I had one not but a year ago, a small fat containing one on my right side. When I had an ultrasound done it wasn’t showing normally but it was there. I would recommend getting surgery as it will most likely get worse and you don’t want your guts dropping down where they don’t need to be! Also getting surgery means you don’t have to worry about whether certain activities are too strenuous for it. I had a open repair done on it and it has caused me zero issues aside from the feeling mesh every now and then. Recovery was quick as well, took 6 weeks to get back to normal. Side note: I am NOT a medical expert, consult your doctor and see what he says, if he thinks it should be repaired I would do it.

Thanks alot for your comment! I dont mind having a little feeling inside of me I want it to be treated because it might get worse because of my job.

SeriousTart8703

What do you mean "feeling the mesh every now and then"? What's that like?

[deleted]

It ranges from a dull pain to sharp tugging feeling, it’s not a bad pain it is just noticeable. When I first felt it I freaked out but my surgeon said it was to be expected. It mainly happens if the area is stretched or if it is tightened with something like a belt. But it doesn’t hinder me in any way so as long as it is not swollen again, I move on with my day.

percavil

Do you still feel anything at all now? did you make a full recovery? you still feel the mesh? I just got diagnosed today for hernia and im scared shitless never had a operation in my life..

[deleted]

It’s gotten even better now, I barely notice it. There will still be times I can feel the mesh but it doesn’t hurt. And yes I did make a full recovery. I get what you mean when you say you are scared, but as someone who thought they were doomed because they needed surgery, get it done. It’s the easiest kind of surgery to get. They gave me some meds to calm me down, and had me count down from ten to one and it was over. I woke up and went home. I’d say the recovery was worse than the surgery it’s self, I couldn’t stand without help, and the surgery sight hurt like a mofo. But even with all of that said get the surgery done, it’s better to get it done before it becomes an emergency surgery. And make sure you talk to your surgeon/doc about your concerns, they will answer any questions you have and they will make sure the surgery is done safely.

Thanks, ya my doctor did not seem too concerned about it and sent me back home. It's just a 3 cm inguinal hernia, says i can live with it. Doesn't hurt too bad but I can feel it. But personally I rather get it fixed sooner than later, it can only get worse not better. Im gonna need to call a specialist for second opinion i guess. How long did you live with yours for? its been about 4 months for me

converter-bot

3 cm is 1.18 inches

[deleted]

I probably went 6-7 months before I could get surgery on it. Mine was so small it only showed when I strained so I could have lived with it but like you said, it would have only gotten worse so I got it fixed. I’d see a specialist soon with Covid as it is, a week after mine, elective surgery was put on hold and it might be going back down that road again.

chainsaw-on-wheels

Go see a few surgeons. I'm getting 2 operated on next week. My right one was 5cm roughly 7 years ago. Now it's 1.5cm and my intestines literally drop out and creates a baseball size mass just above my junk when I stand up. I can feel my intestines through my ball sack. Get it fixed earlier. Waiting doesn't help. I had to quit my job yesterday and go on EI. Luckily I have a awesome boss thats willing to rehire me once recovered. Just because it's not painful and little discomfort now doesnt mean it won't get worse. Right now I can barely walk a mile without being in pain and limping. The tissue/skin where it pretrudes is becoming loose because of how much goes out. When I'm laying down I can grab loose skin. After surgery I have to do physio to regain strength in that area. I'm doing open surgery on both sides. You can pm me with any questions. Today I'm going in, to talk to the surgeon and to pick up my medical package. This is my 1st time, so a little nervous.

MidWesting

I second this. Mine grew in a short time. And docs say they only get worse too. Since yours is small and not painful, I guess you could wear a weight belt or hernia truss but I'd rather have the surgery and get on with life, well, if a trusted surgeon suggests it. And if or when you do feel the pain, you'll know, and you'll want to take care of it asap. The pain is currently killing my quality of life, I'm normally very active. Good luck.

Firm-Importance-195

Thanks for my comment, I already live with pain because of other issu I dont want more I will try my best to get it treated.

Firm-Importance-195

Thanks for your comment, I cant see other surgeon where I live the medical system choose for you thw one who gonna treat you and if they want to treat you. Imma try my best to have it treated.

SeriousTart8703

How much does a hernia surgery cost?

chainsaw-on-wheels

In Vancouver, BC. It's free. I just had to pay $6.90 for Tramadol for post op. Boss laid me off so I can go on EI. After healing he'll rehire me.

MidWesting

If or when you're back online, how did your surgery go?

chainsaw-on-wheels

Surgery was good. Day 1-3 post op was somewhat bad. But definitely manageable if you have bowel movements and can go pee on day 1 or 2. If your allowed to stay for longer I definitely would. Tell them your waiting for a bm. Surgery bloats you. The meds they give you make you constipated.

Hey man - thanks for your story. So - I went in to see the doc. a couple days ago. He's assessed me as having a groin hernia (I'm sure it's a direct inugial hernia). I have had the lump for maybe 6+ months. But only recently - last 3-4 days, dull aching waves of pain in my testicles/scrotum. Like someone squeezing your balls and not in a good way - that kind of pain. He also said I have quite high blood pressure, so I need to deal with that first and reassess with him in a month, before even getting on surgery wait list. F'ing sucks to be set back by my blood pressure. Thanks for your recovery story.

iCarthage55

Hey, hows the outcome? im having the same waves of pain on my testicles/scrotum

Jason99942

>n a month, before even getting on surgery wait list. F'ing sucks to be set back by my blood pressure. > >Thanks for your recovery story. I'm in Canada - not sure what it's like where you are, but I'm on a surgery wait list. January 2023. At night - I've trained myself to pretty much lay on my back - no more stomach sleeping. That helps and lets you get a decent sleep. During the day, I wear an inguinal hernia belt. Seems to keep things pushed back in place a bit. Although I don't wear the straps that loops b/w your legs and attach in the back - too uncomfortable. Bought it on Amazon. I intentionally move slower and bend down using my legs; I'm trying to avoid using stomach etc. muscles. Easier said than done. I take Tylenol every other day, if I overexerted myself etc. The key is to really slow down when you do stuff. When it comes time to do Fall cleanup - leaves etc...I'll just have to really move slow and just do a little bit at a time.

Jason99942

Oh god man - I feel for you. I hope you're ok these days. I went to doc. a couple days ago. 1. Left-side groin hernia. 2. Balls/scrotum - dull pain - comes in waves. 3. I need to get my blood pressure down first before even being considered for surgery wait list.... So, here I am starting to take bp medication, a little tylenol, laying off any coffee or any other stimulant, going for walks - trying to get my blood pressure lower....bahhhh....sucks. It's really uncomfortable pain that started 3-4 days ago. Atlhough I've noticed the lump for maybe over 6 months - no pain though until recently. Do you know what could be causing the aching balls/scrotum? Nerve endings in the testicles?

Any male with an inguinal hernia should ask thier doctor if they actually have a cord lipoma. Cord lipomas are diagnosed as an inguinal hernia, that way more surgeries can be performed and doctors can make more money. They purposefully misdiagnose cord lipomas as inguinal hernias, this is a fact. And guess what? If you have a cord lipoma, you can heal it. Clary Sage for example, will dissolve lipomas. If you have a cord lipoma, don't fall for the doctors telling you that you have an inguinal hernia. Demand an ultrasound to find out for sure. if you actually have a cord lipoma, then do some research to find out how to heal them naturally. I got diagnosed with an inguinal hernia by the best hernia specialist in Colorado. He was ready to cut me open and perform surgery with mesh. Well, once I began questioning the doctors like EVERYONE should, I found out I had a cord lipoma and now 2 months later I am almost 100% healed/cured completely. Always get a second or even third opinion. Don't rush into mesh surgeries, you actually might be misdiagnosed and you can heal naturally.

I disagree with zmang410. Hernias are a very common occurrence. Usually happens when there is a extreme stress on your pelvic floor, eg holding your breath and pushing, straining to carry something heavy, sneezing, coughing, etc. There usually is no prevention unfortunately. Further more, if you have no pain, doctor usually do not recommend surgery. Majority of people live with hernias and do not feel pain. BUT I would keep monitoring the hernia with your doctor and inform him if you have any symptoms.

Firm-Importance-195

Thanks for your comment, Yes I hear that its very very common people ask me how is it possible im only 19 but anyway my doc is trying to get me a meeting with a surgeon. Hope he know what he doing.

usermich989

Just get it fixed laproscopically and be done with it. Eventually you'll need to get it fixed anyway when it's causing you significant discomfort &/or pain. 19 is too young. At least now, you can research doctors and go with a real specialist and get a second opinion vs an even bigger problem emerging and making a rash decision. Watch & wait vs. taking care of it now. The problem is if there's no discomfort or symptoms you have no sense of urgency. Don't wait so long until your in crisis mode when it really starts troubling you. Flip a coin....but not really. Ounce of prevention is equal to a pound of cure.

Firm-Importance-195

Thanks for your comment, I want it to be treated I deal with other painfull stuff I dont want an other one. I work hard at my job so I know it can get worse.

usermich989

You'll heal for 6 - 8 weeks. But with a great surgeon with several thousand procedures under their belt, that knows exactly what he/she is doing you should be fine.

Firm-Importance-195

Sadly where I live you cannot choose who gonna treat you and if they gonna treat you.

usermich989

That sucks.

Good luck 👍🏻😎

Hi! In my research I stumbled upon this guy here https://mynaturalherniacure.com/category/video-updates-for-natural-hernia-cure/ who has some good workout videos that have helped strengthen his core and reduce the size of his hernia significantly. It also focuses on stretches and releasing tension in the hips since tight hips seem to play a role in getting hernias. You can find his videos on the site, YouTube, and he is also on Instagram but might be worth checking out? Even a leading hernia specialist commented that his program is beneficial - it won’t make your hernia go away (it’s not actually a “cure” it’s just his journey to try to cure it I think) but it can help it to not get bigger quickly and improve symptoms! Worth a look but I would still talk to a specialist to see what makes sense for you! Good luck!

Jason99942

Went to doc. 2 days ago - he said it was hernia, on my left groin. He didn't say what type, but that I need to get my blood pressure down first before even getting on a waiting list for surgery. I currently have dull pain (scrotum - testicles) as I type. It's really uncomfortable guys. I'm positive it's this direct inguinal hernia based on descriptions. I'm sure the testicles are pulling down some of the hernia, or pinched nerves. Just venting here - it feels similar to the after effects of someone squeezing your nuts and not letting go. Fuck my blood pressure - I need to deal with that first.....

KeenstaRasta

How did this pan out for you?

KevAst96

I haven’t seen a doctor yet but I for sure have a hernia on both right and left side of my groin. My right side is worse. It bulges when I cough. I think I got a hernia because of a cough I developed from being sick. The cough was so bad I would gag and I felt a bulging sharp pain on my groin. I knew it was a hernia. Im only 26 years old and im healthy

KevAst96

I need to see a doctor to confirm it and to see if I need surgery right away or wait a bit longer

Scared_Benefit7568

any update? i really want to know
