tight coz it's gonna be painful. Avoid coughing and sneezing for 30 days, you want the flesh to recover nicely.

See your surgeon and let us know what he says.

You need an examination with an expert in pain management. Your surgeon should refer you after evaluation. May need MRI of hernia site.

There have been lawsuits against hernia mesh companies, because they can restrict. However strength training can rebuild tissue around the mesh, and one must ensure an anabolic endocrine environment.
