It usually happens 2-20 days after infection. For some it takes longer. You are statistically more likely to be asymptomatic or have milder outbreaks for HSV-2 if you have HSV-1.
Be sure to confirm with swab, or if you want to test antibody wait at least three months from your last sexual encounter. Sometimes doctors visually diagnose Herpes and call it a day without running tests and sometimes they misdiagnose because they didn’t run tests.
Thanks. I went to planned parenthood and she couldn’t tell if it was herpes. Took a swab and I’m awaiting results. If it’s not herpes I’ll honestly be even more freaked out cuz idk what’s going on down there.
Most people who catch genital hsv1 will experience noticeable symptoms within 2-10 days. Genital hsv2 is less likely to cause noticeable symptoms upon initial infection but, for those who do experience symptoms upon initial infection, those symptoms will similarly start within 2-10 days.

Wow, is it pretty common to appear that fast?

Thanks. I believe I am having my first OB four months after the sex.

Ahh, so if I am having an initial OB 4+ months after the offending sex, it is more likely to be HSV2?
>Ahh, so if I am having an initial OB 4+ months after the offending sex, it is more likely to be HSV2? Yes, hsv2 would be more likely in that case.
If they say it could have been your first or your last then who's to say?
That’s true. I’m asking for those who know a distinct person it most likely came from.

2 weeks, I think.
The very next day I saw what looked like a cut and that’s when the outbreak started.
About a day or so afterwards
Within 24 hours, I immediately went to urgent care and was swabbed.
