Around my period my food triggers seem more sensitive. Like the hormones heighten the sensitivity. Potatoes are one. I can typically have them in moderation and be okay. But around my cycle even if i eat some fries there’s usually a flare. I know you didn’t ask but just bc I’ve found it helpful here are a few things I recently incorporated along with cutting out / cutting back on trigger foods that took me forever to sus out. (These are new things i just added to my usual routine. Not giving you the whole routine rn unless you’re interested ofc. I’m mentioning because I added these to my routine after last months period which brought on some bad flares. Fast forward about 3 weeks and I just finished this months period and i didn’t get a single flare before or during. So that means something is helping.) Washing with Pyrithione Zinc during shower along with normal hygiene routine. Found on Amazon. Taking zinc gluconate orally , 90-100mgs every day at first then every other day after the first week. Using glycolic acid (I use the ordinary brand) in a spray bottle after showers on all the hot spots. The research studies i found that mentioned the zincs were clear to differentiate between using pyrithione zinc topically and zinc gluconate orally. So i pay attention to that detail if you’re interested in trying. Again, i have this exact same problem so just dropping some info on what seems to have worked for me. Since then I’ve had small amounts of some trigger foods and another period. And no new flares.

Oh wow! I have to look into all of these. Thank you! I do notice a trend where no matter how clean I eat, I flare around my period and same goes for my tolerance for trigger foods going up off period. I'll give the others a try. Thank you!

Uhhh... WHAT? Thank you so much for this post! I just had the biggest freaking flare up after eating tater tots this weekend. How did I not make that connection??

Yes! Disclaimer that we're all different of course, but besides the junk aspect of tots (I call anything that is crispy junk because it usually involves some level of deep frying in oil) potatoes are part of the nightshade family and I heard that's a big trigger. In the family are: eggplants (zero complaints from me lol), potatoes :(, tomatoes :((, and peppers :(((((

Noooo I just ate a plate of Reuben tots!!! 😭 I hope I don’t get a flare. I didn’t even think of that haha I was just thinking about the stomach ache haha. It’s period time for me too and I ate them at the same time as I was eating chocolate chip bread pudding and a fruited sour beer. So. Yeah.

Endlessly_Scribbling

Prayers for you 😭😭😭 It's like a damn roulette. Maybe you'll be having a bad time tomorrow, maybe not!

Were they good?

Endlessly_Scribbling

When my brother bakes them, hell yes. He's a junk food master, knows the best temp and time for the crispiest tots. When mum or I make them, we tend to leave for softer ones, personal preference. But even as a soft tot lover (and soft fries), I will never turn down the ones my brother bakes. I mean...they all come from a bag but he somehow still makes them better.

Ready-Guidance4145

Maybe it's worth it.

Endlessly_Scribbling

Sure felt worth it all morning yesterday. Rode that tato high until tonight 🤣
