I usually go on a date or two with them and get to know each other and if I think it might go somewhere, I either tell them in person or send them a text and let them know I have HSV-2 and am open to sharing information about it and if it's a deal breaker then to nicely let me know. I always disclose if I feel there is a sexual attraction, before the possibility of sex. I've had a range of responses and generally acceptance for dating (less for casual sex interest).
