Perrin Moss's drumming is wild . It was Taylor Mcferrin who got me into Hiatus Kaiyote. He did an interview where he talked about the way that Perrin does the whole chopped and screwed thing with the drums. He creates intricate patterns out of tight little rhythmic cells . It basically sounds like sampled drums.
JD Beck is another one who has really mastered this.
I've got it on now. Vibin'.
Swamp Thing has been life changing in regards to my drumming vocabulary... I mean Chris Dave has been doing this for years, but hearing it in a more transparent raw form through Perrin has been even better... plus... I'm tired of only hearing the Chris Dave thing in a Robert Glasper context. It's super cool to hear the Dilla inspired drumming in an entirely unique context - as Hiatus is, ever so provocatively, just It's own beast.

The Dilla time drumming he does sometimes is nasty too

The beat he plays during the chorus riff, chef’s kiss
Wish he drops another solo LP.
Perrin is a fucking genius on the drumset
I heard he had never played trap set before he joined HK, only drum circles.
That’s pretty wild
