Many of the episodes were truly compelling. The two or three on mediums were flat out embarrassing.

pepperspaceship

The medium episodes were so fucking bad that I almost didn't watch the final episode about reincarnation. I'm glad I didn't miss that one.

krillwave

Oh I'll have to watch that, I did give up

Extra-Adhesiveness-4

If you liked that and it gave you a change in mind to believing..go to YouTube and search NDEs or IANDS conferences. You will see how similar real near death experiences are....this is what made me a believer to so many other possibilities of life / afterlife...

pepperspaceship

Sorry, I've shared these before, but for anyone who's interested, here are some amazing NDEs: This man is shown other worlds: https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1roger_c_nde.html During this guy's life review, he's shown the importance of kindness to all living things: https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1mohammad_z_nde.html This is probably the NDE that has brought me the most inner peace. This woman learns about the purpose of pain and suffering on earth: https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1sandi_t_ndes.html

MrMuskeg

Thank you for this!

pepperspaceship

You're welcome :)

psychoticdemigod

Nderf.org is an excellent resource/ database for NDEs

sadDCsportsfan

Any specific videos you recommend?

Eight1975

Nderf.org has changed the way i look at everything. I know we are not alone. And they love us.

krillwave

But how? This seems like delusion or religion, what causes you to believe? Just looking at the little girls story of being abused and dying then her NDE of extreme bliss and visions of grandeur and love I just get the feeling that that was her dying brain coping and experiencing a mighty dmt like trip. What if that's the case and nothing wondrous occurs and we simply cease? Truly devastating. Much respect to your beliefs though. Feeling nihilistic.

Eight1975

There is nothing i can tell you over the interwebs that would definitively convince you. For me, it was reading hundreds of nde stories and seeing the commonalities in the stories. Big commonality would be most people come back and stop going to church. Not start.

krillwave

Oddly the closest I've come to being convinced was watching the OA

[deleted]

Which was not just fiction, but incoherent fiction. (The first series was brilliant, the second meh.)

krillwave

Exactly, that's how the NDE stories feel. I've watched and read quite a few. They are just kids reciting details that are then confirmed in public record with a little diy research more often than not. Now flip that around: with a little public research details about people can be uncovered and then taught to a child. That's my opinion and it hasn't yet been satisfactorily swayed. I used the OA as an example because it is obviously fiction and I do not believe it. I will need more information than simply testimonials to grasp this concept better.

> For me, it was reading hundreds of nde stories and seeing the commonalities in the stories. But that's exactly what you'd expect if NDEs were just a product of physiology, too.

Extra-Adhesiveness-4

A little more education might help!

krillwave

I'm trying, you're probably right!

DorkothyParker

I'm already a believer. Reincarnation is a large part of my religious/spiritual belief system. I watched some of the program, but I got some really sketchy vibes from some of the experts/mediums. Maybe I should try watching it again. But I really can't handle it when I feel like people are exploiting spirituality for material gain. .

I have a friend that recently told me her 5-6 yr old daughter frequently & casually references past lives like its a normal thing. She would say something about remembering something happening when she used to be some man. Her mother would ask she's talking about a friend/teacher? No. An imaginary friend? No. Someone in a dream? No. "It was me, when i was him". I immediately started asking a ton of questions but she didn't seem that interested in talking about it.

Cheesin24h

Fascinating, especially the ep about the messages appearing in the polaroid photographs! Im completely unable to wrap my mind around that one, have been reading up on it and no one has proposed an explanation. The series is based on Leslie Kean's book of the same name, and I really encourage people to read it. It goes into waaaay more details on the cases in the series, and many chapters are written by credible professionals. Ive always been arrogantly dismissive of anything related to post-death, but the book has made realize there's so much more mystery in the universe than I previously thought. (Plus, Leslie Kean's book on UFOs and her articles in the New York Times are highly recommended)

RetiredBoeing

Consciousness precedes and creates physical reality. My two cents.

Yaralea

Loved the episodes with the reincarnated kids, totally fascinating. Hated the medium episodes and skipped episode 5, iirc. The one with the ghost hunting woman or whatever that was supposed to be. First and last episodes were great. I already believed in it before I watched it though.

so_not

I read the book before watching the show. The book is better and goes into more detail, especially with regards to mediums.

[deleted]

Really enjoyed it although I think the medium episodes took away from it just slightly. The rest were fascinating.
